SAVANNAH

Sophia storms out of the room, and I watch her with an unflinching gaze as she reaches the door. The intensity of her hatred was unmistakable.

I turn back to find Evans still in shock, and he clears his throat. “Are you serious? You're pregnant?”

I nod, my palm sweating as I nervously rub it against my jeans. “Yes, I am. I found out before I returned.”

A wide smile spreads across his face, and he beams at me. “Congratulations! That means I'm going to be an uncle?” I nod, smiling back at him. He walks around the table, pulling me into a bear hug. “I'm so happy for you.”

“Thank you,” I say as he kisses the top of my head and returns to his seat. “Does Dominic know?”

I nod. “He does. I told him after we had a conversation and resolved our issues.”

His expression turns serious. “That isn't the reason you forgive him, right? Because of the child.” I shake my head immediately, and he looks at me skeptically. “Are you sure?”

“Absolutely. The baby doesn't influence my decision. There

DOMINIC.I scatter the petals on the ground, from the door to the dining table, and I smile as I look at my handiwork.Small candles are spread across the living room with red petals. With Savannah out of the house, I thought it'd be best to have a nice dinner, especially after the moment we shared last night.I rush upstairs and change into more decent pants and a shirt, just white socks. I walk back down to the table.I check my time, and it's 7:45, and I know she will soon be home. I set down the food and walk towards the fresh flowers I bought, placing them in the chair I set for her.I look around and smile to myself. I can't wait to see her reaction when she gets down. I sit at the table to wait for my wife.Time goes by, and she isn't home yet. I check my time, and it's 8:25, and I frown. She should've been home by now. I pull out my phone and call her, and it rings for the longest, but there's no answer.I frown. Is she in traffic? I redial her number and no answer. Maybe I sho

SAVANNAH.The car door slams shut, and Aisha laughs maniacally, her eyes wide as she looks at me. “I guess they're here,” she says with a wide grin. “Now, let the show begin.”I ball my hands into a fist as I run toward her, and we both tumble to the ground as she isn't expecting me to do so. I grab her by the hair. “Who the hell are they?”She glares at me. “You think you can make me say who they are when they will enter any minute now?” I push her as I try to walk toward the door. “Don't waste your time; the door is locked from the outside. You're stuck in here with me.”I whirl around to find her watching me, her eyes glinting in amusement. “How could you do this?”She shrugs. “I didn't do anything. I found a way to get my son, and it doesn't matter who was there with him; you were just a means to an end, and I have no dealing with you.”I grit my teeth and hear footsteps thumping on the front porch; her excitement is palpable as she watches me. I refuse to give her the satisfaction

SAVANNAH.I whimper as she pushes me to the floor and walks back to where she was standing. “Your father thinks I'm a fool. I loved him even when I knew he didn't give two fucks about me. I was willing to lose everything to prove my love to him. You know what he did? He used me,” she says, her voice pained. “He used me as a vessel to protect your mother. He pretended to love me, and I was stupid to believe him.” I groan as the pain in my belly increases, and I pray nothing happens to my child. “Do you want to know the truth about your mother?”I remain silent, focusing on the pain in my stomach. My silence worsens her disposition because she walks over and kicks me back. “You answer me when I speak to you!” Like Sophia, she's dressed in all black with boots on. “You are alive right now only because I say so. Answer me accordingly!”I raise my head and glare at her. “You will pay for this,” I say, despite my pain. “You won't go free, Becca.” I look over at Sophia, whose hands are balled

DOMINICI feel like I'm losing my mind. It's been almost eight hours since Savannah was taken, and I still have no idea where she is.I've been doing everything I can, but nothing seems to be working. The van that took them was found miles away with no surveillance cameras, so there was no way to tell which direction they went.“Calm down, Dominic, we're going to find her,” Chris says, and I spin around to face him. “We have the best people on this.”“The best? How can they be the best if we still can't locate my woman and child?!” I snap, running my hands through my hair. “I don't understand why someone would do this, why they would kidnap her.”Janelle is clinging to Chris, her eyes red from crying. “Could it be the same person who hit her car?”I look at her, and I see her chewing on her lip, her body trembling slightly. “It could be,” Chris says as he rubs her back. “She will be found, and she will be okay.” She looks up at him, and he kisses her forehead. The door swings open, and

