FERRIS' POV

My phone buzzed on the table in front of me. glanced at the screen and sighed when I saw the name: Alexandra. I knew exactly why she was calling. I had been putting off the discussion for as long as I could, but there was no escaping it now.

"Yes, Alexandra?" I answered, trying to keep my tone neutral.

"Alpha, what the hell is going on?" Her voice was firm.

I knew she was frustrated due to the stress of managing the pack in my absence. She was an excellent Beta but sometimes she could be a little too persistent for her own good.

"You said you'd be back by now. What are you doing over there?" she asked me.

I leaned back in my chair, looking out the window. "I’ll be back tomorrow," I reassured her. "There’s nothing to worry about."

"And the Luna selection ceremony? Have you given it any thought? The elders are breathing down my neck. They’re eager to see who you’ll choose."
