Mia Miller

My hands were trembling as I observed the creature in front of me. A large gray wolf, its eyes staring at me as if it were about to devour me at any moment, and I breathed slowly, afraid that even the smallest movement would end my life. I saw it... I knew that it was Ethan, but at the same time, it seemed like it wasn’t, and everything was confusing.

My breathing was heavy, every breath I took felt like a monumental effort. I didn’t know whether I should run, scream, or just curl up on the ground and wait for it to end. I didn’t know if Ethan had control over this form, or if at any moment he could attack me without thinking twice. But one thing was certain: I was caught in a much bigger problem than I could have ever imagined.

“What are you… Ethan?” My voice came out as a whisper, barely audible, as I tried to understand what was happening. How had I ended up involved in something so surreal? How was any of this real?

The wolf took a step forward, and my heart stopped for a moment. I didn’t know if I was about to die or if he was trying to get closer to show me that it was still him. What if he lost control? What if I became the next victim of something I didn’t even understand?

But, to my surprise, he sat down, his eyes still fixed on me, but now calmer, almost as if he were waiting for me to process what I was seeing. It was as if he were trying to reassure me, but all I felt was a deep, paralyzing fear.

“Ethan…” My voice faltered again, and I took a step back. “What do I do with this? How can I understand what’s happening? You’re a wolf… a… a monster…”

The wolf lowered his head for a moment, and then, before my eyes, he started to change again. Bones cracked, muscles contracted, and in a matter of seconds, he was back to his human form. Ethan, now kneeling in front of me, was breathing heavily, sweat covering his skin.

What worried me most was knowing that Lorenzo carried in his blood the lineage of werewolves.

Anyone in my place would be completely skeptical and terrified.

“I’m not a monster, Mia,” he said, his voice rough and tired. “I’m an Alpha. And Lorenzo is my son… Our son. I need to protect him, but for that, you needed to understand what you’re involved in.”

I couldn’t respond. My thoughts were in turmoil, and all I could think was that nothing, absolutely nothing, would ever be normal again.

"I… I need time to process all of this," I said, running towards the house.

How was it possible that my son, our son, was tied to this unknown and terrifying world?

When I reached my room, I closed the door behind me and leaned against it, trying to catch my breath. But the air felt heavy, dense with the questions swirling in my mind. My thoughts were in turmoil, but at the same time, I felt numb. There were no tears, no screams. Just a confusing emptiness that dominated everything.

Why did my fate cross with Ethan’s? I was human, right? How was it possible that I had gotten pregnant by a wolf? These questions spun around in my mind, unanswered.

The only thing that gave me any relief was the fact that Lorenzo was back, safe. At least that. But how could I deal with all of this? How could I be the mother of a child who was half wolf, half human? What kind of life could I give him? How could I protect him from a world I didn’t even understand?

I tried to push those thoughts away as I headed to the bathroom. Lorenzo was still asleep, but he needed a bath. I asked the maid for clean towels, and as usual, she responded with few words. She didn’t seem surprised by what was happening, and that only increased my sense of displacement.

I began preparing the bath for Lorenzo, trying to focus on something simple, something I could control. When I finished, I took him out of bed and led him to the bathroom. He was confused, still half asleep, but his presence brought me some comfort, an anchor in the midst of the emotional storm.

As I bathed him, I heard footsteps behind me. I looked up and saw Ethan standing at the door, his eyes watching me with an intensity that froze me for a moment.

“I know you’re confused,” he said, his voice low and grave. “But be aware of our agreements.”

I didn’t know how to respond. He was the cause of my confusion, but at the same time, the only person who could give me the answers I desperately needed.

Ethan approached slowly, and for some reason, I didn’t feel afraid of him.

“Let me bathe him,” he said.

“You don’t need to…” I murmured.

“He’s my son, human!” he growled. “Don’t steal from me anymore. It’s bad enough that you’ve been hiding that I have a son.”

I just shut up and consented. Ethan was right. I didn’t have that right.

I stopped in front of the door, watching him bathe Lorenzo. He seemed awkward, but at the same time, he showed care.

After the bath, I wrapped that fragile being in the towel and placed him back in bed. He was exhausted.

Ethan watched my every move, his piercing eyes not missing a thing. I left the room and gently closed the door, trying not to wake Lorenzo. I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep anytime soon with those images haunting my mind.

“Thank you,” I whispered, not daring to look at him directly. “For bringing my son back safely.”

“I did no more than my duty as an Alpha,” he replied, his tone distant, without looking away.

Shaking, I took a step toward him. Despite the fear, there was something about Ethan that still seemed human to me.

“You… you don’t feel love for anyone? You’re not capable of feeling anything?” I asked, my voice laden with uncertainty and anguish.

Ethan finally looked at me, his intense eyes fixed on mine.

