Camilla unpacked her luggage, which was delivered to her room by some of the pack's omegas. She could still not believe how some of them had the audacity to look at her. The witch despised the whole werewolf kind, and the lowest rank meant less than dirt on her shoes. In her pack, they knew its place and would never dare to speak in her presence nor look at her. This place was savage. The omegas showed no respect to her, and Camilla promised to teach them a lesson as soon as she was in charge. They will pay a high price for disrespecting her.
At least the room was decent, nothing like the one she was used to, but she was ready to bear with that for now. She hoped to get into Alpha's suite soon.
When all her stuff was out, she reached into the hidden pocket in her suitcase, where she kept a tiny bottle. It was the same potion she had already applied to Sean's wine during his first visit. Camille prepared a dozen of tiny flasks, good enough for one application and easy to hide. All she had to do now was to add it a few more times to his food or drink, and soon he would be completely under her spell. That was the most specific part of her plan. There would be many occasions to do it. She would make sure of that.
What was bothering her was this little Alpha's mate. Of course, she was no match for Camille, but as a destined mate, she would be problematic. If they were chosen mates, she could handle them in no time. But their relationship was blessed by this ridiculous Moon Goddess, all the wolves were worshipping. It was nothing the witch couldn't deal with. It would only be more time-consuming.
In the first scenario of her plan, Camille planned to befriend Luna, gain her trust, and then use it all against her.
But since she met Katherine, it was apparent this option was not going to happen. Alpha's mate was suspicious and distant from the first minute. It looked like she disliked the witch from the very beginning. That confused Camille; she usually had no problems making people fall for her.
The witch was explaining Luna's behavior with jealousy and possessiveness. It was so common among wolves. They could barely tolerate someone else in their mate's presence.
Well, Katherine will have to get over that, as her days as a Luna were counted. Camille didn't come here to fail.
This Alpha was almost too perfect for her plans, and she would do anything to make him hers.
That is why she had to act fast. She took a shower and blowdried her long, ginger hair. Then she put on light make-up. Not that it was necessary, as Camille was a beauty with her slender figure and full breasts and hips. If that wasn't enough, her eyes were blue like a sky in the middle of a sunny day, and she had full lips that were made to be kissed. All of them made her look innocent and pure. Most of the men were ready to kill for her if that would be what she desired. Of course, she would never let any werewolf touch her, as they were like animals. But when it came to her plan, she was ready for this little sacrifice. She was doing this for her coven.
Camilla looked at her reflection in the mirror. The silky nightgown was a great choice. She looked very seductive, and she was ready to make a move.
She left her room. If anyone saw her, she went to the kitchen and made herself a cup of hot chocolate. There was her alibi. A late-night drink. When she got it ready, there was time for another step. She took a small tour around the packhouse. It was pretty late, so all the halls were empty. But that was not the reason why she was out at that hour.
She was hoping for a meeting with the Alpha. Most leaders liked to spend evenings and nights working as it was the most convenient time for them when they wouldn't be bothered by others.
Camille was counting that Sean was one of those Alphas. The hot chocolate in her hand was for him, as she had already poured a few drops of her potion into it.
The witch was snooping around, trying to locate his office, and finally, she heard a voice behind one of the doors. It belonged to the Alpha, which meant that Camille was in the right place. As she couldn't hear anyone else, he was apparently having a phone conversation.
Camille smiled at herself. It was her lucky day.
She made a bit of noise, banging on the table. It was loud enough to make Alpha stop talking. He quickly ended his conversation and peeked from his office to locate the reason for the noise.
That was what the witch was waiting for.
- Camille? What are you doing here?- Alpha Sean asked in a hoarse voice.
The witch almost fist-bumped the air. Her plan was working, and the nightgown was doing its job.
Sean was looking at her with hungry eyes. Her hard nip*les were very visible under the silk, and he was having a hard time avoiding looking at them. He was failing miserably, and the witch almost busts into laughter, seeing that. But instead, she looked at him, embarrassed.
- I am sorry, Alpha. I was thirsty, so I went to the kitchen, trying to find something to drink. But I forgot where my room was and got lost. Unfortunately, I was also clumsy and knocked this from the table. - She pointed out something on the floor, bending in front of him to pick it up.
Camille smirked as she heard him swallowing hard when he noticed her breasts on full display. All the men were so easy to manipulate. A bit of exposed body, and they barely controlled themselves.
