Mia Miller
I take a deep breath, closing my eyes and imagining how everything would be if this whole mess were different.
I'm in the car with the father of my child, and his sister, praying that the wolves won't want to end me just because I'm invading their territory.
I never imagined myself in a situation like this. It all seemed like a fantasy.
"We've arrived," Ethan announces as the car stops. We're in front of a dense forest area. "Welcome to Estes Park."
"Is this a reserve?" I ask, observing everything around.
"Yes. We've lived here, werewolves have hidden here since we settled in Colorado," Ethan replies, his voice full of conviction.
"And... how does no one know you exist?" My curiosity is stronger than my fear.
"Simple, Mia. With the right people, you can hide even the worst of secrets. We're careful. When we kill, we hide the bodies," he says seriously, freezing me for a moment.
"Excuse me?" I say, incredulous.
"Just kidding," he responds, with a cold smile as he gets out of the car. "We only kill when necessary."
The pack's eyes continue to follow me as we walk. Every step is a challenge, every face a new uncertainty. Lorenzo, in my arms, starts crying, sensing the tense atmosphere around us. I try to calm him, but it's hard when I'm on the verge of falling apart myself.
Ethan stops in front of a large wooden cabin, different from the others I've seen along the way. It's more imposing, clearly the pack's command center.
"Go in," he orders, not giving me a choice.
When I cross the door, I'm greeted by a large, rustic room, decorated with animal pelts and old weapons. The feeling of being out of my element is even stronger here.
"This is the pack's main house," Ethan says, without ceremony. "This is where we discuss the most important issues. And from now on, you're part of it, like it or not."
I glare at him, feeling the irritation bubbling up inside me. "I never asked to be part of this, Ethan."
He shrugs, not caring about my response. "But Lorenzo is my son, and that changes everything. Now, you need to get used to our world."
I hate him. I hate the way he bosses people around, how he controls everything and everyone around him, including me. I hate how he makes me obey without me even realizing it. But on the other hand, I can't deny the power he has.
As I stand there, I can't stop thinking about how my life was before. I remember my graduation, the pride my father felt for me. That was the happiest day of my life. My mother, I don't remember much. She died young, and the few memories I have of her are vague.
Now, here I am, terrified, as I follow Ethan. I got pregnant by a wolf, and not just any wolf, but an Alpha. And now, I'm about to meet his pack.
"Lorenzo will have lessons with our wolves. He will learn to be one of us."
"He's a baby. How can he know about that?" I question.
"Exactly, Mia, it's in his blood." Remember our agreement and the contract you signed!
He would never leave me in peace. That was obvious.
I was still digesting Ethan's words when, without further delay, he opened the door to a porch that led to a clearing. As soon as we stepped outside, I was immediately surrounded by a crowd of wolves and humans. All eyes were on me, as if I were an intruder in a sacred territory. Lorenzo, in my arms, started crying, feeling the pressure around us.
The murmurs started immediately. "Who is this human?", "What is the Alpha doing with a child?", "He promised us a Luna, but brings a hybrid." I could feel the stares full of judgment, disdain. The weight of what was happening hit me hard. I was being introduced, not only as the mother of the Alpha's child, but as a problem to them.
What the hell.
Ethan, noticing the discomfort and tension in the air, raised his hand, silencing everyone instantly. The authority he exuded was undeniable, and the respect – or perhaps the fear – his pack had for him was almost palpable.
"Listen up, everyone!" His voice echoed across the clearing. "This is Lorenzo, my son and heir. I won't allow him to be treated any differently just because he's the son of a human. He carries my blood, and that's enough. Anyone who has a problem with that will have a problem with me."
A silence followed Ethan's words. I could feel the discomfort of the pack members. They disagreed. It was visible in their eyes. Ethan, the powerful Alpha, the one who was supposed to bring a strong Luna, one of them, now brought a hybrid child. But no one dared challenge him. I, however, felt every stare, every unspoken thought like a dagger. I wanted to disappear, vanish from there.
