AMAYA'S POV
I didn't know for how long I had been in the dungeon but by the time I realised it, the men had dozed off and their snoring almost drove me crazy.
I sat at the extreme edge of the cell. My legs had fallen asleep and pinched. I tried to get up to stretch when the guards came and started to drag me out.
“Where are you taking me to?!”
I was dragged back into the very last same room I saw. As I was being led in, Lucius dismissed the elders. One was staring at me lustfully as they walked off. It took me a big restraint to not spat on his fat slagged face.
I wondered why he brought me out. I was never giving in to his demands.
He waited until the elders were all gone and we were left alone in the room.
“Have you changed your mind?”
“Never,” I gritted. Where my boldness came from baffled me. But the thought of having his lustful tyrant hands on me disgusted me. I knew my refusal to his demands could land me in serious trouble. I was afraid of death and most importantly I was afraid of the sadness that came with rejecting your mate bond but then I was more afraid of yielding to his arrogant demand.
“Oh, you haven't changed your mind. I believe more hours in my dungeon will change your mind.”
“No… get away from me!”
I was wriggling away from the guards that were dragging me back to the dungeon when another guard dashed in.
“Alpha Damian is here and he is causing trouble. He is beating up the guards. What should we do?” the guard announced.
Alpha Damian? The most tyrant of them all.
I noticed instantly how Lucius' eyes changed. Understandable. No one ever wanted to be in the same space with Damian. He was that notorious.
“You are asking me what to do?” Lucius stomped his legs on the guard and that one groaned.
“Get out ! Bastards! Morons!” he barked, then turned to the guards supposed to be leading me back to the cell and ordered they take me away.
“Let me go!” I continued to yell.
He spun at me angrily. “You have refused to take my orders. I am only giving you this chance for our bond sake. Now don't push me. Take her back to the dungeon and don't feed her until I say so!”
The beta seemed to be irritated with my resistance and came to help drag me to the dungeon.
“Wait…stop there.”
There was a voice from the hallway by my right but due to the guards gripping my arms I couldn't see who the voice belonged to. The guards stopped. I heard heavy thuds aiming towards me and I struggled for a moment to figure out who it could be.
Then came the voice, “Raise your face.”
I didn't realise when the figure stopped in my front but I heard him speak.
My face was lowered and my eyes rested on black shiny boots. My chest was pounding. That ominous voice. It was never familiar but something about it felt like terror.
And then it clicked. Alpha Damian of Craven Pack! The cruellest of all Alphas I had ever heard of. His wickedness renewed every new day and was worse than the previous. He did things that trembled even prominent Alphas. People reported that sometimes he killed one when he didn't like their smell or hated their walking steps. He dished out orders to kill like they were nothing. The only Alpha known to have conquered many packs while leading the war front by himself.
I felt the chill creep up my skin. Honestly I would prefer being punished under the hands of Lucius than falling into the hands of a monster like Damian.
“Didn't you hear the man? Raise your bitchy face–”
I heard a sharp groan and that had me staring up immediately to see the Beta that was gripping me seconds ago struggling to catch his breath as Damian's fingers curled around his neck.
“Allow her,” Damian said calmly and when he glanced at me our eyes hooked. Deep, black, eerie and yet a strange warmth that had my wolf kick. Two contrasting feelings. I wasn't one to cower in front of Alphas but the aura around him was deafening and I quickly stared down again.
“Step away from her,” he ordered my captors “And you, keep your soft hands to yourself.”
He must be referring to the beta because I heard his angry foot slam. Saying one had a soft hand in the pack was like an insult. It showed you were a weakling.
“No, you step away from her!” Lucius' voice rumbled. At this point looking down was inevitable. The two dangerous Alpha was about to have a face off and I was in the middle of it.
Dear moon goddess, save me.
“You are the one that should step away from her!” Lucius growled. “Take what my elders and I have agreed to offer you and leave.”
