Jemima’s POV
I didn’t know what exactly to say to Adrian to make him believe me. I didn’t even want to face him because I knew he had a thousand questions for me and I didn’t know how to answer any of them.
He should be happy I saved him and he just let me off the hook already. I knew I wouldn’t be able to avoid him forever and he was going to demand an explanation sooner or later but I didn’t know what to say, did I?
It’s not like I understood my powers well enough to explain to anyone, but I knew I’d need to make him understand somehow.
I felt tired and my body was aching all over as I was struggling to maintain my composure. I was feeling quite hot and tired so decided to have a quick shower.
I planned to leave the room and answer whatever questions Adrian would have for me. I went into the shower and had a bath and came out right after changing my dress and I felt more comfortable.
I took a deep sigh before opening the door and I walked out of the room. I planned to just receive some fresh air before I was met with several questions.
I walked in the direction of the living room but there was no sign of him so I decided to have a walk because I knew it wouldn’t be long before he found me. I stood at a place because I felt quite uneasy.
Something was going on that I didn’t understand. I could feel something coming from far away and I needed to be sure before raising any suspicions.
I concentrated fully and made sure I knew what I was saying but I was distracted when I heard Adrain’s voice behind me which startled me.
“Here you are!” He said behind me and I turned to look at him. He stared at me with both worry and a confused look plastered on his face.
I just stood there waiting for him to say something because I didn’t know what to say.
“Aren’t you going to say anything?” He asked to walk closer to me but he kept eye contact. He stared deep into my eyes and made a new question if he was trying to look into my soul or something.
“What do you want me to say?” I asked as he was finally standing in front of me. I knew there was no way I was escaping his questions now.
“Anything? Don’t you think I need to know how you did what you did? Who are you? Are you even what you claim you are?” His voice sounded stern but it was still as soft as ever.
I wanted to reply to him but I felt it again, a feeling that danger was looming around the corner. My eyes widened as my soul left my body.
“What’s going on with your eyes?” He asked worriedly but I didn’t bother replying to him because I needed to concentrate.
I finally snapped out of it and started panting hard trying to catch my breath. He stood there and the confused look on his face almost made me burst out in laughter.
“They’re coming,” I muttered under my breath but I knew it was loud enough for him to hear.
“They are what? What are you saying?”
“They are coming!” I said in a more audible tone and he just seemed so lost at this point. If only he could just believe me and forget about the questions.
“How do you know they’re coming? Who are you? I don’t even understand anymore. First, you healed someone in front of me and I tried to get to understand what was going on and you locked yourself in and now you said they’re coming? What’s going on?” He asked, staring at me so deeply like he aß eyeing to see through my lies.
“I’m going to tell you what I know, I don’t have all the answers too.”
“Okay? Start talking!”
“You need to calm down..”
“I’m calm, don’t I look calm? It’s not like there’s anything out of the ordinary going on for me to be worried about right?”
“Enough with the sarcasm and let me speak?”
“Okay, you can talk.”
“You see, I don’t even know the dynamics of my power quite yet, I only know that I can do some things and I don’t know how, I just can,” I said calmly and he stared at me like he wasn’t buying anything I was saying.
“You don’t know how you can, you just can? You said you can do things, what sort of things can you do?” He asked eagerly.
“I can see things from very far away before anyone else can, I can see things and I can also control animals, I guess..”
“You can see things?”
“Yes, and I feel I’m usually stronger under the moon, especially the levitating aspect. I feel like the moon gives me energy or adds to the existing one. It’s all so complicated that even I don’t understand well enough to explain to anyone.”
“I’m trying to make it make sense of everything you're saying and it’s surprising that even if you don’t understand much about your powers then how do you control it?”
“I don’t know, I don’t think I can control them quite yet but I know I’ll figure it out sooner or later.”
“Wow!” He said walking around trying to process everything understandable because I haven’t processed everything myself.
“Are there any effects to using your powers? Do you get weak? Or lightheaded after using them? “
“Maybe, I don’t know, okay.”
“You haven't noticed anything?”
“Maybe I do get a little tired but hardly, I hardly ever feel any effects.”
“Hm, interesting..”
“That’s all you have to say?”
