Regan’s POV
I wasted no time in going to find Luke. Especially after seeing Lena so angry. Despite the fact that she tried really hard to hide it, I could tell that Jasmine was disappointed with me. I knew that she had grown very fond of Luke since they had started training together. So hearing that I had hurt him, she was bound to be upset. I knew Luke would be wherever Nana was. And Nana was almost always at the healing house. So I headed over there, stilling my muscles in readiness for the scolding that I was sure was coming my way as soon as she caught sight of me. I was right. As soon as Nana saw me, she made her way over to me and fixed me with a glare so intense that I felt my self flinch. “Why would you do that to him?” She asked, her voice strangely calm but I knew she was trying to hold back because of the werewolves around. She did not want to disrespect me, as her Alpha, in front of everyone. “Come with me”, she said when I did not respond and turned to walk father away from hearing range. Knowing her, she had taken Luke to the furthest room on purpose so that our conversation could not be overheard no matter how much anyone tried. As soon as I had entered after her and shut the door behind me, she whirled around to continue her berating. “I have told you time and time again to stop taking your anger out on Luke”, she said. “You have never listened and now look”, she said, pointing towards where Luke sat with his back to us. “Look what that beast of yours has done to your friend”, she said and shook her head tiredly. “I am sorry Nana”, I said, head hanging low in shame and remorse. “Well, I hope you are”, she said. “Besides, it is not me that you owe an apology to”. With that said, she gently pushed me out of the way and left the room, slamming the door shut and leaving me alone with Luke, who still had his back to me. “Luke”, I started, taking a step towards him. “I am sorry, my brother”, I apologized. “I did not mean to hurt you and I am sorry that I have”, I told him. He was silent for a while before he finally responded. “Liar”, I heard him say quietly. “You meant to hurt me”, he said. Momentarily taken aback at his words, I quickly recovered before taking a deep breath and letting it out. “You are right”, I told him. “I was wrong”, I said. “It was wrong of me to want you to hurt whenever I was hurting. As a matter of fact, it was diabolical of me to want you to hurt with me”, I told him. “I took advantage of our friendship and for that I will always be sorry. I only ask that you find a way to forgive me”, I said, head bowed and awaiting his response. After a short while of silence, I heard him turn around. Slowly, I lifted my head up, dreading what I would see as an image of his earlier mauled face flashed through my mind. I would never forgive myself if I had disfigured him permanently. As my eyes came to rest on his face, I felt myself take in a deep breath of relief at the sight of his face. Other than a faint scar running from across hoe eyebrow and down just past his eye, there was no other injury in sight. How Nana had managed to heal him, I would never know. But a sudden image of how exhausted she had looked earlier, one she had hidden well with annoyance, told me that she had used up a lot of her energy in healing Luke. Although he wasn’t smiling, the jovial look he usually sported was back on his face. “Look what you did to me”, he said, no sign of aggression or resentment in sight. “Now my mate would have to see me like this and doubt that there was ever a time that I was absolutely perfect”, he said, a small smile appearing on his face. But despite how relieved that I was that he seemed to have forgiven me, I could not bring myself to return his smile. Instead, I took steps to lessen the dust between us. On seeing my face, his smile disappeared as well. “I am truly sorry, Luke”, I told him, the remorse I felt making it hard to speak. “I do not deserve your friendship nor your loyalty but I will always thank the Moon Goddess for bringing us to meet and for making you think I am worthy of your friendship”. Luke simply watched me for a while. “You have my forgiveness”, he finally said. “But on one condition” he added. “Anything”, I said readily, knowing I could never refuse him his first request. His face took on a far away. “When this is all over”, he began. “Everything with Blackmoon. And once we’re left with no doubt that Jazzie would be safe”, he said. “Then, will you give me permission to go and find her?” He asked. I knew exactly who he was talking about. His mate. And if I were a good friend, he would not have to ask such a thing of me. I would have already seen to it that we had found her. I knew it had always been his greatest wish, his greatest desire, to finally meet his mate. And I had had the power to grant it to him all along but I never did. And like that had not been enough to crime against him, I had gone ahead to mock him. I could feel Rage’s emotions as he could feel mine. And as I allowed the regret to drown me, I could feel him allowing his guilt to do the same. ‘Tell him I am sorry’ he told me, the first time my proud wolf had ever made such a request. “Rage wishes to tell you that he is sorry”, I told him immediately. His eyebrows lifted in surprise at my words, drawing my attention once more to the new scar on his face that was all because of me. “Well, that is a first”, he said, a smile lifting a corner of his lips. “And to your request”, I said. “You need only let me know when you are ready and it will be granted. Even if you wish to leave today, I will grant it. I will never stand in your way”, I vowed. He nodded his head and stood to his feet. “I do not know how to handle you looking