Watching Killian walk out of the room was one thing, but knowing that I was going to be locked up and monitored for eternity felt like a gnawing fury on my nerves.

My fingers ran through each strand of my hair as I paced around the room. Frustration, depression, and anger gnawed at my insides.

“His mate? Was I considered his mate when he agreed to marry Scarlet? What stupidity is this? What reality of pain is this?” I panicked, my lips clenched between my teeth.

I wanted to leave. I wanted to run as far away as I could from this madness, away from the scary world, away from the Blackwood pack, away from Killian!

As I kept pacing back and forth in the room, my mind consumed with nothing but pain and anger, the sudden loud ringing of the bells caught my attention, making me halt briefly.

“It’s happening… they are about to take the oath!” At that moment, my heart felt so heavy, like a burden had fallen on me, and I couldn’t help but feel broken.
