The door to the Moonlit Pack’s meeting room creaked open, and Enzo Laureati strode inside, followed closely by Andrei. The room was bright, with a large chandelier hanging down and a long table dominating the center. Enzo took his place at the head of the table, directly across from his father, Damien Laureati, who was seated at the opposite end.
The six councilmen, three on each side of the table, rose from their seats as Enzo entered. In unison, they bowed their heads and greeted him, “Welcome, Supreme Alpha.” Enzo acknowledged them with a brief nod and a raised hand, indicating they could sit. His hair was tied into a messy bun, with a few loose strands falling over his face. Enzo settled into his chair, crossing his legs with his elbow propped on the armrest, supporting his head. He gazed across the table at his father, his expression bored and mildly irritated. “Why have you called me here? I've been busy all week, and I’m exhausted, so whatever it is, make it quick.” His father frowned, his jaw tightening as he regarded his son. He knew Enzo was well aware of the purpose of the meeting, yet he insisted on playing ignorant. “You know why you’re here. Yesterday, you brought back a girl—” “Yes, I did,” Enzo interrupted, nodding slightly. “And do you have a problem with that?” Damien scoffed, trying not to make his frustration too obvious. “Of course I have a problem with it! Why would you bring a random person into our pack? You know it’s forbidden.” Enzo closed his eyes briefly, inhaling deeply before exhaling slowly. When he opened his eyes, he looked at his father. “First of all, lower your voice. It's quite irritating. Secondly, I know it's against protocol to bring someone from another pack in, but quite frankly, I don’t care.” Before Enzo could continue, Fredrick, one of the councilmen seated to the left, cleared his throat. Fredrick was a middle-aged man with pale skin and a bald head, and he seemed uneasy as he spoke up. “Supreme Alpha, you must understand that bringing a random girl into the pack could be dangerous. We don’t know who she is or what her intentions are. She could pose a threat.” Enzo's gaze shifted slowly to Fredrick, his eyes twitching. “Did you just interrupt me while I was speaking, old man?” Fredrick’s face paled, and he glanced around the room, realizing that he had fucked up. The other councilmen shifted uncomfortably in their seats, exchanging worried glances. Enzo snapped his fingers and looked up at Andrei, who stood by his side. “Slit his throat." The councilmen and Mr. Damien gasped, staring at Enzo with wide eyes of disbelief. Mr Damien sprang to his feet, his chair scraping loudly against the floor. “Enzo, have you lost your mind? You're ordering for a councilman to be killed!” Andrei nodded without hesitation, drawing a dagger he always kept on hand for emergencies and moving towards Fredrick, who sat frozen in fear. Andrei grabbed Fredrick’s head and tilted it, exposing his throat before positioning the knife on it, ready to cut. Enzo watched the scene unfold with amusement, a chuckle escaping his lips. He raised a hand, signaling Andrei to stop. “That’s enough. Let the old man go.” Andrei halted instantly, stepping back with the dagger still in hand, awaiting further instructions. The councilmen exhaled in relief at the same time, though their faces still looked terrified. Enzo turned to the rest of the councilmen, "Let this be a warning. The next time any of you interrupt me while I'm speaking..." He paused, letting them feel the weight of his words before sitting back into the relaxed position he favored. His eyes locked onto his father. "Now, where were we?" Damien glared at his son with deep hatred. He never liked Enzo due to his attitude. His son never listened to a word he said ever since he became the pack's leader. Enzo was never the type to be controlled, and that made Mr. Damien hate him more, but of course, he has to keep all that hatred to himself. Clearing his throat, he leaned forward, his voice now much calmer. "You clearly don’t understand, Enzo. These rules were set for a reason. You need to get rid of that girl at once." Enzo's face remained unfazed, but then he suddenly let out a deep, throaty laugh, making the councilmen shiver with fear. "Or else what, Father? That girl is not going anywhere unless I say so. I intend to make her one of my servants. If anyone in this room except my father objects, speak now." The room fell into silence. The councilmen glanced at one another, but none dared to speak. The authority of the Supreme Alpha was not to be taken lightly, especially