Ethan Greenwood
The trip back was quieter than I expected. Mia was visibly disturbed after the confrontation with Amber and the strange events from the night before. But as much as it bothered me, I had more urgent matters to take care of. Nick had mentioned something about the investigations, something that could change the game.
As soon as we arrived in the city, Lorenzo ran straight into Esther's arms, and she welcomed him with a warm smile. That gave me the time I needed to take care of what truly mattered. Nick was waiting for me, as promised.
“Mia,” I called as she prepared to head in another direction. “You’re coming with me.”
She blinked, surprised. “Where to?”
“To see the bar’s accounts. It’s time for you to start understanding how things work around here.”
She hesitated but didn’t argue. She knew that when I made a decision, there was no turning back.
“Okay.”
As we walked together to the office, I felt that something was different about her. Mia, usually so talkative, was unusually quiet. I knew she was trying to process what she had seen the night before: a real wolf, flesh and blood, transforming right before her eyes. She still couldn’t fully grasp the truth, but the tension in her body told me that, soon, the questions would begin to surface.
“What’s wrong?” I asked, even though I already knew the answer.
“Nothing.” She sighed, looking away. “It’s just... that place, that wolf, and knowing my son is a part of this... all of it is scaring me.”
“Everything will work out, but you can’t run away.” I kept my tone firm. “You have a contract with me, and you’ll do as I say.”
She nodded, no further questions. But it was clear that Mia was pulling away. Her lost look revealed the growing fear inside her.
With Lorenzo in good hands, I walked to the office in the bar, where Nick was already waiting with a thick envelope in his hands. It was the information I was expecting.
“Alpha,” Nick greeted, handing me the dossier. “This is about Mia. The investigation is complete.”
I glanced quickly at Mia, who was distracted, looking around at the details of the bar. I took the envelope and went straight to the back room. Nick followed silently.
As soon as the door closed behind us, I opened the dossier. The first page made me freeze. The name there... wasn’t the man Mia knew as her father.
“What is this?” I asked, even though I already knew the answer.
Nick stayed serious. “We found out that Mia is not the biological daughter of the man who died. Her blood comes from somewhere else... from a wolf. A powerful wolf.”
My eyes quickly moved across the pages, absorbing every detail. Mia’s biological father was not an ordinary human. He was a wolf with a strong lineage, someone with deep ties in the supernatural world. Someone who likely knew about Mia’s existence but never sought her out.
“She doesn’t know anything,” Nick continued, without hesitation. “The man who raised her and her mother kept this truth from her.”
I closed the dossier with a snap, feeling the weight of this revelation. Mia wasn’t just a human accidentally caught up in my world. She belonged to it, even though she didn’t know. That complicated everything, especially because of Lorenzo.
“This changes everything,” I murmured, feeling the pressure mount.
“Alpha, what do you want to do?” Nick asked.
“For now, she doesn’t need to know anything,” I replied, controlling my tone. “She’ll find out when the time is right. Until then, this stays between us.”
Nick nodded. The weight of what I had just discovered was still settling inside me. But now I needed to deal with Mia.
I left the office and found her sitting, distracted with the bar’s accounts. Her eyes lifted to me as I approached.
“Done, sorted everything out?” She tried to sound casual, but there was a subtle tension in her voice.
“Yes,” I lied. “Everything’s under control. Now let’s take care of this.”
She looked back at the papers, but I knew her mind was elsewhere. And I couldn’t blame her. Nothing that had happened up until now had prepared her for what was coming.
The silence in the office was deafening. Mia was focused on the accounts as if her life depended on it. Maybe it did, at least the way she thought everything was happening. But the truth was, she had no idea of the gravity of the situation.
As I watched her, my mind was racing. The dossier in my hands felt like it weighed tons. The truth about Mia’s real father was a blow—not just to her, but to me too.
She’s not the daughter of the man who raised her. Those words spun in my head. What does this mean? What is she really?
Since I met Mia, I had felt something different about her. A hidden strength, something that always made me suspicious and, at the same time, intrigued. Now, with this new information, everything made sense, but at the same time, nothing did. She thought she was human, that her world was limited to debts and ordinary struggles. But the blood running through her veins said otherwise.
