Chapter Eleven

Elena's POV:

“Mason has Alexithymia.” Vivian replied.

“What is that?” I asked, already worried.

“A person suffering from alexithymia finds it

difficult to understand emotions and also finds it hard to express themselves. It is a personality trait characterized by the inability to identify and describe emotions in the self.” She explained.

“So in summary what you are trying to say is that your brother Mason has a low E.Q?” I asked, rhetorically.

“Exactly.” She replied.

“Has he always been this way? What I mean is, was he born this way? With the whole Alexithymia and all.” I asked.

“Not really, it was something he developed along the line. According to his therapist, Mason had subconsciously shut down his Limbic System located deep within the brain, which also consisted of parts like the: Amygdala, Hippocampus, Hypothalamus, Prefrontal Cortex, Anterior Cingulate Cortex (ACC) and Insula.” Vivian explained.
