I still remember

On the way we listened to music quietly in the car. I closed my eyes as I leaned back in my seat and let the warm sun hit my face. Suddenly I heard someone clear their throat. I opened my eyes and turned to look at who was the culprit.

Jake was staring straight ahead, seemingly concentrating hard on driving. I furrowed my eyebrows, wondering what he was doing. I decided to ask him instead of waiting until he decides to tell me what was up.

“So… what did you need to talk to me about yesterday? You weren't acting very friendly at all."

He sighed and slowed down the car, turning to face me. “Look, Claire. I know that I haven't been acting super nice lately and that you've been upset about it, I just needed to apologize. I won't be as rude and mean as I have been recently; I promise.”

“Thanks.” I smiled. He returned the smile and continued driving.
