Mia Miller
I couldn’t sleep the rest of the night. Every time I tried to relax, that message invaded my mind, bringing back the cruel reality. Ethan was investigating me. He knew more about my past than I did. The truth about my father... What else was he hiding from me?
I silently moved away from the bed, being careful not to wake him. I needed a moment to breathe, to think, away from him and the weight of his secrets. The early morning was cold, and as the wind hit the window, my thoughts grew darker.
How could I have been so naïve? I let myself be carried away by a moment of weakness, by the warmth of his arms, only to discover that he had been hiding something all along. The worst part? I knew there was so much more behind it.
"What are you doing?" he whispered, giving me a scare. "Come back to bed. I’d love to feel your butt against me." He sniffed my neck.
How could he be so deceitful?
But then, what else to expect from a man who is a wolf?
I stood by the window, hugging my arms in an attempt to warm myself from the cold coming from outside and the ice now taking over my chest. Ethan slept peacefully, as if he hadn’t done anything wrong. As if he wasn’t messing with my life in ways I could never imagine.
When dawn broke, I returned to bed and lay beside him, keeping a careful distance. I couldn’t let him notice my restlessness, at least not yet. What was I supposed to do with this information? I didn’t know. I only knew one thing for sure: I no longer trusted him.
"Good morning," Ethan said with his hoarse voice, moving closer to pull me by the waist.
I subtly turned away, pretending to be distracted. "We need to go back," was all I could say, my voice cold, almost distant.
He seemed to notice the change in my tone, but didn’t insist. He just nodded and got up to get ready. The drive back home was silent, and I knew he felt the tension. I could see him glancing sideways, trying to decipher what had changed.
We arrived home, and I got out of the car without a word. My heart was pounding, as if waiting for the right moment to explode. I needed to confront him. I couldn’t keep this inside anymore.
Later, when Lorenzo was safely with the babysitter, I went after Ethan. He was in the office, with a concentrated expression, but his eyes lifted as soon as I entered the room.
"Mia," he began, noticing my state. "You look—"
"Are you investigating my father?" the words left my mouth before I could control them, my voice low but sharp.
Ethan’s face turned into a mask of surprise, but it didn’t last long. He quickly composed himself, letting out a heavy sigh.
"Mia, I can explain," he began, but my anger was already bubbling up.
"Explain? You spent the night with me, and at the same time, you were hiding the fact that you’re investigating my life! Who do you think you are?" My voice trembled, and I hated it, hated showing how much it was affecting me.
Ethan took a step toward me, but I raised my hand to stop him.
"Tell me the truth, Ethan. Now. No lies. What are you really doing? Why are you investigating my father?"
He paused for a moment, his eyes locked on mine as if he were carefully choosing his next words.
"I started the investigation because I knew there was something about your family that wasn’t clear," he confessed, his shoulders tense. "And when Lorenzo was kidnapped, it just confirmed that your past was involved with something bigger, something dangerous."
"Something dangerous?" I repeated, incredulous. "My father was involved in this? He was just an ordinary man, Ethan! What did you find out?"
He took a deep breath, his gaze fixed on me. "Your father wasn’t who you thought he was, Mia. There’s a lot about his history that you still don’t know. He had enemies, and they weren’t ordinary people. They were wolves, like me."
I felt the ground disappear beneath my feet. My father? Enemies? Wolves? None of it made sense.
"Why didn’t you tell me before?" My voice was almost a whisper, the pain evident in every syllable.
"I wanted to protect you," he replied, his voice full of guilt. "I was waiting for the right moment to tell you, but after Lorenzo was kidnapped, everything became more urgent."
I crossed my arms, trying to stay calm. "And what do you really want from me, Ethan? Protection or control?"
He moved closer, his expression serious. "Mia, I never wanted to control you. I just want to keep you safe. And now that we know who you really are… that’s going to get harder."
My eyes widened. "Who I really am?"
"Yes," he said, with a heavy tone. "You’re more than just human, Mia. Your father was a wolf... and you, you’re one too."
I stared at Ethan as if he had just lost his mind. What he was saying simply didn’t make sense. "You must be crazy," I muttered, disbelief flooding my voice. "I know exactly who my father was. He was an ordinary man. He was just... normal. And I’m normal too."
Ethan shook his head, visibly frustrated but still calm. "Mia, listen," he said slowly, trying to find the right words. "I understand that this is hard to accept, but I’m telling you the truth. Your father wasn’t just an ordinary man. He was a wolf. And because of that, you’re part of this too."
