Jasmine’s POV.

When I finally saw Luke, a part of me was relieved that the only thing left from his wounds was a faint scar, though I would have preferred that he didn’t have one to begin with.

He didn’t sit with us at our table as he usually did. Instead, he walked in, whispered something into Regan’s ear that made him nod, before serving himself a plate of food and taking the said plate of food to a corner of the hall with no one else.

He sat on an empty table by the window and ate, going through some papers as he did so.

“If you wish to speak with him”, my mate suddenly said from beside me and I turned my worried gaze from where Luke was seated towards him. “You can go to him”, he said, not looking the slightest bit upset that his mate’s attention was elsewhere. “I am sure he would appreciate your company even if he doesn’t know it”, he said, giving me a nod of approval.

I smiled at his words and pushed back my chair to stand to my feet. Then I bent to kiss his cheek but he turned his head so that my kiss landed on his lips instead.

I pulled away to see the mischievous look in his eyes and shook my head while a smile teased my lips.

As I picked up my plate of food to go, Regan spoke again.

“Take this to him”, he said, pushing a mug of probably ale into my hands.

I nodded and balanced the things I was carrying properly so they would not fall before making my way to the corner where Luke sat.

“I wonder how I never knew of this corner”, I said by way of greeting as I gently put down the things I was carrying onto the table then pulled out a seat to sit down before turning to him.

He stared at me in surprise, pushing the papers aside and probably wondering what I was doing.

“What are you doing?” He finally asked after recovering from his surprise. He turned to look around to where Regan sat having his meal with the others. “You should not be here”, he said. “You should be with your mate”, he advised.

“Well”, I said. “My mate wanted me to give you this”, I said, pushing the mug of ale towards him. “I wonder why you wolves like that”, I said, passing the ale a look of disgust. “It smells horrible and I bet it tastes the same”, I said.

He picked up the mug of ale and looked at it before looking back towards where Regan was seated. After a short while, he heaved a sigh and brought the mug to his lips to drink.

He gulped down half it’s content before putting it down and wiping at his mouth with the back of his hand.

“How do you know it tastes horrible if you have never tried it?” He finally asked.

“I do not need to taste it to know”, I answered firmly.

I don’t know how my expression must have been, but the next moment, he broke into a smile.

“You are as stubborn and hard headed as your mate”, he said and I beamed.

It just made him laugh.

We ate quietly for a while and I was reluctant to bring up the topic I wanted to talk about, knowing that it would ruin the peaceful mood.

“You might as well ask whatever is on your mind”, he said suddenly, as if he could read my mind.

I hesitated for a moment before proceeding to do so.

“Were you in much pain?” I finally asked, my voice barely above a whisper as I stared down at my plate.

He chuckled and I looked back at him in surprise.

Rather than tease me like I knew he usually would have, he simply answered.

“For a while”, he said, nodding his head. “Being a werewolf does not mean you do not feel pain”, he said. “It simply means you heal from it faster”.

my gaze dropped back to my plate in sadness.

“I know that I was the reason you fought”, I said quietly.

He scoffed and leaned back into his chair. “We did not fight”, he said. “He attacked and I avoided him. That is what happened”, he said lightly. “If we had fought, I would not be the only one with a scar”, he said and my heart dropped.

“Don’t say things like that”, I said, already seeing the ugly image of them engaged in a fight in my head.

He shrugged.

“There is no use for you to keep worrying”, he said. “I am fine. Regan is fine. All is well”, he assured.

I looked back at him.

“Then if all is well why are you not sitting with us at our table to eat?” I asked, unable to help the hint of accusation in my tone.

Rather than respond immediately, he did the last thing I explained him to do in regards to our conversation.

He rolled his eyes.

“The pack keeps staring at me and I cannot eat properly with so many eyes on me”, he said flippantly, as if it was nothing worth discussing. “I would rather enjoy my meal away from the prying eyes”, he said and proceeded to eat the said meal as if to prove it.

“And that is the only reason you are sitting here by yourself?” I asked, not being able to tell if he was saying the truth or if he was lying.

“What other reason could there be?” He asked in return.

“I don’t know”, I told him. “That is why I am asking you”.

Again, he rolled his eyes.

“I don’t know if it is because you have been around her for too long or simply that I am just beginning to notice”, he said. “But I am starting to believe that you are becoming as vexing and annoying as Lena”, he said.

My eyes widened in surprise and disbelief.

