Chapter 2

                             Chapter 2

Sophia's heart beat wildly upon hearing her husband's voice.

It's crazy that they had been married for one year already, yet this was the third time she saw him face to face again. It's not that Marco doesn't go home, he does.

However, he only returns home when she's sleeping and goes out while she's still asleep."Marco!" Ava ran to Marco quickly and pretended to be like a wounded puppet."Marco, your wife is so mean, she suddenly pushed me for no reason. I didn't do anything at all," She lied with a fake tear already forming in her eyes.

Sophia felt the blood draining out of her body seeing Marco's expression darkened."No... No.... I didn't do anything... I was ...... That's not true, I was just going to help..." "Help? You are so angry and want me to leave the kitchen, that's why you pushed me. Marco my knee is bleeding," Sophia shook her head in disagreement, trying to make Marco believe her."Marco please believe me," she pleaded, her eyes beholding him.

Ava held Marco's arm. "Senior bro, don't believe that woman. She is pretending to be innocent anytime she sees you, but very vicious when you're out. Mother told me that this woman fought with her when you were not around yesterday," Ava lied with tears dripping out of her eyes.Marco stared at Sophia coldly."That's not true… I..." "That's enough! Shut it!" Marco thundered. He threw her a deadly glare before turning to Ava and gently patted her hair with a slight smile."Go to the living room, I will take care of this." When Marco stared at Sophia, that slight smile disappeared."Explain" his low baritone voice rang in her ears and her body stiffened.

She felt nervous because of his presence, her heart pounding like crazy as she felt when she first set her eyes on him at college. Her knees are weak and her tongue is tied. Biting her lower lips, she stared at the floor, unable to stare at him directly in the eye. Silence filled the kitchen and Marco who was getting impatient took a step closer to her with his long legs. Her heart almost exploded, it pounded like crazy.

His scent filled her nostrils, driving her crazy despite the situation."If you're not willing to say anything, go to the living room and apologize to my cousin," he said and she stared at him in disbelief." And also, there is something I would discuss with you today," he said dismissively while leaving the kitchen, giving her no chance to respond.Tears formed in her eyes as her mind drifted to what Marco just told her. What were they going to discuss together? She questioned.

A part of her is elated that Marco is going to have a discussion with her for the first time since their marriage. A year has passed and he still hasn't changed, the man she fell in love with since college days is still very cold and indifferent towards her.She sighs deeply and wipes her tears with the back of her palm, she has no time for this. Marco is finally home early and she has to make a perfect dish for her husband for the first time.

Sophia skillfully moved in the kitchen like a professional chef, her mood lightened up when she had a taste of the food she cooked. She is more than excited to present it to everyone, she can't wait to see Marco's expression after tasting the meal."That woman, she's not a good person. She is just acting innocent to make you fall for her, she never appreciates and even tries to pick a fight with me anytime. That woman is really bad," Sophia halted in her tracks, her heart sinking at the voice of her mother-in-law speaking badly against her.

She doesn’t know what wrong she had done to Aurora to deserve such a bad image and description of her to her son, her husband.

The tray almost slipped off her hand as she beheld her husband’s stern facial expression."Divorce her soon. The rumors are gone anyway!" Aurora said and Sophia's heartbeat increased."That is enough, mother!" Marco stated and Sophia sighed in relief. Hope that her husband isn’t going to divorce her. With that, she took the chance to finally show up with the tray in her hands."I’m sorry for making you wait." She apologized with her gaze down.

She dared not look anyone in the eyes as she silently placed each plate in front of them."What does that smell? Did you prepare this food with that smelly clothes of yours? I have lost my appetite" Aurora hissed glaring at Sophia.

She felt her feet sinking and getting weak from the insults and look of disdain from her mother-in-law, her hands gave in too as the plates slipped off her hands.

She watched the food she made with love sprayed on the floor with the plates shattered. Her heart was shattering too.

Her eyes collided with Marco’s dark gaze, and her legs were about to run when she heard his baritone voice calling for her."Sophia" This was the first time Marco had called her by her name, and her heartbeat had risen rapidly. She turned and stared at him.

Marco brought out a document and threw it at her, the papers flying to her."Sign it" "What?" "We're getting a divorce,"

Marco's cold voice reached her ear and she froze on the spot.
