Camilla was watching young Luna, who was almost boiling with anger. She was masking it quite well with her politeness, but it was obvious to the witch that they would never be friends. Not that she wanted that. Her main target was standing beside her, watching her with puppy eyes. His wife was just a little obstruction that had to be moved to make everything go smoothly.
Alpha Sean was quick to offer her help.
- Please come inside. The weather is terrible outside. What made you travel in such a condition? - He asked, taking her wet coat.
- My father couldn't forgive himself that we had no more time to discuss the potential alliance. - Camilla accentuated the word ~ potential~ as she had already figured out how important it was for this Alpha, and he was ready to do anything to make it happen.
- That is so thoughtful of him. - Luna replied.
Camilla almost busted into laughter, hearing the young woman gritting her teeth while she said that.
~ She had intuition. ~ The witch thought to herself. This could be even more fun than she was thinking before.
- Let's not keep our quest in the hall. Please follow me to the living room, and I will let Omegas know to get one of the spare rooms for you to stay in. I hope you will feel at home here. - The Alpha offered.
- I am sure I will. - She replied, while his wife was not taking her eyes off her, and her face was getting darker with every passing minute.
Camilla took one of the seats and pretended to listen to what the leader of this pack was talking to her. She thought about what to do next as she archived what she wanted. Alpha invited her to his house, and she had no intentions of leaving it any time soon. She was planning not to leave it at all.
To kill time, Camilla engaged herself in small talk with Alpha, enjoying a cup of tea brought to her by some Omega. Luna was sitting, overseeing them. She looked like someone who was expecting an attack any moment now. The witch found this amusing, as this woman had no idea what was coming to her. But there was no need to rush. Camilla knew that her every step must be well thought out, as she couldn't allow herself any mistakes.
Finally, one omega came down, informing them that the room was ready. Camilla excused herself, leaving the Alpha couple in the living room, and followed the young she-wolf.
When she was finally in her room, there was time for some relaxation, so the witch got herself a hot bath as her body was still cold after standing in the rain.
While lying in the bathtub, she was planning her next move.
The Full Moon Pack was entirely under her control. Alpha William was playing his role like a puppet on the show. After so many years under her spell, he probably didn't even remember who he was. She made him rule their pack with an iron fist, imprinting fear and respect on all their members yet still providing them a high standard of living and safety. He made him feared yet loved by everyone, which was not an easy task.
Of course, he would not live forever, and Camilla was more than ready to help him leave this world, but it was not time yet.
Anyone could think that she had already fulfilled the task Mother gave her. She got a pleasant land where her sister could live a comfortable life. But she needed something more. She understood the laws ruling them through the years she had spent in werewolf society.
At the beginning of her mission, Camilla thought it would be enough to control the Alpha. She was planning to take over the pack after her ~father~ passed away, one way or another. But with time, she understood that the pack would never accept her as their leader. She was a woman, suitable to be a Luna, but not the Alpha. After the death of her ~father~, many males will find themselves better to become a new Alpha.
Camilla was a talented witch, yet not powerful enough to fight them all. So she decided to think ahead and found herself a suitable man she could easily control. She was ready to become his Luna.
The next step would be to merge their packs and make her husband lead them both while she controls him from the shadows.
Then, she would achieve all her goals. Her sisters would finally have their home, while the warriors of both packs would become guard dogs ruled by witches. Anyone who would stand against them would be eliminated.
She spent a few years visiting other packs, looking for a suitable candidate for her plan, but most of the Alphas she met had a strong will and could ruin her whole plan.
Then she heard about a new young Alpha who had recently started in his role. What was even better was that he was actively looking for allies. That made him a perfect target. He was not too experienced and found his mate just a few years ago. There was still time to play with their bond and destroy it.
Camilla decided to invite them to her pack. She liked to call it her pack, as, in fact, she was in charge there as William was doing everything he was told to. When they arrived, the witch got the confirmation she needed. That was the man she was looking for. He could not take his eyes off her, even with his mate by his side. He was so into her that she almost felt sorry for Luna.
Camilla decided not to wait any longer, and during dinner time, she started to pour her special potion into his wine. He was already under her influence. She did it to make sure it would stay like that.
But then, the young Luna came into the picture, ruining her whole plan. He had the audacity to decline the offer of staying in their packhouse. Camilla had to admit that she underestimated the young woman.
After they left, she allowed herself to release some of her anger, destroying a few things in the packhouse. When she calmed down, there was time to create Plan B.