“I?” I asked. “Vexing?” I asked, at a loss for the right words.

He nodded.

“I don’t believe I noticed it before”, he said, looking at me as though he were seeing me for the first time.

“Stop that!” I snapped at him and he burst out laughing.

I glared at him as he laughed at him.

“Well”, I said. “I will have you know that you are just as vexing, if not more”, I told him hotly.

He nodded, recovering from his laughter.

“I am quite aware”, he said, a shameless smile on his face as he did so. “Unlike some”, he added with a smirk.

“I am not vexing!” I denied, completely annoyed.

“But you are”, he countered, smirk still in place.

“You are…” I trailed off, trying to find the right words that would describe just how he was behaving. “…Impossible!” I said, sounding lame even to my ears as I said them.

He laughed again.

“Thank you, my vexing lady”, he said with a mock bow.

That was the height for me.

“Oh… you!” I said and pushed my chair back angrily and rose to my feet.

“I hope you have a good meal!” I said infusing as much venom into my tone as I could before picking up my plate and walking away.

As I did so, his boisterous laughter accompanied me all the way back to my seat.

On seeing my angry face as I pulled my chair and sat, dropping my plate none too gently on the table, Regan and Lena immediately turned to each other and shared a knowing look.

“What did he do?” Lena asked in a tone that suggested she could already name many reasons.

“He…” I started and trailed off, feeling the annoyance try to steal my power of speech. “He called me vexing”, I said, trying to keep my voice even so I would not hear and alert the others at the table. Although I doubted anyone would hear with the amount of noise in the room.

From the corner of my eye, I saw Lena bite down on her lip to keep from laughing.

Although he didn’t smile, it was clear to see that Regan found my situation with Luke amusing as well.

“That simply means that he now considers you as family”, Lena said with a wave of her hand. “Luke always considers family vexing”, she said as if to console me.

“But I am not vexing”, I insisted, feeling more and more like a pup with each moment that passed.

“I agree”, Lena said immediately. “Neither am I, yet our words will do nothing to sway Luke’s opinion so what does it matter?” She asked with a shrug.

I felt Regan’s hand grab a hold of mine and turned to him.

“He does this on purpose to upset you”, he said. “And you give him the satisfaction he craves when you react this way, my love”, he said with a smile and leaned forward to kiss me on the head.

I knew what they said was true.

Luke lived for the thrill of getting a rise out of others.

I turned around to cast one last glare at him only to find his eyes already on me, the infuriating smirk still in place.

I turned away from him with a huff.

Turning back to my table, I picked up a piece of meat and angrily stuffed it into my mouth.

Due to the fact that the piece I had chosen was quite big, naturally, I began to choke on my food.

Lena rushed to get me water while Regan patted my back firmly until I brought out the offensive piece of meat.

I drank the water Lena held for me to drink and gulped down mouthfuls of it while my mate rubbed down my back.

The entire hall had fallen silent at my near death experience and once they were assured of my safety, gave sighs of relief before turning back to their meal.

However, before everyone could return their attentions to their meal, there was an eruption of boisterous laughter from the corner of the room, suspiciously the same area where Luke was seated.

I turned around, still trying to steady my breathing and draw in enough air into my lungs, only to see Luke, almost falling off his chair from the ferocity of his laughter.

I was not the only one who turned to watch him laugh at me. Everyone else did so as well. Some in surprise, others in amusement.

I never thought his laughter would end but it seemed I wasn’t the only one who had grown tired of his teasings.

“Enough, Luke!” Regan suddenly snapped from beside me.

I flinched in surprise as it was unexpected and Luke’s boisterous laughter seized.

I could not resist giving him a smug look. One he simply returned with a wide smile and robbed me of the small feeling of satisfaction that I had started to feel.

“Pay him no mind”, me mate whispered into my ear to bring my attention back to him. “I have news”, he said, gaining my attention.

Other than the anticipated of what the news contained, the smile on his face was just so enchanting that I was completely enraptured.

I returned his smile, nodding for him to continue.

“Do you remember that I once told you about a potion I had asked Nana to prepare for us?” He asked, playing with a wayward strand of my hair that had escaped the braid Lena had made for me.

I frowned in concentration, trying to recall what he was talking about.

When I finally remembered the conversation as well as the setting the conversation had taken place, I felt my cheeks heat up in a blush.

“I see that you remember”, he said with a smile full of mischief.

I nodded slowly.

“Well”, he said. “Nana has informed me that it is ready”, he told me.

