Chapter 5
Three years ago Iris POV "You will be working as my kid's maid henceforth," Alpha Lorenzo says to me with his dark eyes glaring hard at me, and I gulp down nothing as I feel my heart beating rapidly against my chest. Although it has been a couple of months since I have been here in the Grave Claw pack, but working in the castle has never crossed my mind. I gulp down nothing nervously as I stare at the man I met three days ago at the fountain. After that day, I have always wished to see him again, little did I know he is the Alpha of the pack. Standing in front of him with his dark aura consuming me now, I feel like my heart is going to explode anytime soon. "While working as my kid's maid, I don't want them to complain about you... I don't want them to have any reason to cry, and if you scold them, you will have your ill luck to blame for it," He further utters, while having his attention on the book he's reading, and that makes me even more scared. I don't think I can do this, considering my short temper, but who am I to say no to the Alpha? He's definitely going to kill me because he's ruthless and heartless. "Yes, Alpha," I bow my head slightly. "You will move into the castle and start work immediately. You may leave now," He utters, not sparing me another glance. I sigh in relief, turning to leave his study when his voice brings me to a halt again. "One more thing..." He pauses, followed by the sound of the book he was holding, dropping on the desk, and I quickly turn to face him. "You need to get checked first before you can work as their maid. I wouldn't want you infecting them with some diseases," He says those harsh words to me, and I slowly clench my fists as I feel my blood boil in rage. If it were to be someone else, I wouldn't have been mute over it, but when it comes to Alpha Lorenzo, even the courageous one would melt at his aura. "Yes, Alpha," I reply to him before I turn and finally stride out of the room. "Phew! That was close," I release the breath I've been holding once I'm out of the room, running my fingers through my hair. Waking up here in the Grave Claw Pack three months ago with my head blank and no memories of who I am, has been the most difficult thing that has happened to me, and now I'm stuck here for as long as I can't remember who I am. I have no idea about what happened that ended me here in the pack, but according to the head maid that I woke up in her house, she told me that she found me clothed in blood along the wood the night of the full moon, and she never seemed to know what happened that ended me there. While staying here in the pack for the past three months, the woman has tried her best to hide me from the werewolves so the Alpha won't find out about it, but I messed everything up three days ago, and I guess this is my fate. If only I had stayed back at home and not gone to the fountain, maybe all these wouldn't be happening to me. Pushing all the thoughts to the back of my mind, I stroll toward the packhouse where the head maid lives alone. She is now considered my mom, since she's old enough to be, and also the one that saved me from dying. "I'm back, mom," I groan as I push the door open and drag my feet inside, slumping on the wooden chair afterward. My legs feel numb since I have been standing in the Alpha's study for hours, waiting for him to give his order and let me go. "Iris. Come and help me in the kitchen," Her voice sounds from the kitchen, and I groan tiredly. I wouldn't have hesitated to go help her, but my legs are so tired that I can barely move them. Finally forcing myself up to my feet, I walk sluggishly into the kitchen to find her cooking, and I proceed to help with the dishes since it's almost the only thing I can do here. I don't have any cooking skills, so it's fine that I only help with the house chores, right? Silence assumes the atmosphere as my mind space out to the thought of the Alpha and his children. Although I have been here for months, but the rumors I've heard about them aren't nice, so I'm scared of living with them. Just like the Alpha, I heard that his kids are also rude, arrogant, and lack respect which may make me want to discipline them later. Staying with them is as good as dead, and I know it. I guess this short temper has been in me since childhood, who knows? "What did the Alpha say?" She suddenly asks, causing me to tilt my head to look at her. I'm scared of telling her the truth, knowing she will be sad about it. According to her, she has never had a child before, and she was happy to have met me and taken me as one, it'll be heartbreaking for me to leave her just like that, but then, I can't hide the truth from her since I must leave. "He asked me to move into the castle and work as his kid's maid," I release the news to her, and the spoon she has been using to stir soup falls from her hand. "Why? You can't leave... I will talk to him... I will talk to the Alpha," She stutters with fear in her eyes. "Urgh! There's no need for that, mom. He won't listen to you, anyway. I mean, he already made his decision," I shrug, and she scoffs. "Do you even know what you're saying? He may end up killing you, and you know that. His kids are frustrating, and..." "You have nothing to worry about, mom. I can handle it," I force a smile at her just to prove to her that I'm fine, but I know deep down that I'm not. "You are the only one I have now, you can't leave me, and you know it," She shakes her head as tears brim in her eyes. "I will come to visit you often, okay?" I pull her in my arms and hug her tightly. We have only met for a couple of months, and she has become a part of me already. She has been there for me and made sure that I've been living happily. It breaks my heart that I have to leave, but this can't be avoided. "Iris..." Her voice trails off when we hear the door fling open, and I quickly rush out of the kitchen to the living room