Ethan, seemingly satisfied with the silence that followed, turned to me and took Lorenzo from my arms. "I'm going to introduce him to the other pups. They need to get used to the idea that one day he will be their Alpha."
I nodded, feeling a lump in my throat, but before I could say anything, he was already walking toward the area where the younger wolves were. I stood there, alone, enveloped by the forest and the stares that still followed me, trying to understand how the hell my life had come to this point.
My thoughts began to wander. How did everything go so wrong? I remembered when I was just Mia, the simple girl who dreamed of a quiet life, engaged to the man I loved, far from any complications. Now, I was in the middle of a wolf pack, the mother of a hybrid child, tied to a man I barely knew, but who controlled every aspect of my life. Unbelievable.
While I was lost in these thoughts, a woman approached. I didn't recognize her, but from her fierce look, I knew immediately she wasn't here to welcome me. Her eyes scanned me from head to toe.
"So, you're Mia, the human bitch who stole my Alpha?" She spat the words like venom, her fists clenched by her sides.
I felt my face flush instantly. I knew I wasn't welcome here, but hearing it out loud made me realize how complicated and dangerous the world I was entering truly was.
"I... I didn't steal anyone," I replied, my voice trembling. But even as the words left my mouth, I realized how weak they sounded. I didn't know what I was doing here, and the truth was, part of me wanted to run away.
The woman took a step forward, invading my personal space, and I could feel the rage radiating from her. "You think you can just show up here and change everything? What do you think is going to happen? That we'll accept you and your child like one of us? You're an intruder, a threat to our pack. Ethan will never want you."
She made a move to touch me, but I grabbed her hand.
"Don't you dare touch me, wolf," I said.
Before she could continue, Ethan appeared at my side, his eyes narrowed and full of rage. He didn't need to say anything. The woman immediately stepped back, her eyes falling to the ground in submission.
"I won't repeat myself, Amber," Ethan said firmly, looking directly at the woman.
The woman nodded in agreement, muttering an apology before quickly walking away.
"I... Sorry, my Alpha."
I stood there, frozen. Shame, fear, confusion.
How could I survive this?
I had no choice. I would have to find a way to survive in this new world, for Lorenzo, and for myself.
Mia MillerThe silence that followed was unbearable. Amber hesitated for a moment, but her face was burning with embarrassment and anger, though she knew she had no choice. Without saying another word, she turned and left, the door slamming behind us.The room felt heavier after she left... I took a deep breath because I didn’t want to get upset. Ethan turned to me, his expression no less severe. "Are you okay?"I wanted to scream at him, ask why he always did this—made decisions for me, put me in impossible situations, and expected me to just accept it. But instead, I just nodded. I was tired of fighting. Lorenzo was with me, and that was all that mattered at that moment."Is this going to happen often?" I asked, trying to keep calm. "People from your pack hating me just because I’m human?"He sighed and ran a hand through his hair."There will be resistance, yes. They're not used to this. But I’ll make it clear that you and Lorenzo are part of my life now. They'll have to accept it.
