Episode Three

CHAPTER THREE

SARAH'S POV

"Here, I got you a cup of coffee" the woman said as she handed the cup to me

"Thanks mum!" I said and sipped from it

Celine just sat there staring at me, I think she only realized that I referred to the stranger as my mom

"I would go get the bathtub ready, you need that to calm your nerves" the lady said and I nodded, not without a smile though

Almost immediately after she left, Celine moved to where I was sitted

I knew what it was about, but I let her ask first

"Mom? Do you even know her? You have been acting weirdly since I found you in the woods, please tell me, what's Wrong?" I only stared at her, not knowing how to give an an answer, to be honest, I didn't know what I was doing either, I didn't know what I was getting myself into, but I couldn't help but want to feed my curiosity

"Don't give me the silent treatment Sarah, I thought your mother was dead, or did your grandpa lie? How did you even know she is your mom? You said you had never seen her" she bombarded me with questions

I was going to give her answers, but not the correct ones, who knows, the impersonator could be eavesdropping on our conversation

"Well, I have seen my mother's portrait and she looks exactly like that, not even the slightest difference, well, only that she looks a bit older now" I started, that wasn't a wrong answer though

"She, not having any difference with your mother, doesn't mean, you should trust her that easily, I mean , you of all people should know that" she scolded

"You know I have been longing to have a mother all of my life, I never knew what it felt like to be cared for, by a mother, and now I find out she is still alive, and you expect me to push her away?" I asked, the pitch of my voice slowly rising

"What! I can't believe this is coming from you, do you…"

"I know what I'm doing Celine, she is my mother and I forgive her for whatever she has done to me" I cut in

"She never even apologized, she never introduced herself as your mother, she could….she…could be someone else, this place is just weird, everything and everyone is weird, so I wouldn't be surprised if she is an impersonator" she said on and on, but I remained adamant

"Tell you what! While I was slipping in and out of consciousness, I saw a human transforming into a wolf, and then back to a human, he was chasing after a lady" she said, it was then, that I realized what happened to me today, or was it yesterday? I couldn't even keep track of time....What happened to me wasn't a dream

The question is, how comes when I woke up, I didn't find any scar on my belly

How did I survive such a brutal stab?

"Girls! Is anything the matter? I didn't mean to eavesdrop but I overheard your conversation" the woman said

"It's nothing, Celine is just been paranoid" I said and she smiled at her

"I can't believe you Sarah" she said again, and then and there, I had it all

"You know what! I think it's better you leave, go back to your home, you have overstayed your welcome" I said harshly. I didn't mean it that way, but I had to look and sound real, I also needed her out of this place, so that, should anything bad happen, she wouldn't be harmed

"What?" She didn't need to say it, she was hurt and shocked at the same time

"Alright! Fine! I was leaving anyway" she said as she struggled not to burst into tears

She grabbed her stuff and stormed off the house

"You really didn't have to do that dear" my mom said and I sighed

"Why was she acting up that way, is it Wrong to want to spend my days here with you?" I said in a sobb, a fake one if you asked

"I understand, but you do know that she has a point, I mean, you have never seen me in reality, just my portrait, and coupled with the story your grandpa told you, and also finding me here, in a place, where everyone is weird… she should be paranoid" the woman said, as she placed her hand on my shoulders

"Everyone behaves weirdly here? Well even if that is so, it is rational that I find you here, because this is literally your inheritance too" I explained and she smiled. What did I say? How was it her inheritance too, sigh! What ever though, I was not thinking properly after all

"Not everyone sees it that way, you see it this way, because of the mother and daughter bond" she explained, as though I was a six years old, I didn't complain though, I just listened

"I'm sorry, I haven't…." She began to apologise, but I didn't let her

It was pissing me off and taking almost all of my self control to not burst out in anger

"I just want to be with you mum" I said and she hugged me

"What's the stuff that happened when I came in here, I mean, everywhere turned dark, with that loud bang, like an explosion, when everywhere became normal again, it wasn't a sight to behold, and now, everything seems normal again, the town doesn't look as though it was bombed or something, I'm confused" I asked and she heaved a loud sigh

"Go and have your bath first, and come to the table for breakfast, I would explain all that to you when we're done" she said and I nodded