SAVANNAHShe smirks but then yells, “Come on in, boys.” My eyes widen as she rises slowly. “I've had enough of you.” The door swings open, and the men walk in, their eyes roaming over me lustfully. “It's about time I show you what I always imagined would happen to you.”My hands tighten around the pipe. I'd rather die than let another man touch me. I widen my stance as I look at her. Sophia stirs as her eyes open, and she blinks before her mom helps her up.I hear footsteps behind me. I turn to find Evans and Aisha walking before they stand behind me. My eyes widen as Aisha looks at me and rolls her eyes before turning to Becca and her goons. “I'm sorry, Becca, plans changed,” Aisha says as she looks at her. “My son wants me to protect her, or everything will be in vain, and after all, he's the reason I'm here.”Becca glares at her as she looks at me. “I should've had you killed when I had the chance to,” she spits out. “It doesn't matter because none of you are leaving here alive.”Ev

SEBASTIAN KNIGHT.I watch Savannah wheeled into the ambulance, feeling this pain I've never felt before. I've failed her.Elizabeth struggles against the police as they pull her away from Becca. I sigh as Mr. Marshall looks at me and nods, and we walk towards her. “We can handle her,” Mr. Marshall says to the policeman, who looks at him.“Are you sure?” he asks, looking at Elizabeth, who screams that she'll kill Becca. “We can take her out of here just to be certain.”“It's fine,” I say as I motion for him to leave her. “We can take care of her.” He nods and leaves her, hurrying away like she's on fire. She whirls around to look at us. “Where's Savannah?” She asks just as they put Becca and Sophia into the car and drive away. “Where is my son? Where are my children?”I look at her, her chest heaving as she cries. “They were taken to the hospital,” Mr. Marshall says. “You should follow them.”She looks at me briefly before she nods and walks past me. DOMINICThe doctor looks at me solemnly, his voice measured as he delivers the news. “Are you the husband?” I nod as he looks at the equally concerned faces behind me. “Your wife is fine; we were able to stop the bleeding and get the work done quickly.”I swallow hard and nod at him. “Thank you. And my child? What about the baby?” I ask, my hands clenched into fists, my heart racing. “Please tell me they're okay.”“Your child is fine as well,” he says, looking at me. “But you have to understand, she suffered blows and punches to her stomach, and that's too much for a newly forming pregnancy. You're lucky we arrived on time, or it would have been too late.”Relief washes over me. “So the baby is okay?” I ask, nodding to myself. “And the mother?”“They're both stable for now, but your wife and baby have been through a lot. We're doing everything possible to ensure their recovery. Your wife is resting, but she's still under close observation. The baby's heartbeat is weak, and we will do e

My family is okay.I kiss her forehead as I stand up and walk outside; I should check on Evans before she wakes up.I step outside to find Dad sitting in the waiting room. “Dad,” I say, and he stands up when he sees me. “Why are you over here?”“I didn't want to disturb you and her,” he says as he hugs me. “Is she okay?”I nod as I wrap my arms around him. I didn't realize how much I needed this hug until I received it. “Yes, she is.” He nods, and from the look on his face, I know what else he wants to ask for. “So is the baby.” His tense posture relaxes, and he exhales sharply as he nods.I push my hands into my jeans as I look at him. “Good, I'm glad she's okay,” he says as he looks around. “I'm happy to know that.”“I wanted us to talk,” I say to him. “There are some things we need to discuss, as it is important.”