I let out a dry laugh, crossing my arms. "A wolf? I’ve never shown any signs of being a wolf, Ethan. I’m human, always have been. You’re completely wrong. Or worse... you’re lying to me."
He took another step toward me, his expression serious. "I’m not lying, Mia. You’re different. Maybe you’re a hybrid, that’s why you’ve never transformed. But there’s a connection in you, something that can’t be ignored. And that’s what led to Lorenzo being kidnapped. They were after something bigger, something that comes from your blood."
I took a step back, feeling my stomach turn. A hybrid?
Mia Miller I step off the bus with the small suitcase in my hands. I didn't tell anyone I was coming because I wanted to surprise my fiancé.It's been two months since I've seen the sky of this city. I missed the fresh air of Colorado so much.I clutch Collin's apartment keys and smile. He didn't know I was coming, and he was at work at this hour. I decided to wait for him here. I spent two weeks away, trying to find a job in the city. I had some interviews there, but I wasn't hired.I was turned down last time because I didn't have experience in the Italian language, and the job required it. Which made no sense to me.At the peak of my twenty-two years, I felt like a loser.I turn the key in the lock and open the door. Stepping into the living room, I find everything messy, typical of him.For the past nine months, we've been preparing for our wedding. 0, Even though I'm still unemployed, my almost-husband said it wasn't a problem for him.I love
Mia MillerI stepped through the bar door, my eyes frantically searching for Charlotte amidst the crowd. My hands trembled, and my heart pounded in my chest. There aren't enough words in the dictionary to describe everything I'm going through.I scanned with my eyes and finally spotted Charlotte in a corner of the bar.I fought against the tightness in my chest as I made my way through the bar's corridor, trying to focus on the flashing lights, which seemed to try to calm all the pain within me."Mia, are you okay?" She approached and hugged me."Charlotte…" My voice could barely sustain the pain engulfing me. "He… He was with her."I hadn't even sat down yet, and I began recounting every detail. My words escaped amidst sobs, anger and hurt overflowing with every syllable. Her embrace was a safe harbor at that moment. The weight of betrayal settled in my chest, turning each breath into an effort."Everything I believed to be solid has crumbled, Char. I trusted him so much…
two years later Mia Miller I opened the car window, feeling the cold wind tousling my messy hair. The cold weather always attracted me, but today it seemed to penetrate my skin, causing me shivers.I looked at Lorenzo, who was sleeping in the car seat, and I recalled that night. Two years had passed, and he was identical to the man with whom I lost my virginity in the parking lot of a bar.Discovering the pregnancy was a complete shock. That pregnancy test made me collapse on the floor like a child. I didn’t want this child. But the moment he was born,I saw his face. Collin's betrayal, and the desperation of not knowing how to manage, all disappeared.Only he mattered."Do you think this is going to work?" I asked, my voice trembling as I tried to keep my composure. You must be wondering how all this happened…And I even wonder for myself."The job there pays well," she replied, her determined look trying to convince me."What exactly do you do there?" I inquired,
Ethan Greenwood The smell of cigarette smoke mixes with the low-volume music. My eyes and ears examined the movement in the bar, capturing every detail. It was another acquisition. We hid a nightclub behind an innocent bar. It was one of our best strategies to keep our secret.I owned the biggest lumber company in Colorado. I was also expanding other businesses around here.I dominated my pack with an iron fist, and I never failed to make enemies wherever I went."You look cheerful today, my Alpha," my beta approached me, resting an arm on the counter as her gaze swept the room."New business is always exciting, Nick." I leaned on the counter, turning to face him, a subtle smile touching my lips as I watched the surrounding crowd. " But I hate these humans.""They smell terrible," Nick commented.Being an Alpha in a world of humans requires all of us to be very careful and discreet. We had a reserve here in Estes Park, where we could just be wolves.I drove to the
Mia Miller "Come with me," the man said, guiding me through the nightclub. The atmosphere had changed since that night. The decor of the club now exude sophistication. As he opened the door to that office, my heart raced, knowing I would face the father of my child.Upon entering, I found a harsh and cold version of him. Now his jaw was more defined, muscles evident under the blue shirt and hair a little longer. I looked at his face, realizing I didn’t even know the father of my son.I began to speak, my hands trembling with every word. "He is your son."He paused for a moment, stunned. His gaze was icy, seeming not to believe it."That pup is not mine," he stated without looking at me."Why would I lie? I went years without telling you and now you think I’m lying? And why are you referring to my son as if he were an animal?" "Do you think I'm going to believe this story? Is it money you want, human?""I don't even know your last name."