My eyes widened at his words, already knowing their implication.

There was nothing stopping us from finally completing the mating ritual.

Regan’s POV The potion Nana made would take about two days to be effective. The one she made for me was to weaken me enough that I would not harm my mate with my strength and the one she made for Jasmine was to make her strong enough to endure the mating ritual. The mating ritual was an important process that we had failed so far to complete. After the mating ceremony, mates were expected to perform the mating rituals which involved the process of mating and being marked right afterwards. After the marking, it was understood that the mates would be completely bonded. That meant that even though Jasmine did not possess a wolf, she would be able to mind link me, though no one else. It would also mean that we would be able to feel each other’s emotions and would have a stronger ability to trace each other’s scents. That was why I wanted the mating ritual to be completed as soon as possible. If we were completely mated, I would be able to tell when she’s in danger and co

Jasmine’s POV It was even better than the last time. If I had thought that the last time I had been with Regan was incredible, then there were certainly no words to describe the act of mating. I had only felt pain for a brief moment when he finally joined us as one, but the very next moment was blissful. I had lost count of how many times I had cried out his name in my release as he took me to heights that were indescribable again and again. When he finally joined me to ascend the heights and we cried out each other’s names, I suddenly started to feel a burning sensation on the side of my neck. “Regan?!” I cried out his name in alarm at the intense sensation of heat, as if the side of my neck was on fire. “What is happening?” I asked, worry making my voice start to tremble. He separated our sweaty bodies as he pushed off me, holding his weight with his elbows on both side of me as he peered down at me in concern. I immediately turned my neck to the side to show it to

Regan’s POV By the time we made it back towards the pack, and out of the woods, Nana was already there waiting for us. I had mind linked her earlier after seeing the silver lines on my mate’s back. I didn’t know what to make of it so I had mind linked Nana to let her know that something strange was happening to Jasmine and that we were on our way to see her. But with Jasmine suddenly shifting for the first time, I had forgotten all about meeting Nana until she had mind linked to ask where we were. I had simply told her that something had happened to Jasmine and to meet us in front of the woods. So, her presence was no surprise to me. Naturally, since Lena was an extension of Nana, I was not surprised to see her waiting alongside Nana as well, especially once she knew anything that pertained or concerned her dearest friend. The person who I was surprised to see however, was Luke. I had not mind linked him and since he was usually busy, I did not expect him to be prese

Jasmine’s POV I woke around Noon the next day feeling very well rested. I immediately caught the scent of my mate and knew it had not been too long since he had left the room. For a moment, I wondered how I could have known that before the memories of the night flooded my mind. I had finally gotten my wolf. I was no longer the werewolf without a wolf. I would no longer be considered weak or unworthy to stand beside my mate as his Luna. Tears gathered in my eyes as I thought of how my parents would react to the news of me finally getting my wolf. I thought to call her but remembered that I had yet to choose a name for her. ‘How do you feel?’ I heard her calm voice in my head and smiled, knowing she had read my mind. ‘Strong’, I told her honestly, a wide smile appearing on my lips. I got off my bed and made my way to my closet to search for clothes and a towel. ‘What are you doing?’ I heard her ask as I made my way towards the door rather than to the washroom.

Regan’s POV After Nana’s revelation about the possibility of my mate being of the Royal bloodline, she had not stopped crying. I could feel her sadness and fear through our mate bond and despite my best efforts, I could not help her feel better. However, I was embarrassed to admit that it seemed that Lena could do what I had failed to. After we had returned to the house, Lena had taken Jasmine up to her room and they had been cooped up there ever since. But through our mate bond, I could feel that whatever Lena was doing to help her feel better was working, because the feeling of fear was muted and amusement and sympathy dominated the new emotions I felt from her. Luke was expected to be back with the old she-wolf by nightfall and I truly hoped that her arrival would bring good news. I worked from the study in our house rather than the one at the pack house, simply needing to be closer to my mate. From time to time I would go up to see if they needed anything and tak

Jasmine’s POV Our guests from Whitestorm pack dined with us peacefully on the night of their arrival. Throughout the meal, I was conscious of the silver eyes that watched me intently from the other end of our table. The only thing that kept me calm was the presence of my mate beside me. Unfortunately, Lena could not be of much help since she had set eyes on her mate. To say I was happy for her would be the understatement of the century. It warmed my heart each time I felt her glance up and see her gaze go straight to where her mate was seated. He in turn could not seem to take his eyes off her and it was obvious to everyone that saw him that he was completely besotted with his mate already, despite not saying even a word to each other. Though his eyes stayed on Lena, he dutifully remained at his mother’s side throughout the meal and afterwards when Nana showed them to the quarters they would be occupying during their visit. I watched as Lena’s eyes locked on her mate

