"That doesn't make sense." I refused to accept that the video I just watched was real. "Is that video doctored, Alpha Zegulf?"The man's right eyebrow shot up. Then his mouth curved in a smile. "Your defence is that the video was probably doctored?" He asks, pinning me with his gaze."So what do you want me to believe? You suddenly found a hidden camera, and luckily, the camera caught everything that happened. Are you kidding me?"Alpha Zegulf shakes his head, "you look so cute when you try to make your point known.""You've not answered any of my questions yet." I remind him, and he takes a deep calming breath before he replies in his usual jovial tone."The video is not doctored, Firefly. And it didn't miraculously fly into my hands. I sought for it. I needed the proof too."I slide him a cautious glare and he reciprocates with a sweet smile. "So what are you trying to prove with all of this then? That Gideon wanted to have me killed?"~Xyana~ 'PIG, FAT, and UGLY' have become names I'm now accustomed to. I used to think myself beautiful until recently. All thanks to our Alpha's rumored mate, Oksana. Ever since she started deriving pleasure in dehumanizing and abusing me because she thinks I'm too fat for her liking, my life got enveloped in an endless stream of never-ending chores. She'll call me 'Pig' over and over again and I'll always answer her with a 'yes ma'am.' She makes sure I don't get to enjoy a moment of rest during the day. I work at the farms, at the pack daycare, the kitchen, I scrub the floors; I literally do everything. Yet she's never satisfied. ** Today, Mrs. Sal, the pack's Matron, assigned my best friend, Jiya, and me to clean the Alpha's living room. She must have taken pity on me and decided to give me an easy task that I'd spend most of my day doing. As Jiya and I focus on our assigned task for the day. I suddenly feel the hairs on my neck prickle. A dull pull follows, drawing
~Xyana~ I stumble behind Gamma Reeder, shame oozing through me with every step. My mind is still reeling from Alpha Kedar’s words, the disgust in his voice, the name-calling, and the humiliation that burns deeper than the wounds Oksana physically inflicted on me. My wolf "Juno," whimpers in my head, confused and heartbroken. 'He's ours,' she repeats weakly, but I can feel her spirit gradually dying down as if she too is beginning to accept the harsh reality. The pack members whisper as I pass, their eyes filled with cruel amusement. I catch glimpses of mocking smirks, and knowing looks exchanged between them. They revel in my humiliation, every single one of them. "Pathetic," someone scoffs. "How can this fat thing try to fight a real wolf?" Another voice says. "She attacked our soon-to-be Luna." I hear someone else accuse me from the crowd. I clench my teeth, swallowing the lump in my throat. I will not cry in front of them. I refuse to give them that satisfaction. We f
~Gaston~The pain I'm feeling is excruciating; my head is spinning uncontrollably as my chauffeur, Killian, keeps driving farther away from the source of my pain."Pull over," I tell Killian. The car hitches to a stop almost immediately and he stares at me through the rearview mirror, his face lined with worry.I groan into my palms painfully as my veins go through bouts of painful constrictions. "What can I do, Alpha?" Killian asks."Turn the car around," I tell him, "and drive until I ask you to stop."He nods and kicks the car into gear, pulling it into reverse. We started heading back to the same route we were coming from. A few minutes into the ride, the maddening pain starts to fade gradually, getting replaced by an unbearable intense pull that is almost pulling me out of the car."Killian, stop the car." I groan. The car halts instantly. I push outside, staggering towards the nearby woods; the exact direction of the unbearable pull. I don't have the time to tell Killian what
~Xyana~ Slowly, consciousness comes to me in painful waves. My body feels heavy like it’s been weighed down by thick rocks, and my mind is foggy, struggling to piece together the last thing I remember. My eyelids feel like they’re glued shut by an external force, causing me to force it open. The first thing I see is a high, vaulted ceiling made of dark wood. I try to sit up, but a sharp pain shoots through my ribs, forcing me back down. A gentle hand presses against my shoulder, and I turn to see a man with kind eyes and a stethoscope around his neck. A doctor, I presume. “You have to take it easy,” he says softly. “Your body is still recovering." He places two fingers on my wrist to get my pulse reading. "What's your name?" "Xyana." I reply. "You're welcome to Gurreo-Valley pack, Xyana." He offers that comforting smile one can easily find amongst health workers in hospitals. "Do you recall how you got here?" He adds. Firstly, this man said that I'm at the Gurreo-Valley pack.