so forlorn”, he said, raising a hand to place on my shoulder. “You have my forgiveness”, he said. “But just so you know, if that beast of yours attacks me again, I will not hesitate to give him a scar to match mine. Alpha or not”, he warned, a smile on his face but a devilish promise in his eyes. “Fair enough”, I said with a nod. He gave my shoulder a pat before pulling away and making his way to the door. “Well, come now”, he said. “There is plenty of work to do and no time to waste”, he said, pulling it open and walking out. I followed after him. “You do not have to work today”, I told him, falling into step beside him as we made our way out of the healing house. “Then what am I supposed to do with myself all day?” He asked. I though for a moment as we walked. “You could take a day off and rest”, I suggested. “Rest”, he said, thinking over my suggestion. “That sounds quite tempting”, he said. “But I have too much to do and they will only be waiting for me afterwards if I decide to rest”, he said. “I could do them for you”, I suggested and he came to a sudden stop. I came to a stop as well. He stared ahead for a moment before slowly turning to me. “I understand that you feel the need to make it up to me, and that you feel guilty for scarring me”, he said. “But you have asked for my forgiveness and I have given it”, he said. “So there is no need to continue to try. Let that be the end of it”, he said. “Are we in agreement?” He asked, bringing forth a hand. I looked from him to the hand and back before grabbing a hold of his arm as he did to mine. “We are”, I said with a firm nod. “Good”, he said. “Now, I shall be on my way to the training grounds”, he said. “There are young wolves that need to be taught what it means to be a warrior”, he said. “And I will head to my study”, I said. “There is work that needs to be handled”. “Very well then”, he said already turning away. “I shall see you later for supper”, he said and began walking away before stopping and turning back. “And do give my thanks to Jazzie”, he said with a knowing smile. “I have known you all my life and not once have you actually managed to apologize to me, even when you are dying to”, he said. “And assure her that I am well, she tends to worry quite often”. For the first time since I had seen him, I felt my lips curve into a smile. “I will be sure to do that”, I said and with a half wave, he turned and walked away. I watched him go until he was out of sight before making my way to the pack house and towards my study. As I approached my study, I caught her addicting scent and knew she was there, waiting for me. I pushed open the doors and entered to see her seated in my chair behind the desk. The moment she heard me come in, she hastily stood from it and made her way around it, blushing and looking very much like a pup who was caught doing something they should not have been doing. I felt the final weight in my heart lift at the sight of her and I could not help but smile at her antics. “I just wanted to know if it was comfortable”, she said, still blushing and looking down at her feet. “I am sure you did”, I said, unable to stop a laugh from escaping me. At the sound, she looked up and made her way over to me. “How is he?” She asked, not bothering to hide the worry in her voice or on her face. “Was Nana able to heal him? Was he scarred really badly? Is he in much pain?” She asked all at once. I placed my hands on her shoulders to stop her. “Calm yourself, love”, I said, steering her towards a chair and pushing her gently into it. “He is fine”, I told her. “In fact, he told me to assure you that he is well”, I said and watched as relief began to seep into her features. “He is truly well then?” She asked once more. I nodded my head. “He is”, I told her, crouching down so she would not have to look up at me and hurt her neck. “That is good to hear”, she said. “I suppose you apologized to him?” She asked and once again, I nodded. “And he has accepted my apology”, I assured, knowing she would ask. “And the scar?” She asked, her eyebrows creasing with worry. “Is it terrible?” She asked. “It is not terrible”, I told her. “He has said he will come for supper so you will see for yourself that it is not too bad”, I told her. “I suppose he is well then”, she said, almost to herself. “He is”, I assured again, pulling her into my arms and planting a kiss on her head. “Now go back home and rest until then”, I told her. “We need you strong and fully recovered”. She nodded at my words and stood to her feet to plant a kiss on my head before heading towards the door. Once she reached it, she turned back with a smile. “I will see you at supper then”, she said, and I nodded my agreement with a smile before she finally left.Jasmine’s POV. “Please don’t say that”, I whimpered as I stared at my mate in shock, sure that if I had a wolf, she would be howling in pain at the words that were coming out of his mouth. “I’m an Alpha”, he said. “An Alpha of one of the strongest packs in our world. It would be seen as the ultimate mark of weakness to have a mate that is without rank and a wolf”, he told me, looking me over with his decision clear in his eyes. I looked away and resisted the urge to curl into a ball and sob, instead distracting myself with anything that came to mind. That was probably why I blurted out the first question that came to my mind. “How did you know?” I asked, staring down at my feet in shame. “Bianca told me”, he said and my head whipped up so fast since that wasn’t the answer I had been expecting. “What?” I asked in surprise. “How does she know that?” Before he could respond however, the snotty voice that belonged to the witch in question came from the open door behind me.