“I mean I have a lot to say but it’s going to get weird so it’s better I keep something in my head. But I’ve known you had powers from the first time I saw you in the woods that day. I could say that I wasn’t certain and I needed to confirm…”
“So you’re saying you knew I had powers all these while? Then if what you’re saying is through, why didn’t you confront me then and ask me about them?” I asked confused as to why he’ll know since All these while and he didn’t act like it.
“I need to confirm you just proved my doubts in the last fight and I need to say that you're really special.” He said softly and hearing him say that made me smile.
“I wouldn’t say anything special because it can be very overwhelming at times because I don’t know what to do and I’m scared I’ll end up hurting someone I’m not supposed to.”
“Don’t worry too much and everything will fall into place. You just need to learn how to control your powers and you’ll be good to go. You just really be special for the moon goddess to have blessed you with such powers, you're moon kissed:”
“You're just trying to flatter me.”
“Maybe I am but I’m telling the truth. She took her time to create you with both beauty and powers and that’s exactly what I plan to do to you physically?”
“What?”
“You heard me,” he said with a soft smile plastered on the corner of his lips which flattered me even more.
Jemima’s POV“That’s all he said but it doesn’t mean anything, so don’t stress it.”“He said that to you?” She asked excitedly, staring at me like she was about to blow up due to excitement.I didn’t even want to have this conversation with her because I wasn’t exactly excited about it. I heard what he said and I could say that it made me feel good in a sort of way but at the same time, I wasn’t looking forward to anything.“Common Jemima , aren’t you supposed to be excited? It’s obvious that he likes you and is all over you.” Lions said excitedly as she walked over to me.“So excited over what? Don’t even start right now Kiona.” I asked sternly. “Start what? I don’t know what you’re talking about, stop acting so tough Jemima because I know you like him even if you keep on acting like you don’t. I’m pretty sure he’s all over you and what he said just confirms it.” She said excitedly holding my hands but I pulled my hands from there and walked away. “Here we go, Kiona please, I’m n
Adrian’s POVI stared at the kitchen counter, my mind spinning. The mark of the rival pack that was engraved into the wood seemed as if it was mocking me. How the hell did it get here? My hands balled into fists at my sides as I replayed the scene in the forest in my head, my eyes narrowing when I remembered that I saw a wolf retreating into the trees. The tail of the wolf, I realized with a sharp edge. The shape of it was familiar. One of them had escaped, and now this? The thought made my wolf angry. It was too deliberate, too calculated. She came and sat at the far end of the room, her shoulders were tense and her face looked distant, as if she was thinking about something. Something about her stillness pulled at my heart strings.“Jem,” I said softly, stepping toward her.Her head turned a little, but she didn’t meet my eyes.“You have
~Jemima Wolfsbane Pov....Her Mate's PackI have always wondered where my mate, Connor was always disappearing to every day. He always went to his penthouse around this time and curiosity made me follow him. I made sure to stay far away from him so that he would not pick up my scent. I watched from a distance as he ascended the stairs of the penthouse and a woman came out to hug him. My eyes widened as they kissed.I refused to believe what I saw, my eyes were deceiving me. I watched as the both of them went inside.Who was that woman?!My heart pounded in my chest as I ran towards the penthouse. I quickly ascended the steps of the penthouse as quietly as I could despite my beating heart. I was driven by an unshakable feeling of unease that had already settled inside of my chest.Ever since I had gotten married to Connor, I knew that he was not really satisfied with me. But, he always strived to treat me well. Still sometimes he would be distant, his gaze cold and other times he would
