AMAYA’S POV
I had never rode in a car as exquisite as this one I was in. The two men which I had been able to distinguish between the Beta and Omega after I heard instructor Matt bidding them goodbye both sat in front while I was left all alone at the back. Lucius must have left in the car that drove off first.
A bit of relief for me. I had wondered how uncomfortable it would be riding the same car with him after what happened.
My palms felt chilly and sweaty. I rubbed them on my laps. My heart had stopped racing heavily now although I still heard it beat faintly. I tried to wound the window down to stare out of it but caught the unpleasant glare from the rear -view mirror and was forced to stop.
Everything was clear but I still had my doubts. The thought that Alpha Lucius was likely my mate frightened me. But seeing as he was bringing me to his house, I thought I was overreacting.
He was a tyrant. Although a lot of people didn't see him as such, I never really liked him. A slow poison that brought women that weren't his mates to his house, slept with them and then discard them or turn them into his servants as he wished. How could he be my mate?
Maybe I had been wrong about him. Maybe he wasn't as horrible as I always imagined him to be. Maybe he would turn out to be the best mate.
“Get down,” the two men said at the same time as if they were programmed.
I eased out of the car realising we had arrived at the Alpha's house.
My body was slipping into a nervous wreck again. But the beauty of the place hooked me the instant I stepped down. Everything and everywhere looked so magnificent. The flower beds that were so trimmed and fresh, the walk path that was duly tarred and with how neat they looked, it was obvious they were swept every day. Anyone could tell the amount of work put into all these. Definitely the Pack money.
“I think you should stop showing the entire house that we brought you from the servants quarters,” the Beta said with a mocking tone and the Omega laughed.
I was slightly embarrassed but tried not to show it. As expected, his Beta and Omega were as rude as him.
“Hurry along. We don't have all day.”
They led me into a wide room that was beautifully decorated. The chandelier shone and radiated nothing but elegance in the room. I was still admiring the room when I heard a presence behind me and I swiftly turned.
Lucius was standing right before me. His face looked more relaxed than earlier and he still looked as very handsome as the rumours and as I saw earlier in the hall and when one of his lips curled up into a small smirk, my heart squeezed.
“Hi—urhm…” I stuttered unsure of what to say or what to do. The fresh manly scent emanating from him wasn't helping matters.
“You are Amaya,” he said.
Didn't know if that was a question or statement but I nodded anyway.
He gave me a long stare and suddenly smiled smugly.
“You know, I was very curious when the seer told me my mate was in the servants house. I thought she was messing with me. That crook,” he cussed under his breath. “I believe by now you must have realised we are mates,” he paused and again gave me a long stare that made my wolf leap again.
“I don't feel too happy about it either,” I murmured.
“What?”
Shoot. He heard me.
“Nothing,” I said, making a mental note to choose the mute path.
He glanced me up and down in a disgusting manner as if I stank.
“Unfortunately, you are far away from being the kind of woman I even keep around for call nights. You are a slave transitioned into a servant. You are weak and can offer me nothing. Well, you don't look too bad. I could pimp you up for bed,” he said emphasising on the ‘bed’.
Every ounce of attraction I felt for him instantly fizzled away. My fingers curled.
He walked to the counter board and brought down a drink. “I have just one offer for you,” he said as he poured the drink into the glass. “Reject me as your mate and I will let you stay here as my personal slut.”
“I would rather die than let your filthy hands touch me!”
He stopped and looked at me. Probably shocked from my outburst. His eyes burned. Those were the moments my mother warned me to flee from. But I was already too enraged to care about his anger now. And where would I flee to?
He stormed to where I stood and gripped my hand, and in one swift movement, he threw me against the counter table. My lower back struck hard against the edge of the wood and I clenched my teeth in pain. But the pain I felt from my heart was nothing compared to it. Why were things always different when it came to me?
“You say what? You would rather die than be my slut? Fine. You get your wish. You will die but at my own time. Guards!”