~Xyana~Two days later, I wake up feeling better than I did a couple of days ago. The memory of my first day here is still fresh in my mind.'Is any of this really happening or is this just the Moon goddess trying to play tricks on me?'Alpha Kedar denied me almost a week ago and now I have three men fighting over me. The only word to describe any of this is 'surreal.''You think you're special now?' Juno laughs at me, 'keep being stupid.'"Whatever did I do to you, Juno? I'm not the reason Alpha Kedar refused to acknowledge us. He just didn't want to."'He told you why.' Juno insists."He said I'm worthless, and I'm not!" I yell. "It's okay if he chooses Oksana as his real mate. But I'm not worthless, neither am I spineless."'But you're an Elephant, a Pig, fat...' "Don't say those words to me, please." I plead with my wolf. She snorts and starts sinking back inside, 'suit yourself, Pig.'I shut my eyes as the pain of her words hit me. She's waiting, watching, hoping that I'll count
~Xyana~"I can't feel my mates," I say out loud, the distress in my voice, evident as I pace the room I'm assigned to.Breakfast was hectic and I don't even blame any of my mates if they're upset. If the Moon goddess deemed it fit to give me second chance mates, that only means she understands perfectly that right now, I'm so alone with no one in the world to turn to.But I'm failing them; I'm failing my mates; I'm failing the Moon goddess, and it's all because of Juno, my wolf, who has refused to do her job."How long do you plan on shutting out our mates, Juno?" I ask her. She yawns and stretches out a bit, acting unconcerned. "Juno?"'As long as I wish.' she snaps."You're pushing them away. Their wolves are trying to connect with you and you're shutting them out."'So? What should I do with that information?.'"But you're a part of me for crying out loud. We ought to be working together, hand in hand." I try to make her see things from my own perspective.'The Moon goddess forbid
~Xyana~"You're winning," Oona says grumpily. I wasn't so eager to play chess with a pup her age, but her Nanny reassured me that Oona always plays and is good."She's good at the game," Declan says from the door. "She truly is," I reply to him. I may be winning the game, but Oona isn't making it easy for me either. He walks into Oona's game room and takes a seat, all smiles. "I've been meaning to spend quality time with you, Pretty. But the pack is preparing for the annual mating ceremony which happens yearly for us. So, we're working harder on getting more warrior recruits to toughen security." He explains."An annual mating ceremony? When will that be?""You would be surprised, because it's still a few months away. About three months and a couple of days.""And the warriors are already taking their training seriously?" I ask him."Yeah. Can't remember that stuff they say about powerful preparation." He winks at me as Oona packs up the chess board. She walks past me with the boa
~Xyana~"You have to answer me," Clifton says, climbing on the bed and pinning my arms above my head while his frame towers above me. "Your wolf called me an Abomination, didn't she?""I'm going to scream." I let out the only words that came to my mind."And you think that would stop me? Was it your wolf, Xyana?" He presses on."Gaston says to follow my cue and not to overwhelm me," I tell him instead. "It looks like your presence..." "I'm not playing this game with you." He growls, cutting me short. He lowers his body and whispers in my ear. "You are my fucking mate. I have the right to know."My heart skips a beat as I feel his breath in my ear, making me mewl softly. "And you, mine," I say, panting inaudibly."You believe so?" I nod. "So as your mate, can you listen to me by letting me go?" I try another approach. He chuckles, "nice try, Baby. In case you have no idea, it's going to take a while before my brothers finds us. So, I have all the time in the world."Alarm bells ring
~Xyana~"That doesn't make sense." I refused to accept that the video I just watched was real. "Is that video doctored, Alpha Zegulf?" The man's right eyebrow shot up. Then his mouth curved in a smile. "Your defence is that the video was probably doctored?" He asks, pinning me with his gaze."So what do you want me to believe? ~Xyana~Nobody came to my room again after Alpha Zegulf left. Within that brief moment of being alone, I checked for the possibility of escaping the room, and as I'd suspected, it was nil.The windows are barricaded with protective bars, the door was locked from outside and even the bathroom window was barricaded.I'm so confused and speechless. Juno's absence makes it worse. Why in the goddess's name can't I feel her? What's wrong?I'm still battling internally when a knock comes on the door and a few seconds later, Alpha Zegulf pushes the door open. His presence makes me feel unsettled.I quickly adjust and sink into the bed more. He waves his hands, shaking his head. "Don't do that, Xyana. I would never hurt you." He tells me. "Don't run away from me."I simply stare blankly at him while still squeezing my frame away from him. He brings a tablet forward. "Can I sit?" He asks, pointing to the space on the bed.I shrug, "this is your house.""An
~Gaston~It's stupid to leave my pack in pursuit of my brothers' mate. But a lot of things aren't adding up and I seriously wish to get to the root of everything as soon as possible. So Rhen, Clifton, and I left the pack in pursuit of the vision Rhen and I saw of Xyana. A vision I can feel its faintness within me, one that doesn't feel like Xyana was there anymore. But that is not something I think I should share with anyone just yet. Not until I'm certain of what exactly is happening. The vision Rhenat and I had pointed us to Xyana's location which was in the outskirts of Gurreo-Valley. I let Clifton drive us while typing out messages to one of my most trusted allies. Getting to my pack's border is a long journey of its own unless the individual shifts to their wolf form and runs the distance. Most times I wonder why werewolves stress themselves so much with cars and motorbikes when an average werewolf can run faster than both.I guess civilizat
