Savannah's mother, Elizabeth, gently rubs her hands with tears in her eyes while I sit opposite her.

I've yet to receive a call from my investigator, and I'm dying to know what happened. I hear a wheel rolling, and the door swings open to see a nurse wheeling Mr. Knights in. “What happened to my daughter?”

Miss Miller scowls at him. “What are you doing? You should be resting.”

He glares at her. “Why is my daughter in the hospital?” She rolls her eyes and settles with rubbing the hair from Savannah’s face.

He turns to me. “What happened to her?”

I sigh. “I don't know. I was driving to the hospital to bring her clothes and food when a car sped past me. I thought it was someone in a rush, but according to the driver, the person purposely hit their car and drove off.”

He clenches his fists. “You think it was intentional?”

I nod. “That's my belief, and my investigators are currently doing their work. We will receive information soon.”

He wheels closer to her and brushes her hair fro

SAVANNAHThe room is filled with a tense silence as Mom glares at Dad. Dominic walks over to me and gently rubs my hands. “Are you okay?” he asks softly.I nod and lower my head. I never wanted him to find out about me like this.“Do you see what you have caused?!” Mom snaps at Dad. “You bring trouble to my daughter! Your wife couldn't wait; she had to barge in here!” Her body shakes with anger. “I should have known she can never change, and if I ever find out, Sebastian,” she warns dangerously, “if I ever find out that your wife and daughter had anything to do with my child's accident, you won't like me!”Dad raises his head and glares at her. “You think I wanted this to happen?!”“If you don't want it to happen, leave!” she screams. “Leave my child alone.” I look up to find Dominic staring at my parents with wide eyes. This is embarrassing.I pinch my nose and groan in frustration. “That's enough, Mom,” I say, pointing. “You don't need to blame Dad for what Becca did.”She looks at m

SAVANNAHAs I lay there in the hospital bed, the memories of the accident continue to flash through my mind. It was a terrifying experience, and the thought that someone might have intentionally targeted me sends shivers down my spine.I'm relieved to hear from the doctor that I seem physically okay, aside from the concussion and minor injuries. However, the emotional trauma of the incident lingers. I'm getting discharged today, and Dominic specifically told the doctor not to release me unless he's here, which leaves me wondering if he feels something more for me.Closing my eyes, I try to push away the fear and anxiety that have settled in my chest. I focus on the sounds of the hospital, the quiet hum of machinery, and the distant voices of nurses and patients. It's a reassuring backdrop that I'm alive and nothing's wrong with me.I know I'll need time to process what happened, and I can't help but wonder who would want to harm me. The mystery of it all weighs heavily on my mind as I

SAVANNAHThe sudden news about the driver's death sends a chill down my spine, and I exchange a worried glance with Chris. It's a shocking turn of events, and I can't help but feel a mix of confusion and fear.“What?” Chris exclaims, his face mirroring the shock I'm feeling. “How the heck did that happen?”Dominic's jaw clenches, and he sighs heavily. “The investigator didn't have all the details, but it seems like it was a hit; he was shot, and the driver didn't make it.”My mind races, trying to make sense of it all. “So, you're saying the person was killed after hitting me?” I ask, my voice trembling.Dominic nods grimly. “It appears that way.”I release a shaky breath. “That means the person who paid him doesn't want to be found. It could only mean they knew we were looking into the driver,” Chris says, running his hands through his hair. His words cause unease, and I slump on the bed, my mind racing with the possibility that I am a potential target. The question remains: Who would

DOMINICI'm driving Savannah home, and her head rests on the wheel with her eyes closed. I reach over to the console and hold her hands in mine. Her eyes flash to me, and she sends me a gentle smile. Her father's words keep playing, but I push them aside. Telling her how I feel is not an option.“What are you thinking about?” I look up to see her looking at me, her eyes blinking.“Just work,” I lie through my teeth. “And your health,” that's partially true. She nods, “I'm fine now.” She says as she rests her hands on my thigh. I look down, and she doesn’t even look like she knows that’s what she’s doing.“I know. Have you decided on the offer to take over the contract?” I ask, thinking it is another way I can have my eyes on her at all times. She nods, “I have.”“What did you decide?” I ask casually as if I'm not dying on the inside to know.“I'm going to accept.” Yes. I nod, trying to play it off, but I'm excited she chose this. It means I can monitor her safely when she's at the offi

SAVANNAHI walk through the hotel and offer a small smile to the staff. Nobody stopped me or asked questions; they knew I was his daughter.I entered the elevator and took a deep breath. Here's to hoping that nobody disturbs us today. I press the P button and wring my hands together nervously. The elevator opens, and my dad's men nod at me as I stride past them. As I step into the penthouse, I'm greeted by a luxurious and spacious living area. Large windows offer breathtaking views of the city skyline, and the entire space is tastefully decorated with modern and elegant furnishings. It's entirely different from the rest of the hotel, exuding luxury and sophistication.I guess this is what having money feels like.Dad is sitting on a plush couch, his laptop in front of him, working on something. He looks up as I enter, a warm smile on his face.“Savannah,” he says, his voice filled with genuine happiness. “I didn't know you were coming.” I can't help but feel a rush of emotions at the s

