POV: AARON
I laughed darkly, plunging my hands into his abdomen and tearing through his entrails. Driven by sheer hatred, the wretched wolf crawled toward the injured creature on the ground, gripping her shoulders and blaming her for all his curses. A true coward.
I stopped behind him, predatory, my eyes locking onto the wolves, who I now realized were blind. The rumors were true—this wolf was despicable and revolting. Pulling my claws from his stomach, I drove them through his chest, ripping out his still-beating heart. I squeezed it tighter and tighter until its rhythm slowed and the organ burst in my hands. Hunter collapsed, his body sliding off the fragile wolves and crumbling at her feet.
The image, though blurred, took shape in the darkness. My mind returned to the present, and I found myself staring in surprise at the wolves I had supported in my lupine arms.
“What was that?” I whispered, astonished, realizing there was more to this creature than her apparent weakness and blindness. “God, what are you planning with all of this? These wolves are useless.”
I growled irritably, clenching my fists as my wolf stirred within me, driven by an instinct to protect her. Swirls of leaves danced around our bodies, carried by the wind. I raised my snout toward the city, where the acrid scent of burning flesh filled the air.
With one free claw, I grabbed the Lycan king's body and decapitated him, his head rolling to the ground. I noticed the wolves recoiling in fear, trembling, and struggling to move. Yet, despite the overwhelming pressure of my power and the severity of her injuries, she refused to yield, positioning herself defensively.
She was, indeed, the daughter of Alpha Hunter. I carefully examined her frail body: her ribs jutted sharply under her skin, her hind legs were broken, and the stench of male wolf urine was nauseating. I sniffed closer, detecting internal bleeding and several broken ribs, likely the cause of her punctured lung.
I stepped closer, holding the Alpha’s severed head as a trophy, intending to display it on a stake at the city’s entrance. Countless questions swirled in my mind. Vengeance was inevitable, but why had the goddess guided me to these blind wolves? How had the scene of my battle with Hunter played out in both of our minds? That connection... Her fears, her pain, her darkness consuming me. What was all of this?
I growled in frustration, causing the delicate wolves to shrink back even further.
POV: CALLIE
Stunned by the scenes and his words, I dragged myself backward, staying on the defensive and growling.
“How dare you threaten our Alpha?” the Beta snarled, stomping toward me from a direction I couldn’t pinpoint.
“Get out of my way, Jaxon,” the Alpha thundered, his reprimand sharp. The scent of fear thickened in the air. This wolf was so powerful that even his pack feared him.
I shrank further into the ground, fully aware that if he attacked me, I wouldn’t have the strength to defend myself.
“If you’re going to kill me, make it quick... I’ve suffered enough!” I growled at the wolf before me, unable to see him.
His hands moved in my direction, and I sharpened my hearing, rolling to the side and pushing off with my front paws to evade his touch. The ground trembled with each step the Lycan king took, and I realized he was closing in, trying to corner me. I rolled to the other side again, but a wave of pain shot through my hind legs as they scraped the ground. Trembling violently, I growled in agony—my legs were broken, and even the smallest movement sent excruciating pain through my body.
“Your instincts are sharp. Interesting, blind wolf... If you survive this night, I’ll give you a chance to integrate into my pack!” he growled menacingly. Without effort, the wolf lifted me off the ground and slung me over what felt like his shoulders. I bit him, trying to break free.
“Stop struggling. You’re too injured and far too weak to fight or escape,” he said firmly.
“Why are you doing this? I’m nothing,” I growled in frustration. “Just end my life already!”
“And miss the chance to find out why the goddess led me to you? Not a chance,” the Alpha said, his voice laced with irony.
“The Goddess?” I mumbled, confused, turning my head to try to pick up where we were using my ears and nose. The strong smell of alcohol filled the air. “Are we at a hospital? That fast?”
I was placed on what felt like a gurney.
“Treat the wolf as one of us. She is the priority. If she survives the night, notify me,” he ordered impatiently.
Despite the Alpha’s words, my legs were yanked downward with force, producing a loud crack. I wanted to scream, but my dislocated jaw made it impossible. I sensed someone approaching; by the smell, it seemed to be a human doctor, likely hired by a stronger pack in exchange for protection against other creatures.
“This is the hospital. Let’s sedate her so we can treat her,” a male voice said.
“This wolf is blind and useless to our pack. She’s not a priority; wasting resources on this dead weight is pointless,” a high-pitched female voice retorted. I didn’t recognize her scent—she seemed to be a new wolf.
“Kemilly, these are direct orders from our Alpha. He said this wolf’s care is a priority. I serve Aaron, and I’ll follow his commands!” the man snapped harshly at the wolf.
