Narrator-Alpha Asher backed away from the handmade crib, and stood at a distance with his arms crossed, as he admired his handiwork. The crib was painted white, the wood itself included carved images of wolves, stars, and the different phases of the moon. Asher smiled proudly, as he looked around the room decorated with shades of blue and yellow. The furnished space had everything necessary for a nursery, plush toys sat atop every furniture, and a mobile spun above the crib, with tiny wolves, moons, and pine trees. There was a nursing chair sitting in the corner next to the crib. There was also a small shelf, packed with books and bedtime stories.Aside from the child-friendly decorations, there were also photographs of the Alpha and Luna. The Luna's pregnancy shots were also displayed, as well as that of the Luna and Alpha in wolf form, near the lake that bordered the pack on the north end. The room was kept warm, the lights soft. Everything a baby needs to feel comfortable. Asher pl
Narrator-*6 Months Later*Miranda exited the yellow cab, as the driver, an elderly gentleman wearing a gray patterned flat cap, opened the trunk to retrieve the two small luggage that Miranda carried on her trip.Lacing the duffel back across her back, Miranda took the crumpled forty dollars cash she had stuffed in her back pocket, and handing it to the driver with a small, "Thanks."The driver nodded in her direction with a smile, then he hopped back into the car, and drove away. Miranda sighed, looking at the receding cab, before turning her eyes back to the small white cottage-like home that belonged to her aunt. The front was painted white, with two large windows, adorned by red and yellow flowers that were planted in the bed below the windowsill. Grabbing her luggage, Miranda began heading towards the front door. The front yard had green grass, along with various plants placed around the yard, surrounded by large beige rocks. There was a coconut tree growing near the far-right co
Narrator-Miranda opened the two-door 1978 Mint Green Beetle, the driver's door squeaking at it's hinges, as if the underlying rust surrounding it's frame wasn't enough to display it's vintage years. At the sound, Miranda winced internally. She sent a quick look towards her aunt, who seemed more excited than Miranda, then towards the Mechanic, who's furrowed brow told Miranda that parting with this car wasn't easy. Miranda carefully lowered herself into the beige-colored fabric seat, and instantly sighed in comfort. She turned her legs into the vehicle, then she closed the door.Noticing that the young girl was settled in the car, Bill the mechanic walked around to the passenger's side where he opened the door with the aim of entering the car as well."Not so fast Bill," Aunt May spoke up, "take the backseat," she continued, "if you're taking this car for a test drive, I want to be there too."Bill opened his mouth to protest, but then paused. Miranda tried to hide her smile behind her
Miranda- I approached the car with a smile and instantly recognized the giddy grin on Jamie's lips. "Nanda, can I call you Nanda?" Was how Jamie greeted me as soon as I entered her white Jeep Wrangler. "Uh sure." I giggled slightly. "Cool," she pepped, "Nanda you look great! I think you'll fit right into the scene. No one will notice that you're new." "Fresh meat, you mean?" I echoed her words from earlier. "Well, now that you mention it, it may not be hard to see that you are a bit... different." Jamie stated hesitantly, her vision looking my way for a brief second, before focusing back on the road ahead. "Different how? I mean everyone will mostly be young, the only difference is that they stay up until the sunrise, when usually I'd be asleep." I imagined and Jamie released a short laugh. "Well, that may not be the only thing that sets you apart from the rest." She replied after her laughter died down. "Do I want to know...?" I trailed off, my fingers finding interest in eac
Asher- Joshua drove us to Georgie's and when we arrived, the place was already swarming with vampires and their feedbags. Most of the vampires who could afford a human slave had a warm body clinging onto their arms. We exited the car, and as soon as we began approaching the doors, the smell hit me, and the nausea shot a ball of bile up my throat. The stuffy odor of death, cold, mud and rotting leaves entered my nostrils, and made my stomach unsteady with queasiness. We walked up to the bouncers at the front, and as soon as they saw me, they stepped aside. Their sunken orbits looked my way with disgust, but I knew that they weren't brave enough to even hiss in my direction. So I smirked and walked passed them. We entered the building, and everyone took notice, like I expected them to. They parted and cleared the way to a booth area, where I noticed some of the other wolves hung about. We walked through the personal, custom-made path, and no one moved until me, Joshua and Deidran were
Miranda- Eyes. Gold-tinged pupils staring me down. I was helpless. He was growling. I was running. He was chasing after me. I ran blindly through the large pine trunks in the foggy forest. I could hear the thundering of wolf paws on the ground behind me. Mine...! I heard his voice claim. I felt like I was screaming, and yet not even a meek squeak sounded from my burning vocal cords. Mine! I heard him again. I looked behind me, and the wolf was gone. I turned back around and there he was. His golden vision staring me down. I crashed into his chest. His hands fell on my shoulders. His palms burned my skin, but it felt good. His sun-like orbs penetrated my dull brown ones, and he smiled. His canine teeth were sharp, but they were not straight like Jamie's or Georgie's. No, they were slightly dented with one longer fang, accompanied by a smaller one. He was a different creature. He pressed my form against his, and he lowered his face until it was directly above mine. His eyes. I