Mia MillerAmong all the possible situations, I never imagined seeing my father leave our home lifeless. My mind was a mess; while my son was kidnapped, I still had to deal with the grief of my father's death.I wondered, lying there staring at the ceiling, what I had done wrong to deserve so many terrible things?I truly didn’t know.I sat on the floor of the living room, my arms wrapped around my legs, while emptiness and pain consumed my chest. The house was silent and cold, reflecting the state of my heart. My father was gone, and my son, my little Lorenzo, was in the hands of someone I didn't even know. The weight of it all was unbearable, and I didn't know what to do anymore.I began to think about all the choices I had made up to this point, questioning each one. How did I get here? How did I allow my life to fall apart like this? If I had told Ethan about Lorenzo earlier... Maybe none of this would be happening. But I didn’t know who he was. I b
Mia MillerAs I sorted through my father's belongings, my thoughts drifted to my baby. Was he being fed? Was he crying because he missed me?My body was drained of energy; I couldn’t lift myself up.As promised, the funeral expenses were all covered by Ethan. At least my father would be buried with dignity. There were hardly any people here—just Charlotte and me. We didn’t have close family.“Mia, you need to eat,” she said, holding my hand.“I’m not hungry. I just want my son back.”“If you don’t eat, you won’t have the strength to get him back. Please…”She was right. And today, the damned driver would take me to God knows where. I wondered how I could have such a sweet, gentle son with such a horrible man. He was cold and calculated, and something about him sent chills down my spine.I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. "I just hope this madness ends soon. I don’t know how much more I can take."Charlotte pulled me into a hug, and
Ethan GreenwoodI took a sip of my drink while staring intently at the photo of Mia Miller on my computer. It was a recent image, but it still captured her essence; that defiant look, mixed with a vulnerability that intrigued me. How could a mere human awaken something in me? Something I hadn’t felt in years?I wasn’t the type to get involved easily. If I did get involved with someone, it was usually with handpicked women, and always wolves. It was easier that way—no complications, no surprises. But Mia… Mia was different. From the moment I saw her, something changed. Her scent, that soft yet electrifying touch… it completely disarmed me.I knew I was crossing a dangerous line when I got involved with her. That night, I forgot everything and just let myself be carried away by desire. I believed it would be just a moment, a fleeting memory. But now, two years later, here I was, dealing with a surprise I never imagined. A child.Anger boiled in my chest. How dare she hide from me that I

Mia Miller. Ethan Greenwood’s hands were firmly placed on my waist, and we stayed silent for a short time, just staring at each other. There weren’t many words for that moment. I just wanted to give myself to him."Be mine, tonight." His blue eyes shone."You know…" I turned away from his touch. "It’s all so complicated, Ethan.""Forget all of this. Mia. It’s just you and me here, now. In this hotel, which seems like a two-star."As much as my rational side told me I shouldn’t lie down with him, my carnal side begged me to give in, at that moment. I was facing the starry Colorado sky, the radio downstairs was playing a romantic song I could barely identify.Ethan held my arms and turned me towards him. An intense kiss, yet slow, happened. And that damn soundtrack made everything feel even more intense."Ethan…" I whispered."Don’t say anything." He placed his index finger on my lips. "If we’re going to regret this tomorrow morning, then so be it."I felt like I did that night I got p
Mia MillerI approached the window, trying to get a phone signal to check on how my son was doing, but without success. There was no signal in this godforsaken place. The frustration built in my chest, making me even more anxious. Lorenzo was the only thing I could think about at that moment."I've already told you, he's fine," Ethan's voice pulled me out of my trance, his calmness contrasting with the storm inside me.He walked to the bathroom without waiting for a response, and I felt a wave of discomfort. I didn’t want to be alone with him, especially here, in such an isolated place with so many mysteries surrounding his life. That alone showed me how weak I was when it came to him, how his presence affected me in ways I didn’t want to admit. My eyes landed on the bedside table, where there was a closed bottle of wine and a solitary glass beside it. I didn’t even know where the wine was from, but I knew I needed it. My mind was overwhelmed, and I felt an urgent need to relax. Maybe
Mia Miller. My life had never been as upside down as it was now.Second by second, I checked my phone to see how Lorenzo was doing. Ethan hired a nanny and left him under the supervision of two bodyguards, or wolves, I wasn’t sure how to digest this anymore.I never imagined that working in a bar, especially Ethan's, could be so challenging. But there I was, buried in piles of paperwork, accounting, and cash flows, trying to keep my head in place while managing everything. Diplomas and experience don’t prepare anyone to deal with the kind of pressure Ethan’s gaze put on me. Always so serious, so reserved. Sometimes, I wondered if he trusted me for more than just the job.And today… well, today seemed different.“We need to adjust the supplier prices. The margins are too tight,” Ethan said, interrupting my thoughts. He was staring at the spreadsheets, his brow furrowed. “I’ll need you to come with me today to negotiate with them.”“Me?” I asked, a little surprised. “Why?”“Because you