Damian laughed. His laugh was deep and surprisingly nice to hear. How could anyone with that kind of smile be that wicked?
“You want to pacify my anger with some servants and slaves? What would your weakies do for me huh? Be more creative, Lucius. I have enough of those. You know what, I will have her.”
I must have heard wrong as my head lifted and I looked from Lucius to Damian in confusion. And in one flash, all the news I heard about Damian reared up in my head. My head suddenly began to ache. I squeezed my eyes shut. I had to escape now. This was my chance.
In the background, Lucius’s voice boomed. “She is my mate– sex mate precisely. You can't have her.”
“Her and the servants and slaves.”
“Her. No servants and slaves.”
“Don't be greedy. I'm making things easy for you. You think those warriors of yours will survive my wrath?”
“If you want her then no warriors and no slaves or servants. Otherwise…”
Lucius came by my side and started to touch my face. It was hard not to understand what was going down.
“You are threatening me with her?”
“It seems you truly want to have some of her honey pot…”
“Fine.”
“Thank you for not being entirely useless,” Lucius whispered into my ears.
“I, Lucius, reject you as my mate with no regrets. She is all yours,” he added, smacking his mouth.
Funny, isn't it. I was present in my own sell off by my own mate to a cruel Alpha. my head imagined a thousand things in split seconds. What would he do with me? The thought of it sent shivers down my spine.
All the stories I had heard of the many possible horrible things he could do to me chose that time to rear up in my head in the most horrifying ways.
NELO'S POVMy hatred for Amaya started the very day she was brought into the servants house. Before her arrival, even though I was nothing but a servant, life was fairly perfect for me. Until that day when she walked into the house and everything changed. I was shining so bright until she appeared and dimmed my light. She always found ways to steal my moments. And then she’d cover it with her pretentious smile and fake words of care. I hated it. Hated it more that the only way to shine was to be friends with her. I hated it so much that ever since she stepped foot into the quarters, no one recognized me again. I was always placed below her. It was always her. All the men that practically crawled to have me switched and lined up for her. I stopped receiving gifts and compliments. The girls that used to hover around me all clung to her and worshipped her. And just this one moment I wanted to shine again, just this moment that was meant for me, she had to be there to take it away. B
AMAYA'S POV “Get in.” The man I felt should be a guard bellowed and I snapped out of my thoughts and got into the truck. “Wait!” The man stopped me. He came over to me and sniffed me and then sneered. “What is special about you? Who are you?”“I wonder. Almighty Damian bargained such a weakling woman for a barrel of warriors and slaves and stopped us from ending that bastard Lucius.” The other man cussed. The first man hissed with irritation and ordered me to get in. I didn't see Alpha Damian as I got into the car with the two unfamiliar men and they drove off. All through the ride, I made not one sound. But my head was a mess in thoughts. It’s just so hard to grasp the reason Alpha Damian will buy me from Lucius. Why? I understand Lucius being the asshole I have always imagined him to be. It took me just one encounter to see that all I thought of him was correct. Hurt to know I was mated to someone like him. Any sensible person would prefer to suffer under Lucius than under Dam
AMAYA'S POV “Damian, you have a meeting. Quit messing with the poor girl.”“Show her around and then take her to the guest quarters,” Damian said as he hastily spun and marched away. And I swear, I saw a smirk curl up in his lips as he was turning. I looked at the pretty woman again. I was really curious why she called Damian without his title and the way she spoke… like she had some sort of power or closeness with Damian. She was looking at me as if trying to figure me out. “You must be the newest in the Mansion. Hello, I'm Nelly and the Mansion keeper. Well, simply put, you can say this whole mansion is in my care. Welcome to Emperor Mansion,” she said with a soft smile. “Thanks.”“Come on, let me show you around.”She took the lead. “We may not cover the entire ground today so I will show you the most important areas and I'm sure you are tired and would prefer to get some rest. Hope you don't mind.”I shook my head. “Good. This particular building we are in is the main building
