Mitch
After breakfast I went upstairs and took a quick shower. I put on my black Armani suit with a white dress shirt leaving the top two buttons open. I walked down to my office to grab some paperwork, went out the front door and got into my Rolls-Royce. I drove around to the back of the compound to my private airstrip where Jax and eight of my security guys were already waiting. I got out of the car and walked up the stairs of the plane. We each took a seat and Jax told the pilot to take off. I was flying to Newark to have a meeting with a Russian enforcer named Anatoly. He approached me several months ago on behalf of his boss Ivankov. I've heard of this boss before; he and his son Viktor get off on causing other people pain. Apparently, Ivankov had the idea that we could work together and that he could use my ships to transport certain other things. While I may transport weapons and drugs, I was not interested in transporting people. That was never something I would allow.
I rejected his request, and he took it upon himself to start sinking my ships. I lost two ships that were in route to London, all cargo and men lost to the ocean. I also lost one ship that was in route to Mexico. This bastard had become a major pain in my ass, so I decided it was time to send a message. I set up a meeting with Anatoly, told him I was ready to negotiate, but the motherfucker would not be leaving the office alive. I planned to have Jax kill him the moment he walked in the door and I would be sending his head back to Russia. I was tired of this shit.
When we finally landed in Newark, there was a convoy already waiting to take me to the office. Jax and I got into the Bentley while the rest of the men split up into four Conquest Knight XVs. We drove over to the office and pulled into the underground garage. I got out and used the private elevator that leads directly to my office. Stepping out of the elevator, I walked over to the large windows in my corner office and looked out over the city. Jax reminded each of the men where they needed to be once Anatoly walked in the office.
They were going to light his ass up. I would finally be rid of this fucking guy and show Ivankov that I am not one to be messed with. I took a seat at my desk looking over some paperwork and the itinerary for Ophelia. She had been asking me if she could go to Europe after her 21st birthday. She wanted to go with one of the charity organizations that does work in the poorer countries. After many weeks of consideration, Jax, Damian and I had come up with a plan to ensure her safety. I would be surprising her at the party with the itinerary for her trip. She would be leaving three weeks from Saturday and would be gone for almost six months.
I'm not sure what I was thinking in agreeing to this, but it was something she wanted to do, so I made sure to make it happen. This is another reason why I needed to squash this conflict with the fucking Russians. I do not want them to get wind of her being in Europe and try to kill her or kidnap her and use her against me.
The time came that Anatoly was supposed to be arriving. You could feel the tension growing in the room as my men stood and waited for him to walk through the door.
The door never opened. I glanced at my watch and realized he was thirty minutes late.
"Where the fuck is this guy?" I growled at Jax.
"I don't know," he said, before calling down to the front desk to see if Anatoly had arrived.
No one had seen him. The longer I sat there the angrier I became. This meeting had been set for weeks now. After another hour of waiting, I decided I was not going to wait any longer. I had other shit to do and this fucker has pissed me off. He'd be lucky if I didn't shoot him myself if he walked through that door right now.
"Call down to the drivers and have them ready," I commanded Jax. "I am not sitting around and waiting any longer. Fuck him and his fucking boss."
We got in the elevator, went back down to the garage, and got in the vehicles. I decided to call my second in command, Tony, to let him know what was going on. He is in Los Angeles running things on the west coast while I handle things on the east coast; we split the center, each taking certain cities, but all final decisions come through me. My organization was huge, and we had our hands in a little bit of everything. I have crews spread all over the country from LA, to Miami, and multiple crews in New York. I had hoped that one day Liam would become head of the family, but I don't think he's ready for that yet. Something doesn’t set well with me when it comes to letting him run the family. So instead, I gave him a few of the night clubs. I’ll keep him busy until I decide to retire and promote him.
We crossed the bridge into New York City and went to Jonol, one of the night clubs I gave Liam on the Upper East Side. He decided to recently make some renovations, which really brought it up to date.
I walked through the front door and went upstairs to Liam’s office, "Dad!" he said surprised as he walked over and shook my hand, "I thought you had a meeting at your office?"
"I did but the fucker never showed up."
"Are you serious? What the fuck?"
"Yep. Just fucking ghosted the whole meeting."
"That's some bullshit. What are you going to do?"
"I haven't decided yet, but I did not come here to talk about that. I came here to see how the renovations are going and to take you out to dinner before I head back upstate."