“Fine, but in her condition, she won’t survive the night,” Kemilly laughed, and I sensed her stepping away.
“I’m sorry for what they’ve done to you. What happened?” the doctor sighed, his hand reaching toward me. I whimpered, curling into myself even more and letting out a hostile growl.
“I know it hurts. I’m sorry, but I’m not here to harm you. You’ll be okay. You’re a strong wolf.”
“Who are you?” I whispered weakly, feeling a prick in my flesh as drowsiness began to take over. My mind drifted away, but not before I heard him say:
POV: CALLIE“I am Ryan, little wolf,” he said, his voice smooth and genuine, a rare quality among scents. Only in my mother and Orion had I sensed such aromas.I blacked out completely, finding myself in front of a stream with crystal-clear waters where carp leaped, trying to ascend a violent waterfall.“Look at that. Despite the water’s overwhelming strength and the current dictating their paths, the carp persist, fighting against it in search of their own destinies,” an angelic voice echoed behind me.I turned, surprised to find no one there. I returned my gaze to the water, startled by the reflection. Scenes unfolded, revealing the image of a man with an aura of power and beauty. He had striking features and an impressive physique. His chiseled jawline and expressive eyes radiated determination and intensity. His hair, perhaps dark and thick, fell in controlled wildness over his forehead, adding an air of mystery and rebellion. His physique was imposing, with well-defined muscles t
POV: AARONA whisper from afar caught my attention, pulling my focus to a specific spot in the room during a meeting with my subordinates, where we were drafting a plan to attack the other packs. I felt eyes on me—fear, uncertainty, and a desperate need for protection hung heavy in the air. My wolf roared in my chest, tearing at me with an impulsive instinct to run to the blind wolf and stay by her side.“Lycan King?” the Beta called, glancing toward the point where my gaze was fixed. “Is everything alright?”I growled, making the table tremble, and all the wolves shrink back, lowering their heads.“Draft a solid plan. Present your reasons for attacking this pack—I’m not convinced about this one,” I said, pointing to the map, feeling my wolf's warning grow louder.“Where are you going, my king?” Jaxon asked.I roared, forcing him to take a few steps back and crouch in his human form in reverence.“Forgive me, my king,” he whispered through clenched teeth.I strode out of the room, and
POV: AARON“Come, wolf, we’re going for a walk!” I motioned to the doctor, who removed her IV lines. I picked her up, and she shifted nervously in my arms. Furthermore, I noticed her ears swiveling in various directions, along with her nose sniffing constantly. Perhaps this was her unique way of seeing through other senses.“Are you going to kill me?” she whispered, trembling.“If I were, what would you do?” I replied curtly, studying her reactions.“I would smile at my fate, but not before begging you to make it quick, almost painless,” she said, surprising me. Her nose brushed against my neck, sending shockwaves through my entire body.“What is your name, Wolf?”“My name?” She raised her head, her fur brushing against my nose, making it itch. I shifted, and she seemed to notice, lowering her head again. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to bother you.”“You have a name, don’t you? Or should I call you ‘blind one’? ‘Fool’? ‘Wolf’?” I growled impatiently. “Stop apologizing—it’s irritating!”“Sorr
POV: CALLIEI considered running. I knew the area well, and that was my advantage. Years of being hunted like prey had sharpened my survival instincts. My sense of smell was my sight, and I remembered the scent of every tree in that forest. My mother was a wise wolf, one Hunter had captured from another city. I didn’t know exactly which pack she had belonged to. During one of my father’s fits of rage, after he tore into my flesh during a hunt and threw me against a rock, I heard him roar:“I thought with Lyra’s rare bloodline, I’d have strong descendants, but no! The goddess decided to punish us and curse us because of you. The disgrace of the pack!” he bellowed, tearing a piece of skin from my belly with his fangs.“I don’t know if you’re daydreaming or plotting an escape.” Aaron’s voice pulled me back to the present.“I.” I murmured, swallowing the lump in my throat, unsure how much I should say. “I can’t explain how I did that. I just know you shouldn’t go there if you value your l
POV: CALLIE“If you want to survive, blind wolf, you’ll have to learn to shift, or I’ll hurt you until you do!” Kemilly spat maliciously. “It’ll be my pleasure to rid this world of the dead weight you represent.”My heart raced, pounding intensely, as I trembled uncontrollably, fully aware that her threats were far from empty. I felt a sharp pressure in my stomach, as if I’d been kicked and slammed hard against the wall. Letting out a desperate growl, I gasped for air, trying to lift myself up.“Get up, wolf! Shift!” the enraged wolf roared. “I can do this all day.”“I don’t know how.” I whispered, feeling my head being yanked up by my fur. “Please… it hurts!”“We’re just getting started, you disgusting creature,” Kemilly sneered with a laugh. “Why would the Alpha make me, his future Luna, waste time on something as insignificant as you?”Oddly, the mention of “future Luna” hurt more than the physical wounds themselves. I growled at her threateningly, my anger flaring.“Oh, you don’t
