CHAPTER ONE: SUICIDE OR MURDER
Vanessa enrolled her in a school in America and it was there that she began to discover her hidden interest in solving crimes and different types of cases.
It was the first day of school, just nine years after the accident, an anticipated thing happened.
Raine was at the library when she heard someone screamed. It came from the lowest part of the building.
She stood up from her chair. Leaving the book at the table.
She struggled to huddle towards the other students hoping to find out what happened.
Her eyes widened when she saw a senior highschool student lying around the floor of the teacher's comfort room. Dead.
Ms. Cassandra Collins was the one who screamed. According to her, she was the first one to saw the victim at that area.
The teacher immediately called the police department and also the ambulance who then quickly responded.
Vanessa was called, too. She was a private investigator just like Raine's mother.
"Just stay here, Raine. It's very dangerous. The culprit might be still lurking around the area," replied her aunt. Seeming to be a little overprotective. " Are you alright? Let me check if you have scratches!"
" Auntie, I'm not the reason why you came here, remember?" she reminded sheepishly.
" Oh, right! I'm just so happy that you're alright!" Vanessa responded.
For Raine, her aunt was a little more overprotective than her mother.
While the police and the school staffs were tackling about everything that happened, Raine saw a strange mark at the victim's neck.
She eagerly inspected the area, hoping to find more clues about the real incident.
The others taught that the student might commit suicide but for her, it might be a murder.
The police then interrogated all the school staffs one by one at the headmaster's office.
"I was just inside my office since I came here at school," said the school Headmaster.
"We are all at the cafeteria. Miss Claire, our new co- teacher, gave us free snacks for her blowout," replied the professors.
" Every teacher was there except Professor Collins," added another professor.
" You're right! I don't think I saw her there with you," Miss Claire agreed.
" How did you find the victim, Professor Collins?" the Inspector asked.
" I am the adviser of Section 5 of the senior highschool students. When I checked the attendance, I noticed that one of my students was absent even though I saw him when I was passing on their locker room. After my class, I went to the comfort room to put on my lipstick. At the time I opened the door, I saw Johnny lying there dead!" Professor Collins responded. Her voice shivering in fear.
It was on our recess when the crime happened. Every students were obviously at the cafeteria, the library, or at the basketball court to see their favorite team practicing.
"You said that you saw him at the locker room. After that, haven't you noticed something suspicious happening?" Vanessa asked.
Professor Collins was still trembling as if she was hiding somthing from them. " I noticed that he was bullying his classmate. He was pulling her hair. Then Ms. Claire Francisco separated the two and lectured Johnny."
"Yes, I lectured Johnny. This is not the first time he bullied that girl because of her dark skin and curly hair. But after my lecturing, I don't know anything that happened next," Professor Claire added.
"Did the victim have a problem about his family or his schooling?" Vannessa asked.
"Since his parents died two years ago, he began to change. He started to bully other students here and from that time his grades fell. We pitied his grandmother who was left to care for him and that is why we just let him passed," replied the oldest professor teaching at the school, Professor Gomez.
A taxi came in the school with Johnny's grandmother in it. Tears began to fall down her wrinkled face as she saw his beloved grandson. She bursted with tears as she watched Johnny being taken to the ambulance.
Inspector Smith sight. His eyes full of pity. "In this case, Ma'am, there is a probability that this is just an accident. He just slipped on the slippery floor," he spoke.
The floor was indeed slippery as the water from the open faucets mix with it. But who? Who among them killed Johnny?
"Your necklace is amazing, Professor. Where did you buy that?" Vanessa asked Professor Claire.
"Uh, this? My sister gave this to me." The professor leisurely touch her fabulous necklace while she was showing it to Vanessa.
After a while, the bell rang symbolizing the end of recess time.
"Alright, ya'll. Breaktime's over. Go back to yer classes," said the Headmaster.
"Uh... How about us, Sir? Our classes will begin thirty minutes from now," asked a senior highschool student.
"Reina's right so technically we still have thirty minutes of break time ahead of us," her friend stated.
"You should probably head back to yer room, too. I'm sure ya'll just interrupt the investigation," added the Headmaster.
"And did you forget that we have a quiz today?" Mrs. Gomez asked.
"Oh, right! Gosh!" the senior high students gasped.
"Now head back their and make sure you review your notes. When I see anyone fail, you will see your foolishness!" she shouted to her students.
Raine, together with the others, went back to their quarters.
For Raine, it might be easier to think when she's inside her room.
For now, I have a ninety five percent chance that he or she is the real murderer, she thought. Taking a glance to her culprit.
"Forgive me, Inspector, co-teachers, dear Headmaster. I'm sorry if I overreacted to my students," Professor Gomez spoke.
"Oh, it's alright, Mrs. Gomez. You did a great job on giving them discipline," Vanessa replied with a smile.
CHAPTER TWO: THE FIRST CASE SOLVED"Hmm... Are you sure Johnny just slipped on the wet floor, Inspector? I mean, according to my observations, there must be some sort of a more complicated murder incident," Vanessa asked Inspector Smith."I know, Garcia. I just told them about that so that I can find another lead to this murder case," the Inspector replied. "Actually, I don't want to make the students panic. Especially now that there are many murder things happening here in our city!""Well, it's really a threat to students here," Vanessa sighed."Inspector!" one of the police officers called. "The analysts says that there were strange markings on the boy's neck," he added.Thinking about the same thing, Inspector Smith snapped his finger and said, "I knew it! The murderer might be one of the students or one of the school staffs!"
CHAPTER THREE: THE HIGHSCHOOL DETECTIVEAnd finally, after ten years of staying in America, Raine decided to go back to the Philippines. For the fact that she earned some coins from solving cases, she decided to continue her second semester in the Philippines. She was in the twelfth grade and was taking the course of Computer Engineering. At first, Vanessa didn't agreed for the reason that the sindicates might still be looking for her but at the end, she finally said her 'yes'."Hey, guys! Guess where I am!" she said to her best friends from the Philippines in their video chat."Hmm... Let me guess! Many people,"Shaira, her best friend since she's studying in the Philippines, spoke. Having no clue where Raine's really is, "... and then?"In their group, Shaira's the joker kind of girl who always tells funny jokes. At the same time, she's also into fashion.I can't believe sh
CHAPTER FOUR: CONFIDENTIAL CLUES"Can you believe it? Detective Lorraine Leanne Garcia, that's so cool!" Lani beamed as they walk towards their school."Lani, shh!" Raine shuddered. "What if someone hears you?""But how can you be a real detective if no one here knows you?" Lani asked.Raine's eyes widened. All she wanted to do is to bring justice to her parents death but as time passes she feels the longing to follow the footsteps of her father. However, Lani does have a point!"Hey, aren't you the famous highschool detective in America? At the time I first saw you on the television, I became your fan!" said a junior highschool student. Approaching Raine excitedly."Of course she is! She's my best friend which is very talented, brave, and also a genius!" Lani boasted. For Raine, there is only one thing to do. If the people knew that she's a mystery solver, she have