"That sounds great, I'll grab my coat. Where do you want to go?"
"Let's go over to Masto's Steakhouse." I suggested.
“Great. I’ll grab my coat.”
We walked out of the office and downstairs back to the front of the club. We got in the car and headed over to Masto's.
When we got to Masto's, we went inside, and the hostess took us right over to our table. I like to keep standing reservations at certain restaurants in case I'm in town and want to grab something to eat. We took our seats and ordered a bottle of whiskey.
"Don't forget O's birthday is this weekend, she really wants to see you. I know you’ve been busy, but we would like for you to come."
"Yeah, I know. I'm planning to come up Friday night and stay a couple of days. I want to spend some time with everyone," he murmured.
We each ordered a porterhouse steak and talked about everything going on. After we finished eating, it was time for me to go back across to Newark to the shipping ports. The driver dropped Liam off at the club and we made our way across the bridge before finally coming to the ports. I made it in time to meet the ship and check out the shipment of guns that had come in. They were going to be loaded onto another ship and taken down to Mexico. My best friend, Javier runs a massive cartel down there, so I try to keep him stocked with everything he needs.
As I stood there talking to the captain of the ship, I noticed that Jax got a phone call and started pacing. He had an angry look on his face. I finished up my conversation with the captain and walked over to Jax.
"What is going on?"
"I got a call from Ben. Ophelia called him. He said when he answered the phone, he heard a loud noise, but Ophelia never said anything on the other end. He stayed on the phone and could hear Damian calling for her to wake up, he heard a struggle and Ophelia screaming."
I looked at him in disbelief, not wanting to accept what he had told me. It’s been a long time since anyone came after my family, this cannot be happening.
"Mitch, you okay?" he questioned.
I snapped out of my daze and refocused my attention, "Please tell me you're joking." I snapped.
"I'm afraid not. Ben sent a group of guys to the last location the GPS sent out and they found her truck flipped over and torched."
My eyes widened when he told me how they found her truck, trying to keep my composure, "Was she in the truck?"
"No. Neither she nor Damian were in the truck. We're not sure where they are. Both of their phones were found inside the truck and Damian's gun was found on the side of the road in the grass."
"What the fuck? Where the hell are they?"
Jax shook his head, "We don't know yet."
"Call the pilot and tell him I am on my way and to have the plane ready when I get there. Also call Ben and tell him he better have more fucking answers when I get back to the compound.”
"I’ll handle it." Jax responded.
I got back in the car and told the driver to get me to the airstrip fast. Jax made calls to the pilot and called Ben who had already sent out his drones to start searching the area. When we got to the air strip, I walked on the plane and told the pilot to get me home as fast as possible. Jax and the other men took a seat, each calling people at the compound trying to get answers. No one had any answers for me.
I sat there staring out the window, so many scenarios were running through my head. I was trying to keep my composure but the more I thought about it the angrier I became. Suddenly, my phone buzzed. I looked over and saw it was a text from the Russian. What did this fucker want? Too late to tell me he's not coming. I opened my phone and saw that it was a video. I hit play and saw Ophelia tied to a chair bloodied and bruised. I turned the volume up and set the phone on the table in front of me. The men walked over to see what it was.
I put my elbows on the table bringing my hands together and resting my forehead on my hands. I closed my eyes as I heard Ophelia crying, my body cringed every time I heard a slap across her face. I heard her pleading for them not to hurt Damian. I heard her start to read the ransom note. My heart was pounding, my breathing got heavy. This was the reason Anatoly never showed up.
Ophelia said "dad" in the video and I fucking lost it. I covered my face with my hands and hollered out in rage. The amount of anger I had in that moment was unlike anything I had felt in a long time. I hadn’t had this much anger since my brother was killed. I knew the dark road this rage leads me down. Using every ounce of will power I knew I couldn’t allow it to surface. Jax saw the battle I was fighting and put his hand on my shoulder.
“We’ll find her. I swear to God, we will find her.”
I took a deep breath, got up from the seat and walked to the bathroom. Leaning over the sink counter, I stared at myself in the mirror and remembered the promise I made to Grace. I couldn’t allow the demons in my head to win this battle. Composure was my only option.