Ethan GreenwoodThe trip back was quieter than I expected. Mia was visibly disturbed after the confrontation with Amber and the strange events from the night before. But as much as it bothered me, I had more urgent matters to take care of. Nick had mentioned something about the investigations, something that could change the game.As soon as we arrived in the city, Lorenzo ran straight into Esther's arms, and she welcomed him with a warm smile. That gave me the time I needed to take care of what truly mattered. Nick was waiting for me, as promised.“Mia,” I called as she prepared to head in another direction. “You’re coming with me.”She blinked, surprised. “Where to?”“To see the bar’s accounts. It’s time for you to start understanding how things work around here.”She hesitated but didn’t argue. She knew that when I made a decision, there was no turning back.“Okay.”As we walked together to the office, I felt that something was different about her. Mia, usually so talkative, was un
Mia MillerThe silence that followed was unbearable. Amber hesitated for a moment, but her face was burning with embarrassment and anger, though she knew she had no choice. Without saying another word, she turned and left, the door slamming behind us.The room felt heavier after she left... I took a deep breath because I didn’t want to get upset. Ethan turned to me, his expression no less severe. "Are you okay?"I wanted to scream at him, ask why he always did this—made decisions for me, put me in impossible situations, and expected me to just accept it. But instead, I just nodded. I was tired of fighting. Lorenzo was with me, and that was all that mattered at that moment."Is this going to happen often?" I asked, trying to keep calm. "People from your pack hating me just because I’m human?"He sighed and ran a hand through his hair."There will be resistance, yes. They're not used to this. But I’ll make it clear that you and Lorenzo are part of my life now. They'll have to accept it.
Mia MillerI take a deep breath, closing my eyes and imagining how everything would be if this whole mess were different.I'm in the car with the father of my child, and his sister, praying that the wolves won't want to end me just because I'm invading their territory.I never imagined myself in a situation like this. It all seemed like a fantasy."We've arrived," Ethan announces as the car stops. We're in front of a dense forest area. "Welcome to Estes Park.""Is this a reserve?" I ask, observing everything around."Yes. We've lived here, werewolves have hidden here since we settled in Colorado," Ethan replies, his voice full of conviction."And... how does no one know you exist?" My curiosity is stronger than my fear."Simple, Mia. With the right people, you can hide even the worst of secrets. We're careful. When we kill, we hide the bodies," he says seriously, freezing me for a moment."Excuse me?" I say, incredulous."Just kidding," he responds, with a cold smile as he gets out of
Mia MillerI had just placed my feet on the floor and opened my eyes. My baby, Lorenzo, was beside me, as always. He never left my side for a second."Mama," he hugged me with his little arms."Good morning, my love," I smiled, feeling that warmth in my heart that only he could awaken. Lorenzo was such a sweet child, with his big curious eyes and that smile that melted away any worry. As I stroked his soft hair, I heard a soft knock on the door. Before I could respond, the door slowly opened, revealing a tall woman with a striking presence. I knew who she was before she even introduced herself — Esther, Ethan’s sister."May I come in?" she asked with a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes.I nodded in agreement. She entered the room, her movements elegant and controlled, as if she were always aware of her posture and the impact she had on others. She stopped a few steps away from us, her eyes focused on Lorenzo, who looked at her with that innocent expression only a young child coul
I let out a long, controlled sigh as I watched Esther, my younger sister, arranging her bags in the room. Despite being siblings, there were moments when I forgot how relentless she could be, her temperament often mirroring my own."Did you have to make that scene?" I asked, crossing my arms and staring at her seriously."What scene, Ethan?" She turned around, raising an eyebrow with a hint of challenge."That thing you did in front of Mia," I replied, trying to keep my tone controlled, but unable to completely hide my irritation.Esther looked at me with that analytical gaze that always made me feel like I was under a magnifying glass. "She's human. I just found it strange, Ethan. You never brought women into this house, which used to be our parents', let alone a human."I knew she was right. This house was sacred to us, a place that carried memories of our family, and I had always kept it closed off, even to myself. Bringing Mia here, letting her into my life and the house where we