Narrator-The phone rang endlessly against Miranda's temple. She nibbled on her already shortened fingernails, while the vibrating sound of her unanswered call continued to thrum through the tissue of her eardrum.Miranda swallowed a gulp while her index finger escaped her lips only to be replaced by the leftmost corner of her ring finger. The taste of faded sweat salt and the slight sour tang of the skin cells filled her tongue, while her anxiety grew with every unanswered ring. The nibbling of her cuticles did not seize until a loud beep indicating the voicemail pierced Miranda's skull. Miranda quickly ended the call then plopped the device on her mattress. Then turning on her back, Miranda laid down. While staring at the grey tin ceiling of her shed-home, Miranda's mind began slipping along the images stored in her memory box, where sequences of the previous night performed on replay and with each repeat, Miranda seem to gain another piece of the puzzle of the night before. Narrator- While the apprised aunt and her oblivious niece shared lunch, across town in Georgie's lounge, the bar owner received an unexpected guest. The assassin snuck her way into the building and prepared to catch George off guard. But before she could make her final move, her plan was exposed. "I know it's you, Elaine." George spoke, while he saw to organizing the bar. Elaine, a tall, pale-skinned woman with long raven black hair and aqua blue globes suddenly dropped behind George. She wore all leather clothing, her lips painted blood red. "Georgie." she greeted with a traitorous smile. "And to what do I owe this pleasure?" George kept his voice neutral but continued on with his task. "Now, now is that any way to treat the daughter of the Mayor? Not to mention an old friend?" Elaine questioned with a cock of her head. George sighed and stood straight. He turned and faced Elaine who smiled her pearly white teeth along with her fangs. "That's better." She mused. "Why are you
Narrator-"You FOOLS!" Damien boomed while standing behind his desk and leaning on his forearms. The bald, pale vampire twins sat on the chairs facing the Mayor's desk. The one who sat to the right had his arms crossed and a blank look in his sunken eyes. His cheeks held no color, and the corners of his lips were slightly downturned, as if over the conversation like a teenager being scolded for lying. The twin who sat on the left picked at his long black nails, and grinded his teeth, which were darkened with thick black plaques at the root of his gums."You let her get away." Damien accused with a low tone which hardly matched the deadly and dangerous glint in his slit-like eyes."She didn't lose her Were abilities, even after all these years." The Right Twin said."That is still not an excuse," Damien counterargued sharply, making the twin blink and roll his eyeballs all at once, "I hired you for a job. Not to scale walls and cause property damage.""We'll catch her eventually. She c
Narrator-Joshua headed to Asher's office as soon as Ben and May took their leave without seeing Miranda. Choosing to keep Carolynn's arrival a secret from the human girl, the elderly couple returned to their cottage to clean up the crime scene from the night before.Meanwhile, Joshua approached Asher's desk with a worried frown masking his usual cheerful façade."What's the plan with Miranda?" Joshua asked Asher while taking a seat.Asher frowned slightly, "what do you mean?""I'm running out of places to hide her. Deidran came by to your room earlier looking for you and he found her." Joshua explained while looking at the Alpha."Why would he do that when he's the one who escorted Ben and May to my office?" Asher posed."My thoughts exactly," Joshua nodded, "You know how Deidran is, he's pissed that we left him out when we brought Miranda over.""Intimidating her is not going to make it any better." Asher analyzed."So what do we do?" Joshua wondered."I don't know." Asher sighed an
Narrator-As the hours of the day escaped into eternity, Asher couldn't help but entertain himself with the idea of having a relationship with Miranda. The Alpha often excused himself from his laptop, only to study the human girl while she sat on his bed and focused on her recipes. The Alpha admired her quirks and strange habits. When lost in her work, Miranda picked at her physique in the strangest ways. She bit the corners of her nails and picked at her cuticles. When she'd tire herself from that, she'd then crack her knuckles and roll her neck to release the pressure built around her cervical spine, then she'd proceed to bite the inner lining of her mouth.Around the mid-day hours, Miranda opted for a nap. As she slept soundly, Asher chanced to take a seat near her sleeping form. Miranda was lying on her back with her hand resting on her stomach. Her knees were pulled close, her neck turned to the left. Her hair had fallen slightly on her face. The Alpha carefully removed the hair
