Chapter 84

As soon as I got into my chambers, there was a knock on my door. I tilted my head to the side, groaning. I couldn't even catch a break, could I?

"Come in" I said.

The door opened, revealing Alexandra.

"Alex" I said, taking off my jacket "What is it?"

"The council is already in session. They're waiting for you."

I sighed deeply. The evening had been long enough, but duty called. There was no escaping it.

"Give me a moment to change."

Alexandra shook her head. "They’ve already been in there for an hour. No time. It’s important."

I ran my hand through my hair, fighting back my frustration.

"Of course it is." I said, straightening my shirt.

When I looked decent enough, I nodded at Alexandra to lead the way. I just got back and I wasn’t in the mood for complaints from the council, but I knew their grumblings would be inevitable. I also had an idea why they called me for this emergency meeting. Honestly, I was expecting it. I knew them too well.

The walk through the halls was quiet,
