Jake's POVIt had been hours since Audrey took her leave to rest before we discussed the state of the pack with her. She should have been awake by now but apparently, she wasn't because we had been waiting. The werecouncil had not minded waiting for her to wake up from her nap when informed that she wished to rest. Now however, they had become impatient and were already complaining, all feeling insulted by the Lycan kingdom. Was this actually what the Lycan kingdom planned? But Audrey wouldn't accept to do such, would she? Audrey would never accept to mess around with her elders just to show superiority like the werecouncil assumed she was.Audrey wouldn't abuse the privilege she had received to become a princess, the princess, of the Lycan kingdom. That was just Audrey though. I didn't know of Princess Emerald, because all this had made it obvious that Princess Emerald wasn't my friend, Audrey. They were two different personalities and I wasn't sure if Audrey was erased to create Pri
Audrey's POVI turned slowly with leaden feet on hearing Kendrick's voice call me and met his green eyes fixed on me."Is there anything you want? Why have you been following me?""Audrey...", he began but I raised up a hand."The Audrey you are looking for is dead, Princess Emerald is all that's left of her and you would do well to address her properly," I snapped then dropped my hand and his eyes narrowed slightly."Fine, Princess Emerald. I'm sorry for not addressing you as I ought to," he sighed."As you should be. Now what do you want?", I asked him while maintaining a fiery look on my face."How can you ask me what I want? You were informed before you retired to your room that we had arranged a meeting between some of the people of the pack and you. We even informed you that they were already prepared to meet with you but you said you needed to rest first and we let you do that," he complained."So if you truly agreed to me taking my rest, what is this confrontation about?", I f
Kendrick's POVEveryone in the room suddenly kept quiet as Audrey announced that we would have to fulfill a condition before she would decide to stay in the pack. I didn't like the sinister smile on her face presently and was desperately hoping that she would ask for something we could give to her."What I want to have before I can decide to stay in this pack until the blood moon and do whatever you all need me to do on that day is...", she began and I shivered slightly. "The rulership of this pack," she concluded and it felt like a bomb was dropped in the room.My ears suddenly hurt as if the pressure in the room was too much and the men immediately began muttering amongst themselves in confusion and outrage."Princess Emerald, what is this about?"Jake was even composed enough to try challenging her. I couldn't even move any part of my body due to the extreme shock. Was this the reason why the haughty Lycan kingdom stooped low enough to send their princess here? So that they could t
Jenni's POV I was in the royal garden with the maids overseeing as they gathered the flowers that would be placed in the flower vases inside the palace when I noticed men trooping out the doors of the palace. I figured that they were the werecouncil members and the other people who Kendrick invited to welcome the Lycan Princess which turned out to be that brat, Audrey. That suspicion made me pay more attention to them and I noticed that their body postures were totally giving off annoyance and so much negativity. I was too far off to know exactly which emotions they were radiating but it was obvious they were annoyed. Or did Audrey not come out to see them? That stupid girl had told us that she was going to check out her room and rest a little bit shortly after she arrived. We couldn't try to stop her or convince her to just see the people who were waiting for her so we let her go off. The werecouncil members and the other men even believed that she wouldn't take too much time
Kendrick's POV Audrey and Jenni were standing face to face, their eyes locked in a heated stare-down and I could do was stare at them. Why did Jenni act so rashly? Why was she losing her calm so easily these days? The fate of the pack was fully dependent on Audrey at this point in time and Jenni knew that. Why was it that all she wanted to do right now was still to pick a fight with Audrey despite knowing that? "Why would I mind my tone while speaking to a weakling who merely became someone important by accident?" Jenni growled. "I'm still more important than you could ever be, whether by accident or merit so shut your mouth," Audrey fired back. "I can't believe you would even think about taking control of my pack, Who do you think you are?" "Why don't you ask me that in a few days when I've become the ruler of this pack?" Audrey replied, her voice calm and steady. "Rulership of a pack is the job of the Alpha and Luna, why are you trying to go against the general rule of werew
Audrey's POV I can't believe that the fool Kendrick married had actually come here to yell at me. I had been tempted to leave her shouting at my door till she realized how stupid she was but Kendrick and Jake just had to come and start dragging her away. That was so boring. Since I was bored anyway and wanted to see for myself how despondent they were, I decided to step out of my room for a moment. After all, I could just walk back in if I realized that the situation was not as entertaining as I thought it would be. It turned out to be quite interesting though... Jenni kept yappering and something about her unprovoked hostility made me feel like we knew each other when I was still living in this pack. But where could I have known her from that she would be so hostile towards me? I never annoyed anyone while I was in the pack, they only bullied me for no reason. That kind of hostility could only be as a result of a beef between the both of us. I didn't remember anything though, I
Kendrick's POV I paced back and forth in my study with my thoughts racing faster than they had in a long while. I knew what I had to do, but that didn't make it any easier. I took a deep breath and turned to face Jake. "Jake, I've made a decision," I began firmly. "What decision exactly?" Jake questioned. "About the situation with Audrey," I muttered and took another deep breath. "I'm going to hand over my position as Alpha to Audrey," I breathed out and Jake's eyes widened in surprise. "What?" He exclaimed. "You know that she demanded it in exchange for helping our pack, it's the only option that we have right now," I spread out my arms in a shrug and Jake shook his head in disbelief. "Kendrick, you can't just decide to hand over your position like that." "I know but Audrey's reaction yesterday has proven that she will not back down in her request to get rulership of the pack before she would stay here and help us. Besides, she has obviously been trained as a lycan princess
Kendrick's POV I could hear my strides echo as I walked through the corridor in the palace making my way to Audrey's room. It was the morning of the fourth day and we hadn't received any reply from the Lycan King which meant just one thing; I had to hand over power to Audrey. There was no other way if I wanted her to remain in the pack and give us her assistance. As I approached Audrey's room, I could feel my heart pound harder and harder in my chest. By the time I arrived at the door, my palms were filled with sweat. I couldn't believe that I had made this decision three days ago but I was still so reluctant now that it was time. I took a deep breath and knocked on the door only to get no answer. I knocked again, this time louder but still got no response so uneasily tried the handle. It was improper to open a female's room like this and I definitely wouldn't do this if this was a normal situation but I was presently desperate. She had said that she would leave on the fourth da