I heard Jax call Ben to inform him that we had received a ransom and that he would be sending it to him. Maybe he could start trying to figure out where they were being kept. I walked out the bathroom, picked up the plane phone and called the pilot for our ETA. We still had an hour before we were on the ground at the compound. There was literally nothing I could do. I was stuck in a fucking plane for another hour, while my daughter was in the hands of the Russians. After Jax sent the video to Ben, my phone rang and it was Noah, "Son" I answered quietly. I'm guessing Ben has shown Noah and Oliver the video.
"DAD...WHAT THE FUCK!? HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? I THOUGHT YOU WERE HANDLING THIS MOTHERFUCKER. WHAT THE FUCK HAPPEN AT THE MEETING?"
"He never fucking showed up."
I could almost feel Noah's rage through the phone. The sound of things being thrown echoed through. Oliver was on a rampage and there was nothing anyone could do to stop him. I took a deep breath and thought of the right words to say. Not only was I angry about my daughter being kidnapped, but now my sons were outraged knowing what had happened to their sister. We did everything we could to protect her, she is everything to us. Now she was gone, and none of us had a clue where she had been taken. I had literally built an army around her, but no matter what we did to keep her safe, it wasn't enough.
Mitch It was almost midnight when we made our descent behind the house. I could see the lights on around the garage. When the plane landed, I walked down the stairs then Jax and I got in the car that was waiting. The driver pulled around and stopped at the garage, where I saw several police vehicles sitting out front. Jax and I got out of the car and stood there for a moment. I could see the wreckage that once was Ophelia's truck already sitting inside. "Mitch. I am so sorry about what happened. I know you want to handle this on your own, but some of my deputies would like to help. Figured you may need some extra manpower,"Chief Miller said as he shook my hand. "Chief, I have an army. I have military grade drones and more weapons than your department has ever seen. Thank you, but I do
Ophelia Observing my surroundings, I saw a lot more men standing in the room with guns in their hands. I looked over and stared at Damian there on his knees. I could see the anger building in his eyes as Anatoly walked up to me and began to speak. "This can go easily for you andyour man; all you have to do is answer my questions. Understand?" I nodded, "I understand." "Tell me what you know.” he commanded. "I don't know anything." I said softly. “Don’t lie to me.” He hissed. “I’m not lying. I don’t know anything about his business.” He growled, before back handing me across the face. "I'll ask you again," he started to speak again before Damian interrupted him. "DON'T FUCKING TOUCH HER!" Damian yelled, through clenched teeth and eyes fixed on Anatoly. Anatoly looked over at him and gave a little smirk then chuckled. "And what do you think you are
Ophelia It's been four days since we were taken, each day is worse than the day before. I can feel the swelling in my face and eyes. There are marks all over my body, my throat hurts badly I can hardly speak. My arms and legs are covered in bruises. There is dried blood over most of my body and between my legs. I haven't had a shower since I was taken and the smell of myself makes me want to vomit. They bring me one meal a day and one bottle of water, usually at night. It looks like slop with a piece of bread, it's disgusting but it's better than nothing. I have not heard Damian since the gunshot. I am guessing that he is dead, and I am all alone in here. My body is exhausted and weak as I have not hardly slept since I've been here. As I sit here looking up toward the window, it suddenly hit me, today is my 21st birthday. WOW, hell of a way to spend my birthday. I s
Mitch After Ben and James left, I walked back to the house and to the kitchen. Henry was preparing dinner, but my appetite was nonexistent at the moment. I grabbed a bottle of water from the refrigerator and patted Henry on the back as I passed by him. I went upstairs to my room and walked out onto the balcony. Lifting my head up to the sky, I whispered, "I am so sorry my love. I could not keep our baby safe. Please forgive me.” At that moment, as much as I hated to think about it, I was almost glad Grace wasn't here. She would be so disappointed in me. She was the love of my life, my light in the darkness, the one good thing in this horrible life. She never tried to take me from this life but made me promise that I would always keep our children safe. She never judged me for the things I did. To this day I have no idea why someone like her ever loved someone like me. I had done so many bad
Mitch When we got to the hospital, there were nurses already waiting for us. We laid Ophelia down on the bed and they took her away. Jax walked in with Damian and a nurse put him in an exam room also. I still could not believe we found them both alive. I tried to follow them, but another nurse placed her hand on my chest to stop me. She asked me to wait in the waiting room. I didn't want to wait, but she told me that I needed to let them examine Ophelia and that it would be better if I waited. Jax sent the rest of the men back to the compound. I had never been so proud of my guys; we cleared that fucking paper mill like it was nothing. A few of the guys had some flesh wounds, but nothing life threatening. I was proud of the team Jax, Noah and Oliver had trained. Noah, Oliver, Liam, James, Jax and I all went into the waiting room and took a seat. We were all still pretty jacked up from the figh
Ophelia Iopened my eyes, it was sunrise. I was standing in a beautiful field of lavender. I looked down and sawthat I was wearing a long white dress. There were no bruises, I felt no pain, and the blood that once covered my body was gone. I closed my eyes and dropped my arms to my side and walked through the field allowing my fingers to gently graze the flowers. I opened my eyes and saw that there was a woman standing in front of me. She was wearing a long white gown as well. Her back was facing me, and I had no idea who she was until she turned around to face me. "Mom," I cried out, as I ran over to her and wrapped my arms around her. "My beautiful baby girl." She said, wrapping her arms around me. Her warm embrace made me feel so much peace. I never wanted to let go. I missed my mom so much. I could not believe that she was here with me.