AMAYA'S POV Thankfully the maids didn't stay in the main building. Made the whole thing easy for me. I was going to abandon the food and get on with my plan but I was really hungry and hadn't had a decent meal–no thanks to that tyrant Lucius. Plus the meal was looking too sumptuous for me to leave without having a taste. I shoved as much of it that I could down my throat and hurried to the first floor. I was doing something stupid. I knew it. But if seeing what was inside there would save me, then I had no choice but to do it. But then I arrived and it occurred to me the door was most likely going to be locked. Foolish me. Why hadn't I thought of that. Looking for the key was far-fetched. I would probably be dead already before I figured out where the key would be. Disappointed, I turned to leave but stopped. What if the door wasn't locked? It was an old door. What if pushing it a bit harder will force it to open?I went back to the door and held the knob. Slowly I turned it and to
WRITER'S POV WESTWOOD PACK“You think you did the right thing?” Jaxon, the Gamma asked. Lucius scoffed and took another sip of wine. Deep within him, he wasn't feeling alright selling off his mate to Damian of all people but who cares, he won. He did not just win, he won Damian. “What do you mean if he did the right thing? That bitch does not deserve to be here. Our warriors are still with us. No more war and that bastard Damian is off our hair. What better bargain could be out there?” Tommy shot at Jaxon. Lucius stood up, ignoring the two rambling men. “Send in the seer.”The seer of the Pack was brought in a couple of minutes after. Right from the moment she entered, her face was crumpled and she was grunting. “I found my mate and I stopped the war. Now I need something else.. Damian's throne,” Lucius began. The seer scoffed and struck her stick on the ground with anger. “I told you to find your mate, not sell her!”Lucius frowned. “What difference does it make? I found her an
WRITER'S POVNelo casted another disgruntled look at the bed. She was seated on the small and only stool in the room. It was the bed she shared with Amaya. Now she has it all by herself. Normally she should be happy. She had wished for it but why did it annoy her now. She may have gotten the bed all to herself but she was certain she may never get to rise high in rank again in the quarters. The girls were still attached to Amaya and they saw her as a bitch now. Her eyes darted to the small clock on the table. For some annoying reason, the time was unusually slow that evening and it made her impatient. She left the stool and dragged herself to the bed. Once the time beeped 10:00 pm on the dot, she got up from the bed and peeped through the window. It was already dark and she expected everyone to have gone to bed but there were still some girls hanging around. Knowing she could not leave with them still outside, she waited. Half an hour later, the compound was completely empty and qui
AMAYA'S POV “Where am I?” As soon as my eyes opened, the musky scent of improperly dried wood hit my nostrils forcing me fully awake. I was in a strange room and everything in it was unfamiliar. The room was jam-packed with all sorts of things and the bedding I lay was so thin I could feel the hard wood hard poke my back. Midway into trying to recall how I came to be there and I felt my head ache badly. I tried to slowly get up but the bed made a sharp creaking noise that forced me to halt. The curtain drew open and a woman I did not recognize entered. “You are awake. Praise the goddess,” she flashed me a smile and without saying another word she turned. Facing the exit, she called out “she's awake” and almost at the same time, Damian walked in. I froze and wished the room would cave in for me to fall into. Expecting to see the scowl on his face but got a soft smile instead. “How are you feeling?” he came by my side and asked, shocking me further. I blinked and the thick saliva
WRITER'S POV WESTWOOD PACK ROSE BUCKS10:30 PMNelo glanced at herself in the mirror for the umpteenth time. She was dressed in a red dress and for the first time in a while she felt she cleaned up real good. But all for what?At the gate that night at Tommy's house, he had specifically told her to come in a red dress. She hissed with Irritation. If he wasn't a Beta, then she would have been forced to classify him as a psychopath. She was irritated but she had to do what she had to do. Staying back in the servants quarters was no longer an option. The spiteful looks the girls give her was enough. Her only card of finding a better life lies with the bastard, Tommy. The taxi stopped her in front of Rose bucks. She arranged her scarf on her head before proceeding into the place. Rose bucks was a famous spot for prostitution. Married men take in sluts and single men pay young girls to be fuccked. “You are here,” Tommy acknowledged with a lustful stare down her body the moment she step
