Ophelia
When we crossed back into New York, I figured it was time to break the silence and find out what that kiss was about.
"So, you want to tell me what that kiss was about now?"
He looked over at me then back at the road, "I don’t know. I’m sorry I did that. You’re my boss’s daughter and I’m not supposed to do that.”
I turned in my seat to look at him and put my hand on his arm, "You don't have to be sorry. I liked it.”
“I know, but your father would kill me if he knew I kissed you. Not to mention, Noah and Oliver would kill me also.”
“I don’t think they would.” I laughed.
He looked at me with a confused look on his face, “We are talking about the same Noah and Oliver, right?”
Knowing that he was accurate about the fact that my brothers were somewhat overprotective of me when it came to guys, I couldn’t help but laugh. “So, we won’t tell anyone.”
He didn't say anything, instead I noticed that he was looking at the mirror watching it intensely.
"Is something wrong?”
"I don't know yet."
He sped the truck up and continued to watch the mirror. I looked out the back window and saw a black SUV riding awfully close to the back of my truck. I saw two more come from behind it.
"Fuck." Damian said.
He continued watching the vehicle, his facial expression turning more and more angry. He stepped on the gas pedal harder and the truck jolted forward. The SUV behind us picked up speed and was right on our tail in a matter of seconds.
I looked out the back window again then looked at Damian, “Can we make it to the house?”
"I’m trying. Call Ben.”
We weren’t far from the house. I knew that if we could get in touch with Ben, he could send more security to help us. I had never been chased like this; this was scaring the hell out of me and I was trying to keep from having a panic attack.
My hands were shaking, and my heart was pounding so loud I could hear it in my ears. Trying to focus, I scrolled through my contacts and finally I found Ben’s number, pressed dial, and put the phone on speaker. When he answered, two large trucks with snowplows attached to the front pulled out from either side of the road, facing each other, and blocking our path. “DAMIAN!” I screamed, grabbing his arm as he put it in front of me. He slammed the brakes trying to stop, but it was too late. My truck hit the snowplows hard. Airbags instantly deployed and hit us from all sides. The back of the truck flew up in the air and we flipped over the two trucks in the middle of the road and landed upside down on the other side of the trucks. Everything went dark.
"O, O, wake up," Damian said, shaking me.
When I opened my eyes pain instantly radiated over my whole body. Blood was running down my face and when I looked at Damian, he also had blood running down his face.
Panic set in as I realized that we were upside down in the truck, only thing holding us in the seats were the seatbelts, "What the fuck was that?"
Before he could say anything else, I saw several men walking up to the truck. Damian started struggling, trying to get out of the seatbelt as they opened the doors. They cut the seatbelts causing us to fall to the roof. When my body hit the roof, I closed my eyes once again being rendered unconscious.
I felt my body being dragged from the truck and I managed to open my eyes. I looked over and saw two men dragging Damian from the driver side. When he stood up, he immediately started to fight. He hit the man on his left and the guy went down, the guy on his right swung at Damian, but missed. When Damian grabbed his gun, another man came out of nowhere and hit him across the back of the head.
I watched in horror as his body fell to the ground, all I could do was scream, "DAMIAN! DAMIAN!"
I started kicking trying to break free from the man that was holding me, "LET ME GO! LET ME GO!" A man grabbed me by the throat and spoke in a language I was not familiar with. "zatknis', chert voz'mi" (shut the fuck up) he yelled in my face. Fear plagued my body as the man placed a black bag over my head.
I had no idea who these men were or what they wanted with me. Nothing like this had ever happened before. He tied my wrists and picked me up around the waist.
"NO! NO! NO! STOP! LET ME GO!" I hollered, as I struggled to break free from the man's arms. I heard truck doors open and was forced inside, then the doors slammed shut.
I kept trying to feel for Damian, but he was not with me. The doors opened to the front and it sounded like two men got into the vehicle. The truck started to move slowly before stopping and one of the men hollered out something, "sozhgi eto." (burn it)
"WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS? WHAT DO YOU WANT?”
“PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE LET ME GO!"
Neither of the men responded to my cries. I laid there in the back of the vehicle crying uncontrollably. I had no idea who these men were or where they were taking me. Overcome with pain and exhaustion my eyes grew heavy and I passed out once more.
When I finally woke up, I was sitting in a chair; my arms and legs were chained to it. Someone pulled the bag from my head and bright lights instantly came on. I turned my head trying to shield my eyes from the lights. I tugged at the chains trying to free my arms, but it was no use. These were thick chains; my little ass was not going to be able to break them. Once my eyes adjusted to the lights, I turned my head back and saw a man standing there.
