Evangeline sat in the sterile hospital room as the bedside lamp cast a warm light that created subtle patterns of shadow on the walls. It had been days since the accident, and Klein still hadn’t woken up. The doctors had done all they could, and now, all that was left was the agonizing wait. But Evangeline refused to leave his side. Exhaustion pressed heavily on her. She had let Lydia and a few more nannies babysit the triplets as she focused all her strength in taking care of Klein. Dark circles under her eyes became a testament to the sleepless nights she had endured, but she didn’t care. All that mattered was Klein.