There was no way the Alpha couple would come to their lands anytime soon. She had to appear on their land. It was not a perfect solution, but the witch was running out of time, and she was getting desperate.
So, after increasing her compelling spell on the Alpha, she left her pack in one of their cars. It didn't take too long after she finally reached her destination. Even the weather was doing her a favor as it was raining heavily. One of the patrols stopped her once, but after hearing her name, she was allowed to enter the pack lands.
To add drama to her arrival, she spent a few minutes in the rain, getting wet, to gain pity from the Alpha. And again, Camilla was right, as Sean was extraordinarily welcoming and helpful, just like she expected.
Then his wife arrived. On their first meeting, the witch didn't pay much attention to her until the end. Now, she was more careful.
There was no mistake that this woman didn't fall for her. It looked like she could see through her intentions and knew they were not so pure.
Luna Katherine was an intelligent young woman, and it would take some time to fool her around. But Camilla liked challenges.
First, she had to focus on the Alpha. When she has him wrapped around her finger, then will be the best time to strike and eliminate his mate, once and for all.
Camilla giggled at the thought of the upcoming entertainment waiting for her.
Katherine was standing in the middle of her bedroom, balling her fists. It was not happening!
~ We need to get rid of her as soon as possible.~ Lucy told her, still bearing her teeth at the slightest thought about Camilla.
~ Please, tell me something I do not know!- Luna replied sarcastically, built and quickly reflected herself. ~ I am sorry, Lucy, but having her under this roof makes me crazy.
~ No offense taken. ~ Her wolf replied.~ I feel precisely the same. It would be best to barge into her room and rip off her head.
~ That sounds like a plan, but let's keep it for later. Her whole pack would come if something happened to that bi*ch. - Katherine smiled lightly, allowing her imagination to drift off into the dangerous way. ~ We need to watch her all the time and make Sean send her back. As much as I hate this thought, we need to be closer to him, or she will dig her claws into him again.
~ She can take him. I couldn't care less. ~ Lucy admitted. ~ I am tired of pretending to his wolf that everything is OK.
~ He is unaware of what happened, so his feelings are genuine.~ Katherine pointed out.
~ Yet he did nothing in the past life to save us, to protect us. That is something that can't be forgotten.
~ Don't worry, Lucy, we will not allow them to hurt us again, I promise. We are wiser now. And because the Moon Goddess gave us another chance, there must be a better future for us. ~ The Luna prayed for that every night.
~ I hope so. One way or another, we will survive this time.
~ We will. We all will.
Camilla unpacked her luggage, which was delivered to her room by some of the pack's omegas. She could still not believe how some of them had the audacity to look at her. The witch despised the whole werewolf kind, and the lowest rank meant less than dirt on her shoes. In her pack, they knew its place and would never dare to speak in her presence nor look at her. This place was savage. The omegas showed no respect to her, and Camilla promised to teach them a lesson as soon as she was in charge. They will pay a high price for disrespecting her.At least the room was decent, nothing like the one she was used to, but she was ready to bear with that for now. She hoped to get into Alpha's suite soon. When all her stuff was out, she reached into the hidden pocket in her suitcase, where she kept a tiny bottle. It was the same potion she had already applied to Sean's wine during his first visit. Camille prepared a dozen of tiny flasks, good enough for one application and easy to hide. All she
Katherine stood at the top of the stairs, looking at the scene downstairs. She woke up not long ago and decided to have a glass of water. Sean had not returned to their room yet. He was probably still working in his office. As there was no need to bother him, she decided to go and have a drink. It wouldn't be the first time he spent most of the night working. Katherine took her nightrobe and left their bedroom. She reached the stairs when some sounds came to her ears, but it didn't faze her, as someone was probably not sleeping, just like her. Yet when she checked who was making those noises, her heart stopped for a minute. Down the hall, her husband sauntered with Camille, obviously very interested in whatever she had to say. Katherine's blood boiled as their ~quest~ was wearing a nightgown, which left almost nothing for imagination. But it had not made her mad. It was her husband's, her mate's sight, sliding over Camille's body without shame. He was eating her with his eyes. -
Katherine kept her distance in case that would be a trap. It wouldn't be a first for vampires to attack wolves, and she was a perfect target, as there was no other wolf with her.She was watching the man on the ground, but there were no signs of movement. There was also no more vampire scent in the air than his own. And blood. Not a human or werewolf, but a vampire. It looked like he was wounded.~ Should we check on him?~ Katherine asked Lucy.~ Are you seriously asking me that? The good vampire is a dead vampire. There is no need to change it. ~ Her wolf had a firm opinion. It was very accurate. Vampires and werewolves never get along. It was going on forever.Unfortunately, both species fought against each other in the past, and it didn't help at all.Yet, Katherine still felt sorry for the man on the ground.~ I need to shift and take a look at him.~ The Luna finally decided.~ Have you lost your mind?- Lucy growled in her mind.~ I can't just stand here and watch him die. ~ Kathe
