KATERINA CLERKS
I walked into my husband's company with a wide grin plastered on my face. I am very excited and eager to share the good news with him. This is was what I had been praying for throughout my three years of marriage with Damian.
Damian, as the Alpha of Mars Pack, one of the largest and most powerful Pack, was a man you couldn't resist. He was tall, dark, and handsome- a typical description for a guy, and when he fixed his icy yet irresistible gaze on you, you were forever trapped in his charm.
His commanding, husky voice was one that nobody dared refuse. He was bossy and intimidating, he was like a god to his Pack members.
It's going to be our third-year wedding anniversary tomorrow, and now, the Pack's Seer had just confirmed about my pregnancy. I had been having this intuition for the past few days but wasn't sure yet, and now it had been confirmed. I'm definitely positive that Damian would be pleased with the news and I can't wait to share it with him.
We will be having sextuplets- according to what the Pack Seer said.
I took the elevator and walked out a few minutes later. Damian's secretary, Cynthia, sighted me and hurriedly got up from her seat to greet me. I waved at her happily and walked past her, but she quickly ran over and stood in front of me. "Erm..., M... mrs. Black, yo... you're here?!" she asked, sounding uncertain while I raise an eyebrow at her.
"Cynthia, is there a rule that says I shouldn't be here at my husband's office?" I asked, my tone slightly sarcastic and she shook her head, but still looked nervous and her eyes won't stop darting around.
"Erm, not at all, ma'am. I was... I was just thinking... I mean, did you call Mr. Black before coming?" She asked again in a cautious, anxious tone and immediately, the smile on my face instantly vanished.
Something was off. Cynthia's behavior seemed suspicious, and I don't like it one bit.
It feels like she's trying to stop me from going into Damian's office.
I tried to take a step forward, but she attempted to stop me again. I passed her a deadly glare and she immediately backed off.
I slowly approached his office door, my hand raised and ready to twist the doorknob open but I suddenly froze. My entire body went numb.
"No, Damian, I don't want to be your mistress!"
"Clara you-"
"Don't do this to me please. I love you so much. Let's just make this official. Divorce her and marry me instead. After all, you don't love her. You love me, and that's all that matters." I overheard a familiar voice said to him.
I knew that voice too well- it's Clara, my stepsister. She is my stepmother's daughter- not my father's biological child, as Sarah brought her in with her when she married my father.
What I don't understand is, why is she here? She had left three years ago without any traces, and now, she is back? -My mind raced with worried thoughts as I realized what was happening.
"I know, and trust me when I say I love you too, Clara. But it's not as simple as it seems." Damian said.
"I don't understand you, Damian. Are you telling me to remain as your mistress? For how long? Five years? Ten years? Or forever? For goodness sake, you're an Alpha, and I'm the woman you love! You have the right to make your own choice. Who will question you if you do?" Clara complained.
"Then what would you have me do? I need to think of a way to make you become my Luna. I can't just divorce her without a valid reason. The Pack Councils won't support me without a legitimate ground for divorce." Damian explained to her.
"Then, let's set her up. Let's make it look like she's been cheating on you with another man. That way, it will be easier for you to divorce her." Clara suggested as her voice filled with determination. The desperation in her tone made it clear that she is willing to do anything to make Damian hers.
I stood there frozen and rooted to the spot whilst my heart pounded loudly in my chest. Tears welled up in my eyes as I clenched my fists tightly, trying to control my temper. My wolf whimpered and stirred angrily inside me which I hated seeing. I quickly pushed her back in, reminding myself that this isn't the time to bear my wolf.
I knew Damian had always been drawn to Clara, he loved her even before our marriage. But when the Moon Goddess paired us together and said he was my fated mate, I accepted it. I had been nothing but a devoted and obedient wife, dedicating my life to him. I loved him insanely as my Alpha. I had followed every decision he proposed, even when it hurt my pride as the Luna of his Pack. But now, things were different.
I felt betrayed and hurt.
"Why did he have to do this to me? Of all women in the world, why my stepsister? What have I done wrong to deserve this from him?" I thought again angrily, my chest tightening in pain as I clutched it tightly.
With my heart in my throat, I slowly pushed the door open only to see Clara wrapped lovingly in my husband's embrace. If anyone could see them in this compromising position, they would think they were real lovers.