"Who are you? What do you want? Where is Damian?" I yelled, but the man just stood there.
"Answer me dammit! What the fuck!" I screamed even louder.
Suddenly another man walked into the large open room where I was being held. He grabbed a chair, brought it over, and sat right in front of me, while another man held a camera. I had no idea who this was or what he wanted. He started to talk but I still did not understand anything that he was saying. "khvatit krichat'" (stop yelling)
I shook my head, "I don’t speak your language. Do you understand anything I’m saying?”
The man spoke with a thick accent that was hard to understand. "I understand you. Now stop yelling."
Satisfied that he understood English, I yelled at him. “What the hell do you want?”
He stood up and slapped me hard across the face causing me to cry out, then he sat back down, "I said stop yelling."
I pressed the side of my face to my shoulder trying to stop the stinging pain.
"That is better. Now, my name is Anatoly.”
Before he could finish his sentence, I interrupted him, “What do you want with me?”
“I don’t want anything from you little one. I want something from your father. He had plenty of time to agree to work with us, but he has refused us. Maybe this will change his mind.”
He held out a piece of paper and I glanced over what was written on the page. It was a ransom note to my father, but they weren't asking for money.
I shook my head in protest, "I'm not reading that."
More lights turned on and I saw Damian sitting on the other side of the room, arms and legs chained to a chair also. There were several men standing on either side of him.
"Damian! Damian!" I screamed, hoping he would wake up.
I watched as he slowly lifted his head and began to take in his surroundings, "What the fuck?" He growled, as he began to tug at the chains.
"Now. Look into the camera and read." Anatoly commanded.
I stared at Anatoly sitting in front of me and suddenly anger came over me, "Fuck you!" I yelled and gathered up as much saliva as I could and spit in his face. He closed his eyes and shook his head back and forth. He looked at me with a malicious grin then stood up, reached back, and slapped me across the face hard once again.
I cried out again as the side of my face was throbbing in pain. I could hear Damian yelling, "Don’t fucking touch her." Anatoly looked back at the men standing next to Damian, nodded his head and the men started hitting him in the stomach and the face.
"NO! STOP! STOP! DON'T HURT HIM!"
Anatoly motioned for the men to stop hitting Damian and he looked back at me, a deep growl escaped his lips, "Are you ready to comply?"
"Why are you doing this?"
He held out the note once more and motioned to the camera, his voice was deep as he yelled at me, "READ IT!"
Once again, I protested, "No. Tell me why you are doing this."
Anatoly looked back at the men standing next to Damian and nodded. Again, they began hitting him. He had no way to defend himself, all he could do was sit there while the men continued their assault.
"PLEASE STOP! PLEASE! STOP! PLEASE MAKE THEM STOP!" I cried.
He raised his hand and the men stopped. I could see blood running down Damian's face, as his head hung down. He wasn’t moving and I feared that if they continued, they might kill him.
Anatoly looked back at me and spoke, "Now. You will read this. Or should my men continue?"
I stared into the camera trying to stop my tears and started to read.
"Mitch...we have your daughter. You have 1 week...."
I paused as I tried to control my tears and started to read again,
"You have 1 week to comply, or we will be sending you pieces of your daughter."
I stopped reading again. I put my head down, looked back into the camera, and closed my eyes, "Dad...." The man holding the camera turned it off before I could say anything else.
"Now, was that so hard?" he taunted.
"FUCK YOU!"
"Podnimi yeye" (get her up) he commanded another man. The man walked over to me and unlocked the chains on my arms and legs.
“Ophelia run!” I heard Damian yell.
The men next to Damian began hitting him again. I swung at the man next to me hitting him in the face and took off running.
"Poluchit' yeye" (get her) Anatoly yelled.
I looked back and saw a man running after me. I didn't notice the larger man coming at me from the front till I turned back around and was tackled to the floor. The wind was knocked out of me as my back hit the hard floor. The man who tackled me got up and stood over me as I laid there trying to catch my breath. He reached down and wrapped his massive hand around my throat, cutting off my airway. He picked me up holding me in the air, my feet were not even touching the ground. My hands immediately wrapped around his wrist as I tried to pull his hand away from my throat. I could hardly breathe as the man held me, his grip tightening.
"DOSTATOCHNO" (that's enough) Anatoly commanded the man who was holding me in the air.
He dropped me, and I fell to the floor, grabbing my neck trying to catch my breath. He grabbed me by the arm and walked me back to Anatoly.