Jasmine’s POV. “Jasmine!” I heard a familiar voice call through the darkness. “Jasmine, you must wake up”, the voice whispered urgently even as hands jerked me awake, pulling me from the darkness. I opened my eyes to the face of my mother, a fear in her eyes that mirrored the urgency in her voice. “Mama?” I called out softly in confusion, still dazed from sleep. “Get up”, she urged. “Quickly!” Even as she spoke, she moved away from me to rummage through the bag she had sewn for me out of the animal skin father had skinned. “We do not have time”, she said, moving about the room and putting things into the bag before closing it. “Come”, she said and scooped me up from my bed and into her arms. She held onto the bag with one hand and hurried through our humble house and out the back door which led into the dark woods. There, my father stood. There was a dead wolf a small distance away from me that my mother turned my head away from seeing properly through the darkness
Jasmine’s POV The darkness of the hole gave way to another darkness that soon engulfed me. Howling sounds pulled me from the darkness this time and when I came to, I looked around and realised that I was in the same room my mate had all but rejected me in. I was still sprawled out on the cold floor and from the tight muscle pains that radiated all over my body and the cold I could feel in my bones, I knew I had been passed out for a while. It had been a dream. A dream I hadn’t had in a very long time. One that felt more like a memory than a dream but I could never be too sure. The only thing that made me think it was not just a dream was the fact that my guardian was a man with a scar under his left eye. Other than that, I had no clue on anything else. I shifted from my position, a groan escaping my cold, chapped lips as I brought myself to a sit on the cold floor. I could still hear the several howls that had pulled me out of my unconsciousness. The clear difference
Unknown POV He picked up another scroll that laid beside the books and papers stacked on the desk he sat behind and read through another report from some warriors on an errand to an ally pack up north. He scowled at the contents written in it, still ignoring the presence of the three men who stood before him on the other side of the table. Having read enough of the scroll’s contents, he tossed it aside and turned his scowl to the men who waited silently. He regarded each of them without a word, knowing his silence would only make them grow nervous and fearful. That was his intent after all. He finally decided to break his silence when the youngest of the three began to tremble. “You said you had important information for me regarding Blackmoon”, he said, biting back his smirk at their fear. “Yes, Alpha”, the older, more muscular one said immediately. “Then tell me”, he urged. The three exchanged looks before the trembling youngster took a step forward.