Katherine was so shocked that she forgot how to breathe for a minute. How come this vampire knew her biggest secrets and talked about this like it was nothing? The man in front of her slowly pulled himself to the sitting position, still not taking his eyes off her.- Don't worry. Your secret is safe with me. - He said, bringing her back to reality.- How did you know?- She whispered, but he just shrugged his arms.Katherine wasn't buying it. He couldn't just drop a bomb like that and keep it for himself.- Is it some royal thing? Secret gift?- She pressed harder on him.The vampire giggled with amusement. - You could say that. - The man replied and went silent again. His behavior was getting on her nerves.- I think you owe me some explanation. - Katherine pointed out.- I owe you much more, like my life, for example. - He said calmly.- Don't worry. I am not going to ask you to die for me. I am still more interested in how you knew my secret. - She said with a small smile, playing on
Marcus raised his head from the papers piled on his desk to look at his son, Greg. He was his heir and an immense pride. His firstborn was robust, courageous, and well-behaved. In the future, he will lead them to greatness. That is why he was chosen as an emissary to the witches' kingdom. It has been years since King Marcus tried to make peace with them. Witches were powerful, but all their power came from spells, charms, or potions. On the other hand, vampires were born with gifts that couldn't be taken from them. That was something that witches couldn't stand. That led to countless battles in the past.It was Greg's father's idea to end that finally. He firmly believed that peace between two species was possible. Now, it was time to find out how the meeting went. - So? How was it?- He asked, leaning back on his chair. - Are they willing to collaborate with us?- Their Mother tried everything to make me believe we were on the same page. But we are not even in that same book.- Gre
Katherine was looking at the scene in front of her. One of the omegas was kneeling on the floor, trying to pick up shattered glass, which probably was a bottle of wine. Her hands were shaking when she tried to grab tiny pieces of glass. Hovering over her was Camille, wearing a fancy dress entirely ruined by spilled wine. In other circumstances, Luna would feel great satisfaction seeing this, but now her blood was boiling as one of her pack members was mistreated.- Let me ask again. What the hell are you doing?- She asked, looking at Camille with hatred in her eyes. If this woman was stepping on her toes, Katherine was okay with that, but what she wouldn't tolerate was abusing her people. Camille offered a similar look before talking. - If you haven't noticed, your clumsy omega dropped the bottle and spilled wine all over my dress. It is ruined.- She said slowly. - This omega has a name.- Luna gritted her teeth. Then she turned her attention to the young girl who was still busy cle
Katherine left her husband's office after this whole unfruitful conversation. It was impossible to believe his words anymore. And she was exhausted from trying. Sean was always stubborn, which was a good thing sometimes, but now it was not working for her endorsement. She would need some hard proof to show Camille's true face. But for now, she had no luck with that. ~ He is entirely blind when it comes to her.~ Lucy said in her mind, and Katherine had no choice but to agree with her wolf. ~ I know that, but I have no idea how to make him see the truth, especially when he perfectly explains her every action. He was even ready to punish poor Lizzy today. That is so not like him at all. ~ Katherine lay down on her bed, looking at the ceiling. ~ Let's forget about that for now. We will eventually figure out what to do.~ Her wolf advised. ~ What do you think about this vampire? ~ What do you mean? ~ The woman asked, surprised by the sudden change of the subject. ~ He seems different
Rachel looked at her friend in disbelief. She knew what she heard, but her brain struggled to process that. Her body was shaking even if she tried to stay calm. - What do you mean by that? - She asked with a trembling voice. Katherine gave her a look filled with concern.- That was not how I wanted to say it. I hoped that I would never have to do that.- I asked, what do you mean by that I would die? - Rachel repeated her question, ignoring Katherine. - You tried to protect me in the past, and then this accident occurred. I am almost sure it was because of your actions. - Luna explained. - An accident? Do you hear yourself? - Rachel said and distanced herself from Katherine, who felt hurt by this movement. - I know how it sounds. You read a letter. - Luna tried to convince her friend to believe her. - Yes, the letter. All of this is wild. - Rachel replied. - We have been friends since we were kids. Have I ever given you a reason to do not to believe me? - Katherine asked on a l