Ethan GreenwoodThe trip back was quieter than I expected. Mia was visibly disturbed after the confrontation with Amber and the strange events from the night before. But as much as it bothered me, I had more urgent matters to take care of. Nick had mentioned something about the investigations, something that could change the game.As soon as we arrived in the city, Lorenzo ran straight into Esther's arms, and she welcomed him with a warm smile. That gave me the time I needed to take care of what truly mattered. Nick was waiting for me, as promised.“Mia,” I called as she prepared to head in another direction. “You’re coming with me.”She blinked, surprised. “Where to?”“To see the bar’s accounts. It’s time for you to start understanding how things work around here.”She hesitated but didn’t argue. She knew that when I made a decision, there was no turning back.“Okay.”As we walked together to the office, I felt that something was different about her. Mia, usually so talkative, was un

The frustration built in my chest, making me even more anxious. Mia MillerI couldn’t sleep the rest of the night. Every time I tried to relax, that message invaded my mind, bringing back the cruel reality. Ethan was investigating me. He knew more about my past than I did. The truth about my father... What else was he hiding from me?I silently moved away from the bed, being careful not to wake him. I needed a moment to breathe, to think, away from him and the weight of his secrets. The early morning was cold, and as the wind hit the window, my thoughts grew darker. How could I have been so naïve? I let myself be carried away by a moment of weakness, by the warmth of his arms, only to discover that he had been hiding something all along. The worst part? I knew there was so much more behind it."What are you doing?" he whispered, giving me a scare. "Come back to bed. I’d love to feel your butt against me." He sniffed my neck. How could he be so deceitful? But then, what else to expect from a man who is a wolf?I stood by the window, hugging my arms
Mia Miller I step off the bus with the small suitcase in my hands. I didn't tell anyone I was coming because I wanted to surprise my fiancé.It's been two months since I've seen the sky of this city. I missed the fresh air of Colorado so much.I clutch Collin's apartment keys and smile. He didn't know I was coming, and he was at work at this hour. I decided to wait for him here. I spent two weeks away, trying to find a job in the city. I had some interviews there, but I wasn't hired.I was turned down last time because I didn't have experience in the Italian language, and the job required it. Which made no sense to me.At the peak of my twenty-two years, I felt like a loser.I turn the key in the lock and open the door. Stepping into the living room, I find everything messy, typical of him.For the past nine months, we've been preparing for our wedding. 0, Even though I'm still unemployed, my almost-husband said it wasn't a problem for him.I love

My hands trembled, and my heart pounded in my chest. There aren't enough words in the dictionary to describe everything I'm going through.I scanned with my eyes and finally spotted Charlotte in a corner of the bar.I fought against the tightness in my chest as I made my way through the bar's corridor, trying to focus on the flashing lights, which seemed to try to calm all the pain within me."Mia, are you okay?" She approached and hugged me."Charlotte…" My voice could barely sustain the pain engulfing me. "He… He was with her."I hadn't even sat down yet, and I began recounting every detail. My words escaped amidst sobs, anger and hurt overflowing with every syllable. Her embrace was a safe harbor at that moment. The weight of betrayal settled in my chest, turning each breath into an effort."Everything I believed to be solid has crumbled, Char. I trusted him so much…

Mia MillerI had just placed my feet on the floor and opened my eyes. My baby, Lorenzo, was beside me, as always. He never left my side for a second."Mama," he hugged me with his little arms."Good morning, my love," I smiled, feeling that warmth in my heart that only he could awaken. Lorenzo was such a sweet child, with his big curious eyes and that smile that melted away any worry. As I stroked his soft hair, I heard a soft knock on the door. Before I could respond, the door slowly opened, revealing a tall woman with a striking presence. I knew who she was before she even introduced herself — Esther, Ethan’s sister."May I come in?" she asked with a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes.I nodded in agreement. She entered the room, her movements elegant and controlled, as if she were always aware of her posture and the impact she had on others. She stopped a few steps away from us, her eyes focused on Lorenzo, who looked at her with that innocent expression only a young child coul
I let out a long, controlled sigh as I watched Esther, my younger sister, arranging her bags in the room. Despite being siblings, there were moments when I forgot how relentless she could be, her temperament often mirroring my own."Did you have to make that scene?" I asked, crossing my arms and staring at her seriously."What scene, Ethan?" She turned around, raising an eyebrow with a hint of challenge."That thing you did in front of Mia," I replied, trying to keep my tone controlled, but unable to completely hide my irritation.Esther looked at me with that analytical gaze that always made me feel like I was under a magnifying glass. "She's human. I just found it strange, Ethan. You never brought women into this house, which used to be our parents', let alone a human."I knew she was right. This house was sacred to us, a place that carried memories of our family, and I had always kept it closed off, even to myself. Bringing Mia here, letting her into my life and the house where we