I expected them to be shocked, but instead, they looked upset, especially Damian.
"Katerina, what the hell are you doing here?" he growled, in his usual intimidating tone.
This is what he always does. He growls at me at any slightest opportunity he's got.
The threatening tears in my eyes finally spilled down my cheeks. "Why?" I asked in a cracked voice, looking at him with tearful eyes.
"Kate, I am... it's not... it's not what you think... I promise." Clara began to explain but her stuttering voice was so unconvincing. And when I glanced at her, I didn't fail to see the wicked smirk on her face.
This only means one thing- she knows exactly what she's doing.
I clenched my palm into a fist, my hands trembling in anger as I glared hard at her. I just can't believe my eyes. The most frustrating part is that I tried to speak, but words failed me woefully.
"Because I love Clara." Damian suddenly said, his voice dangerously cold. For a moment, I thought he'd spoken to provoke me, but the look on his face told a different story. His eyes blazed with a fierce hatred and his gaze piercing through me like a dagger.
I stood there shocked whilst staring at him.
"So, you want to accept her because you love her? What about me?" I questioned, my voice laced with disbelief. Before he could reply, I quickly added, "Please tell me it's all a mistake. That you didn't mean any of these words?" I said, hoping he would apologize sincerely.
I was ready to forgive him if he did just that. I was ready to let things go but Damian just looked at me with a bored expression, like I was disturbing him with my questions and my anger increased more.
"SAY SOMETHING!!" I burst out, my voice raised at him for the first time in our three years of marriage and I felt a surge of pride for standing up for myself.
He stared at me for a few seconds and nodded, his nasty smirk still plastered on his face. I gulped and nodded too, finally coming to my senses and accepting the reality.
Throughout our marriage, Damian had failed to fulfill his duties as my mate and husband, leaving me wondering why. I had thought it might be because of my inability to bear him children, but I was wrong. It was because he still loves Clara.
Maybe this is a sign. A sign to finally let him go and focus on myself and my unborn kids. They don't deserve a father like him.
I just wonder why the Moon Goddess had to pair me with a man who would never love me no matter how hard I tried to please him.
"Don't say that, Kate. This is not the time to slack off. Remember you have your unborn kids to care for. You need to be strong for them" My wolf, Kayla encouraged me and I found myself calming down a little bit.
If I will accept his rejection or divorce him, I would do it with dignity. I would prove to him that I was not that weak girl he used to know.
I wiped away my tears and said to him in a calm tone. "Okay then... I'm accepting your wish."
"What do you mean?"
"It means I want a divorce, Damian." I announced boldly and he suddenly burst into laughter, probably thinking I was joking. But I was not the same person he had met years ago. I am much stronger now. If not for anything but for my unborn kids.
"Wait, you're joking right? You can't just divorce me like that"
"I, Katerina Clerks, daughter of Alpha Enzo of the Black Stone Pack rejects you, Damian Black, as my mate. I'm severing my mate bond completely with you." I said in a proud and firm tone while looking him straight in the eyes.
"What's wrong with you? You don't have the right to reject me as your mate! You have no right to do that! Until I said so, it's not over yet!!!" He burst angrily.
I stared at him, hurt by his lack of remorse. I had just caught him with my stepsister, and yet he showed no regret. How could I have fallen for a man like him?
"I don't have the right, you say? Of course, I can do what I want! I'm leaving you, and you can't stop me!" I yelled back.
"Kate, please, don't do this. He's your husband, and we can still settle this amicably," I heard Clara said, making me scoff.
Does she think that I'm a fool? Of course, I could see through her hypocrisy! She was the one colliding with my husband on how to make me leave the Pack while she become the new Luna and now, she's asking me to stay back?
What a joke!
I slowly turn to face Damian who still looked shocked at my sudden decision. "And yes, I will make the announcement of our separation to the Pack Councils and the Pack members. You don't need to worry about that." I said, slowly turned around and leave his office.
Definitely, I was hurting but I held it in. Immediately I stepped out of his office, I made a promise to myself- TO RAISE MY KIDS ON MY OWN.
DAMIAN BLACK
"Wait, did my wife just reject me?" I asked myself as I stared at her retreating back in horror.