where I meet the guards from the castle. I guess they are sent here by the Alpha, but they could've knocked or opened the door nicely, right? "Hey! What was that? Do you want to break the door?" I snap at them angrily, and the two of them glance at each other...Chapter 6 Iris POV "The Alpha sent us to come get you," One of the guards utters coldly, and I can't help the scoff that tears through my throat. The only person I'm scared of in this pack is the Alpha, and nobody else, so if this guard thinks he can intimidate me with that look, then he better go back and learns more about how to scare me. "So what? Is that why you barged in just like that? I'm sure you know how to knock, or nicely announce your presence other than barging in like that, right?" I snap at them angrily as I clench my fists, trying so hard to suppress the anger that keeps trying to consume me. I don't care about what happens next, I may slap these bastards now. "Iris, please," Mom whispers behind me, and I sigh briefly. Turning to face her, I pull her into my arms and hug her tightly like it's the last time we are ever going to see each other. Tears stream down my cheeks as I hug her like I should never let her go. Although we are still going to see each other often
Black Grave pack...Five days on...Waking up to the blank memories of the past few days has been the worst days of her life. Yes, she has been living with that for the past years, but lately, she has been curious. The past she never wanted to know about is now haunting her, and she needs to know about it. Maybe she'll be able to have clues about who she is. It's a beautiful evening, and the view from the garden looks great. She is supposed to be smiling heartily as she stares at the beauty of the flower, but how's she supposed to be happy when everything reminds her of that monster? How's she supposed to still feel the connection between herself and the beautiful flowers, when he already ruined her life and her entirety? Slowly, she clenches her fists and grits her teeth as she glares hard at the flower. Suddenly, she feels her heart wrenches in pain. It's coming again, that demonic power that took her body, that power that buried her good heart and manipulated her. She tries to st
Location: Grave Claw packIris is standing on the balcony and staring up at the sky. It's sunset already, the gentle wind blow on her face and swaying her hair slowly. Thinking about the love of her life, a beautiful smile lace up her small heart-shaped lips. The day she has been waiting for is finally here, the day she'll finally be united with the man she has grown to love, as her mate. The thought of it makes her heart dance to the rhythm of love and excitement. It has been three years already since she has been with alpha Lorenzo, and knowing that he'll finally be choosing his mate tonight, she can't help being happy, knowing that her dream will finally come true. Suddenly, his scent fills the atmosphere, and his aura tells his presence. Her smile widens as she turns around to see him walking up to her gracefully, looking as handsome as always in his royal robe. His raven hair is clinging to his head with some strands resting on his forehead, and his brown eyes are almost the mos
For some minutes, she freezes on the spot, her world crashing down on her feet and her eyes becoming heavy. His words ring in her head, as she tries to comprehend what he just said. She bats her eyelashes a few times, trying to wake up from this nightmare of hers, but it dawns on her that this is the reality that she needs to wake up to. Alpha Lorenzo just rejected her. "Wh...what are you saying?" Amid the murmurs from the crowd, her voice quivers as she slowly drags her feet out of the crowd, not breaking eye contact with him. She feels her heart pumping heavily against her chest like it would pop out anytime soon. She keeps gulping down nothing. "You heard me, Iris... I reject you!" His voice sounds cold as he spells the words to her again. A dry scoff tears through her throat and she pinches her skin under her long purple gown, and this is reality. It doesn't look like a dream. "Why?" Broken, she finally manages to ask after two minutes of staring at him with tears in her eyes. H
Her hair suddenly turns red, and her breath thickens as she walks slowly and steadily toward alpha Lorenzo, who is now on his feet and staring at the dangerous creature in front of him. For the first time in his entire life, the power of a woman almost defeated him. That would've been the most humiliating experience of his life, but there was no way he'll let her do that to him. No one dares to try that with him. "Attack!" Hearing the roar from the zeta, she stops abruptly and slowly clenches his fists whilst glaring hard at alpha Lorenzo, like she would devour him anytime soon. What has come over the gentle Iris that'll never look into anybody's eyes? What has come over the woman that respects the alpha so much to the point of treating him like her god? Is she signing a death contract? Acting upon the order of the zeta, two guards charges at Iris, and stabs her back with daggers before she can defend herself. "Incendio..." She whispers and snaps her eyes open. The room suddenly fee

Recalling that the man standing in front of her now was the one that rejected her moments ago, she can't help the anger that strikes her heart again. "Did you have to kill so many people?" He asks, his voice is hard and scary, but she isn't moved a bit. Because, why should she? "I feel guilty for what I did, Lorenzo..." She stops and manages to stand up to her feet. The corner of her lips slowly twitches into a smirk as she glares hard at her. At this point, it feels like she's not scared of whatever comes out of this. Why the hell should she care? He already ruined her, he has taken away her happiness, so what's there to care about again? "I feel guilty because of the innoce