SAVANNAH“Come back here!” I yell as I chase after my three-year-old son, who seems to be in the mood for his mischief. “Zion! Get back here!”He runs up the stairs and behind his father. “C’mon baby, let me him go,” my husband says as he looks at me. “I'm sure he didn't mean to.”I glare at him. “Uh-huh, I'm sure he didn't mean to take the cookies I made personally for Thanksgiving.”Dominic's eyes widen as he turns to his son, who throws him a toothy grin. “See?” he says as he looks at his son. “He didn't mean it.” I glare at him; he is a sucker for Zion.I roll my eyes as I stretch out my arms to him. “Give me my daughter,” I say as I smirk at him. “Go downstairs and care for everything else since you want to defend your son. Go ahead and take on the responsibility of cleaning the mess he made.”He pouts. “But I am holding our baby,” he says as he kisses our princess. “C’mon.”I glare at him. “Give her to me. Excited squeals and gasps surround me as I look at our family. “I have to go back in!” I say, pulling the door close leaving the noise outside. My wife needs me.Re-entering, I see our baby boy lying on her chest as they clean her up. She looks up, eyes watering. “Our baby,” she says weakly, and I nod vehemently as I kneel before her bed, “He’s so beautiful,” she says as she looks down at him. I nod as tears trail down my cheeks. “Thank you,” I say, rubbing her head. “Thank you.”“Excuse me, sir, please wait outside.” the nurse asks. I nod. “We’ll call you back in a few minutes.”I place a gentle kiss on her forehead. “I'll be right outside.” Leaning down, I kiss the top of my son’s head and walk outside.I find myself turning and looking at the nurse, picking up the baby and going to clean him, I'm sure. DOMINICThe atmosphere is charged with anticipation as I tap my feet, awaiting her. The space around me echoes the silent suspense. “Should we wait some more?” a voice asks, and I nod tightly, reassuring more myself than the speaker, “She’ll come. She’ll be here soon.”As I contemplate checking my phone, the door swings open, and my pulse goes haywire. She's here. She's adorned in a flowing white dress, eyes glistening as she approaches. I smile softly, and she reciprocates, causing my heart to pound. As she reaches me, she mouths, “I'm sorry.” I shake my head, pulling her into me. “I had cramps.”My concern shows with a frown. “Are you okay? Is it severe?” I hold her at arm’s length. “Is it okay?”She smiles brightly. “Yeah, I'm fine.” She exhales. “Let's do this.”I smile, kissing her forehead before taking my stance beside her. Elizabeth Miller.I'm struggling with my thousands of emotions, a turbulent whirlwind. I've always prided myself on maintaining my resolve to stay clear of Sebastian Knights, and I've succeeded. They say there's a thin line between love and hate, and I've found that true. To release the love I once had for him, I had to blur that line and harbor a deep resentment for him—the man who took everything from me.I shake my head, recalling our conversation the day Savannah shared the news of her pregnancy and the way he looked at me when I discovered he had given me his kidney. He saved my life, and why would he do such a thing? I cling to the notion that he did it for her, not me. Although I believe that, a small part of me questions: What if it was more than just for Savannah? What if he did it for me?I scoff at my thoughts as I step outside, my heart racing as I search for him. Sebastian Knights has always had a knack for breaking down every wall I built, and the hatred I clung to was a

My hands tighten around Savannah, and I pull her closer to me. “There will be no bond for Becca Knights and the rest of the defendants.” I see Evans' jaw clench tight.Aisha turns to us and smiles tightly. I scowl at her, knowing that she might have helped to save Savannah, but she was the reason she was taken in the first place.“Becca Knights is sentenced to a hundred years with no parole and heavy duties.” Becca's eyes widen, and she gasps as she looks at him before her eyes turn to us. I subconsciously pull Savannah closer to me. “Sophia Knights is sentenced to fifteen years in prison with parole.” I see Sophia bow her he

I sigh, feeling a sharp headache, knowing I could've prevented everything.I park the car and rest my head on the steering wheel, the weight of it all pressing on my chest. I could have stopped this. I run my hand down my face and look outside. To my surprise, I'm at the graveyard. I haven't been here in years, but I don't understand why I stayed away. With nothing else to do, I push the car door open and step out. It's still the same as I remember it—quiet and calm. I look around at the graves, and my heart becomes heavy, realizing that these are the final resting places for people with dreams and accomplishments cut short by death. Why do people have to die? Wouldn't it be better if there were somewhere everyone goes after growing old instead of just disappearing?Pushing those thoughts aside, I walk throu