“I don’t know if I’m capable of feeling love, Mia,” he said, stepping closer until my body was pressed against the wall. “But what I know… is that since the day I saw you again, the desire I feel for you is uncontrollable. All I can think about is reliving that night, tearing every piece of your clothing off.”

His voice was deep, resonating like a rough whisper, filled with almost palpable tension. I could feel the heat of his body close to mine, and my heart began to race faster. The intensity of his words, the proximity of his body, it all left me breathless.

There was something primitive about Ethan, something I couldn’t resist, even though my body was tense with fear and confusion. And the worst of it was that I also wanted him, even knowing it was completely wrong.

I also wanted to be his.

Ethan GreenwoodIt was hard to explain the sensations Mia made me feel. With her pressed against the wall, so close that I could feel the heat of her skin, my hands firmly placed beside her head, creating an impenetrable barrier. Our breaths were uneven, interrupted by the desire that hung in the air around us. I watched her, every detail of her expression, from the fear in her eyes to the slight tremble of her lips. There was something about her that awakened a primal need in me, something I had never felt with anyone else. She was different, and that irritated me as much as it attracted me.The smell of this human was intriguing. My fingers clenched against the wall beside her head, fighting against the impulse to touch her. I felt torn between the part of me that wanted to protect her and the part that wanted to claim her for myself, without thinking of the consequences. An Alpha doesn’t let himself be carried away by feelings, especially by a human. But there was something in Mia

Mia MillerI wake up amid the disheveled sheets, feeling the warm and firm weight of Ethan’s hand resting on my waist. A shiver runs down my spine as I realize the depth of what we just did. I shouldn’t be here, and certainly not with him.Carefully, I remove his hand from my waist, moving slowly to avoid waking him. Every movement is a struggle between the desire to stay and the need to leave. My body still feels the heat of his touch, and the memory of the previous night is etched in my skin. But reality hits me hard; I was weak, and I gave in to temptation.Silently, I search for my clothes scattered across the floor. I dress carefully, feeling the texture of the fabrics against my skin, a sensation that brings me back to reality. Each piece is a reminder that I need to pull away, return to what is right, to what is safe.As I dress, my eyes roam Ethan’s room. It’s a dark, elegant space, reflecting perfectly the enigmatic man he is. The decor is minimalist but tasteful, with heavy

I let out a long, controlled sigh as I watched Esther, my younger sister, arranging her bags in the room. Despite being siblings, there were moments when I forgot how relentless she could be, her temperament often mirroring my own."Did you have to make that scene?" I asked, crossing my arms and staring at her seriously."What scene, Ethan?" She turned around, raising an eyebrow with a hint of challenge."That thing you did in front of Mia," I replied, trying to keep my tone controlled, but unable to completely hide my irritation.Esther looked at me with that analytical gaze that always made me feel like I was under a magnifying glass. "She's human. I just found it strange, Ethan. You never brought women into this house, which used to be our parents', let alone a human."I knew she was right. This house was sacred to us, a place that carried memories of our family, and I had always kept it closed off, even to myself. Bringing Mia here, letting her into my life and the house where we

Mia MillerI had just placed my feet on the floor and opened my eyes. My baby, Lorenzo, was beside me, as always. He never left my side for a second."Mama," he hugged me with his little arms."Good morning, my love," I smiled, feeling that warmth in my heart that only he could awaken. Lorenzo was such a sweet child, with his big curious eyes and that smile that melted away any worry. As I stroked his soft hair, I heard a soft knock on the door. Before I could respond, the door slowly opened, revealing a tall woman with a striking presence. I knew who she was before she even introduced herself — Esther, Ethan’s sister."May I come in?" she asked with a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes.I nodded in agreement. She entered the room, her movements elegant and controlled, as if she were always aware of her posture and the impact she had on others. Mia MillerI take a deep breath, closing my eyes and imagining how everything would be if this whole mess were different.I'm in the car with the father of my child, and his sister, praying that the wolves won't want to end me just because I'm invading their territory.I never imagined myself in a situation like this. It all seemed like a fantasy."We've arrived," Ethan announces as the car stops. We're in front of a dense forest area. "Welcome to Estes Park.""Is this a reserve?" I ask, observing everything around."Yes. We've lived here, werewolves have hidden here since we settled in Colorado," Ethan replies, his voice full of conviction."And... how does no one know you exist?" My curiosity is stronger than my fear."Simple, Mia. With the right people, you can hide even the worst of secrets. We're careful. When we kill, we hide the bodies," he says seriously, freezing me for a moment."Excuse me?" I say, incredulous."Just kidding," he responds, with a cold smile as he gets out of

Mia MillerThe silence that followed was unbearable. Amber hesitated for a moment, but her face was burning with embarrassment and anger, though she knew she had no choice. Without saying another word, she turned and left, the door slamming behind us.The room felt heavier after she left... I took a deep breath because I didn’t want to get upset. Ethan turned to me, his expression no less severe. "Are you okay?"I wanted to scream at him, ask why he always did this—made decisions for me, put me in impossible situations, and expected me to just accept it. But instead, I just nodded. I was tired of fighting. Lorenzo was with me, and that was all that mattered at that moment."Is this going to happen often?" I asked, trying to keep calm. "People from your pack hating me just because I’m human?"He sighed and ran a hand through his hair."There will be resistance, yes. They're not used to this. But I’ll make it clear that you and Lorenzo are part of my life now. They'll have to accept it.