after witnessing what almost happened to Fredrick a few moments ago. None of them were willing to put their lives at risk because of some girl. When no objections came, he stood up, smoothing down his clothes and turning towards the door. "Very well then; I shall be on my way now. I have more important things to do." He walked toward the door, which Andrei opened. But just before stepping out, Enzo halted and turned back to face the room once more. "Don’t try anything funny. If I hear that girl got even a scratch because of any of you, I’ll make you all pay." His finger pointed accusingly at his father. "Including you, Father." Enzo’s lips curled into a mocking smile as he continued, "I am the Supreme Alpha of this pack. Whatever I say is what will happen. Remember that." With those final words, he turned and strode out of the office. The room fell silent, the only thing that could be heard were the heavy breaths of the councilmen. Mr. Damien sat up straight and suddenly slammed his fist down on the table. The councilmen flinched at the sound, turning their heads towards Mr. Damien as his gaze swept over them. "You’re all useless! All of you get out of my sight, now!" The councilmen quickly gathered their things with their heads bowed and rushed out of the meeting room.Adeline slowly came to consciousness as the morning sun’s rays streamed through the window, shining directly at her face. Her eyelids fluttered open, and she let out a groan as she turned her head away from the blinding light. She blinked against the brightness and rubbed her forehead, feeling a bit dizzy. Sitting up slowly, she took in her surroundings. The room was expensively decorated, with rich furnishings and luxurious curtains hanging over the windows. She ran her hand over the massive bed she had been lying on. "Where on earth am I?” she murmured to herself. She stared down at nothing, trying to piece together how she had ended up in such a place. Gradually, the memories came flooding back—the attack, the gunshots, her father. She looked down at her arm, which was wrapped in clean bandages, and nodded. “So it wasn’t a dream after all.” Throwing the blanket aside, Adeline swung her legs over the edge of the bed and stood up. She glanced down at the dress she currently had on
Enzo shook his head, leaning back in his chair with a smirk on his lips. He seemed to be enjoying Adeline’s frustration. “It sounds ridiculous that your entire pack was wiped out, just like that.” He let out a throaty laugh, pinching the bridge of his nose as if the thought was too absurd to take seriously. “Didn’t they have any sort of defense? Are the alphas in your pack a bunch of weak idiots?” Adeline’s gaze dropped to the floor, her fists tightening by her sides as the memory of the attack replayed in her mind. She had no words to respond to his mockery at the moment. Enzo waved a dismissive hand at her, as if brushing aside her pain. “None of that matters now.” He leaned down to her height, flicking a finger at Adeline's forehead and making her flinch. “From this moment on, in return for me saving your life, you’ll be my servant.” He paused, letting his words sink in before continuing. “And you will address me as Master or Supreme Alpha.” Adeline’s eyes shot open wide, shock
Adeline’s hand trembled slightly as she stared at Enzo. Without another thought, she yanked her right hand free from his grip and slapped him hard across the face. “Shut up! Just because you saved my life once doesn’t mean you get to interfere with whatever the hell I do.” For a moment, the world seemed to freeze. Enzo’s head had turned slightly from the force of the slap, and his chest rose and fell with each heavy breath. Slowly, he brought a hand to his cheek, feeling the sting where her hand had connected. His canines elongated immediately, indicating that he was not just annoyed anymore; he was pissed. No one had ever dared to raise a hand against him—not even this father, who was second in command in the pack. But this girl, this mere omega, had the audacity to not only challenge him but to strike him. His first instinct was to snap, to let his rage take over and put her in her place. Any other person would have been dead before they even completed the swing, but something