Damian "Damian." I heard a voice and felt someone put their hand on my shoulder. I woke up and swung my hand. Mitch grabbed my hand before it hit him, "Watch that hand boy." I took a deep breath relieved to find that it was him, "Sorry Sir." I looked down and saw Ophelia was still sleeping. I moved my arms slowly trying to not wake her and got out of the bed. "What happened?" Mitch whispered. "I came in here last night to check on her and she was crying so hard. I wanted to comfort her." "I was going to come see you after I checked on her. Let's step outside." "Yes sir." Mitch and I walked out of Ophelia's room and into the hallway. I saw Jax, Noah and Oliver standing there as well. "What's going on?" I asked. “We need to talk." Mitch said. I walked into my room first and Mitch, Noah, Oliver and Jax wa
Ophelia The next week passed by slowly. Dad, Noah, and Oliver would take turns visiting me during the day. They would bring me fresh clothes and Henry would make me a special basket with my favorite foods. Every day he had something different in the basket for me. When the doctors released Damian, he went back to the compound to grab some clothes and stayed with me. Not only did Damian stay with me, but dad also kept guards posted at the door. I hated having security, and I knew it was not going to get any better once I got home. Liam came by once before leaving to go back to New York City. Dad had bought me a new phone and I was able to call Sam, Chase, and Tyler. They still had no idea what had happened, so I had to come up with a lie. When dad cancelled my birthday party, he apparently did not give a reason, he had Ben send out a mass email letting everyone know my party was cancelled. Finally, the day arrived for me to go
DamianWhen we got back to the states after deployment, Noah told me to take a few days and go to Texas, then he would pick me up from there and bring me to New York. Noah knew the strained relationship I had with my family in Texas. But he insisted on me going down there.I went to Texas for a few days and stayed in the cabin on the ranch property. Despite everything that had happened in the past, most of my family was happy to see me. I hadn't been home since I left to join the Army. Of course, Tyson and I still were not on good terms, but none of that mattered. After catching up with everyone, I finally called Noah and told him I was ready to go to New York. He told me to give him a few hours and he would be down to get me.I met Noah at the airport and was surprised because they had their own private jet. He told me that Nathan and Brad had also accepted the job and we would pic
DamianGrowing up in Texas was outstanding. I was an only child and spent most of my childhood working with my father on our ranch. We had a large ranch in West Texas with horses and cattle. Every day after school I would hurry home to help dad tend to the animals or round up the cattle. We spent our weekends repairing fencing around the ranch or working on the new barns we were building. As I came into my teen years, I had some trouble in school. It took little for me to get in a fight. I'm still not sure why I was like that. My parents were on the way to the school to speak with the principal about my behavior. A few hours after my parents dropped me off with my aunt and uncle, two officers showed up at their house. That was the day my entire world came crashing down around me. While they were on the way to the school, a drunk driver crossed the white line and hit my parents' truck head on. The ac
Ophelia2 Years later:Looking at my reflection in the mirror, I could not believe it was finally happening. Today was the day I married the man of my dreams. The man who has protected me and fought for me. The man who brings me peace and comfort. I never expected to fall in love with my bodyguard, but Damian wasn't just any bodyguard. He was my everything, and I could not wait to be Mrs. Damian Blackman. I chose a very elegant dress made of lace and tulle with a modern fit and flared silhouette with a gorgeous lace train. The sweetheart neckline and natural waistline complimented my figure perfectly. There was beading and latticework on the bodice, while sequins and the addition of silver and ivory beading added to the dress. The sexy silhouette finished with a chapel length train and a lace hemline. All my girls were with me, including Lana. She has become such a great