Ethan GreenwoodThe trip back was quieter than I expected. Mia was visibly disturbed after the confrontation with Amber and the strange events from the night before. But as much as it bothered me, I had more urgent matters to take care of. Nick had mentioned something about the investigations, something that could change the game.As soon as we arrived in the city, Lorenzo ran straight into Esther's arms, and she welcomed him with a warm smile. That gave me the time I needed to take care of what truly mattered. Nick was waiting for me, as promised.“Mia,” I called as she prepared to head in another direction. “You’re coming with me.”She blinked, surprised. “Where to?”“To see the bar’s accounts. It’s time for you to start understanding how things work around here.”She hesitated but didn’t argue. She knew that when I made a decision, there was no turning back.“Okay.”As we walked together to the office, I felt that something was different about her. Mia, usually so talkative, was un

Ethan hired a nanny and left him under the supervision of two bodyguards, or wolves, I wasn’t sure how to digest this anymore.I never imagined that working in a bar, especially Ethan's, could be so challenging. But there I was, buried in piles of paperwork, accounting, and cash flows, trying to keep my head in place while managing everything. Diplomas and experience don’t prepare anyone to deal with the kind of pressure Ethan’s gaze put on me. Always so serious, so reserved. Sometimes, I wondered if he trusted me for more than just the job.And today… well, today seemed different.“We need to adjust the supplier prices. The margins are too tight,” Ethan said, interrupting my thoughts. He was staring at the spreadsheets, his brow furrowed. “I’ll need you to come with me today to negotiate with them.”“Me?” I asked, a little surprised. “Why?”“Because you

I try to scream, but I feel weak; he sprayed something inside the car as soon as I got in. I clasp my hands together and ask... if the Moon Goddess, who they always talk about in the pack, really exists, to save me from this and take me back to Lorenzo. The car stopped abruptly. I felt the weight of the silence around me, except for the sound of my rapid heartbeat. Still with my eyes covered, fear coursed through my veins like poison. The doors opened, and I immediately felt rough hands pulling me out, without any gentleness.“Let me go!” I tried to scream, but my voice came out weak. The substance he used in the car still made me dizzy, my body felt slow and heavy. I was dragged over what seemed to be dirt ground. Ethan Greenwood. I hated the feeling of being pressured. Alphas were made to give orders, command, and control their pack, not be pressured.I was in one of the offices inherited from my father. We were respected throughout the city because my father had many businesses here, and all the wolves, humans, whoever they were, respected the Greenwood name. This situation would never have happened with my father. The feared Alpha. For a long time, I thought I was like him. As much as I wanted to avoid him with all my heart, I couldn’t.We paused the training to catch our breath. I glanced at him from the corner of my eye. His sweaty body revealed his perfectly toned abs, and his hair was almost wet with sweat. It was hard to look at Ethan Greenwood without wanting him."When can I go back to the city?" Mia MillerI think more painful than loving someone and having it go wrong is liking someone and knowing, deep down, that it will never work. This was the suffocating feeling that surrounded me every time I looked at Ethan. He was in all my thoughts, every second of my day. Ethan was the first thought when I woke up, and the last when my head touched the pillow at night. Even though everything in me screamed to stay away, to protect myself from a feeling with no future, I couldn’t. He was a jerk, selfish, and yet, irresistibly a part of me.How did I let this happen? At first, it was supposed to be just one night. A damn night. Nothing more. I went into his arms seeking comfort, trying to escape the pain caused by Collin’s betrayal. But somehow, everything turned into this—a tangle of complicated emotions, a confusion of desires and resentments. Mia and Lorenzo were safe here, but the tranquility felt more like an illusion, a prelude to something dark that was to come. The training with Mia went better than I expected. She was strong; we just needed to refine her skills. As I watched the pack training in the distance, I felt my phone vibrate in the pocket of my jacket. The number was from Nick, always pragmatic and direct. I answered on the second ring, already feeling the weight of concern."Alpha," his voice was graver than usual, "we need to talk. Now. I, however, was far from feeling calm. Ethan had spoken about "training" as if it were simple, but the truth was, I could hardly imagine taking the first step. What did he expect from me?"You'll have to be patient, Mia. The process of transformation doesn't happen overnight. It takes time for your body and mind to accept your nature," he said, as if he could read my thoughts.I crossed my arms, feeling the tension rise in my shoulders. "So, what exactly do you want me to do? Just... transform? Like it’s that easy?"Ethan looked at me seriously, his blue eyes sparkling. "No one said it would be easy.