Adeline sat on the floor, sighing every few seconds as she stared blankly at the room around her. For the first time in as long as she could remember, she felt like giving up. That thought made her even more angry and disgusted that she even thought of such. She flicked her hair back with a scoff, rolling her eyes. “I’m getting the hell out of here, and nothing is stopping me.” She slowly got up and marched over to the desk beside her bed, yanking open the drawer. Inside, she found a few rubber bands, a brush, and a hairpin. Her eyes narrowed as she picked up the hairpin, a memory flashing in her mind. She recalled her father’s survival lessons, especially the one where he taught her how to pick locks with a hairpin in case of emergencies. She chuckled, amazed that something she barely paid attention to could be her way out. She crouched in front of the door, bending the hairpin carefully until it took the shape she needed. She chuckled to herself as she inserted it into the key
Enzo leaned in, letting out a throaty laugh that sent goosebumps all over Adeline’s spine as his hot breath brushed against her neck. “Not so fast,” he murmured, finding her dumb attempts to escape funny. Adeline’s grip on the door handle tightened as she squirmed under his hold, her body trembling with a bit of fear. But no, she wasn’t about to let him drag her back without a fight. “Let go of me!” she demanded, hitting his arm with her free hand. Enzo paused, his grip loosening slightly as if he were considering her words, but then he released her hips completely and moved closer to the door. He reached out with his large hand and easily pried her fingers off the handle, one by one, as if they were nothing more than a child’s grip. Holding her hand up, he raised an eyebrow and looked down at her with an unfazed, almost bored expression. “You’re no match for me, Adeline. Give it a rest.” Adeline shook her head, raising her free hand, and hit him in the chest, hoping that maybe i
Enzo, noticing her reaction, snapped his fingers to get her attention. “I had these set up for you earlier,” he explained, gesturing towards the closet while keeping an eye on her at the same time. With how stubborn she was, she might just try to run again. “Hurry up and get changed. I’ll be waiting for you downstairs.” Without waiting for a response, he turned and left the room, leaving Adeline standing in the middle of the closet. She walked over to the neatly arranged rows of clothing, running her fingers over the fabrics. Everything was soft, luxurious, and clearly expensive. For a moment, she felt like she was in a dream—or maybe a nightmare. It's not that she wasn't used to things like these. Her father was quite rich too and often spoiled her. But this was beyond rich. The guest room alone, minus the closet, looked better than her room back in the Crimson Pack. She picked out a simple outfit: a black long-sleeve turtleneck top and comfortable blue jeans, along with a pair o
Adeline didn’t realize at first who the man standing before them was, but the way he looked at her coldly made her instinctively move closer to Enzo, seeking some form of protection. She shifted slightly, half-hiding behind him. Enzo glanced down at her, amusement flashing briefly in his eyes. He turned back to his father, crossing his arms. "Do you need anything, Father? I have somewhere important I must be, so I have no time to spare." Adeline blinked, her stomach dropping when she heard the word "father." Her heart skipped a beat as her fear deepened. If Enzo’s attitude was any indication of what his father was like, she could already sense that this man would be far worse. She tugged lightly on Enzo’s shirt, trying to remain hidden. Enzo raised a brow at her nervous gesture before his hand reached back, gripping her waist gently and nudging her forward. Adeline froze as he pushed her into the spotlight, her feet unwillingly moving her in front of him. Now standing directly
The pack's gates loomed in front of them as they drove out, the mansion growing smaller in the distance. Mr. Damien remained in the same spot, his figure dark against the entrance. His arms were crossed, and his expression had hardened further as he watched his son drive off with Adeline. Just then, a pack member approached from behind—a standard alpha by rank. His steps cautious as he had noticed Mr. Damien's foul mood from afar. The man bowed deeply as he stopped a few paces behind Mr. Damien. “Sir, I was told you called for me.”Mr. Damien barely spared him a glance, his eyes still focused on Enzo’s car in the distance. He raised a hand, motioning for him to come closer. “Forget that. Enzo just left the packhouse. Follow him and find out where he’s going.”The man, Leo, walked up to him and gulped audibly at the mention of Enzo’s name. Fear was evident in his eyes. The thought of trailing Enzo—an unpredictable Supreme Alpha—made his body tremble. Whoever did that clearly has a dea
