NELO'S POV
My hatred for Amaya started the very day she was brought into the servants house. Before her arrival, even though I was nothing but a servant, life was fairly perfect for me. Until that day when she walked into the house and everything changed.
I was shining so bright until she appeared and dimmed my light.
She always found ways to steal my moments. And then she’d cover it with her pretentious smile and fake words of care.
I hated it. Hated it more that the only way to shine was to be friends with her. I hated it so much that ever since she stepped foot into the quarters, no one recognized me again. I was always placed below her. It was always her. All the men that practically crawled to have me switched and lined up for her. I stopped receiving gifts and compliments. The girls that used to hover around me all clung to her and worshipped her.
And just this one moment I wanted to shine again, just this moment that was meant for me, she had to be there to take it away.
Before she came, I had dreamt several times of when Alpha Lucius would visit and take me home with him.
Amaya never cared about romance or getting her mate. I was the one they labelled attention seekers each time I told them of my wish for the Alpha to notice me. They called my dream and wish fake. She called Alpha Lucius a clueless tyrant yet she fell into his arms like some spineless jelly.
Alpha Lucius would have seen me if she wasn't there. It should have been me that followed the Alpha home. Why did she have to be there and ruin things?
Ever since the night Alpha Lucius took her away, no one had heard from her. As usual, all we lived on was the rumours. Some say Alpha Lucius is planning to marry her because she is his mate while some say he prefered to make her one of his many call girls or his concubines. I was practically tired of hearing about her all the damn time! Even in her absence, all they talked about was her.
Clenching, I wanted to go over to the group of girls and punish them severely on the basis of idling away instead of working but the words I heard made my feet glue to the ground. So badly I wanted to leave there and not hear one single thing about Amaya this and Amaya that again. But my legs and ears seemed to be connected.
“You think Amaya is probably in bed with Alpha Lucius right now, huh.”
“She will probably just be his slut. I doubt she will make it to the list of concubines. She is pretty no doubt but she is nothing but a servant.”
“Doesn't matter. All that matters is she gets to live in such a luxurious house. She will feed well and won't have to scrub pots or rub some oldie bellies!”
“I heard the servants don't do anything with their hands. They use these modern machines for everything. Even to sweep and clean. Can you believe it?”
“She is one lucky girl, isn't she? Alpha Lucius visits for the first time and she gets the chance to follow him home.”
“You think the Alpha chose her because she is the most pretty around here? I'm guessing instructor Matt mentioned her to the Alpha. I mean, how did he go straight to her? Isn't it strange?”
“You are right. Now that I think of it. She must have been chosen because she is pretty. Lucky girl. I feel for Nelo and Selene. They always get shadowed because of Amaya.”
“That girl Nelo deserves it. Wasn't she a nasty bitch before Amaya came?”
“You are right. She was so mean.”
I didn't realise how tight my fingers had curled until a knuckle cracked. Enough to attract the attention of the girls. Once they saw me, they hurried away with more bad things to gossip about me.
The pain of knowing the moment I waited for many years was given to someone else on a gold platter. As I went back to my room, all that echoed in my head was Amaya’s happy voices and laughs. Flashes of her enjoying in Alpha Lucius house while I slaved away here.
I liked him first. I wanted him first. I wanted Lucius first!
Furious, I stormed to instructor Matt's office. Thankfully the jerk let me in.
The sight of him disgusted me. Was he that much infatuated with Amaya or was he just bribed?
“So what is it you said you wanted to tell me, Nelo?”
“It’s about Amaya.
“What about her?”
“There's something else she does. She goes to the training centre to train
“I have punished her for that.”
“She went there on the very morning the Alpha came to visit.”
“What? She did?”
He didn't seem exactly furious the way I expected him to be.
“And she uses the machines and equipment—”
“Okay. You may leave now. I have noted all you said and will act accordingly.”
“Erm, I'm sorry but will she get punished?”
“Of course she will. She violated the house rule of the house. Isn't that the reason you reported to me? But unfortunately there's nothing I can do now. She is being held captive in the Alpha's house.”
