Chapter XXVIII

Little Girls

Teacher Rory nodded as I stared at her without uttering anything. “We came from the same nation, Renata, but the only difference was I grew up here and you grew up on the island.”

She sighed. “It’s surprising, I know, but I’m letting you know this because I want you to trust me.”

Trust. This woman was basically asking me to trust her just because we share the same history of ancestors, but who knows if her mind was already corrupted?

I stayed silent. I shouldn’t let my guard down. I shouldn’t trust her. No matter what, I should stick to my fake identity. I’m not a Cidgian. I’m not from Atolon. I am a Madreese. I was from Delural. That’s what I should be in front of their eyes.

“People forgot about us, Revi. It’s upsetting that the government hid a sin and we didn’t even have a chance to punish them. They moved on, continued spreading chaos, and proudly raised their flags in wars as we—or shall I say you and your fellows that are hiding in the island, living

It was Stellan's voice. My lethargic self looked at him. I'm confused for a bit. "W-when did you wake up?" There's something in me . . . which I cannot explain. There's a feeling in me that Stellan should be asleep, or maybe I'm just hallucinating. I guess this is the consequence of pouring out my energy yesterday. I played overtime.I closed my eyes. "Revi, it's almost noon." After hearing his voice, I tried to sleep again. I . . . want to rest. After playing a lot of games with those kids, I ran out of energy."Revi, let's play!" Agh, her

Fritz and Dion are at the stalls, searching for foods they want to eat later for the picnic near the river, while Stellan and Leones are with me, watching the two brats who were excited to eat and fight over foods.I looked at Leones. He has been quiet since ealier. Maybe he’s thinking of something or maybe his father’s words continued bothering him. Sadness can be seen on his face. I can do nothing but stare at him. I'm not a clown to make this dude happy—or maybe I can, just manipulating myself that I can't.I sighed. "Do you want an ice cream?" I looked at him and smiled.Leones looked

I know it's his job, he almost had no time for me, we rarely talk. “That's okay, Revi." I looked up at Vida. "Instead of feeling sad, just understand your father. Perhaps the ministry is talking about your departure from Atolon." I sighed. "That isn't true." What Vida says is impossible. Those people who were sent

Chapter XXVII Walking Paradox Part 2 I went back home quietly as Father was peacefully sleeping in his bedroom. I better not wake him up. Hoping to end this all, I closed my eyes and tried to sleep without having nightmares or hallucinations. Hours passed, and I wasn’t able to go back to sleep. My body never had the urge to rest, so I spent the hours staring at the lonely luminous moon. Although I didn’t sleep again, I found myself never being restless. It was strange yet I was thankful for it. When the sun started to rise, I did my morning routine without waking Father up. I also cooked my own food and went to the storage room for some potatoes. Then, I went to the river once ag

Chapter XXVIWalking ParadoxI tightened my grip to the medal as I stepped forward to watch the river. It was past midnight, and I just woke up from having that unexplainable, confusing, and strange dream I had. I didn’t have any good feelings about it. It might be something my creative mind created or it might also be a message from the gods. But as much as I wanted to believe that she’s a god, a part of me said it’s ridiculous. I’m still a kid after all, with a strange mind.I decided to take a walk outside, not minding the possible dangers during night. The gloomy and dark sight of my bedroom was creeping me out somehow, and I wanted some peace of mind as it was giving me constant nightmares and hallucinations. And I knew the beauty of nature will hel

Babu was left there alone until I turned three, he decided to stay with us until the last moments of his life.We never went back to the palace, and lived normally like commoners in Rajanseth and still receive a special treatment. The palace was kept hidden under the care of the Royal Family. Only Father and the king knew where it was.I sighed and went inside the house. There I saw Father in the living room, reading a lot of documents. “Father, I’m home,” I said.Even though I knew he wouldn&rsquo

Chapter XXIV Unvalued Medal Only then did I realize that time passed rapidly as light. Everything went so fast, and everything went so peculiar for me since the day I bumped into a woman who eventually turned out to be my father’s new lover. Felix and the new girl named Thebe were lovers. Although I doubt it as my father loves Mom so much and I think he can never astray. I just have this intuition that he is just using the woman for his plans. I’m not sure. Who knows what was going on in Felix’s mind? Instead of arguing with him, I faked a warm welcome for his new lover. I acted as if I approve of their relationship. That was because I trust Father with his schemes. This was only part of his step, for sure.

  • Renata's Dream   Chapter XXIII

Chapter XXIII Renata's Caligo Oculus Part 2 Another thing, searching for the truth requires a lot of effort and I’m lazy for that. I jest, the real reason was . . . I don’t want my views or perspective about the world to change. I think I already have enough knowledge about this world. The trauma . . . almost made me go insane. I never wanted my perspective to change because of what my babu said to me before he died. “Everyone around you, Renata, is perfidious. You can’t trust anyone . . . not even gods.” Remembering that line . . . was always making me wary. “Renata.” As soon as I heard a voice, I came back into reality, a reason why the dominoes fell continuously. I groaned. It took me time to build all of this. I glanced at the person who disturbed me. Only did I realize that it was our math teacher. “Why are you playing dominoes in the middle of the class, Renata?” I frowned. “Uh . . . To help me with numbers?” I stayed silent for a moment. “Perhaps?” I released an awkward

  • Renata's Dream   Chapter XXII

Chapter XXII Renata's Caligo Oculus Something had been bothering me . . . ever since the day I heard Teacher Rory’s story about a mortal who was blessed by the gods. Hours after Teacher Rory left with Heidi and Naya—it was midnight, I felt like I just reminisced a memory that I didn’t even have. As if I was on the spot, watching that mortal’s journey. As soon as I heard Teacher Rory’s story, I wanted to correct her. Although I said I understand nothing, it was because what she told was completely different from what I saw. The main character of the story, Sator, wasn’t a mortal, but an archon and a compelling god. He wandered the celestias or universes he created with his immortal comrades but . . . a tragedy struck in the abode of the deities named Procyron. Sator was part of Procyron’s council, a group of eight gods ruling the abode of deities and celestias. The council