~Xyana~The next morning or afternoon, 'I've lost track of time,' but the next time I wake, it is already bright. I'm greeted by an influx of maids who explain that they're here to literally help me settle in. 'Settle in, how?' Shouldn't the Alpha be talking about sending words to Gurreo-Valley? At least he knows the pack I come from. So why is he sending Maids to help me settle in?I don't miss the fact that my wounds are barely painful anymore and the one on my arm looks dried up. The doctor must have done a lot with all the Intravenous injections from yesterday. And that reminds me that the healer didn't come again. I try to feel Juno again, but still nothing. Now I'm extremely worried. But I'm not sure it's wise to bring up my worries with Alpha Zegulf. It's bad enough that my wounds aren't healing as they ought out considering the fact that I'm a werewolf. So complaining about my wolf will only make my savior question my existence. Firstly, t
~Clifton~Rhenat the witch got smuggled into the pack house by my brothers and me, while Gaston made sure to create enough distraction to keep the guards occupied.Rhen was the last witch to leave our pack after our parents' death. There was a great war between the vampires and the witches while we were still babies. The witches were killed and slaughtered. A few of them who managed to seek help from our pack were kept safe and hidden away until the war came to an end.Lots of them left after showing great gratitude to my parents by helping them around the pack. But Rhenat stayed back. She made friends with my mother while she was still hiding away, and she was the only witch amongst the others who found out what my mother was, and the fact that Gaston had gotten my mother's rare gift, as we chose to call it back then. However, things later went south after our parents' death. The battle of the supernatural is a never-ending one. Each day, various supe
~Zegulf~I made sure Xyana was properly covered before inviting the Witch and the Alpha's Cabal into my room.I'm certain she won't wake up until the Witch is done because of the sleeping spell that would be cast on her. Ezra, Roldolf, and Thaddeus are standing close to the door while Kadila, the Witch, sits on the floor, and I take a seat on the bed beside Xyana, my fingers entwined with hers as we wait to hear from Kadila. She takes her time to attend to Xyana's wounds first as I ordered, before starting on the other reasons she came. It takes a couple of minutes before she smiles. "Her Wolf is simply hiding away. She doesn't want to take part in any of this." Kadila tells us."Her wolf is a coward?" Ezra asks from his position close to the entrance."Shh," Roldolf scolds him. "Don't speak about the Moon-made like that. Her wolf must have a reason for hiding away."Thaddeus is about to join in their conversation when I lift my hand and s
~Xyana~"You're an Alpha?" I ask the Alpha as he steps into the car."Yes."His expression softens, and then he grabs my face and shifts closer like he's studying a particular spot on my face. "I'll help you clean up when we get home." He says simply, his gaze pinned on me."You mean your pack house?" I croak out."Yes." "I can clean up by myself."His mouth curves into a smile as he leans back onto the car seat. "You and I know that's not even possible. You're hurt, I'll help you. I'm only offering help. Nothing out of the ordinary." I dart my eyes around, determined to look at anyone but him. Settling my gaze on my hospital gown, I nod at him. "As long as you'll help with just my hands, face, and legs.""Oh, I'll help with everywhere." He tells me and I freeze, slipping him a curious glare as well. He laughs tenderly, "Just kidding." He says. "I'll take your cue, always."There is something about the way he stressed the last word that
~Zegulf~Once the meeting with the Cabal is over, I head back to the hospital, moving straight to Xyana's ward. I get there just in time to see the Doctor administering a dose of IV injections via her IV lines."Alpha!" He bows to show his respect."How is she?""She seems way better than when she got here." He replies simply."Any improvements on her wounds?"He shakes his head. "It's healing at the rate humans heal.""Thank you for the hard work," I tell him and earn another bow before he matches out of the room, leaving me alone with my unconscious Moon-made.As soon as it is just the two of us, I take a seat beside the bed and sniff in the air until her scent hits me hard in the nostrils. Eric, my wolf, unfurls beautifully and drags forward in appreciation as the beautiful scent engulfs us. Is this what Gaston Howling experiences every single day? If it is, then why would he let her out of his sight? If I were him, nothing in this world
~Zegulf~ It's exhausting waiting behind to hear from the doctor. I shouldn't even be seated here. I should be having a meeting with a few of the pack elders I nominated into the Alpha's Cabal. They need to know that I have the Moon-made. It should be a thing of celebration and a big blessing to our Pack. But somehow, Xyana's health and welfare seem to matter most to me right now. 'Why isn't she healing? Does Moon-mades not have functioning wolves?' "We have to meet with the Cabal." My Beta, Xavier, reminds me via mind-link, and I frown at him. "Alpha–" "Stop it, Xavier." I cut him off. "I'll go once I'm certain she's okay," I respond via mind-link. Thankfully the doctor chose that moment to step in. "So?" I snapped at the innocent man. "Her wounds have been disinfected and treated–" "Are you going to tell me, or do you need me to rip it out of your throat?!" I bark at him. "Alpha," he b