Jasmine’s POV I couldn’t muster the ability to care that I was now sprawled out on the floor of the wooden cabin I had been unceremoniously dumped in two days before. I had been brought here after my mate had pronounced my sentence and I had cried my eyes out. As I laid out on the cold floor, allowing the cold to seep into my bones and ignoring the second plate of oatmeal and dried fish that had been brought earlier by one of the guards of my cabin prison, I discovered an emotion that was though strange, yet comforting. That emotion was anger. I had gone through several emotions since being thrown into the cabin. The first was pain. Literal pain from the injuries I had sustained while being rough handled and treated like a criminal, and emotional pain from all that I had gone through. The second was shock because I could not believe that it was all really happening. I wished I was evil enough to have done what I was accused of but I was not. The next was
Jasmine’s POV. As soon as the door to the study slammed shut behind me, I breathed a sign of relief. I could feel my aching shoulders relax and felt such ease being away from the scorching gaze of the Alpha. Looking forward to where Luke now stood with a teasing glint in his hazel eyes, no doubt seeing my relief, I felt my shoulders tense once again. The fact that the Alpha was more scary didn’t mean I wasn’t still scared of Luke. “Believe me when I say you have less to fear from me”, he said as if reading my mind. “I will not hurt you if you do not give me a reason to”, he added turning away from me to start walking down a hallway. Since he was the only one I could somewhat trust to not harm me as long as I behaved, I hurried after him, making sure to walk behind him with my eyes downcast to avoid the stares from any werewolves we came across. He led me out the way we had come and into the gaze of the fully risen Sun. He took the opposite path from the woods and led me dow
Jasmine’s POV. Just as Luke had said, a red haired woman had come to fetch me before night fall. A knock on the door pulled me from the arms of the peaceful sleep I had been in. It took a moment to gather my thoughts and remember where I was when I finally opened my eyes. Biting down on a groan, I brought my aching body to a sitting position, then pushed myself to stand and make my way to the door. I opened it to see a pretty red haired woman with freckled cheeks standing before me with a smile. She looked to be a bit older than me and her smiling brown eyes showed a warmth I was not familiar with receiving. “My name is Lena”, she said. “It’s short for Elena. May I come in?” She asked almost immediately and it took me a moment to respond. “Yes, you may”, I said, opening the door wider to let her in. I was still in a state between shock and disbelief and automatically shut the door after she made her way in. It was as I turned around to look at her that I noticed sh
Jasmine’s POV. Elena’s warmth had a way of wrapping itself around one and making them feel safe. That was how I felt from the moment I had met her. And that was why I confided in her about things I had never told anyone, even if we had just met. While she tended to my wounds, we talked. I told her a little more about my life at Blackmoon pack and she was more angry at the treatment I had been dealt before sympathizing with my plight. Then she began to tell me about her pack. It was called the Midnight Wolves Pack and it was a big one. As she spoke, I could hear the pride in her voice when she talked about her pack, especially her Alpha. It was clear that the scary Alpha, or Alpha Regan, as Elena had informed me, was highly respected and admired from the way she spoke of him. She shared that after the attack that had killed most of their pack members, including their former Alpha and Luna several years ago, Alpha Regan had been the one to restore the pack to its full

Jasmine’s POV I and Lena had finally spoken. We talked late into the night and eventually fell asleep around the late hours of the morning. Regan had not returned and I knew it was because he knew that Lena and I needed each other. It was another reason why I loved him. He was very thoughtful and always put my needs before his. When Lena and I woke up the next morning, we held each other for a while before leaving the bed to go about our daily routines. Lena returned to her room and I washed us before Regan returned. When he finally did, he knocked once in the door to let me know he was coming in before pushing the door open and entering into our room. I took one look at his face and knew that something had happened. “What has happened?” I asked, making my way over to him and taking his hand. He simply shook his head, a sad look on his face that worried me. I pulled him over to the bed and gently pushed him to sit, before taking my place beside him. “Please,
Regan’s POV I spent the night in my study after leaving Lena and Jasmine in my room together. It was clear to see that what they both needed at the moment was each other so I let them be. When I went up later to check on them, I could hear them talking quietly from where I stood outside the room and figured I would just let Lena spend the night with my mate. After all, she had been the one to save her life. Ever since she had woken up from her unconsciousness at the healing house, I had found it impossible to ask her what had happened. Partly because I could clearly see that she did not wish to speak to me about it. That was why I was glad she had Lena. That they both had each other in fact. The second reason I had not asked was because a part of me did not want to know just how deeply I had failed her since I knew that it had been my fault she had gone to the stream in the first place. I had thrown a ridiculously jealous fit simply because she had teased me. She h