MR SEBASTIANS KNIGHTSMy confession hangs heavy in the air as I watch the emotions play across Savannah's face. She listens intently to my words, her eyes filled with shock, sadness, and relief.“I did a DNA test,” she gasps. “But not while she was pregnant. Your mother wouldn't allow me to be near her, so I waited until she gave birth.” I can see the weight of my actions hitting her, and I continue, feeling a need to explain myself. “I know it wasn't the right thing to do, but I was desperate; I needed to know if you were mine, and when the DNA result came back positive, I found light in my dark life. I found you.”Her tears continue to flow, but she smiles through them. “Then why did you leave me?”I gently cup her face in her hands, my thumbs wiping away her tears. “I never wanted to. I wanted to fight for you, but your grandfather threatened me; he told me he’d give you to an orphanage, and I'd never find you if I decided to stick around.”Her voice trembles as she asks, “Did Mom k

Where are you going?”His jaw tightens as he tries to move left, but I block him again, and the same with the right. “Move,” he grits out. “Go back inside.”I shake my head. “No! What do you mean you're not my brother?”“What do you think it means, huh?” he takes a step closer to me. “It means I'm not your brother. It means you don't have any reason to stand up here and pretend you care for me when you don't.”“How can that be?” I ask, confused. “How can you not be my brother?”He laughs emotionlessly. “What do you think I mean, Savannah? How do you think I can't be your brother, huh?”“I just want to know, Evans,” I say softly. “You are my brother.” What is this talk about him not being my brother? He clenches his fis

SAVANNAH“Come back here!” I yell as I chase after my three-year-old son, who seems to be in the mood for his mischief. “Zion! Get back here!”He runs up the stairs and behind his father. “C’mon baby, let me him go,” my husband says as he looks at me. “I'm sure he didn't mean to.”I glare at him. “Uh-huh, I'm sure he didn't mean to take the cookies I made personally for Thanksgiving.”Dominic's eyes widen as he turns to his son, who throws him a toothy grin. “See?” he says as he looks at his son. “He didn't mean it.” I glare at him; he is a sucker for Zion.I roll my eyes as I stretch out my arms to him. “Give me my daughter,” I say as I smirk at him. “Go downstairs and care for everything else since you want to defend your son. Go ahead and take on the responsibility of cleaning the mess he made.”He pouts. “But I am holding our baby,” he says as he kisses our princess. “C’mon.”I glare at him. “Give her to me. Excited squeals and gasps surround me as I look at our family. “I have to go back in!” I say, pulling the door close leaving the noise outside. My wife needs me.Re-entering, I see our baby boy lying on her chest as they clean her up. She looks up, eyes watering. “Our baby,” she says weakly, and I nod vehemently as I kneel before her bed, “He’s so beautiful,” she says as she looks down at him. I nod as tears trail down my cheeks. “Thank you,” I say, rubbing her head. “Thank you.”“Excuse me, sir, please wait outside.” the nurse asks. I nod. “We’ll call you back in a few minutes.”I place a gentle kiss on her forehead. “I'll be right outside.” Leaning down, I kiss the top of my son’s head and walk outside.I find myself turning and looking at the nurse, picking up the baby and going to clean him, I'm sure. DOMINICThe atmosphere is charged with anticipation as I tap my feet, awaiting her. The space around me echoes the silent suspense. “Should we wait some more?” a voice asks, and I nod tightly, reassuring more myself than the speaker, “She’ll come. She’ll be here soon.”As I contemplate checking my phone, the door swings open, and my pulse goes haywire. She's here. She's adorned in a flowing white dress, eyes glistening as she approaches. I smile softly, and she reciprocates, causing my heart to pound. As she reaches me, she mouths, “I'm sorry.” I shake my head, pulling her into me. “I had cramps.”My concern shows with a frown. “Are you okay? Is it severe?” I hold her at arm’s length. “Is it okay?”She smiles brightly. “Yeah, I'm fine.” She exhales. “Let's do this.”I smile, kissing her forehead before taking my stance beside her. Elizabeth Miller.I'm struggling with my thousands of emotions, a turbulent whirlwind. I've always prided myself on maintaining my resolve to stay clear of Sebastian Knights, and I've succeeded. They say there's a thin line between love and hate, and I've found that true. To release the love I once had for him, I had to blur that line and harbor a deep resentment for him—the man who took everything from me.I shake my head, recalling our conversation the day Savannah shared the news of her pregnancy and the way he looked at me when I discovered he had given me his kidney. He saved my life, and why would he do such a thing? I cling to the notion that he did it for her, not me. Although I believe that, a small part of me questions: What if it was more than just for Savannah? What if he did it for me?I scoff at my thoughts as I step outside, my heart racing as I search for him. Sebastian Knights has always had a knack for breaking down every wall I built, and the hatred I clung to was a

My hands tighten around Savannah, and I pull her closer to me. “There will be no bond for Becca Knights and the rest of the defendants.” I see Evans' jaw clench tight.Aisha turns to us and smiles tightly. I scowl at her, knowing that she might have helped to save Savannah, but she was the reason she was taken in the first place.“Becca Knights is sentenced to a hundred years with no parole and heavy duties.” Becca's eyes widen, and she gasps as she looks at him before her eyes turn to us. I subconsciously pull Savannah closer to me. “Sophia Knights is sentenced to fifteen years in prison with parole.” I see Sophia bow her he

I sigh, feeling a sharp headache, knowing I could've prevented everything.I park the car and rest my head on the steering wheel, the weight of it all pressing on my chest. I could have stopped this. I run my hand down my face and look outside. To my surprise, I'm at the graveyard. I haven't been here in years, but I don't understand why I stayed away. With nothing else to do, I push the car door open and step out. It's still the same as I remember it—quiet and calm. I look around at the graves, and my heart becomes heavy, realizing that these are the final resting places for people with dreams and accomplishments cut short by death. Why do people have to die? Wouldn't it be better if there were somewhere everyone goes after growing old instead of just disappearing?Pushing those thoughts aside, I walk throu