Nelo paced around her room. Every second she stopped and stared out of the window, expecting, hoping and praying that somehow her biggest fear would not happen. She hoped that Amaya would have gotten her letter. Although she would have hoped that somehow she didn't and that Damian would overcome and win the assassins on his own. But that was what she couldn't hope for. She had made sure to drop the Aetherleaf in his study. There was no way he would defeat those assassins after inhaling that. She sighed regretfully. She regretted it. She really did.She didn't want anything happening to Damian. She wished she didn't have to make difficult choices like this one. Damian was her end point. But then again she had to do what she had to do. She'd decided to stay back in her room and waited as everything unfolded. But when she heard Nelly barking orders at the guards and at the maids and everyone she saw, she knew it was better to be out. It would be suspicious if she remained in her room wh
AMAYA'S POV I returned to the park and sat on a bench. Outside was calm. Everyone looked so happy and it was like I was the only one feeling this enormous turmoil. Beside me was a family and on my other side were two lovers. They giggled and I couldn't help but notice how they stare affectionately at each other. They saw only themselves. They probably didn't even notice I was beside them. “Mummy! Daddy!” the little kid called out to her parents. She looked so happy as she ran into her father's waiting arm. At that moment, it faintly occured to me the kind of trust children had for their parents. The trust that he would never drop her, that his arms are strong enough to catch her and hold her no matter what. It reminded me of my parents too and it made my heart ache. Everyday I prayed to not wake up one morning and discover that I had forgotten their faces. I clung onto those memories of them I had because they were all I had. I briefly shut my eyes to bask in them. To remind mys
Damian tried to launch an attack but then he stopped. His eyes widened. His body was not feeling the same. Something was wrong. Something was wrong. Was it because of Amaya? His fist curled. The whole set up suggested Lucius must have found out about Amaya's strength and seeing she was away from him decided to strike. He tried not to panic but it was as though the weakness of his body doubled with creating in him the one attribute he detested so much—fear. “Run Damian. Run out of the room and alert the guards.” The warning echoed in his head. But he inwardly shook his head, remembering vividly those words, those words that he had lived by all his life. “I am Alpha Damian. I do not run in the face of adversities. I am the leader and protector of Craven. The day I run from danger is the day I become useless.”No matter how weak his body had become he would not run away.“Did Lucius send you?” He clenched. “Answer me! Did that loser send you!”The men began to circle him like wolves,
Lucius sprung from his seat as if suddenly overcome by something and charged outside. Tommy and Jaxon were at the door and just about to get in when he dashed outside. “Call them back!” he yelled. Tommy and Jaxon stared at him, puzzled. “I said call the men back! They are not to kill Damian!” he repeated authoritatively. “What?” Tommy was stiffened as he leaned back stunned. “We can't pull off now,” he said, eyes narrowing. “I didn't say we, I said pull off,” Lucius gritted, emphasizing on the ‘I’. “Call them back. They must return to Westwood immediately.”“You can't pull off the operation now!” Tommy slammed. “Are you challenging me?” Lucius questioned, taken aback. Their gaze held…long, icy, air thickened with unspoken tension. Lucius' jaw was set and firm as fury brewed within him. He could not believe Tommy was talking back to him. His own beta! After a moment, Tommy stepped back and gave a strained chuckle. ”I would never do that, my Alpha. I'm just saying this is the bad
