Chapter Fifty Eight

‘Questo incontro è per lanciare a tutti voi un avvertimento’ [This meeting is to issue you all with a warning]

She lifted her head and her cats eyes glittered golden,

‘Questo è un avvertimento, l'unico che darò. La pace è finita’ [This warning, is the only one I shall give. The peace is over]

There were shocked gasps around the table and almost to a man they looked at the Councillor who remained silent and still beside her,

‘O sei con me o contro di me e ne ho avuto abbastanza. Tutti voi volete un pezzo di me, beh non più’ [You are either with me or against me and I have had enough. You all want a piece of me, well no more.]

Her eyes landed on Romero,

‘Puoi solo spingermi lontano e ora respingerò’ [You can only push me so far and now I am going to push back]

She handed out the papers she had in front of her,

‘Ho parlato con il Consiglio e ho seguito tutte le regole mafiose. Io dichiaro guerra a tutti voi. Ho il diritto attraverso il mio sangue di chiedere la mia vendetta per i torti che mi hai fatto.’ [I have spoken to the Council and I have followed all Mafia rules. I declare war on all of you. I have the right through my blood to demand my vengeance for the wrongs you have done to me.]

She looked around the table and saw the ashen faces it had always been known that any Don could dissolve the Peace at any time and declare war on the rest. They had thought it would be a deterrent, not one Don would want that responsibility on their shoulders except the beautiful young woman in front of them,

‘No, Juliette, don’t do this please’

Carlotta jumped to her feet shocked to her core at the ice cold woman standing before her,

‘Please, this is wrong, people will die, innocent people’

Juliette turned blank eyes to her one time friend,

‘Carlotta, this is the Mafia, not one of you is innocent’

She snarled and tossed her head before walking out and the room exploded behind her as they all turned to the Councillor,

‘Stop her for fuck’s sake’

He held his hand up and stood up,

‘Non c'è niente che possiamo fare. Conosceva la legge, l'ha studiata e si è assicurata che tutto ciò che faceva fosse legale secondo le nostre regole. Aveva tutto il diritto di fare quello che ha appena fatto, tutti voi avete questo diritto, la differenza è che lei lo ha invocato. Ora, a meno che qualcuno di voi non abbia idea di come fermarla, vi suggerisco di andare a casa e prepararvi a difendervi, lei metterà in atto la sua minaccia e ucciderà chiunque di voi si metta sulla sua strada.’ [There is nothing we can do. She knew the law, she studied it and made sure everything she did was legal under our rules. She has every right to do what she has just done, all of you have that right, the difference is she invoked it. Now, unless any of you have any idea how to stop her I suggest you go home and get ready to defend yourselves, she will carry out her threat and kill any of you who get in her way]

Silence descended and then Carlotta turned to Romero defeated,

‘Puoi fermarla’ [You can stop her]

He stood up and stretched languidly,

‘Sì, posso e lo farò, ma in cambio tutti voi giurerete la vostra lealtà nei miei confronti. Tutti voi mi obbedirete' [Yes I can and I will but in return you will all swear your loyalty to me. All of you, will obey me]

They looked at each other and then back at him,

‘Come la fermerai?’ [How will you stop her?]

He stared into Carlotta’s eyes,

‘Semplice la sposerò. Quando è mia moglie deve obbedirmi che è anche legge mafiosa e lei lo sa’. [Simple I will marry her. When she is my wife she must obey me that is also Mafia law and she knows it]

They had no choice, none of them wanted the Peace shattered by this vengeful dark angel even Carlotta agreed,

‘She needs Romero to keep her under control’

She told herself as she gave her word along with the other Dons, the Councillor nodded and shook Romero’ hand,

‘Ti auguro buona fortuna amico mio, quella piccola tigre richiederà un po 'di addomesticamento’ [I wish you luck my friend, that little tigress will take some taming]

He left them to return to the Council to explain their decision he could not help but feel a little jealous to, he would not have minded a chance to tame that beauty.  

Juliette was beyond their reasoning, she started the war the same day, dressed in black jeans and black hoodie with thigh length black patent leather boots she turned up at one of the Dons clubs with her men. Striding through the place she noted gambling, drug taking, and lap dancing, she stopped at his table.

‘Spegni la musica’ [Turn off the music]

Her voice was steely but the Don heard and he raised a finger and the club went quiet,

‘Cosa vuoi cagna?’ [What do you want bitch?]

He snarled at her, he was one of the worst Dons, he treated women like possessions, his to do with as he wanted. He was cruel and vindictive, he raped and beat any woman he felt deserved it. Is she spoke back to him, disobeyed him, avoided him, refused him or even looked at him wrong any perceived slight ended in violent rape. He glared at her now and signalled to his men,

‘Hai bisogno di una lezione di obbedienza alla cagna della mafia e te la darò’ [You need a lesson in obedience to Mafia bitch and I am going to give it to you]

His men stood up and as they did so the sound of guns being cocked echoed around the room,

‘Fuori’ [Get out]

She hissed without looking and the gamblers and dancers fled then she signalled to his women who stood together trembling,

‘Partire’ [Leave]

She commanded and they fled to their changing room,

Ora, dite ai vostri uomini di deporre le armi e possiamo evitare qualsiasi spiacevole‘ [Now, tell your men to put down their guns and we can avoid any unpleasantness]