The witch picked up the waze and put it back on the table. When she looked at the Alpha, his eyes were almost black.
It looked like her potion worked better than she expected.
- I am so sorry if I disrupted you.- She said in her sweet voice.
- It is not a problem. - Sean answered and, again, swallowed loudly. - I could use a break. It smells heavenly. - He continued, pointing to her cup.
- Would you like to try it? We can share it. - Camille offered her hot chocolate to the man. He took a cup and sipped some of the drink. The witch was looking at him with a soft smile. He would probably drink poison if she gave it to him.
- Would you like to come and talk for a minute? Then I will show you the way to your room. - Sean asked, looking at her.
- Yeah, that would be nice, as I was wandering for a while and could use a second to rest. - Camille replied and entered Sean's office.
It was an old-fashioned office with a bookshelf all around it and leather sofas in the middle.
The witch sat on one of them, exposing her long legs. Sean, to avoid staring, took another sip of her chocolate.
It was amusing for Camille to look at this man while he tried to regain his composure.
- I didn't thank you for the lovely room you let me stay in. It is very generous of you.
Sean could finally focus on her words, as his sight was still drifting to her breasts.
The Alpha was cursing himself for getting distracted by her. He focused on the cup, taking one sip after another, and Camille's smile widened after seeing that.
Wrapping this man around her finger was like stealing a kid's lollipops.
- I think I should be going now. Of course, if you spare me a minute, show me the way to my room. - Camille said with worry in her voice. - I am sure you would like to return to your work.
- I think I am done for today. - Sean replied, standing up from his seat. - I will gladly take you to your room to ensure you are safely there. - He offered like some actual danger could wait for her outside.
- Are you sure? I don't want to be a burden to you. - Camille tried to sound serious. Albeit, she also stood up from her seat.
- Do not worry; you are a guest in our house, and it is my duty to take care of you. - Sean approached the witch and placed his hand on her back.
His touch disgusted her, but Camille decided to endure it for now.
Both left the office, yet Sean's hand was still on Camille's back. It seemed like he thought she still needed support.
They entered the main hall, where a voice could be heard from the top of the stairs.
- What is going on in here?- Katherine stood there, watching them.
- Ups!- Camille giggled, watching Sean's face going pale.
- Can someone answer my question? - She asked again, and her voice was cold as ice.
Katherine stood at the top of the stairs, looking at the scene downstairs. She woke up not long ago and decided to have a glass of water. Sean had not returned to their room yet. He was probably still working in his office. As there was no need to bother him, she decided to go and have a drink. It wouldn't be the first time he spent most of the night working. Katherine took her nightrobe and left their bedroom. She reached the stairs when some sounds came to her ears, but it didn't faze her, as someone was probably not sleeping, just like her. Yet when she checked who was making those noises, her heart stopped for a minute. Down the hall, her husband sauntered with Camille, obviously very interested in whatever she had to say. Katherine's blood boiled as their ~quest~ was wearing a nightgown, which left almost nothing for imagination. But it had not made her mad. It was her husband's, her mate's sight, sliding over Camille's body without shame. He was eating her with his eyes. -
Katherine kept her distance in case that would be a trap. It wouldn't be a first for vampires to attack wolves, and she was a perfect target, as there was no other wolf with her.She was watching the man on the ground, but there were no signs of movement. There was also no more vampire scent in the air than his own. And blood. Not a human or werewolf, but a vampire. It looked like he was wounded.~ Should we check on him?~ Katherine asked Lucy.~ Are you seriously asking me that? The good vampire is a dead vampire. There is no need to change it. ~ Her wolf had a firm opinion. It was very accurate. Vampires and werewolves never get along. It was going on forever.Unfortunately, both species fought against each other in the past, and it didn't help at all.Yet, Katherine still felt sorry for the man on the ground.~ I need to shift and take a look at him.~ The Luna finally decided.~ Have you lost your mind?- Lucy growled in her mind.~ I can't just stand here and watch him die. ~ Kathe
Katherine was so shocked that she forgot how to breathe for a minute. How come this vampire knew her biggest secrets and talked about this like it was nothing? The man in front of her slowly pulled himself to the sitting position, still not taking his eyes off her.- Don't worry. Your secret is safe with me. - He said, bringing her back to reality.- How did you know?- She whispered, but he just shrugged his arms.Katherine wasn't buying it. He couldn't just drop a bomb like that and keep it for himself.- Is it some royal thing? Secret gift?- She pressed harder on him.The vampire giggled with amusement. - You could say that. - The man replied and went silent again. His behavior was getting on her nerves.- I think you owe me some explanation. - Katherine pointed out.- I owe you much more, like my life, for example. - He said calmly.- Don't worry. I am not going to ask you to die for me. I am still more interested in how you knew my secret. - She said with a small smile, playing on