The guards charged in.
“Lock her in my dungeon!”
“What are you doing? Let me go!” I yelled trying to fight off the guards.
“Making your wish come through,” he sneered.
Trying to fight off the guards seemed useless. I was outnumbered.
They took me past a series of dark corridors and finally into a bunch of cells. The oozing odour and horrible stench of the place welcomed me the moment the men shoved me inside one of the cells.
“Hey pretty slut, watch it,” the guard smacked his lips as he slammed the gate shut and when I followed his gaze it landed on two prisoners inside the cell beside mine.
“Let me go! You can't do this to me!” I gripped the rods, pushing and yelling.
“It will do you more good to stay calm,” one of the prisoners said.
I was tired and felt like breaking down into tears. I looked at the prisoners. They seemed comfortable and I almost asked them what their crimes were but swallowed my words. They said the pack was at peace but we still had prisoners.
“I stole from my neighbour, that's why I'm here,” one of the prisoners said as if he heard my thoughts.
We may have left the olden times and transitioned in the modern times but nothing about here changed. It was still being called a dungeon and the feeling of being in it remained the same.
My throat tightened and I tried to not think about what had just happened. It wasn't enough that I was mated
to a mate that clearly didn't want me but now I was being punished by my own mate.
AMAYA'S POV I didn't know for how long I had been in the dungeon but by the time I realised it, the men had dozed off and their snoring almost drove me crazy. I sat at the extreme edge of the cell. My legs had fallen asleep and pinched. I tried to get up to stretch when the guards came and started to drag me out. “Where are you taking me to?!”I was dragged back into the very last same room I saw. As I was being led in, Lucius dismissed the elders. One was staring at me lustfully as they walked off. It took me a big restraint to not spat on his fat slagged face.I wondered why he brought me out. I was never giving in to his demands. He waited until the elders were all gone and we were left alone in the room. “Have you changed your mind?”“Never,” I gritted. Where my boldness came from baffled me. But the thought of having his lustful tyrant hands on me disgusted me. I knew my refusal to his demands could land me in serious trouble. I was afraid of death and most importantly I was
NELO'S POVMy hatred for Amaya started the very day she was brought into the servants house. Before her arrival, even though I was nothing but a servant, life was fairly perfect for me. Until that day when she walked into the house and everything changed. I was shining so bright until she appeared and dimmed my light. She always found ways to steal my moments. And then she’d cover it with her pretentious smile and fake words of care. I hated it. Hated it more that the only way to shine was to be friends with her. I hated it so much that ever since she stepped foot into the quarters, no one recognized me again. I was always placed below her. It was always her. All the men that practically crawled to have me switched and lined up for her. I stopped receiving gifts and compliments. The girls that used to hover around me all clung to her and worshipped her. And just this one moment I wanted to shine again, just this moment that was meant for me, she had to be there to take it away. B
AMAYA'S POV “Get in.” The man I felt should be a guard bellowed and I snapped out of my thoughts and got into the truck. “Wait!” The man stopped me. He came over to me and sniffed me and then sneered. “What is special about you? Who are you?”“I wonder. Almighty Damian bargained such a weakling woman for a barrel of warriors and slaves and stopped us from ending that bastard Lucius.” The other man cussed. The first man hissed with irritation and ordered me to get in. I didn't see Alpha Damian as I got into the car with the two unfamiliar men and they drove off. All through the ride, I made not one sound. But my head was a mess in thoughts. It’s just so hard to grasp the reason Alpha Damian will buy me from Lucius. Why? I understand Lucius being the asshole I have always imagined him to be. It took me just one encounter to see that all I thought of him was correct. Hurt to know I was mated to someone like him. Any sensible person would prefer to suffer under Lucius than under Dam
