Chapter 75

It wasn’t a dream.

It was a warning.

The very first transformation—my shifting into my werewolf form was excruciating beyond explanation. I felt everything. Every part and detail of it as my muscles grew and my bones increased in size and snapped into place. I kept on repeating that the pain was just all in my head and I had to endure it to save my mate. My body grew larger until I saw everyone, with all their wide eyes on me, watching me with shock. For me, it felt as if the shifting process took forever but in reality, it only took me a minute until I was finally a full-grown she-wolf lunging herself at the woman who fired a bullet at my mate.

Everything was a slow motion in my eyes. I kicked Evander away so he could dodge the bullet and I went straight at Cindy, all teeth bared, as I pinned her down to the grassy ground of the garden. I saw the disbelief in her eyes as she trembled underneath me and I saw my reflection in it—a white wolf who was ready to tear her open.