"Where do you think you are going? There is no place for you to run." Anatoly scoffed.
"Zaperet' ikh v otdel'nykh komnatakh" (lock them up in separate rooms) he commanded the men standing in the room.
The large man who tackled me and another man grabbed my arms and we walked down a long hallway. The men standing by Damian unlocked his chains, lifted him up and dragged him down the same hall also. One of the men opened the door and pushed me into a concrete room slamming the door behind me. I heard another door open and they dropped Damian in a room next to mine. I turned around and started banging on the metal door. A small slide window on the door opened "chto ty khochesh'?" (what do you want) I stepped back and put my head down. I had no idea what the man had said. The small window closed, and I heard the men walk off.
"DAMIAN! DAMIAN!" I yelled, as I beat on the concrete wall trying to wake him up.
When I got no response, I stepped away from the wall and turned around to assess the room I was in. It was dark, there was only one ridiculously small window all the way at the top of the wall. It was getting cold and there was no blanket in sight. I looked over and saw a dirty mattress laying in the middle of the floor. “EWW.” I walked over and pushed it to the corner, there was no way in hell I was sleeping on that. I went back over to the wall that separated mine and Damian's room and slid down. I pulled my legs close to my chest trying to stay warm. I put my head down on my knees and started to cry. I had no idea how long we would be here. I had no idea what they had planned. I hoped that my dad would find us quickly.
Mitch After breakfast I went upstairs and took a quick shower. I put on my black Armani suit with a white dress shirt leaving the top two buttons open. I walked down to my office to grab some paperwork, went out the front door and got into my Rolls-Royce. I drove around to the back of the compound to my private airstrip where Jax and eight of my security guys were already waiting. I got out of the car and walked up the stairs of the plane. We each took a seat and Jax told the pilot to take off. I was flying to Newark to have a meeting with a Russian enforcer named Anatoly. He approached me several months ago on behalf of his boss Ivankov. I've heard of this boss before; he and his son Viktor get off on causing other people pain. Apparently, Ivankov had the idea that we could work together and that he could use my ships to transport certain other things. While I may transport weap
Mitch It was almost midnight when we made our descent behind the house. I could see the lights on around the garage. When the plane landed, I walked down the stairs then Jax and I got in the car that was waiting. The driver pulled around and stopped at the garage, where I saw several police vehicles sitting out front. Jax and I got out of the car and stood there for a moment. I could see the wreckage that once was Ophelia's truck already sitting inside. "Mitch. I am so sorry about what happened. I know you want to handle this on your own, but some of my deputies would like to help. Figured you may need some extra manpower,"Chief Miller said as he shook my hand. "Chief, I have an army. I have military grade drones and more weapons than your department has ever seen. Thank you, but I do
Ophelia Observing my surroundings, I saw a lot more men standing in the room with guns in their hands. I looked over and stared at Damian there on his knees. I could see the anger building in his eyes as Anatoly walked up to me and began to speak. "This can go easily for you andyour man; all you have to do is answer my questions. Understand?" I nodded, "I understand." "Tell me what you know.” he commanded. "I don't know anything." I said softly. “Don’t lie to me.” He hissed. “I’m not lying. I don’t know anything about his business.” He growled, before back handing me across the face. "I'll ask you again," he started to speak again before Damian interrupted him. "DON'T FUCKING TOUCH HER!" Damian yelled, through clenched teeth and eyes fixed on Anatoly. Anatoly looked over at him and gave a little smirk then chuckled. "And what do you think you are
Ophelia It's been four days since we were taken, each day is worse than the day before. I can feel the swelling in my face and eyes. There are marks all over my body, my throat hurts badly I can hardly speak. My arms and legs are covered in bruises. There is dried blood over most of my body and between my legs. I haven't had a shower since I was taken and the smell of myself makes me want to vomit. They bring me one meal a day and one bottle of water, usually at night. It looks like slop with a piece of bread, it's disgusting but it's better than nothing. I have not heard Damian since the gunshot. I am guessing that he is dead, and I am all alone in here. My body is exhausted and weak as I have not hardly slept since I've been here. As I sit here looking up toward the window, it suddenly hit me, today is my 21st birthday. WOW, hell of a way to spend my birthday. I s