~Jemima Wolfsbane Pov....Her Mate's PackThe words slashed through my heart with each syllable sharper than a chef's knife. I felt my heart begin to constrict inside of my chest as our omega bond rose to the surface. He could feel my pain too now, because it was now more than I could bear.My mind were bombarded with all kinds of truth and realizations; the fact that he never wanted me even when he touched me, the fact that he did not even love me, the fact that I was nothing to him and yet he had intended to use me and even the fact that all those promises and wedding vows were all lies from the pit of hell.“Connor, please don’t,” I whispered to him in pain. I could not take anymore of what he would dish out.“Oh, what is wrong with you Jemima ?” Tamar taunted me with a malicious glint in her eyes. I could tell that she liked to gloat about whatever was befalling me. “Did you really think that he would choose you, over me? Oh come one! No one would, even you would not pick yourself
~Jemima Steele Pov....Her mother's home, eleven years ago from now.Well, this was how it all started from eleven years ago. I do not exactly recall many details about the night that I was born from what my mother always told me. But I do remember that she had described it as a rather stormy evening with the rain hitting the windows so loudly that one would not have even been able to hear their own thoughts. She had always had this distant expression pressed onto her face whenever she told me about it as if she was immersed in that memory and kind of hesitant to return from. And I wondered why.I never knew who my father was. My single mother never bothered to tell me and I never bothered to ask either because I was smart enough to know that it was a forbidden subject. My mother never talked about him. She always refrained from conversations that would lead to talking about him.My mother was not the ideal type of loving mother. She was a sharp witted and stubborn woman who always l
~Jemima Steele Pov....Her father's home, eleven years ago from now.We travelled all night along the major roads. When I roused in the wee hours of the morning, it was to my mother roughly veering off into a minor road. I took a guess from her obvious relief that we were close to our destination. She turned into a path which curved and meandered into a beautiful setting. I gazed out of the window at the landscape, observing the tall trees and pondering if I would ever return to my home with my mother. She eventually came to a halt at a house at the end of the road. The appearance was aged yet cozy and illuminated by the bright lights. There was a lovely front garden that was just beautiful. I felt fear as I wondered why we were thereShe parked the car and asked me to stay still. Then she got out and went to the house. She knocked on the door and a woman opened it. They talked for a moment and both went inside. I heard loud voices in the house and sometimes later, my mum came outsid
~Jemima Steele Pov.....The Pack's ForestIt had rained cats and dog al through the night. And the downpour had only seized a few minutes to dawn. It was refreshing, the morning after, with the smell of rain water. The sun rose in the sky after that at its usual time, just as my step mother began to scream profanities at me. I sighed internally as I skipped out of the house before she would unleash her hidden demon. Her latest string of insults still burned in my ears.Besides, it was just the perfect weather for me to go into the forest, to the little water body there and bath in the water which the sun would warm up.It always felt real good.I took a deep breath while letting the quiet of the trees drown out her words. I inhaled that familiar scent of damp earth and wild flowers, of green leaves and rain water combined the moment I stepped into the forest. I stopped to bask in the soothing feeling that it always brought to me. It was like a symphony, a remedy to every trouble in m
~Adrian Blackthorn POV....The Pack’s ForestThe moon was high, its light spilling over the forest as I ran. The air was cool, carrying the smell of damp earth and flowers. My paws hit the ground in steady strides, but something felt off tonight. My chest was tight, like I was waiting for something to happen.Kieran, my wolf, growled inside me. He was restless, pacing in my mind. It made me uneasy. He wasn’t the type to get worked up without a reason. I tried to focus, breathing deeply to calm both of us, but the forest felt different. The usual peace wasn’t there. She’s here. The thought came out of nowhere, gripping me tight.Who? I asked, even though I already knew. Our mate. She’s close. Kieran’s voice was clear, full of longing. It was sharper than I’d felt in years.I stopped running, my fur catching the moonlight. My heart was racing. The word mate hit me like a shock, filling me with both excitement and fear. After losing Sienna, I promised myself I’d never take another mate.