Marcus raised his head from the papers piled on his desk to look at his son, Greg. He was his heir and an immense pride. His firstborn was robust, courageous, and well-behaved. In the future, he will lead them to greatness. That is why he was chosen as an emissary to the witches' kingdom. It has been years since King Marcus tried to make peace with them. Witches were powerful, but all their power came from spells, charms, or potions. On the other hand, vampires were born with gifts that couldn't be taken from them. That was something that witches couldn't stand. That led to countless battles in the past.It was Greg's father's idea to end that finally. He firmly believed that peace between two species was possible. Now, it was time to find out how the meeting went. - So? How was it?- He asked, leaning back on his chair. - Are they willing to collaborate with us?- Their Mother tried everything to make me believe we were on the same page. But we are not even in that same book.- Gre
Katherine was looking at the scene in front of her. One of the omegas was kneeling on the floor, trying to pick up shattered glass, which probably was a bottle of wine. Her hands were shaking when she tried to grab tiny pieces of glass. Hovering over her was Camille, wearing a fancy dress entirely ruined by spilled wine. In other circumstances, Luna would feel great satisfaction seeing this, but now her blood was boiling as one of her pack members was mistreated.- Let me ask again. What the hell are you doing?- She asked, looking at Camille with hatred in her eyes. If this woman was stepping on her toes, Katherine was okay with that, but what she wouldn't tolerate was abusing her people. Camille offered a similar look before talking. - If you haven't noticed, your clumsy omega dropped the bottle and spilled wine all over my dress. It is ruined.- She said slowly. - This omega has a name.- Luna gritted her teeth. Then she turned her attention to the young girl who was still busy cle
Katherine left her husband's office after this whole unfruitful conversation. It was impossible to believe his words anymore. And she was exhausted from trying. Sean was always stubborn, which was a good thing sometimes, but now it was not working for her endorsement. She would need some hard proof to show Camille's true face. But for now, she had no luck with that. ~ He is entirely blind when it comes to her.~ Lucy said in her mind, and Katherine had no choice but to agree with her wolf. ~ I know that, but I have no idea how to make him see the truth, especially when he perfectly explains her every action. He was even ready to punish poor Lizzy today. That is so not like him at all. ~ Katherine lay down on her bed, looking at the ceiling. ~ Let's forget about that for now. We will eventually figure out what to do.~ Her wolf advised. ~ What do you think about this vampire? ~ What do you mean? ~ The woman asked, surprised by the sudden change of the subject. ~ He seems different
Rachel looked at her friend in disbelief. She knew what she heard, but her brain struggled to process that. Her body was shaking even if she tried to stay calm. - What do you mean by that? - She asked with a trembling voice. Katherine gave her a look filled with concern.- That was not how I wanted to say it. I hoped that I would never have to do that.- I asked, what do you mean by that I would die? - Rachel repeated her question, ignoring Katherine. - You tried to protect me in the past, and then this accident occurred. I am almost sure it was because of your actions. - Luna explained. - An accident? Do you hear yourself? - Rachel said and distanced herself from Katherine, who felt hurt by this movement. - I know how it sounds. You read a letter. - Luna tried to convince her friend to believe her. - Yes, the letter. All of this is wild. - Rachel replied. - We have been friends since we were kids. Have I ever given you a reason to do not to believe me? - Katherine asked on a l
Greg was watching his family since they gathered at the dinner table. He wanted to talk privately with his father, but it was impossible until the meal ended. It was another rule created by his parents, and breaking it would be a big mistake. Like his mother always said, it was a time for a family. Those words could make more sense in any other family but not theirs. The only thing connecting them was blood. Greg was an heir and a future vampire king, and his father paid him attention only because of that. In other circumstances, he would be as invisible as Xavier. Maybe then his mother would care more about him. Now, she only fulfilled her duties, while her love was directed to his brother. Xavier knew how to use it to his advantage. There was no day when he wouldn't remind Greg about his privileged position as the firstborn, like he had something to say in that matter.Gregory was always jealous about the freedom his brother had while he was forced to engage in politics and never-