Mitch After Ben and James left, I walked back to the house and to the kitchen. Henry was preparing dinner, but my appetite was nonexistent at the moment. I grabbed a bottle of water from the refrigerator and patted Henry on the back as I passed by him. I went upstairs to my room and walked out onto the balcony. Lifting my head up to the sky, I whispered, "I am so sorry my love. I could not keep our baby safe. Please forgive me.” At that moment, as much as I hated to think about it, I was almost glad Grace wasn't here. She would be so disappointed in me. She was the love of my life, my light in the darkness, the one good thing in this horrible life. She never tried to take me from this life but made me promise that I would always keep our children safe. She never judged me for the things I did. To this day I have no idea why someone like her ever loved someone like me. I had done so many bad
Mitch When we got to the hospital, there were nurses already waiting for us. We laid Ophelia down on the bed and they took her away. Jax walked in with Damian and a nurse put him in an exam room also. I still could not believe we found them both alive. I tried to follow them, but another nurse placed her hand on my chest to stop me. She asked me to wait in the waiting room. I didn't want to wait, but she told me that I needed to let them examine Ophelia and that it would be better if I waited. Jax sent the rest of the men back to the compound. I had never been so proud of my guys; we cleared that fucking paper mill like it was nothing. A few of the guys had some flesh wounds, but nothing life threatening. I was proud of the team Jax, Noah and Oliver had trained. Noah, Oliver, Liam, James, Jax and I all went into the waiting room and took a seat. We were all still pretty jacked up from the figh
Ophelia Iopened my eyes, it was sunrise. I was standing in a beautiful field of lavender. I looked down and sawthat I was wearing a long white dress. There were no bruises, I felt no pain, and the blood that once covered my body was gone. I closed my eyes and dropped my arms to my side and walked through the field allowing my fingers to gently graze the flowers. I opened my eyes and saw that there was a woman standing in front of me. She was wearing a long white gown as well. Her back was facing me, and I had no idea who she was until she turned around to face me. "Mom," I cried out, as I ran over to her and wrapped my arms around her. "My beautiful baby girl." She said, wrapping her arms around me. Her warm embrace made me feel so much peace. I never wanted to let go. I missed my mom so much. I could not believe that she was here with me.
Damian "Damian." I heard a voice and felt someone put their hand on my shoulder. I woke up and swung my hand. Mitch grabbed my hand before it hit him, "Watch that hand boy." I took a deep breath relieved to find that it was him, "Sorry Sir." I looked down and saw Ophelia was still sleeping. I moved my arms slowly trying to not wake her and got out of the bed. "What happened?" Mitch whispered. "I came in here last night to check on her and she was crying so hard. I wanted to comfort her." "I was going to come see you after I checked on her. Let's step outside." "Yes sir." Mitch and I walked out of Ophelia's room and into the hallway. I saw Jax, Noah and Oliver standing there as well. "What's going on?" I asked. “We need to talk." Mitch said. I walked into my room first and Mitch, Noah, Oliver and Jax wa
DamianWhen we got back to the states after deployment, Noah told me to take a few days and go to Texas, then he would pick me up from there and bring me to New York. Noah knew the strained relationship I had with my family in Texas. But he insisted on me going down there.I went to Texas for a few days and stayed in the cabin on the ranch property. Despite everything that had happened in the past, most of my family was happy to see me. I hadn't been home since I left to join the Army. Of course, Tyson and I still were not on good terms, but none of that mattered. After catching up with everyone, I finally called Noah and told him I was ready to go to New York. He told me to give him a few hours and he would be down to get me.I met Noah at the airport and was surprised because they had their own private jet. DamianGrowing up in Texas was outstanding. I was an only child and spent most of my childhood working with my father on our ranch. We had a large ranch in West Texas with horses and cattle. Every day after school I would hurry home to help dad tend to the animals or round up the cattle. We spent our weekends repairing fencing around the ranch or working on the new barns we were building. As I came into my teen years, I had some trouble in school. It took little for me to get in a fight. I'm still not sure why I was like that. My parents were on the way to the school to speak with the principal about my behavior. A few hours after my parents dropped me off with my aunt and uncle, two officers showed up at their house. That was the day my entire world came crashing down around me. While they were on the way to the school, a drunk driver crossed the white line and hit my parents' truck head on. The ac
Ophelia2 Years later:Looking at my reflection in the mirror, I could not believe it was finally happening. Today was the day I married the man of my dreams. The man who has protected me and fought for me. The man who brings me peace and comfort. I never expected to fall in love with my bodyguard, but Damian wasn't just any bodyguard. He was my everything, and I could not wait to be Mrs. Damian Blackman. I chose a very elegant dress made of lace and tulle with a modern fit and flared silhouette with a gorgeous lace train. The sweetheart neckline and natural waistline complimented my figure perfectly. There was beading and latticework on the bodice, while sequins and the addition of silver and ivory beading added to the dress. The sexy silhouette finished with a chapel length train and a lace hemline. All my girls were with me, including Lana. She has become such a great
