Rose's POV

"Adriel,” I whispered with a drumming heart. The air around us thickened, as we stared at each other, not knowing what to say or do.

Adriel's eyes, a mesmerizing shade of deep blue, bore into mine with a flicker of surprise.

It was as if everyone present faded away, leaving only the two of us standing there, in a staring competition.

I felt my heart race in my chest, pounding with a mixture of hurt and fear.

The scent that had drawn me here, was coming from him, although deep down I wished it was someone else.

Adriel was my mate, the one person destined to be with me for eternity but as I stared into his eyes, images from last night flashed in my mind and I knew it was all a fantasy for me to think he'll ever be mine.

Adriel's lips parted as if he wanted to say something, but the words seemed to elude him.

I could see the conflict in his expression, the struggle of finding what to say and how to say it. He couldn't call me his mate because of Fena, his lover.
