Chapter 37: Blame

The warehouse was filled with Iris’ painful sob. And although I thought of not leaving her alone, Wade pulled me out as he stepped out of the warehouse like nothing happened.

“How about her?”

He chuckled, “Are you for real? After what she did to Evan and Zoey you still care that woman?”

“I feel bad for her,” I admitted, bitting my lower lip as Wade threw me a concerned look.

It took him a couple of seconds before lifting his right arm to caress my left cheek with his palm and leaned in, whispering, “Don’t.”

Wade walked past me to hop inside his car while I was left right outside the warehouse. My feet decided to slightly turn around while my head tilts to take a quick peek inside.

Iris was still on her place, hugging both her knees with her face buried in between them.

No matter how bad I wanted to talk to her, not as a friend but at least as a woman, I knew she would just push me away.