POV: AARONThe wolf seemed to notice my presence, bowing slightly in my direction. I growled in reproach at Kemilly, grabbing her by the throat. That wolf irritated me deeply, but I knew I couldn’t eliminate her without a valid reason—not at this moment. Left alone with Callie, my wolf erupted in my chest, forcing its way to the surface in a shift, something that had never happened before. The internal conflict between my human and wolf sides had been constant since the first time I caught her scent. I cornered her near the wall, overwhelmed by a growing need to feel her fur against mine. I noticed her surprise as I rubbed against her, equally startled by my own reactions.“Let’s go!” I growled irritably at her, observing how, despite her lack of vision, she walked without stumbling or bumping into anything, her nose working tirelessly to guide her.Jaxon approached, glancing between the blind wolf and me, letting out a low growl of discontent.“We’ve gathered the information about th
POV: CALLIEI felt Aaron moving directly toward his final destination, and a chill ran down my spine in alarm. Just like in the vision, I knew the outcome of this attack. My wolf stirred restlessly, something inside me begging to stop him and get him out of there before he succumbed.“Guide the Supreme Alpha.” The divine voice reached me with a command.Risking everything, I threw myself in front of him, forcing him to step back. The Goddess’s signs were becoming clearer in my mind. Sniffing the air, a breeze brushed through my fur, drawing scents along a path that led us to mud pits to escape the poisoned claws of the Alphas.“A lake…” I whispered inside the grotto after rolling through the mud, then ran deeper into its depths. With cautious steps, the ground vibrated, signaling that the wolves were following me and stopping near the flowing waters.“Where does this channel lead?” the Beta asked.“Follow the path.” The angelic, divine voice of the moon whispered again, guiding us.“W
POV: AARONThe perceptions of the blind wolf were intriguing. When she mentioned that the goddess had guided her, my wolf settled, seemingly in agreement with her response. Few wolves ever received answers from the Deity; only her chosen ones held such a privilege—and I was once one of them. The moon spared my life on the night of the attack, when Hunter cruelly murdered my family, dragging their bodies through the city for all to see his power. My younger siblings, Zai and Zeni, were only ten years old and were killed savagely while trying to protect Davina, who was six. The three had been playing near the clearing. That night, I received the first call from the goddess, guiding me away from the pack. Her whispers led me to a waterfall, where I saw her resplendent lupine form, sitting majestically on a massive rock amidst the fierce currents of the relentless river.“Your destiny will change painfully tonight, my child,” the divinity resonated. “I feel your pain; many of my children
POV: CALLIEI shifted into my Lupine form with great difficulty, my lungs straining under the crushing weight of water filling them. The air in the broken memory was dense, suffocating. It felt like a thousand blades were stabbing into my back and ribs. But I knew—I had to survive.I started running, darting beneath Hunter’s legs as he roared in fury, reaching out to grab me. I chased after the torn ribbon as if my life depended on it—because it did.Hunter was relentless, bloodthirsty, whistling coldly as he pursued me.“I’m going to catch you, prey!” he laughed through his fangs.I leaped, grasping the broken ribbon and merging it with the other just as Hunter seized my leg, trying to drag me back. The memories fused together, freezing the world around me. I felt myself being pulled out, yanked back to the starting
POV: CALLIE“Who are you?” I demanded, taking a few steps back from the menacing wolf behind me.“Have you already forgotten your king and father?” Hunter's cold voice rang out, his eyes gleaming with malice. “How am I seeing you here when your carcass is curled up on the ground like trapped prey? Can you see?”There was surprise in his tone.I looked again at the wounded she-wolf on the ground, feeling the ferocity of my beast stir at the sight of her—injured, cowering, trembling, and threatened.Hunter grabbed my hair roughly, yanking me toward him with a sharp breath.“How are you doing this?” he snarled through his fangs.“Don’t touch me!” I growled, my claws extending as I slashed at him the moment he let go. I dropped to my knees, but I felt no impact.Be
POV: AARON“Love?” I murmured upon waking, Callie’s words still echoing in my mind. “How can she say that?”My wolf growled inside my chest, protesting my words.“You can’t be considering these feelings, beast… We know the bond messes with our minds and emotions!” I snarled back. “Even so, I can no longer deny that I want her with us.”Those words seemed to excite my wolf, who leaped eagerly within my mind, pushing me forward with a surge of energy.“Let me out.”“We need to return to the pack, eliminate the impostor pretending to be Callie, figure out how she managed to look exactly like her, and uncover who’s behind this plan,” I growled firmly. “If our enemies are capable of infiltrating us this way—shifting appearances—it means we have a serious problem. W