AMAYA'S POV “Damian, you have a meeting. Quit messing with the poor girl.”“Show her around and then take her to the guest quarters,” Damian said as he hastily spun and marched away. And I swear, I saw a smirk curl up in his lips as he was turning. I looked at the pretty woman again. I was really curious why she called Damian without his title and the way she spoke… like she had some sort of power or closeness with Damian. She was looking at me as if trying to figure me out. “You must be the newest in the Mansion. Hello, I'm Nelly and the Mansion keeper. Well, simply put, you can say this whole mansion is in my care. Welcome to Emperor Mansion,” she said with a soft smile. “Thanks.”“Come on, let me show you around.”She took the lead. “We may not cover the entire ground today so I will show you the most important areas and I'm sure you are tired and would prefer to get some rest. Hope you don't mind.”I shook my head. “Good. This particular building we are in is the main building
AMAYA'S POV Thankfully the maids didn't stay in the main building. Made the whole thing easy for me. I was going to abandon the food and get on with my plan but I was really hungry and hadn't had a decent meal–no thanks to that tyrant Lucius. Plus the meal was looking too sumptuous for me to leave without having a taste. I shoved as much of it that I could down my throat and hurried to the first floor. I was doing something stupid. I knew it. But if seeing what was inside there would save me, then I had no choice but to do it. But then I arrived and it occurred to me the door was most likely going to be locked. Foolish me. Why hadn't I thought of that. Looking for the key was far-fetched. I would probably be dead already before I figured out where the key would be. Disappointed, I turned to leave but stopped. What if the door wasn't locked? It was an old door. What if pushing it a bit harder will force it to open?I went back to the door and held the knob. Slowly I turned it and to
WRITER'S POV WESTWOOD PACK“You think you did the right thing?” Jaxon, the Gamma asked. Lucius scoffed and took another sip of wine. Deep within him, he wasn't feeling alright selling off his mate to Damian of all people but who cares, he won. He did not just win, he won Damian. “What do you mean if he did the right thing? That bitch does not deserve to be here. Our warriors are still with us. No more war and that bastard Damian is off our hair. What better bargain could be out there?” Tommy shot at Jaxon. Lucius stood up, ignoring the two rambling men. “Send in the seer.”The seer of the Pack was brought in a couple of minutes after. Right from the moment she entered, her face was crumpled and she was grunting. “I found my mate and I stopped the war. Now I need something else.. Damian's throne,” Lucius began. The seer scoffed and struck her stick on the ground with anger. “I told you to find your mate, not sell her!”Lucius frowned. “What difference does it make? I found her an
WRITER'S POVNelo casted another disgruntled look at the bed. She was seated on the small and only stool in the room. It was the bed she shared with Amaya. Now she has it all by herself. Normally she should be happy. She had wished for it but why did it annoy her now. She may have gotten the bed all to herself but she was certain she may never get to rise high in rank again in the quarters. The girls were still attached to Amaya and they saw her as a bitch now. Her eyes darted to the small clock on the table. For some annoying reason, the time was unusually slow that evening and it made her impatient. She left the stool and dragged herself to the bed. Once the time beeped 10:00 pm on the dot, she got up from the bed and peeped through the window. It was already dark and she expected everyone to have gone to bed but there were still some girls hanging around. Knowing she could not leave with them still outside, she waited. Half an hour later, the compound was completely empty and qui
AMAYA'S POV “Where am I?” As soon as my eyes opened, the musky scent of improperly dried wood hit my nostrils forcing me fully awake. I was in a strange room and everything in it was unfamiliar. The room was jam-packed with all sorts of things and the bedding I lay was so thin I could feel the hard wood hard poke my back. Midway into trying to recall how I came to be there and I felt my head ache badly. I tried to slowly get up but the bed made a sharp creaking noise that forced me to halt. The curtain drew open and a woman I did not recognize entered. “You are awake. Praise the goddess,” she flashed me a smile and without saying another word she turned. Facing the exit, she called out “she's awake” and almost at the same time, Damian walked in. I froze and wished the room would cave in for me to fall into. Expecting to see the scowl on his face but got a soft smile instead. “How are you feeling?” he came by my side and asked, shocking me further. I blinked and the thick saliva