“Captive? Why”
He frowned. “That is the decision of the Alpha and not mine. Now get back to your work.”
Trying to get more information from instructor Matt would be beating up the wrong tree. He really looked clueless.
“Amaya is imprisoned?” That wasn't what I heard.
If truly Amaya was imprisoned, then why?
As I returned to the servants house I had a lot of questions. The question wasn't if Amaya was truly imprisoned but the fact that I still had my chance to go for the Alpha. And this meant entering the lion's den.
AMAYA “Why do you always train this hard? We are not allowed to go to war like the men and by the way, there's no more war, in case you forgot,” my best friend Nelo mumbled with a frown as we tiptoed down the corridor. “And really, com'on. Things have changed. We are no longer in the olden days where the packs go to war all the time and everyone can join in just because they can shift into their wolves and—”“Shhhh.” I quickly shushed her and pinned her to the wall as I heard footsteps approaching. “No, for real, tell me honestly. Why are you pushing yourself too hard? Or wait… don't tell me you are hoping to find favour in the eyes of Alpha Lucius?” I waited until the footsteps became distant before I let my hand free. “No way…” she stared at me with her eyes wide and then gasped. “What?” I arranged the warrior kit on my body half listening to more of her unproven and mere gut-feeling suspicions. Knowing Nelo, she was about to say the most ridiculous thing. And of course she di
AMAYA'S POV “I know too,” I whispered back and we glanced at Nelo whose eyes were firmly rooted at the entrance in anticipation. Nelo's eyes may have been the one focused on the entrance but truthfully I was the most anxious. I didn't understand the reason for the way my heart was racing. “Shhh! Shut your mouths or I shut it for you girls!” Instructor Matt bellowed at the top of his voice again. The thudding sound of what I imagined to be from the boot of a heavy sole sounded against the floor and a few seconds later Alpha Lucius walked into the hall with two men following closely behind him. The hall went silent instantly so much you could hear a tiny pin drop. “Bow your heads! Don't you dare look the Alpha in the eyes!” instructor Matt barked. “Didn't they say we were now living in the new times,” I scoffed inside me. “They do everything modern but where they draw the line is when it comes to bowing for a tyrant.”“Greet your Alpha!”My voice wouldn't be heard anyways so I did
AMAYA’S POV I had never rode in a car as exquisite as this one I was in. The two men which I had been able to distinguish between the Beta and Omega after I heard instructor Matt bidding them goodbye both sat in front while I was left all alone at the back. Lucius must have left in the car that drove off first.A bit of relief for me. I had wondered how uncomfortable it would be riding the same car with him after what happened. My palms felt chilly and sweaty. I rubbed them on my laps. My heart had stopped racing heavily now although I still heard it beat faintly. I tried to wound the window down to stare out of it but caught the unpleasant glare from the rear -view mirror and was forced to stop. Everything was clear but I still had my doubts. The thought that Alpha Lucius was likely my mate frightened me. But seeing as he was bringing me to his house, I thought I was overreacting. He was a tyrant. Although a lot of people didn't see him as such, I never really liked him. A slow p
AMAYA'S POV I didn't know for how long I had been in the dungeon but by the time I realised it, the men had dozed off and their snoring almost drove me crazy. I sat at the extreme edge of the cell. My legs had fallen asleep and pinched. I tried to get up to stretch when the guards came and started to drag me out. “Where are you taking me to?!”I was dragged back into the very last same room I saw. As I was being led in, Lucius dismissed the elders. One was staring at me lustfully as they walked off. It took me a big restraint to not spat on his fat slagged face.I wondered why he brought me out. I was never giving in to his demands. He waited until the elders were all gone and we were left alone in the room. “Have you changed your mind?”“Never,” I gritted. Where my boldness came from baffled me. But the thought of having his lustful tyrant hands on me disgusted me. I knew my refusal to his demands could land me in serious trouble. I was afraid of death and most importantly I was
