Chapter 77

ELISE'S POV

The next morning, I woke up earlier than usual. I had made up my mind. I would go down for breakfast, help out in the kitchen as I did yesterday and thank Ferris for everything. I'd tell him my plans about leaving.

The thought of leaving him made my chest ache with hurt but I had no other choice. I didn't want to be a burden to him.

I put on a simple dress and walked quietly down the hall. On my way to the kitchen, I spotted a familiar figure at the dining table.

Ferris.

He was seated at the head of the long table. His broad shoulders were relaxed as he sipped his coffee and read a newspaper. His presence, as always, seemed to fill the room effortlessly. The sight of him, so composed and handsome made my heart skip a beat.

Taking a deep breath, I stepped forward.

“Good morning,” I greeted him, bowing my head.

Ferris looked up from his paper and his eyes softened as they met mine.

“Elise, good morning.” He said. .