Damian I brought Ophelia to one of the rooms and told her to rest then made my way to the bottom deck. We only had a few more hours before we would be ready to leave Russia and finally go home. When I walked onto the deck, I saw Mitch talking to Oliver and Noah. "Hey Boss." "Damian, how's your shoulder?" "It's good. I'm sorry about Jax. What happened?" "Yeah, me too. But Nathan and Oscar missed a sniper and Jax was killed when he came from behind one of the containers.""How the hell did they miss a sniper?" "According to them, when they scanned the first time, they only saw one sniper. Once Jax gave the signal, they took out that sniper. I'm guessing the other sniper was hiding somewhere because after the sniper was down a little while later, we started getting hit with another one. That's what happened to Andrew and
Mitch I watched as the men cleaned up the mess that was left from the fight with Ivankov. The concrete was stained red from the amount of blood that flowed over it. Oliver had taken charge and was barking out orders and making sure that everyone was doing what needed to get done. It had been a little while since the response team left the port to assist the team at the compound. Everything had been silent on their end and I was not sure what was going on. I was anxiously waiting to hear something from them. Once Oliver had given out orders, he walked over to me, “So what do you want to do with Liam and Ivankov? Are you planning to take them back to the states?” “I’m not planning to let them go. They both need to pay for what they have done. Because of them, Jax is dead and several more of our guys are dead.” “Let me handle it. I’ve jus
DamianWhile we waited for the signal, we split off into groups surrounding three sides of the compound. We each had a brick of C4 that we would place on the wall to blow our way into the compound. I had realized that this was not going to be graceful. We were not going to be able to sneak in quietly, we were about to make a lot of noise.“All teams get ready to set bombs,” Noah said over the radio. He kept his eyes on the watchtower to see when the guard turned and when he was facing us. We had to time this perfectly or we would give away our position.I got into position and when Noah motioned, I ran to the wall and placed a brick of C4 on the wall. I waited for Noah to motion again then ran back to the cover of the woods. “Bombs set.” team one and two said across the radio. I breathed a sigh of relief that they were able to set
MitchAmber made sure all the girls knew what to do. She did their makeup so that it looked like they had been beaten and messed up their hair. She told them to keep their heads down so that Liam would not recognize any of them. We loaded the girls into the container and the crane picked it up from the ship and brought it down onto the ground. During our trip, I had the guys outfit the container to make sure the girls would not be harmed when bullets started flying. I knew they were nervous, but they each agreed to play the part.Once everyone was in place, Javier and I got into the backseat of one of the Knights and Jax got into the front seat. We were going to sit in the truck until it was time. We made sure to have everything done before Ivankov and his men showed up.Nathan came across the radio and told us there was a sniper about 500 yards out. He and Oscar were going to take him out as soon a
Mitch We made it to Russia, two days ahead of schedule and were only a few hours from docking. Jax had the men on the bottom deck and was getting ready. They each put on Kevlar vests and the containers emptied quickly as each man armed themselves with weapons and ammo. I placed a call to Jason and told him we were only hours away. It surprised him we would dock early. But I didn’t want to take any chances. I wanted my men in place before Ivankov and his men even arrived. Jax had drawn out plans on where the containers would be placed giving us both an advantage and cover. Nathan and Oscar were busy setting up on the highest point on the ship, giving them the best vantage point. You couldn’t even tell there was anyone up there. Ben launched his drone and flew to the coordinates that Jason had sent of the compound. Once he was overhead, he informed me that there were abou
Mitch The next morning, I woke up to find Amber still in my bed snuggled against my chest. She looked adorable sleeping so peacefully. I carefully got up and went to the bathroom, taking a quick shower, and getting dressed. When I walked out of the bathroom she was still sleeping peacefully. I leaned over and kissed her forehead then walked out of the room. I walked down the hall and to the door that leads outside. When I stepped outside, I could see we were in the channel being brought in by tugboats to the dock. Placing my hands on the rail I looked out over the water towards land. I loved visiting Ireland; the country was beautiful. Should I ever actually retire, this would be where I would want to spend the rest of my days. I turned around and started walking to the bridge. Looking down at the bottom deck, I could see the guys getting the harnesses ready. There were paint buckets and brushes