I looked again at the dossier, my hands gripping the paper tighter. Charlotte. That name bothered me. Mia thought Charlotte was just a friend, someone who helped her in a time of need, but it went deeper than that.
Charlotte wasn’t a random figure. She had ties to the supernatural world. Dangerous ties. Did she know the truth about Mia all along? Was she using her for some greater purpose?
“What a mess,” I muttered, almost without realizing.
Mia lifted her eyes for a moment, with that innocent expression she always carried. She didn’t know anything, but she felt that something was wrong. Her eyes studied me for a brief second, but then she went back to focusing on the numbers.
I was torn. Tell her the truth now or wait? But one thing was clear: I needed to understand everything before telling her anything. Mia was more than just a human lost in this supernatural world. She had a role to play. And I needed to be ready to protect her when the truth came to light.
As I read the dossier more closely, one thing stood out: Mia’s father was a rare wolf, with a lineage that few knew, but all feared. Powerful, ancient. If Mia’s enemies already knew this, it wouldn’t be surprising that they were trying to get close to her. She represented a valuable piece in a game I couldn’t even fully comprehend.
The idea that Mia could be used as a weapon or a bargaining chip filled me with fury.
And Charlotte? What did this woman know that Mia didn’t? Was she trying to protect her... or use her?
I sighed heavily and ran a hand over my face.
I was cornered. My connection to Mia went beyond duty. She affected me in ways I didn’t want to admit.
“I need a plan,” I murmured to myself.
I left the office and found her still sitting, going over the accounts. She looked at me casually, but there was tension in the air.
“Done, sorted everything out?” she asked.
“Yes,” I lied, keeping my expression impassive. “Everything’s under control.”
But nothing was under control. And when the truth started to emerge, there would be no turning back.
Mia Miller. My life had never been as upside down as it was now.Second by second, I checked my phone to see how Lorenzo was doing. Ethan hired a nanny and left him under the supervision of two bodyguards, or wolves, I wasn’t sure how to digest this anymore.I never imagined that working in a bar, especially Ethan's, could be so challenging. But there I was, buried in piles of paperwork, accounting, and cash flows, trying to keep my head in place while managing everything. Diplomas and experience don’t prepare anyone to deal with the kind of pressure Ethan’s gaze put on me. Always so serious, so reserved. Sometimes, I wondered if he trusted me for more than just the job.And today… well, today seemed different.“We need to adjust the supplier prices. The margins are too tight,” Ethan said, interrupting my thoughts. He was staring at the spreadsheets, his brow furrowed. “I’ll need you to come with me today to negotiate with them.”“Me?” I asked, a little surprised. “Why?”“Because you
Mia MillerI approached the window, trying to get a phone signal to check on how my son was doing, but without success. There was no signal in this godforsaken place. The frustration built in my chest, making me even more anxious. Lorenzo was the only thing I could think about at that moment."I've already told you, he's fine," Ethan's voice pulled me out of my trance, his calmness contrasting with the storm inside me.He walked to the bathroom without waiting for a response, and I felt a wave of discomfort. I didn’t want to be alone with him, especially here, in such an isolated place with so many mysteries surrounding his life. That alone showed me how weak I was when it came to him, how his presence affected me in ways I didn’t want to admit. My eyes landed on the bedside table, where there was a closed bottle of wine and a solitary glass beside it. I didn’t even know where the wine was from, but I knew I needed it. My mind was overwhelmed, and I felt an urgent need to relax. Maybe
Mia Miller. Ethan Greenwood’s hands were firmly placed on my waist, and we stayed silent for a short time, just staring at each other. There weren’t many words for that moment. I just wanted to give myself to him."Be mine, tonight." His blue eyes shone."You know…" I turned away from his touch. "It’s all so complicated, Ethan.""Forget all of this. Mia. It’s just you and me here, now. In this hotel, which seems like a two-star."As much as my rational side told me I shouldn’t lie down with him, my carnal side begged me to give in, at that moment. I was facing the starry Colorado sky, the radio downstairs was playing a romantic song I could barely identify.Ethan held my arms and turned me towards him. An intense kiss, yet slow, happened. And that damn soundtrack made everything feel even more intense."Ethan…" I whispered."Don’t say anything." He placed his index finger on my lips. "If we’re going to regret this tomorrow morning, then so be it."I felt like I did that night I got p