CRAVEN PACK DUNGEON “Please make sure to eat your meal, my Alpha.”Those were the exact words the guard that brought in his meal that very morning had said and for some very odd reason Damian couldn't say, both the food and the manner with which the guard had spoken kept on bothering him. Unable to wave off the bother, he decided to see for himself. Sighing, he lifted the plate and looked at the food. Nothing special. Same horrible choice of food as it had been. Since he got captured, he had tasted nothing that was given. As an Alpha that had fought wars and suffered a lot, his body was no stranger to torture and not getting food for days. As he made to drop the plate back, something white caught his eye. He stopped and glanced around to see if he was being watched–Lucius leaned on the cell rods with eyes shut and none of the guards seemed to be paying attention. He stuck his hand in and carefully drew out a folded piece of paper. He unfolded it and read: “Nelo is a spy. She spied
“My love, what's wrong?” Jungo asked softly. The frustration and helplessness etched in his face.“I know, the whole takeovers is toiling with everyone–”“I'm sorry, Jungo but we can't continue this,” Nelo muttered, throwing her face away. What was the need? Tommy now ruled Craven and Damian was in jail. The only reason she needed him in the first place was to spy on Damian. Jungo blinked, the confusion arching deeper in his forehead. “What do you mean, my love? Have I made you upset again?” He came closer to take her hand. Just like he had always done each time she got angry at him and always mellowed when he apologized but was roughly pushed away instead. Nelo flared up. She was tired of acting indifferent and yet his dumb self wouldn’t get it. “What part of my words do you not understand? When I said we can't continue whatever this bullshit is, I mean I am done with you! Don't you get it? You are not my type and everything that happened between us was a mistake! How can I possibl
Lyra headed towards the building the guards had pointed her to. They told her Tommy was in the private chambers. However, they allowed her to go see him there. Very much to her surprise. A few minutes later, she knocked once and entered the house. Again, to her surprise, the entrance door was unlocked. As if her visit was expected. She looked around, vaguely recognizing the house. Damian never let her enter. Although she could see the changes Tommy had made, there wasn't much difference when Damian used it. She swallowed hard, feeling a jolt of guilt at the remembrance of Damian but she shrugged it off and proceeded inside. “Alpha Tommy?” She called, meeting the empty cushions and room. She heard a sound coming from the bedroom and approached it. At the door, her heart skipped. She imagined Tommy getting furious at her unannounced visit. What if he gets furious at her and rejects her advances? She bit her lip and hoped it didn't come to that. She had asked the guards if he was on
CRAVEN PACK HOLDING ROOM Amaya’s eyes scanned the room they put her in. It had only one door. Aside from this one door, there was also the main gate to pass through. Her hands were firmly tied to the chair and three unfriendly eyes remained on her. It was obvious there was no way out. She ground her teeth and pressed back a frustrated sigh. A moment later Tommy strode in. “Bring the man out,” he immediately ordered. A hulk, over six feet tall with splitting muscles tracing all over his body lumbered in. Amaya’s chest tightened with alarm as the beast stomped towards her. He towered over her, the facial lines in his face burrowing deeply into his fat face. Awe looked at Tommy. “What are you going to do to me?” She questioned as she sucked in air, trembling with fear. “They don't like you enough, too bad,” Tommy muttered. “They won't give me what I want and you will have to suffer for it.”“I have nothing that you want! Let me go now!” Amaya gritted. “Oh yes, you do…your screams