Her heart beating faster by the minute."Nia! Mom, Dad!" Raine shouted. Waking herself up from her nightmares.Tears sprung on her eyes as she woke up. Hugging her pillow tight."Raine," she heard someone spoke."Sweetheart," the voice added, "are you alright?"She was startled when she saw her Aunt standing beside her. Waving her hand. "Au- Auntie?""Yep!""But you didn't say anything to me about your leaving! H- How about your work in States?""Well, they say that I'm not complete without my partner," Vanessa answered."They really said that? Did they... Did they fire you?""No. Actually I was sent here by you-know-who. We received a report that the

It's a well-known hotel," replied Vanessa, "and we're staying there for three days."And finally, after the long wait, the day has finally come when the trip was scheduled. Raine packed up the things she'll need in order to be prepared of what might happen on their way. Traveling through car still gives her the creeps. While they were on their way, Raine opened her phone. Scrolling her social media account. The hotel's in lockdown," said the owner's elder brother towards the crowd gathered around the corridor, "Now head back to your rooms and tell your love ones you'll be staying here for a while."Raine paused, waiting for her friends to come back. As the two passed by, their arguing began echoing throughout the corridor."I told you to hurry!" Lani exclaimed."You're the one who's behind me," replied Zane.Being interrupted by their arguing, the two didn't noticed Raine who was standing in front of them. Shaira asked in a curious voice."I don't know," replied Raine, "but something tells me that they might be up for something."Meanwhile, at the other side of the room came the investigators. Searching for leads at the time when people around the building went to sleep. The well-known Inspector, Sean Alvarez, rushed towards the room. Do... Do you know who those people was?" asked Raine."One of them is my son's babysitter! I don't know who the others are! I don't even know how they come in without my security guards knowing," the lady answered."I'll call the police," Raine spoke. But when she was about to type the sos number, she was interrupted by the touch of the lady on her hand."Don't worry. I already called them. They're probably on their way here," she spoke. "Now, let's head inside, shall we?"That touch immediately gave Raine the shivers gently rising towards her spine. However, with her longing to help and for being curious of what just happened, she had chosen to just go inside the house of the lady. The house was huge and

CHAPTER SIXTEEN: MEMORIES OF THE PASTThey all gave a private space for Jason and his father whereas Eduardo was arrested. "How did you found out that I was the real culprit? I was certain you will accuse my brother because I chose to study his every move and his style for clothing," said Eduardo as they were walking across the hall."It was quite tricky at first actually," Raine replied then began to state what she discovered:When we first entered the hotel, it was Sir Fred who greeted us. I was certain of that especially when Jason said that he uses his mom's perfume. After that he went to the other staircase opposite from ours when he was called by his son. But actually, that was your first plan. Jason told us that you told him to pretend to be sick in order to get his attention — so you can take over his identity and no one will suspect that it was you, especially when they all didn't know that you were here.According to Inspector Alvarez, Fre

Seeming to search something or someone else."So what can you say about the several cases of death in this hotel?" asked the reporter to the hotel's owner. "Is that because of the ghosts?""Actually, there's a scientific explanation for that and science says that ghosts don't exist!" Raine interfered. The reporters' attention were caught followed by their cameras and microphones turned to her."I researched a lot about this place recently and I found out that the number of deaths and accidents that happened here is just because this hotel is one of the famous hotels in the country.
