“No! That can’t be true! That’s f*cking ridiculous!” Cindy York cried like a five-year-old child, with the sentinels still suppressing her from stepping closer to the gazebo. Only her mother looked back at her with a pale face, still unable to believe what was happening.

I swallowed hard, lost for words, because my heart and mind were in chaos about how I would react to all of it.

“And if it wasn’t for Alpha Evander’s huge help and his perseverance to find you, I would have forever succumbed to the darkness that almost destroyed this kingdom. I would have given up my faith to see you and hold you again.”

Alpha Charles looked at me with fatherly eyes and longed for his child. I met his gaze and saw thousands of emotions swimming in it as he reached for his hand, asking for me to hold it. To feel that I was real. That I was alive and not just a hallucination—a dream that he thought would never come true.