I have always known Katerina to be calm or, maybe I thought I did because the Katerina I know would never take this huge decision. I always believe she was a weak and obedient mate. She trembles easily when she hears my voice but what I just witnessed now, there was no fear in her eyes or voice and she seems like she knows what she's doing.
I've always loved Clara since we were kids. She was a sweet, kind, and beautiful girl. But as we grew up, she became even more beautiful and attractive. But then I met Katerina, who was chosen by the Moon Goddess as my fated mate and I found myself irresistibly drawn to her, my primal instincts overpowering my rational desire to be with Clara. I couldn't resist the call of my fated bond with Katerina.
I accepted it and Clara suddenly disappeared without any traces.
I was shocked when I saw her two months back, right here in my office. She looks more beautiful and irresistible than before. I was very happy when she told me she came back for me, she couldn't stay a day without thinking about me which, the feeling was mutual.
I wanted to go after Kate, but Clara stopped me, pulling my hands and holding them tightly. "Damian, where are you going? Don't tell me you're going to chase after her despite everything I told you she did to us?" Clara asked, her tone laced with disbelief.
Like I would ever forget the pain Kate has caused her- Every word she said to me that day still etched in my mind to this day.
FLASHBACK
"Damian I... I have something important to discuss with you"
I turned to look at her confused.
"It's about Kate. She's not who you think she is" She said as tears suddenly brimmed in her eyes and rolled down her cheeks.
"What do you mean?" I questioned with a scrunched brow. The fact that she was even crying got me more worried. I've never seen her looking this scared before.
"I'm sure you truly want to know the reason why I disappeared without a trace three years ago. Well, the truth is, I was threatened by Kate. If I hadn't left back then, as the daughter of the Alpha of her Pack, she will have the High Priestess Witch kill me" She said with more tears brimming down her cheeks.
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"I happened to witness her making a bargain with the High Priestess Witch of her Pack, trading something in exchange for the power to enchant you. The truth is, she never liked you, she only used you to get back at me. She's held a grudge against me and my mother since the day she married her father. Knowing how I feel about you, she find a cunning way to replace me in your heart and become the Luna Queen instead."
"WHAT???!!!!"
"Please believe me, Damian. I'm telling you the truth." She pleaded, her eyes welling up with more tears.
I stared at her, shocked. My anger boiling over and over as I clenched my fists tighter. I felt a wave of disgust wash over me. How could Kate deceive me like this?! Three whole years.... THREE WHOLE YEARS WAS NOTHING BUT A LIE?!!!
FIVE YEARS LATERDAMIAN BLACK"Alpha." Nicholas, my second Beta said, standing before me. "What is it, Nicholas?" I asked. "Alpha, I think you should come outside for a moment." He replied. I nodded, dismissing him, and passed Clara who was standing beside me a small smile. I pulled out my phone and called for the maid. I had already assigned some maids to serve Clara since we might be getting married soon. "Alpha, you called for me?" Stella, the head maid asked, standing before me with her head bowed."Stella, this is Clara, my wife to be." I said, introducing Clara to her. "You and the assigned maids will attend to her needs from now on." I ordered, my tone firm. "Yes, Alpha" Stella replied, still bowing her head and I nodded.Five years had passed, yet the wounds of Katerina's betrayal still lingered in my heart. I couldn't believe she was that heartless and full of competition. I truly wanted her to feel the pain I felt when I learned of her betrayal from Clara but she was ab

KATERINA CLERKSI stepped into the meeting room with Sebastian and Janet walking behind me. The Pack councilors all rose from their seats, their faces looking serious. Of course, it's should be. This is a trivial matter and it requires everyone to be as serious as they could. I took my seat at the head of the table, my eyes scanning the room before speaking. "Have your seats" I said, my voice firm. "I'm sure you're all aware of the incident that occurred earlier today. A rogue werewolf infiltrated our territory and killed two of our warriors. He has been interrogated but has refused to say a word. I want to know your thoughts concerning this" I said, looking at their faces. I know most of them don't want me here, as they're supporters of Sarah and Clara. I needed to be at alert. I need to know if this is their doings- especially Sarah or, there's more to this. I studied their faces, one after the other and finally, my gaze locked on Sarah but she held a straight look on her face.