Regan’s POV Arwyn. I tried to recall if I ever heard of such a name but came up blank. I had never known of anyone by that name and neither did I recall ever hearing the name before it fell from Gaia’s lips. But what troubled me wasn’t the name itself, but the reaction to the name. In all my years of knowing her, and I had known her all my life, I had never seen Nana so visibly frightened as she was at the mention of that name. Gaia herself looked so obviously uneasy that it made me worried. It did not help that I could also feel the fear in my mate as she spoke of the dream she had of the so-called Arwyn. “Who is this Arwyn?” I asked, certainly voicing out the thoughts of the younger occupants in the room. If Gaia heard me, then she chose to ignore my question because instead of replying, she grabbed my mate’s other hand from mine and held on firmly. “Show me what you saw”, she demanded and before I could reach out to pull her hands away from my mate, her body jerke

Jasmine’s POV Everything Gaia said came as a shock to me. I still found it really difficult to wrap my head around the fact that I was from the Royal bloodline. The story she told of the four sisters sounded like a tale and honestly, far fetched. But it did explain a lot. Since I was never educated and no one ever bothered to tell me anything about our origin, Gaia’s story was the closest I had ever gotten to a lesson of our history. Still, a question stood out for me, one I did not hesitate to voice out. “But if Alaric and Arwyn wiped out the Royal bloodline over a century ago, why do we still have to be afraid of them?” I asked. “They must be dead by now”, I pointed out in case someone missed it. “Precisely”, Lena said from where she was seated on her mate’s lap with his arms around her. “Is it their descendants we should be worried about?” She asked. Gaia shook her head sadly. “There is more to my story”, she said. “As I had said earlier, the Goddess of Darkness s

She also could not get over how beautiful she said Snow was. Snow had instantly taking a liking to Lena’s wolf, as I never doubted she would. And although I knew Snow was much faster, she always kept a pace that she knew Lena’s wolf could keep up with whenever we ran. We had just returned from washing up at the stream after our run when Amy ran up to join us. “Luna!” She called, panting for breath from her run. She still refused to call me by my name no matter how many times I had urged her to do so. “There’s a letter”, she said, still panting for breath. “From the Alpha”, she finally managed to get out. On hearing this, I grabbed her hand excitedly and began to pull her into another run. As she opened her mouth to protest, probably to say she could not run any longer, Lena s

Regan’s POV By the time a member of Redclaw pack came to escort us to their dining room, Luke had come to terms with the fact that he would have to face his mate, whether he liked it or not. I knew he was eager for answers to finally uncover the mystery behind his brother’s death. And so was I. But unlike Luke, I had a greater desire than that of getting answers. That desire was to see Luke finally happy, with his mate. I had always been able to read people easily, or at least feel their aura. From just our one meeting, I could tell that Luke’s mate, Zara, was not an evil person. Simply a protective and suspicious one. As we arrived at the dining room, we were ushered to our seats. Seated at the head chair of the dining table was who I knew was the Alpha of the pack, simply because of the aura I perceived from him. He looked frail and I could easily tell that he would not last too much longer. His daughter was seated to his right, and other ranked members of his p

Jasmine’s POV Since I had no choice in the matter, I took amusement from wherever I could. At the moment, the amusement I derived from the expression of disbelief on the face of my former mate was one that brought me immense satisfaction indeed. He remained standing in the same spot since he had seen me, with his Beta beside him. “So it is true then?” He asked again, the disbelief suddenly giving way to an emotion I did not quickly realize. “She has already said that it is”, Lena replied hotly from where she way seated. He finally broke his gaze away from mine to shoot her a heated glare. “And who might you be?” He asked with a threatening growl. Before I could open my mouth to warn him to not speak that way to her, her mate, whose hand remained possessively on her shoulder, spoke. “She is my mate”, Alpha Gaius said, the warning clear in his tone and the brief flickering of his eyes that warned that his wolf was not so far from the surface, ready to attack any threat

