His cold demeanor

"I'm sorry," I say quickly, feeling a lump forming in my throat.

"Where did you go?" he growls, crossing his arms across his chest.

"To visit mom," I reply, avoiding his gaze.

Without another word, he starts to walk away. As soon as he gets out of my sight, I begin to run as fast as I can towards my bedroom.

Once I enter, I shut the door behind me and lean against it. My knees start to buckle as I slide down the door until I sit on the carpet. Tears threaten to fall down my face, but I refuse to cry.

I know that he doesn't mean it. All he did was yell at me in anger. Why would he still hold a grudge against me after everything we've gone through? Even though he said that he loves me, the way he said those words made me feel so guilty.

He hates me. But I still want him to stay.

After what happened last night, I understand completely what it means to be a woman. If there is one thing I hate the most, it's being treated like I'm fragile or weaker than a piece of glass.