“Speak, what is it?” Lucius demanded, trying to contain his annoyance. Like what was so urgent Jaxon had to make him leave Amaya at that moment. What better time would he get to be in such proximity and calmness with her again? “It better be something important,” he added, his face wrinkling. “The elders are meeting behind your back,” Jaxon revealed. “What?” Lucius leaned back, forehead burrowing deep. Anxiety etched deep into his face, the irritation on it replaced with a mixture of worry and disappointment. He'd always known they were a bunch of greedy elders but he didn't think they would start this early to show their hidden claws. Things were beginning to look good for him. He stifled a groan. “When did this start? Are you just knowing about it now?” He asked Jaxon. “I'm sorry but we have been so focused with Balus and your mate–”“Who started it? Chief elder? What is their reason for betraying me? Why can't they trust in me?”“Their reason remains that you have yet to fulfil
AMAYA'S POV Blown off by Lucius' sudden request, my mouth hung open. But then we heard a shrill cry before I could speak. Someone had collapsed. Grateful for the interruption, I darted over to the place the sound came from. It was later realized that it was a prank by some of the arena keepers. Some of the people that were around complained about the silly prank before returning to what they were doing. “Do you care for anything?” Lucius asked as we went back to our position. “Uhm–”“Wait here. I will get us something,” he said hastily and hurried away before I could refuse. “Amaya,” I heard someone call my name less than a minute after Lucius left. I turned and there was an elderly woman beside me. Surprised, I scanned around to check if she had company. I hadn't heard her join us. “I am alone,” she replied like she had read the question in my mind. “How did you know my name?” I asked, still trying to grasp the whole thing. She smiled. “I would be damned not to recognize gr
Damian looked at the wine cabinet yet again. They were begging for his touch, begging him to have a taste. He exhaled wistfully, forcing his gaze away from the direction. He must stay sober. If not for anything, to think on how to handle the matter at hand. This last month had changed him. He didn't know what it was or how it had happened but deep within him he knew it was something about Amaya. He could not let her go as she wanted, yet he couldn't keep her. But what baffled him was how she knew about what the Seer had told him. He was actually planning to tell her the truth. He was on his way to tell her everything. How had she found out before he told her? He sighed for the zillionth time, massaging his throbbing temple. He hadn't had a restful time ever since she left the house. “You should go find her,” Raze suggested, breaking into his thoughts. Damian sat up, suppressing a grunt. He would have gone after her as she was leaving if it was that easy. He saw the hurt in her e
AMAYA'S POV I had no idea where I was headed. I was unsure of absolutely everything. I was scared, confused, hurt, battered inside but still determined to keep walking. All I wanted was to just leave. Everything felt so exhausting and I knew I would probably choke to death if I stayed there for another second. I thought he cared about me now. I was foolish. How could I have believed someone like him. How could I have trusted a power hungry Alpha like him. He would never change. I should have known. The thought that I went the extra mile and pleaded with him to seek out the Seer on my behalf pained me the most. All the while he knew how to help me but kept it away from me. I should have known when he bought me…I should have known when he was willing to let go of hundreds of warriors and servants just to buy me. I had thought he saved me from Lucius…I should have known when he didn't kill me despite knowing I entered the forbidden room. I let out a laugh and I wished I didn't hear i
The significant mood lift in Amaya's behavior was quite noticeable to everyone. So obvious it baffled both Nelly and Lyra who were among the ones that looked at her like she was covered with poop after the news spread. After they had breakfast and since they had nothing to do for the rest of the day, Amaya decided to retire to her room. “What’s going on? You finally don't care about people knowing you don't have your wolf. Strong girl,” Nelo teased with a small nudge. Amaya laughed heartily. “No it's not that… it's just…Alpha Damian will help me,” she said, grinning, their conversation at the stream replaying in her head. Although he hadn't given her an outright answer because Raze interrupted. But he listened to her and that itself showed he cared. “Hmmm,” Nelo murmured. “Why? You still don't trust him? He is not as bad as you think…well, he may be difficult some times but look beyond the scowl on his face and you'd see the real Damian.”Nelo gave a shrug. “Still, he murdered hi
