He starts to open his mouth when the doctor walks in. Looking away from me, Carter looks to the doctor. “Alpha, you are awake. You should have called me sooner. I imagine you need some pain medication,” the doctor says to Carter. I look at him feeling guilty for having delayed getting the doctor for him. “That is okay, doc; I have been catching up with my mate,” he says as he smiles at me. I am so confused.