Mia MillerI couldn’t sleep the rest of the night. Every time I tried to relax, that message invaded my mind, bringing back the cruel reality. Ethan was investigating me. He knew more about my past than I did. The truth about my father... What else was he hiding from me?I silently moved away from the bed, being careful not to wake him. I needed a moment to breathe, to think, away from him and the weight of his secrets. The early morning was cold, and as the wind hit the window, my thoughts grew darker. How could I have been so naïve? I let myself be carried away by a moment of weakness, by the warmth of his arms, only to discover that he had been hiding something all along. The worst part? I knew there was so much more behind it."What are you doing?" he whispered, giving me a scare. "Come back to bed. I’d love to feel your butt against me." He sniffed my neck. How could he be so deceitful? But then, what else to expect from a man who is a wolf?I stood by the window, hugging my arms
Ethan Greenwood The silence between Mia and me was destroying me inside. I knew she was about to explode. Her mind must have been spinning with confusion and fear from everything she had discovered in the last few hours. When I mentioned the word "hybrid," I saw her eyes fill with tears, and the confusion was evident on her face. She still couldn’t accept what I was saying, and I didn’t blame her. It was a hard revelation to swallow. But I couldn’t hide it from her anymore. If she was one of us, she deserved to know. And now, with danger knocking at the door, I needed to protect her, even if she resisted. "You need to come to the forest," my voice finally broke the silence, perhaps harsher than I intended. "There won’t be another chance. They’re going to keep coming after you and Lorenzo. Out here, you’re vulnerable." Mia’s eyes narrowed, the stubbornness already showing in her stance. Of course, that was typical of her. Always trying to prove she could handle everything on her ow
Mia Miller The pines swayed as the wind blew, and I watched the Colorado landscape through the glass fogged by snow. Lorenzo slept peacefully in his car seat.My heart pounded in a way I couldn’t explain. The possibility of being the daughter of a werewolf haunted me. Was everything about me a lie?Why did my mother do this? Why did my father hide this and carry it with him to the grave? So many unanswered questions made my head throb.Ethan drove in silence. Between us, the air was heavy. After that night together, something had broken. He was distant, cold. Maybe it was a reflection of the fear we felt, the imminent danger. I knew he was trying to protect me, but the harshness with which he did it hurt deeply. When the car stopped in Estes Park, I realized we had arrived. The scenery was stunning, but in a way, it was unsettling. I still refused to fully believe that wolves—werewolves—lived here. How could they blend in with humans without being discovered?I got out of the car wit
Mia MillerI only had two decisions to make. The first: ignore Charlotte’s message and move on with my life. The second: go meet her to find out what she was going to reveal. And guess which one I chose?I quickly put on a jacket and checked to make sure Lorenzo was asleep. His eyes were closed, and he was almost dozing off in his crib. I couldn’t leave him alone, so the only option was to ask Ethan’s brother to look after him.I quietly walked over to where Esther was sleeping. She was reading a book, something about mystery, I think.“Mia?” She looked up, surprised by my late-night visit. “Is Lorenzo okay?”“Hi Esther, sorry to bother you. But could you watch Lorenzo for just an hour? An old friend I haven’t seen in a long time is here, and I’d really like to see her.”“Of course, it will be a pleasure to take care of my nephew, Mia. Don’t hesitate to ask.”I smiled in response. Esther was so kind, so different from her brother. I often wondered how two people so different could com