Regan’s POV It did not take us long to arrive at Redclaw pack once my request to be accepted into the pack was granted. A part of me had thought it would have been rejected and was quite satisfied with that since it meant Luke would be spared the emotional torture the meeting might turn out to be for him. All the same, he rode beside me with a straight face, obviously deep in his thoughts that I did not dare intrude upon. A part of me suddenly wished we had not come with horses. It meant our quest would have been faster in a sense. We could have run in our wolf forms to arrive at the packs we had to visit. However, three concerns had made me decide otherwise. The first was that we had planned to visit several packs, which meant we had to come with a lot of gifts for each pack we visited, hence why we had to bring along two carts. Running in our wolf form meant we would have had to carry all those tributes and gifts and would have left us exhausted very quickly, especi

Jasmine’s POV After my judgment on the mother and daughter who had lied against Amy, I noticed that members of my pack began to treat me differently. And not in a bad way. If they had treated me with anything close to respect, due to the fact that I was their Alpha’s mate, they now treated me with respect and admiration. Lena had ensured that my sentences on the mother and daughter were carried out. More than anyone, she had been proud of how I had handled the case and took great joy in narrating the occurrence in great detail to Nana and Mari, who had been disappointed that they had not been present to witness the even for themselves. Amy and Emry’s mother, who worked closely alongside Nana at the healing house was full of thanks, even going as far as shedding a few tears, to express her gratitude for how I had come to her daughter’s rescue. Like her daughter, she was a quiet she-wolf who had lost her husband years ago and worked at the healing house to provide for her

Regan’s POV After getting Stonghold pack’s pledge, we visited six more packs that gave similar responses, all pledging to come when we called. Since each pack we visited insisted we dined with them and even spend the night before continuing our journey, as was customary hospitality among werewolves, I could not turn them down without being disrespectful. Especially since I had come to seek their aid. This simply meant that our journey took longer than originally planned. I had to write to Nana to tell her that all was well with us after receiving several spelled messages from her and Gaia, all enquiring about our well being. I knew that Jasmine would be the most worried of everyone back at home. And that was the last thing I wanted, to worry or upset her in any well. It would not be good for both her and our pup. As we rested in the rooms provided for us by the current pack we were visiting, a knock on my door drew my attention from the map I had been observing. I immediat

Jasmine’s POV It was hard to cope with Regan and Luke’s absence. Especially that of my mate. I prayed so much more than I usually did for the success of their mission and for their safe return home. Concerning things at the pack, I did not have much to worry about. Regan had done an incredible work of preparing all that I would need in his absence. As he had earlier said before leaving, his Gamma handled the day to day routine and managed quite well, only coming to me when my guidance or authority was required. And I was not required much. With everything else, Nana and Lena never left my side. Always ready with help or advice whenever I would need it. Their presence made the absence of my mate bearable. Gaia had decided to check on me and the pup each day, to know if there was any immediate threat against us and how to avert it. It eased my worries each time she told me everything was well. • Revenge on Blackmoon Pack    Chapter Sixty-Two

Regan’s POV Since it was my first time being away from her, I found it somewhat difficult to adapt to the absence of my mate. Rage’s whining was not helping. He felt her absence more than I did since he felt my emotions more intensely. Even though he understood the reason we had to go, it did not stop him from sulking and whining at the absence of our mate. A part of me wanted nothing more than to turn around and return home, but it would be the wrong decision to make and I knew that. So we rode on, keeping a steady pace and rode towards the opposite path from where Blackmoon pack was. The fact that we took an entirely different route simply to avoid them spoke a lot of our hatred for them. We headed towards the next closest pack to us, a pack whose Alpha was an old friend of my father’s. I sent two of my warriors ahead to announce our arrival, and not too long after, they came back with news of the Alpha’s acceptance to have us in his pack. When we met up with a

Jasmine’s POV The day I had been dreading finally came. I woke up once again to an empty bed. Since that was not anything new, I simply readied myself for the day before making my way out of the room. I joined Lena in the kitchen of our house and together, we prepared breakfast. Nana was absent, as she usually was due to Gaia’s presence, and Regan’s Gamma and his mate had moved out to live in a small cabin of their own not to far away from the pack house after having their pup. Since our house had several more rooms, Gaia and Alpha Gaius were asked to move in since they were going to be in our pack longer than they had initially planned. Lena was thrilled with this development, but however pleased I was for her, I could not shake the suspicion that Regan had prepared it all to have me protected at all times. It felt like he had placed people everywhere to protect me in his absence and as much as I loved and appreciated his protective nature, there was only so much e
