After a long night of waiting and praying to the Moon Goddess, the sun finally rose. Every hour Carter made it without needing another surgery was a good sign. I was exhausted but would not leave Carter’s side. My parents, Stan, and Kinsley had all tried to get me to go and get some rest. I know Carter would want me to, but I also knew if the situation were to be reversed, he would have done the same.

“Ashley,” I call out into my mind. I had not heard from her since we had been injected with the wolfsbane.