POV: AARON“No bond?” I clenched my hands nervously. Would that mean no Alpha in my dreams?“I'm afraid we don't have time for training and tests. It's only a matter of time before Nocturnus enters the city,” Lyra said.“But the wolves stopped, afraid to follow us here.” I commented, still in shock.“Even werewolves fear ghosts, especially powerful ones,” Yulli laughed, amused. “But that doesn’t apply to creatures controlled by Nocturnus.”“I…” I bit my lip, nervous. “I don’t want to lose my wolf. She’s part of who I am.”I didn’t want to admit out loud that I wasn’t just afraid of losing my wolf—I also feared never having him in my dreams again. No more feeling his gentle touches, his dominant kisses, and the sinful way he claimed my body. My face
POV: AARON“Some prey think they’re hunters. Sometimes, we have to leave our comfort to hunt down treacherous rats.” Keenan smirked sharply, scraping his claws against the table.“You bastard! Who the hell are you calling a rat?” Jaxon lunged toward him but stopped when Keenan lifted his head, meeting his gaze with icy indifference.“Forget it. If this is what the council wants and the Supreme Alpha’s decision, then take my place, and I’ll take yours.”“You will not!” The Supreme Beta’s threatening roar startled everyone—except me. Watching this power struggle was a pleasure; it allowed me to gauge the strength of my warriors within the pack.“If you can’t even handle simple management tasks and the protection of the Lycan King, what makes you think you’re capable of leading a central city?”
POV: AARONAfter the full moon, the city finally settled. The wolf howls faded, and the stillness of the night took over. Callie fell asleep in my arms, her body completely relaxing. Carefully, I carried her inside, laying her gently on the bed. I sank down beside her, running my fingers tenderly through her hair. I was exhausted, but a crooked smile formed on my lips as I looked at her. Furthermore, I truly wanted to care for and protect this wolf and her child.“Ours…” I corrected myself automatically, furrowing my brow at my own reaction. The word echoed in my mind.I stretched out my hand, hesitating for a moment before placing it on her belly. Leaning in, I tried to listen for the tiny, strong heartbeat inside her. A sudden kick met my touch, and I couldn’t help but smile—a genuine, admiring smile.“You’re already strong, little one. Are you trying to protect your mo
POV: CALLIEAaron stroked my hair while another movie played on the TV. Out of curiosity, I reached out to feel its shape, yawning despite my efforts to resist exhaustion, afraid that the dark god would be waiting for me there.“You know you'll have to sleep at some point,” the Alpha murmured, his voice slightly drowsy. “You don’t have to worry. I’ll be there with you.”“Even so, I’m not ready to face him,” I admitted, tracing my fingers idly across his bare chest, the tips tingling against his warm, smooth skin.“You don’t have to face him, little wolf. Leave the battles to me,” Aaron pressed a lingering kiss to the top of my head.“You’re exhausted too. And I don’t want to depend on anyone when it comes to battle…” I sighed, sitting up in bed. “I need to get stronger for Rigan.”
POV: AARONI asked the cook to make a homemade pizza. Honestly, it had been a while since I had eaten something like that too. It seemed like a great excuse and opportunity for a moment with Callie. I pulled her into my arms, wrinkling my nose at the TV screen, where the movie title stood out: “A Love Beyond Life.”I had never watched romantic movies, not even when past girlfriends asked me to go to the movies. Furthermore, I always preferred horror films… Maybe because I was used to a harsh life filled with battles.“You seem hesitant.” Callie whispered, settling her back against my chest, giving me a tempting view of her bare body. I bit my lips and pulled the sheet over her, knowing that otherwise I wouldn't be able to focus on any movie.“If you want, I can get dressed,” she offered.“And miss the chance to admire you from time to time? Not
POV: CALLIEI felt strange, a latent voracity burning inside my chest. I entered the bathroom, panting, letting out occasional growls, and smirked, feeling oddly pleased.“Wolf, you’re back?” I murmured to my inner beast, who grunted in response. “Did you really have to return like this? We’re trying to avoid the Alpha, not become his.”My wolf protested in my mind, her presence laced with lust, restless within my chest. I felt a significant improvement below my belly, as if she were working to protect our pup with her healing power. The sensation stirred the baby awake, making him kick excitedly, as if he recognized my beast’s return.“Thank you for coming back.” I placed my hand over my chest, clenching it into a fist. “I was afraid without you… Nocturnus reached us in a dream. I fear sleeping.”In my mind, my wolf appr