Ethan GreenwoodI used to believe that everything I knew about Mia was nothing compared to who she truly was. As an Alpha, it was my duty to protect my people, especially with a child involved in all of this.Nick entered the bar with an expression I didn’t like to see. Something heavy was about to be said, I could feel it. I slid the whiskey glass across the table and stared at him, waiting for him to speak.“Sir... the investigation has given us some answers, but nothing that will make us feel more at ease,” Nick said, looking around as if searching for eyes or ears that could be listening. The tension between us grew.“Just say it, Nick. What did you find?” My voice was firm, but anxiety was building up inside me.Nick took a deep breath before continuing. “Mia’s father... he’s an Alpha. Not just any pack, but from the Northern Packs.” He paused, probably waiting for a reaction, but I just kept staring at him, expecting him to get straight to the point.“Get to the point, Nick. Wha
Mia MillerI couldn’t close my eyes all night. Every time I felt like I might finally fall asleep, Lorenzo came to my mind. When the sun rose, my stomach turned. I hadn’t been able to eat anything since that damned kidnapping.A knock at the door interrupted my thoughts.“Miss Mia,” the middle-aged woman entered the room with a breakfast tray. “Alpha Darius asked me to bring this to you.”“I don’t want to eat, thank you.”“Miss, those are your father’s orders. Please, eat something,” she said, looking at me.I stared at her. Her eyes seemed sincere. And if I wanted to escape this place, I had to eat. I needed to be strong.“Thank you.”“Claire,” she said with a smile. “That’s my name. If you need anything, just call me.”She seemed like a good person.I devoured the breakfast tray. I was starving. Then I heard footsteps coming toward the room I was in.It was him. The Alpha of Silverclaw. Darius—my biological father. He was tall, with brown hair and tanned skin. His body was ripped, l
Mia MillerMy eyes are blindfolded. I can’t see anything, no trace of where I might be. I only know that I am in a moving car, and I want to get out of here. I try to scream, but I feel weak; he sprayed something inside the car as soon as I got in. I clasp my hands together and ask... if the Moon Goddess, who they always talk about in the pack, really exists, to save me from this and take me back to Lorenzo. The car stopped abruptly. I felt the weight of the silence around me, except for the sound of my rapid heartbeat. Still with my eyes covered, fear coursed through my veins like poison. The doors opened, and I immediately felt rough hands pulling me out, without any gentleness.“Let me go!” I tried to scream, but my voice came out weak. The substance he used in the car still made me dizzy, my body felt slow and heavy. I was dragged over what seemed to be dirt ground. I could hear the rustling of leaves beneath my feet, the wind shaking the trees. Was it a forest? The scent of wolves
Mia MillerThat kiss awakened feelings in me that I thought had died. I knew it was forbidden, I knew he wasn't right for me. That everything was a mistake. But they always told me that the forbidden was more enticing. And even though I knew the Alpha wasn't the person who would make me happy, I gave myself completely. His touches… his warm mouth on mine. Skin on skin. I didn’t know how to react to all of it. On that terrace, naked, looking at the moonlight, I couldn’t think of anything bad. Only the present moment. His fingers were sliding down my body, caressing my waist. I felt something different, like a primitive instinct I didn’t even know existed was taking over me. I was a wolf. And it was hard to accept that. I was in denial. But when I smelled his scent, I forgot everything. While we looked at the starry sky, I broke the silence.“What do you feel for me?” I let the question slip out.“What kind of question is that now?” He smiled faintly.“Just answer, Ethan.”He stood up,
Ethan Greenwood. I hated the feeling of being pressured. Alphas were made to give orders, command, and control their pack, not be pressured.I was in one of the offices inherited from my father. We were respected throughout the city because my father had many businesses here, and all the wolves, humans, whoever they were, respected the Greenwood name. This situation would never have happened with my father. The feared Alpha. For a long time, I thought I was like him. But if I had to choose between marrying a she-wolf I couldn’t stand and protecting my son, I would choose the latter."Alpha." Nick entered the office with the phone in hand."What is it?" I stared at him."The leader of the pack wants to talk to you, Ethan."Oh no... What does that son of a bitch want?I grabbed the phone from the beta’s hands quickly. I was ready to tell him a few choice words."What do you want?" I said through gritted teeth."Is that how you talk to old friends, Alpha Greenwood?""We’re not friends.