Adrian's POVMy eyes widened in surprise on seeing what just happened right before my naked eyes. Did jasmine just made Garrett make use of his legs again after all hope we're lost?It happened so fast that I couldn't predict it. Firstly, the wounds in her thighs closed up by itself and I waved it off and now Garrett sudden healing. How's that even possible? Something seems off, and I can't wait to figure it out.I grabbed her wrist and pulled her closer, my eyes searching for answers, but before I could say anything she wriggled her hand off and ran away., heading towards her room. I sighed and ran after her. I called her name repeatedly, but she didn't even turn to spare me a glance even for a minute. She finally got to her doorstep and she pushed her door opened and went inside, and I wanted to follow her in, but she slammed the door to my face and I groaned, stepping backward feeling like a complete loser.I yelled angrily and started hitting the wall with my knuckle until blood
Jemima's POVI looked around to be sure that we weren't longer in the woods. Adrian was staring at me with keen interest. I dropped my hand by my side and look away in embarrassment.“Are you sure you're okay?” He asked again, walking beside me. The sounds of his men trolling behind could be heard. “Jemima” he called, tapping on my shoulder and I coughed lightly.“I'm fine, trust me” I said, covering up my whole act with a smile.“You don't look good, though” he said and I chuckled dryly.I don't know how long we've been walking, but I knew it's up to an hour already. I scratched my head as my mind wandered off to Garrett. Is he okay?“I was worried earlier when you transformed. I thought you wouldn't make it” He said, his voice sounding low and calm. I sighed. Studying his expression alone, I knew he was worried. It was written all over his face."I'm sorry'' I bit my lower lips, pressing my hands together.“It's fine, Jemima. You're okay, that's what matters to me” he smiled at me w
Jemima’s POVThe world came back to me slowly at first. It was blurry images, muffled sounds, and a heavy, almost pain going through my whole body. Then, all at once, I felt something, as if someone was tugging my eyes open, or begging me to open my eyes. I couldn’t really tell. But my eyes shot open, my senses returning in sharp snippets it was almost too much to take in at once.I was moving. No, I was bouncing. My body rising and falling in an uneven motion, like I was being carried. What the hell? The morning light filtered in through the trees, casting a bright glow on everything. It took me a second to realize I wasn’t on the ground. I was suspended. My heart raced as I looked down and saw the broad shoulders under me. Adrian.I was on Adrian’s back.It wasn’t just that realization that shocked me, it was the fact that I was clothed, too. My cheeks heated up immediately on its own accord, but I pushed the embarrassment aside.“Adrian,” I said through the mind link, my voice shar
Adrian’s POVThe sun was rising already in the sky and I felt like I didn’t want the morning to come. I wanted everything to stay still till Jemima woke up. The sun was rising but my spirit wasn’t. Everything about me felt paralyzed. It was too bright for my liking. Jemima lay in my arms, her body lifeless and limp, her breathing shallow. At least she was still breathing. The rising run focused its light on her skin, and it shined like she wasn’t dying in my arms. For a brief moment there, she looked like a goddess, too perfect to be real.“Come on, Jemima,” I murmured, brushing a stray strand of hair from her face. “You don’t get to quit on me now. You hear me? You’re tougher than this.”She didn’t stir, she didn’t even move or shake. My wolf growled restlessly in the back of my mind, he was angry and desperate. I forced myself to stay calm for her sake. The others had shifted back into their human forms, their expressions obvious with worry and tiredness. One of my men, Ronan, step
Adrian’s POVThe attack came from nowhere, as they normally happen. One moment I was catching my breath after another kill, the metallic taste of blood sharp on my tongue. The next, I was helping Jemima up, and the very next moment, a wolf pounced at me from the shadows, its claws bared and scraping across my side.I staggered but still stayed standing, baring my teeth in a snarl. It was big, bigger than most, but the anger in me gave me strength. I lunged forward, meeting it at once. We tumbled together into the forest, snapping and clawing each other, trying to find an opening for a kill.“Adrian!” Jemima’s voice echoed faintly through the mind link, but the wolf drove me more far away from her. I felt a hint of worry settle down in the pit of my stomach and it had nothing to do with the fight. The wolf went for my neck and he aimed his teeth for a kill but I twisted and turned, managing to grab its throat in my mouth. My thigh burned with a sudden, deep pain, so sharp it almost put
Jemima's POVThe night was so heavy around us, so intense and quiet, the kind of silence that presses down on your chest like a foreign presence. Adrian’s voice echoed in my mind through the pack's mind link.“Shift. Now.”I didn’t hesitate. The command surged through me, setting my veins on fire. One by one, the others responded, their human forms shifting into powerful wolves with thick fur and sharp, dark claws. The shift came over me like something I wasn’t prepared for, pulling me under and spitting me out in my wolf form. My senses sharpened instantly, every sound, every scent, every movement in the forest felt as if it was amplified in my headAnd then, there was nothing. No more thudding, no more rustling. Just silence. The kind that wasn’t natural. The kind that made the fur on the back of my neck stand up.“Stay alert,” Adrian warned through the link. His voice was calm, but I could sense the tension that came with it. “Something’s out there.”I bent down low, my claws digg
