After my little jump scare, he let go of me and slumped back into silence.

My heart was beating rapidly, and I wondered what had made him act that way.

The sincerity in his tone, telling me not to go, sent shivers down my spine, but I knew I couldn't stay with him. I had to go and get some things from our house.

I stroked his hair softly and gazed at him one last time before gently leaving and closing the door.

Ivar wasn't back yet, but I hoped he would be back soon so that he could watch over Dorian. I was worried and scared for his safety. I still had no idea what had happened to him the entire time he was in the Royal City.

How did doing taxes and getting relief funds turn into him running and now in such a critical condition?

I got home and felt nervous about going in. I sniffed my clothes and hoped that I didn't smell like Dorian so much. Somehow, I was determined not to let Susan know anything.
