“What did just you say?“ The look of terror on May's face could just not be described.

Kayla sat down on the couch, reflecting on what the grand baron has just done. Harry has been trying to get May to take offers from home which are very huge and tempting. But May has been turning down each offer.

However, this did not stop Harry from continuing it. He wasn't going to give up until he got her to do what he wants. He was going to make her go back home and face her fear. Meanwhile May is shaking in fear.

“Just calm down. I am sure he is not on his way to submit the document. It can be cancelled-” Kayla tried to calm her down but then realized that it's impossible.

There's no way she'll be able to go back on her words if she wants to cancel. That's part of the contract she signed with the agency. She would have to give up everything as compensation for damages if she wants to stop.

“I am going to kill Harry! How dare he do this to me? I clearly told him I had no interest in their offers! Why would he bring that to me?“ She fumed in anger, looking for her phone to call Harry back.

“I don't know why he doesn't listen to me. Do I have to sue him or what?“

May called Harry but he wasn't picking up. She called his office, no one answered either. She concluded that this was a plan and they were doing it on purpose.

“They're all kidding me. They are going to be disappointed if they think they can force me into going back home with all these tricks!“ She threw the phone away and fell back on the couch.

Kayla could see how uncomfortable her friend is and she didn't like it. Ever since May got separated from the man she loved and trusted, she only wanted to get away from that city. That place only brought pain to her so she didn't want to go back.

It's hard getting over all she had to go through, so she avoided anything that involved going back for now. The grand baron has made the mistake of trying to pull her back there. May is not willing to go even if she has to lose everything.

“They can have all my wealth for all I care. I won't go back there! Never!“ She said with determination.

Kayla stood up to sit beside her, May wasn't looking good. She looked way too restless.

“Listen, you need to calm down. I know you are going to hate me for saying this but how long do you want to hide from this?“

May turned to her friend with a fierce look, “As long as I want to. I don't want to go back there! My life was never good. Why do I have to go there?“

“Think about other people May!“ Kayla shut her up, her eyes getting red. May could tell by looking at her friend that she is mad.

“Wait, why are you mad at me?“

“You haven't been home in four years. Why are you the one running from home when it was all his fault? You promised to forget him, I guess you still couldn't do it.“

“Shut it Kayla. I want nothing to do with him anymore, don't change the subject.“ May fired at Kayla.

“Then why? It's just a job that we have to do and come back. I can't even go back to my hometown properly because of this job!“ Kayla continued to complain, it just became too much to bear.

“I didn't ask you to stay with me. If you miss home so much, you can take a vacation or stop working for me!“ May says feeling guilty.

Kayla stood up, “Of course, you only think about yourself. You don't consider others feelings. You have lost so much in four years just because of that mindset. I'll quit since you want me to leave.“

The moment she heard that, May's guilt went over the roof. She could not bear gavi g her best friend hate her because she could not control her emotions.

“Listen that's not what…”

Kayla already got towards the door, “Bye.“

May did not get a chance to speak to Kayla, nor did she go after her friend. She sat back on the couch holding her head in frustration. As if it's not bad enough that she has to go back home and face what she has been running from. Now her best friend is mad at her because of this.

Her phone started to ring, she checked the caller ID and saw Harry. May was so mad that she picked up immediately. However, Harry did not let her speak first.

“I know what you are about to say. Don't you think you should stop running away now? What exactly are you running from? The man who left you because of his ex or the fact that you can't face him anymore?“ Harry asked her.

She scoffed, “What do you know about me? Just because we work together now doesn't mean you know a thing about me.“

Harry accepted, “You are right. I might not know much about you but I have seen enough to tell what you are like. You'll never be able to get over this if you don't face it now. Why don't you give this a try?“

“You did this on purpose didn't you? You fucking-”

“I know. I am a fucker. I don't mind. Think about it and get back to me. We have to leave in a few days so you don't have much time. Will you give everything up because of him or will you just let him go and live your life?“

May did not want to listen to him anymore so she cuts the call. The fact that everything she worked for is on the line now makes things worse. Her head spun around that she has to lay back on the couch.

Going home means there is no way she can avoid seeing him. After separating from him for a few years, she didn't expect them to meet again in this way. She was beginning to enjoy her life living away from him? The truth is how she can't even face her problem and she had to run away. Can she really do this?