Jasmine’s POV The darkness that surrounded me was familiar. I knew for certain that I had, not for the first nor second time, passed out once again. However, this time was different. As I gained consciousness, the first thing I noticed was the pain in my head. It wasn’t so bad that it was unbearable, but it was quite easy to notice. I tried to observe if I could feel pain anywhere else on my body but other than the ache in my head, I felt completely fine. Slowly, I opened my eyes, blinking at the brightness from the windows that illuminated the room I laid in. I was in a strange room, although something about the room looked familiar. Slowly, I moved my head to the side to see that the room was indeed familiar. I was in one of the rooms in the healing house. I looked towards my other side to see my mate still asleep, holding onto my hand with both of his. A smile pulled at my lips as I watched his handsome face while he slept. It was my first time seeing hi
Regan’s POV I could hardly recall the times in my life that I felt fear. The one that stood out the most was the terrible memory I shared alongside my pack on the day of the massacre when I was younger. Ever since then, I could barely recall a time when I felt afraid. After all, I was Alpha. But the second I had heard Lena’s shaky voice mind link me and simply caught the words ‘Jasmine’ and ‘attacked’ in the same sentence, I had once again felt the icy hands of fear claw down my spine as they had only done once before. I had been on a run with Rage and had just settled down under the tree in his sanctuary when Lena had mind linked me. Since I was still in my wolf form, I ran as fast as could towards the pack house. As soon as I approached the clearing just outside the woods, I saw Luke already standing there with a small pile of clothes in his hands. He said nothing, his face completely devoid of emotion. Something I knew for certain did whenever he was worried. De
Jasmine’s POV When I woke up from my exhausted sleep, it was already dark outside. I felt sated and spent. Completely and utterly satisfied and unable to move due to how comfortable and exhausted I was. I turned to the other side of the bed to find it empty once again. Once again, I had woken up alone in our bed. However, I was too tired to think deeper on what that could mean. Regan had explored every inch and dip of my body and had brought me to heights I had never known existed time and time again. I had lost count of how many times I had cried out his name as I ascended new heights. I had never imagined that anything would have felt like that. And if that had felt incredible, I wondered what fully mating with him would be like. I felt a blush heat my cheeks as the memory of earlier in the day flooded through my mind. Before I could think on it further, I heard the door to our room crack open to reveal my mate. He came in with a tray filled with food and
Regan’s POV I knew exactly what she was doing. And I only knew because I knew who exactly would advise her to act like that. Jasmine had started to avoid me. And rightly so. I knew I had not behaved too well. But I didn’t deserve to be avoided and ignored. The reason I knew the game she was playing was because I knew the person who invented it. Nana. And since Lena was quite similar to Nana In almost every way, I could only conclude that she had been the one to insist my mate start treating me in the manner she was. But her avoiding me made me realize the error of my ways. I had always told Lena to never allow a mate treat her in an undeserving or disrespectful manner. I had taught her to know her worth and not stand to receive anything less. So if Lena was advising my mate to act in that manner, it simple meant that she believed I had not treated my mate as well as I ought to have, and it made me feel guilty, sad and ashamed. I should have just explained to h
Jasmine’s POV I woke up alone in bed the next morning. The space where my mate once occupied was now empty. I knew for certain that something was wrong. My mate was keeping something from me. I looked around at the room I was in. I had never been in his room before and I took a deep breath to inhale the masculine scent that was all him. The room was masculine and practical with only the essentials needed. It would have been completely masculine if it wasn’t for the few of my things that now occupied a space in the room. I stood up from the bed to further inspect the room. Noticing the designs and furnitures in the large space. It was three times the size of my own room. Or former room rather. I went to what looked to be the wash room, realizing that I was right when I pushed the door to the space open. Seeing some of my things already there, I decided to wash up and make my way to the Lena’s room as I did each day. I knocked once on her door before pushi
Regan’s POV The mating ceremony passed by in a blur. I could barely pay attention to anything else that happened and I honestly did not care. My entire being was simply ensnared by the beauty that was my mate. She was beautiful. More beautiful than I had ever seen her before and Rage howled with pride that she was now ours. The thought of someone else having Jasmine as their mate made me want to go on a rampage. She had on her ceremonial dress and her hair was styled perfectly. She was perfection and I could barely take my eyes off her. “You will burn a hole through her if you keep staring at her like that”, Luke said from where he was seated to my left. The truth was, I could not help it. “Be quiet”, I told him, absent minded as I continued to stare at her. “If I had known you would behave like this, I would have helped her escape”, I heard him say and whipped my head around so fast that he moved away. “What did you say?” I asked, Rage already growling in