Mia Miller "So I have to know how to dodge several wolves in a possible attack?" I ask, leaning toward Ethan."If you want to stay alive, yes," he whispers. The training with Ethan continued. I had been trying to avoid him, but it was impossible. He was the father of my child, and we lived in the same environment. As much as I wanted to avoid him with all my heart, I couldn’t.We paused the training to catch our breath. I glanced at him from the corner of my eye. His sweaty body revealed his perfectly toned abs, and his hair was almost wet with sweat. It was hard to look at Ethan Greenwood without wanting him."When can I go back to the city?" I asked, breaking the silence between us."As soon as it’s safe," he said in monosyllabic words."The people... Well, the wolves here don’t like me, Ethan. And they make that pretty clear. And then there’s Amber.""You care too much about others, Mia. What matters is that I’m the Alpha, and I’m in charge here. You’re the mother of my firstborn.
Mia MillerI think more painful than loving someone and having it go wrong is liking someone and knowing, deep down, that it will never work. This was the suffocating feeling that surrounded me every time I looked at Ethan. He was in all my thoughts, every second of my day. Ethan was the first thought when I woke up, and the last when my head touched the pillow at night. Even though everything in me screamed to stay away, to protect myself from a feeling with no future, I couldn’t. He was a jerk, selfish, and yet, irresistibly a part of me.How did I let this happen? At first, it was supposed to be just one night. A damn night. Nothing more. I went into his arms seeking comfort, trying to escape the pain caused by Collin’s betrayal. But somehow, everything turned into this—a tangle of complicated emotions, a confusion of desires and resentments. Now, I was trapped, connected to him in a way I could never undo.My gaze shifted to Lorenzo, playfully messing with his toys on the floor. T
Ethan GreenwoodThe sun was rising on the horizon, its soft rays filtering through the trees that surrounded our territory. The cold air brought a sense of calm, a peace I rarely felt lately. Mia and Lorenzo were safe here, but the tranquility felt more like an illusion, a prelude to something dark that was to come. The training with Mia went better than I expected. She was strong; we just needed to refine her skills. As I watched the pack training in the distance, I felt my phone vibrate in the pocket of my jacket. The number was from Nick, always pragmatic and direct. I answered on the second ring, already feeling the weight of concern."Alpha," his voice was graver than usual, "we need to talk. Now. I’ll come to you."An alert ran through my body. "What happened?" I asked, feeling the tension rise."Talk on the phone, Beta, I don't have time," Nick paused, which only heightened my anxiety."We received a message from the Blackthorn pack. They’re moving against us."My body immediat
Mia MillerMy body was completely tense. I had never practiced any kind of training; I considered myself weak. The clearing in front of us seemed serene, as if waiting for something to happen. I, however, was far from feeling calm. Ethan had spoken about "training" as if it were simple, but the truth was, I could hardly imagine taking the first step. What did he expect from me?"You'll have to be patient, Mia. The process of transformation doesn't happen overnight. It takes time for your body and mind to accept your nature," he said, as if he could read my thoughts.I crossed my arms, feeling the tension rise in my shoulders. "So, what exactly do you want me to do? Just... transform? Like it’s that easy?"Ethan looked at me seriously, his blue eyes sparkling. "No one said it would be easy. But the more you resist, the harder it will be. You need to start accepting who you really are, and that means awakening the wolf inside you."Those words echoed in my mind. Accept who I really am.
Mia MillerHave you ever felt out of place, as if everything you knew about yourself was a lie? That feeling of urgency in your chest, wanting to change everything happening around you, but you couldn’t, because it was real… That’s exactly how I felt. It’s strange how, in the blink of an eye, your life can go from normal to a whirlwind."Get up, Mia," I heard, as the light flooded my eyes. I looked to the side and saw Ethan’s figure. Great. I never had peace."What’s up?" I mumbled. "It must still be early." He had slept here, on the couch, of course, after our argument last night."I’m taking you to our training grounds.""Training?" I raised an eyebrow. "Do wolves train?""Obviously. We need to get stronger and improve our skills whenever we can."I looked around. Lorenzo was still asleep."Why did you wake me up?""I wanted to kiss you. Will you let me?" He said, making me widen my eyes.I almost fell over at the sound of his voice saying those words."Just kidding, human. Get read