Narrator- Miranda tensed in Asher's lap and aimed to remove herself from his anatomy. However the Alpha had other plans. He placed an arm around her waist and pushed her pelvis against his own seated form. "Asher-" Miranda blurted out while trying to push herself off him, "let me go." "No, there's something I need to say." Asher answered coolly. "Okay, you can tell me while I'm standing." Miranda continued with her struggling. She pushed her elbows against his chest and side and squirmed in hopes of slipping free. "You've never sat on a man before, have you?" Asher quizzed, his physique getting excited beneath the squirming weight of the human girl. "Does it matter?" Miranda asked, now winded. "Yes. Stop moving." Asher warned her, but Miranda had other plans. "Asher, let me go." "Stop." Asher said sharply, and his voice was enough to turn Miranda into stone. Miranda breathed excitedly, a result of her exhausting attempt to free herself from Asher's strong hold, like a mosqui
Narrator- "You have to help me get out of here." Miranda stated, while rushing to pack up her personal belongings after taking a quick shower and dressing for the day. Anise sat on the bed, her hand petting the side on which Asher loved to sleep on. "Well, it is early morning, which means that both vampires and rogues are sleeping, making the forest relatively safe for you to escape." Anise explained, while frowning softly. "Exactly. So how do I get out of here?" Miranda wondered, while gathering her hair in her palms, before tying them above her skull in a ponytail. Miranda was too busy packing up to notice the forlorn visage which took over Anise's facial features. The once lively Luna now suffered phantom pains in her chest, as if her heart had been cut out, and yet her brain didn't understand that, and it all had to do with the way Asher looked at Miranda earlier. Anise knew it was selfish of her to change gears now and get Miranda as far away from Asher as possible, and yet t
Narrator- The brunette victim stared up at the dark-eyed vampire and predator, while her breasts pumped up and down with anxious pants. Her tongue resembled a dried out fleshy map resting at the bottom of her jaw. The lines of her vocal had run drier than a ravine in Arizona in the summer, and her heart constantly dented the lining of her ribcage. "Wh-what do you mean?" She managed to ask after a moment. George smiled as he watched her lips move with the question. George drew in a deep inhale through the hairs of his nares, then he lowered himself before the woman. He stared deeply into her olive globes and loved the panic which filled her pupils. "What's your name?" George posed. The woman blinked fast and multiple times. "Vi-Violet." She stuttered. "Mmh." George hummed, before he lifted a cold hand to pet Violet's hairline. His fingers brushed over her forehead, down the line of her nose, and over her lips. His index finger pressed and pulled her bottom lip downwards, causin
Narrator-Miranda stared into Asher's dark orbs, and she shyly pulled her bottom lip into her mouth before she got an idea."I'll fix it," she began to speak while she kept her gaze steady on his eyes, "if you let Asher back in control."Asher frowned, his dark pupils becoming angry, but Miranda didn't falter in her resolution. She had kept Asher's explanation from this morning in her mind. Whenever tensions were high, Asher's wolf would take control, but if she could always get Asher back even when he was emotional, maybe this would be easier for them both.Asher growled in Miranda's face, and she blinked quickly, but tried to appear calm. Asher's eyebrows relaxed just slightly when he realized that Miranda wouldn't budge in her demand, then finally his vision began to clear.Miranda watched in silence as Asher's pupils lightened from black to brown, until they were clear, and their golden rims were back to their original color.Asher looked at Miranda and he sighed and gulped softly.
Miranda- I turned my head towards the door when I heard a key insert into the lock, and it clicked out of place. I watched the handle turn, while I was still on my back with my hands folded on my stomach. Anise had disappeared from sight, and I gulped while waiting for whoever was on the other side of the door. When the door was pushed open, I noticed it was Joshua, and I couldn't help the relieved sigh that pushed past my nostrils at the sight of him. He smiled at my reaction, and I noticed he had a tray in his hands. "I can't tell if you're relieved to see me or the food." He said with a friendly smile. I smiled too. "Let's just say both." I admitted. I waited for him to place the tray down, then he walked back to me and lent me a hand. I grabbed his palm and as soon as my fingers closed around his hand, he hoisted me off the floor so swiftly, my face, neck and chest smacked into his torso. "Woah there." He said, and he embraced my waist to help me get steady. I blushed and
Narrator- Miranda was startled awake by the sound of a slamming door. She released a gasp and her eyelids snapped open. Her neck was turned to the left, as she laid on her back. Miranda blinked, her chest instantly panting from the unexpected awakening. She noticed the pillowcases and her brain immediately registered his scent through her nostrils. The hairs of her skin quickly erected, and Miranda painfully swallowed a ball of saliva down her dry throat. Asher was in the room. Miranda could tell. Something about the way her stomach knotted, and her lungs only breathed faster and faster told her so. He was staring too. The goosebumps on her panting chest told her as much. Miranda gulped again and she drew in a breath before mustering up the courage to turn her neck in the direction of the door, and lo and behold, Asher stood there, shirtless, with only a pair of sweatpants hanging around his hips. His chest and hair were dampened with sweat, and the image only made Miranda feel mor