CRAVEN PACK DUNGEON A guard carrying two trays containing two plates of dried bread and another small plate half filled with water stood before Damian’s cell. He looked at Damian sadly. “You will always be the only Alpha I will bow to,” he said, the veins in his neck surged with determination. “Don't feel bad. I am the one that has failed to protect you,” Damian told him. The guard placed the tray on the ground and pushed one of the plates towards Lucius' cell. Lucius gave him a look. “You will share the water but Alpha Damian will have the first drink,” the guard said and placed the water such that only Damian could reach it. Lucius hissed and kicked the plate of bread away. “I need no food or water. I don't deserve it,” Damian mumbled and pressed his jaw miserably. He then signalled the guard to come closer. “Did you check what I asked you to check?” he asked. The guard glanced around cautiously. “I am still on it. Tommy is very cautious and goes around with all sorts of bu
AMAYA'S POV “This is Nelo’s bracelet…how is it here?” Several thoughts had bombarded my head at that moment. When my eyes fell upon Lucius, goosebumps climbed my body and as he had tried to approach me, I drew back. “Yes, it is,” Lucius had agreed and further said Nelo must have mistakenly dropped it on her way out. He said he had called her out to ask her for ways to make me happy and come back to him as she was my best friend and knew me best. His story made sense but Nelo never told me she was out to meet him. The beeping of the clock sounded abruptly, reminding me of my environment. I shook my head as if shaking it would push the many thoughts and questions flooding into them away. This wasn't the time to doubt. If anything, I was the worst of all. I betrayed Damian. I let Lucius use me to bring him down. How could I ever forgive myself for it? My chest tightened with resentment for myself. But I didn't want to keep feeling self pity and doing nothing. Damian's eyes as he w
As the men tore the brown file apart, Alpha Lucius laughed maniacally. Their eyes registered shocking disappointment at the discovery of the blank white paper in the brown file. Tommy sneered and slammed the file on the ground. “Tell us where the deed is or else you will be dead,” he demanded furiously. Alpha Lucius continued to laugh. Now it was their turn to be filled with anger. “Traitors!” he sneered. “I will kill you!” Tommy grabbed his throat and choked. Alpha Lucius did not stop laughing even as Tommy's grip tightened around his neck and the pain traveled through him. He knew they would not kill him until they found the deed. They needed the deed badly. Alpha Kael pulled Tommy away, reminding him they needed Lucius alive if they were to get everything they needed. “Tell us where the deed is and your life will be spared,” he demanded, bending to match Lucius' height. Lucius heaped his saliva and spat at his face. “I don't know where it is,” he said with a clenched jaw. This
Early the next day, Alpha Lucius was ready to go show the Alphas the land as agreed. He was dressed in a fitted leather jacket atop dark distressed jeans. His combat boots were sturdy, especially functional and enhanced his commanding presence. Despite the oozing confidence his dressing emanated, he still felt down inside. As he stared at the bedroom door, he swallowed painfully. Normally he should be losing his patience but he couldn't bring himself to. He was going to slowly warm his way into her heart. She may be angry with him for a few days but not forever. Not when he would be making her his Luna and wife officially tomorrow. Yet it ached his heart that she would rather stay away from him than accept his love. “Please open the door, Amaya,” he begged. For another minute not one sound came from the door. “I just want to say something to you before I leave. I'm about to leave with Tommy and the other Alphas. Please open the door. Just this once.”To his surprise, the sound of
While the big meeting hall echoed and shook from the booming laughter of men, Alpha Lucius had his beauty sleep. He may be an Alpha but he knew he still needed rest and had specifically warned to not be awoken unless for an emergency. Now that he had conquered his worst enemy and Amaya was with him, well, partly, he might as well sleep the sleep he had deprived himself of for many years. As soon as he woke up, all he thought about was Amaya. When he brought her into the Alpha’s quarters, she had run into the bedroom and locked the room. All his efforts to get her to open the door failed. Sighing , he pushed aside the duvet he’d borrowed from Raze and strode to the bedroom door.“Amaya, open the door. You need to eat something at least,” he called. A knock sounded on the main door halting him. It turned out to be one of the guards who had come to inform him of the ongoing jubilation in the meeting hall. Lucius frowned. “Party in the hall? Who authorized such a party?” “Beta Tommy