Damian I brought Ophelia to one of the rooms and told her to rest then made my way to the bottom deck. We only had a few more hours before we would be ready to leave Russia and finally go home. When I walked onto the deck, I saw Mitch talking to Oliver and Noah. "Hey Boss." "Damian, how's your shoulder?" "It's good. I'm sorry about Jax. What happened?" "Yeah, me too. But Nathan and Oscar missed a sniper and Jax was killed when he came from behind one of the containers.""How the hell did they miss a sniper?" "According to them, when they scanned the first time, they only saw one sniper. Once Jax gave the signal, they took out that sniper. I'm guessing the other sniper was hiding somewhere because after the sniper was down a little while later, we started getting hit with another one. That's what happened to Andrew and
Mitch I watched as the men cleaned up the mess that was left from the fight with Ivankov. The concrete was stained red from the amount of blood that flowed over it. Oliver had taken charge and was barking out orders and making sure that everyone was doing what needed to get done. It had been a little while since the response team left the port to assist the team at the compound. Everything had been silent on their end and I was not sure what was going on. I was anxiously waiting to hear something from them. Once Oliver had given out orders, he walked over to me, “So what do you want to do with Liam and Ivankov? Are you planning to take them back to the states?” “I’m not planning to let them go. They both need to pay for what they have done. Because of them, Jax is dead and several more of our guys are dead.” “Let me handle it. I’ve jus
DamianWhile we waited for the signal, we split off into groups surrounding three sides of the compound. We each had a brick of C4 that we would place on the wall to blow our way into the compound. I had realized that this was not going to be graceful. We were not going to be able to sneak in quietly, we were about to make a lot of noise.“All teams get ready to set bombs,” Noah said over the radio. He kept his eyes on the watchtower to see when the guard turned and when he was facing us. We had to time this perfectly or we would give away our position.I got into position and when Noah motioned, I ran to the wall and placed a brick of C4 on the wall. I waited for Noah to motion again then ran back to the cover of the woods. “Bombs set.” team one and two said across the radio. I breathed a sigh of relief that they were able to set
MitchAmber made sure all the girls knew what to do. She did their makeup so that it looked like they had been beaten and messed up their hair. She told them to keep their heads down so that Liam would not recognize any of them. We loaded the girls into the container and the crane picked it up from the ship and brought it down onto the ground. During our trip, I had the guys outfit the container to make sure the girls would not be harmed when bullets started flying. I knew they were nervous, but they each agreed to play the part.Once everyone was in place, Javier and I got into the backseat of one of the Knights and Jax got into the front seat. We were going to sit in the truck until it was time. We made sure to have everything done before Ivankov and his men showed up.Nathan came across the radio and told us there was a sniper about 500 yards out. He and Oscar were going to take him out as soon a
Mitch We made it to Russia, two days ahead of schedule and were only a few hours from docking. Jax had the men on the bottom deck and was getting ready. They each put on Kevlar vests and the containers emptied quickly as each man armed themselves with weapons and ammo. I placed a call to Jason and told him we were only hours away. It surprised him we would dock early. But I didn’t want to take any chances. I wanted my men in place before Ivankov and his men even arrived. Jax had drawn out plans on where the containers would be placed giving us both an advantage and cover. Nathan and Oscar were busy setting up on the highest point on the ship, giving them the best vantage point. You couldn’t even tell there was anyone up there. Ben launched his drone and flew to the coordinates that Jason had sent of the compound. Once he was overhead, he informed me that there were abou
Mitch The next morning, I woke up to find Amber still in my bed snuggled against my chest. She looked adorable sleeping so peacefully. I carefully got up and went to the bathroom, taking a quick shower, and getting dressed. When I walked out of the bathroom she was still sleeping peacefully. I leaned over and kissed her forehead then walked out of the room. I walked down the hall and to the door that leads outside. When I stepped outside, I could see we were in the channel being brought in by tugboats to the dock. Placing my hands on the rail I looked out over the water towards land. I loved visiting Ireland; the country was beautiful. Should I ever actually retire, this would be where I would want to spend the rest of my days. I turned around and started walking to the bridge. Looking down at the bottom deck, I could see the guys getting the harnesses ready. There were paint buckets and brushes
