Everything repeats?

The return to London took place the morning after the wedding, following a lengthy visit to my parents. Timothy and I would travel back by train.

"I wish you much happiness, my daughter," Mom expressed joyfully. "Perhaps now is the time to start anew, isn't it? Everything seems different now, in a positive way, I would say."

I understood exactly what Madeleine Paggett was referring to, and I didn't think it was right to pretend otherwise. After all, everyone must have noticed the rekindling between Edward and me, even if they didn't comment on it in my presence.

Another obvious thing for everyone was the change in Edward. He was noticeably softer and more relaxed, smiling frequently and actively engaging in conversations and activities, without the sarcasm and cynicism that characterized him in previous moments.

"Thank you for the support, Mom," I said, unabashed. "But Edward and I are just talking. Who knows? We'll take it one step at a time."
