Corey's POV.
It's been weeks since the incident with the stranger at the pub. I cashed out all my savings and paid for a crappy apartment that one of my friends had managed to help me find. I spent the rest of my days searching for a job, I needed to get back on my feet.True to his words, Ryan called off the wedding and after I snuck out of the stranger's bed, I returned to find my things on the front porch and he had changed the locks. I moved out quietly, I didn't want to embarrass myself further. So for the past few days, I had been carrying about the scar from that day, putting on a smile as if nothing had happened but deep down I was burning with rage and deep pain from the scar of my boyfriend and best friend about to get wedded.I felt sad that the future I had imagined for myself had been shattered in an instant. I didn't know what the future held for me anymore, but I knew that I would never let anyone take advantage of me again. So I stuck to myself, avoiding men and avoiding friends. For two days now, I haven't been able to go out to search for jobs, I just didn't feel well so I stayed indoors searching the internet for anything that I could find. Natasha, my friend from work, decided to check up on me. She was the one that helped me get the apartment and still hung out with me even when I got fired although I tried my best to keep her at arm's length and to prevent her from thinking we were already close friends, what my best friend and Ryan did to me is still very fresh in my memory so I am not ready to trust anyone just yet.My doorbell rang and I dragged myself out of bed to answer it, I found Natasha at the door holding up a box of pizza. I left the door open for her and returned inside, she slammed it shut and followed me."Jeez Corey, you look terrible." She cried out, dropping the pizza box on the center table as she rushed over to place her hand on my forehead, feeling for my temperature."Since when did you become a doctor?" I hissed, slapping her hand away jovially."Since now!" She replied with a mock grin. "Now stay still." Her hand went back to my forehead, she shrank back immediately as if she had just touched fire or something hot. "You should see a doctor, your body's temperature is high.""I thought you were one?" I raised an eyebrow at her but she didn't laugh, she just stared back at me with a serious expression. "Alright! Alright! I would take some meds." I said, sinking deeper into the couch in defeat."You shouldn't be taking meds by yourself." Her brows creased with worry."So what would you have me do?" I threw my hands up, exasperated."Let's go to the hospital." She suggested with a smile."Hell No!" I protested immediately."Oh come on! It would be nice for you to walk around for a bit." She said, sounding very convincing. At the end of the argument, she had forced me to put on some clothes and dragged me out of the apartment building. At the hospital, after talking to the doctor, he called in a nurse who took some samples that they could use to run some tests and they told us to wait. Natasha and I waited in the lobby for what felt like hours, she bought some hotdogs from the hotdog stand outside. We ate and played around for a while until the nurse returned and led us to the doctor's office."Please sit." The doctor said, ushering us into the available chairs in front of him. Natasha and I sat down, I didn't like the look on his face one bit."Due to the results in front of me, we have concluded that there is nothing wrong with you so we decided to run some other tests that we thought would have some news for us and now the results are out..." I shifted uncomfortably in my seat, I felt like he had some bad news for me. The doctor paused for a while and continued, "Miss Corey, with the results in my hands, I am pleased to inform you that you're three weeks pregnant.""What!" Natasha and I cried out in unison, both surprised. The doctor handed a brown envelope to Natasha who stretched out her hand and took it robotically."What... What are you talking about?" I stammered as I blinked my eyes rapidly at the doctor."I think you're the best person to answer that question." He winked at me but I couldn't understand what he was saying, did he just say that I am pregnant? It suddenly felt like the room was spinning, a loud screeching noise erupted in my head."Corey! Corey!" Natasha called out, shaking me out of my thoughts. "We should leave now." She said, I looked up at the doctor who was staring at me as if I would faint any minute. Natasha grabbed my hand and lifted me, we didn't say anything until we were standing outside."Pregnant! Corey, you're pregnant!" She whispered softly as if she was still struggling to believe it. "Who is the father?" She asked, it was at that moment that my mind zoomed off, it couldn't be for Ryan, it's been more than three weeks since we last had sex. My eyes widened in shock,"The stranger!" I cried out as goosebumps sprang up all over my body."What? What did you just say?" Natasha asked, looking at my face confused.I looked at her but couldn't bring myself to say the words, I didn't know how to explain. I pulled my hand free from her grasp and hurried towards the car,"Hey! Where are you going?" Natasha called after me but I wasn't listening.Kai's POVDays passed by as everything went on normally. I made sure that Tracey never felt the bitter pang of her barrenness even though she allowed it to overwhelm her sometimes; just as it was happening now. I looked over my shoulder, taking my eyes off the book I was reading to watch her attractive face. It was one thing I could never get tired of doing; watching her face. "What's the matter, Tracey? You've been quiet since morning." I asked, concern etching all over my face. "The usual. I feel so bad for not being able to give you an heir. I don't know what I and the pack will do if anything happens to you. With all our enemies threatening war, it would be heartless of me to deprive you of a successor." She quivered as I jerked up to my feet. I knew my Luna, if she said any more she would begin to bawl and I wasn't sure my heart could take it. "Don't talk like that, Honey. I know it's taking time and we badly need an heir, but I love you and I'm sure the moon goddess would g
Corey's POVYou are pregnant. The doctor's words kept resounding in my ears. How could I have been so dumb? I thought. I kept blaming myself as I knew that there was only one person responsible for the pregnancy. There was no way I could locate him because I hadn't seen him since that day and it felt like he disappeared into thin air. I strolled towards the counter in search of a strong drink that could knock me out. I knew that it was wrong to drink while carrying a child, but I wasn't even sure I wanted the child yet. I neither had a job nor a man, so it would be a herculean task to raise whatever was growing in my belly. My eyes caught the sight of a Stroh 160 rum in the wine cellar. I snatched it immediately and poured it into the glass cup on the counter. "Maybe I should kill myself." I drawled, taking a huge swig from the cup. Natasha had escorted me home and she promised to be back the next morning. Though she was doing her best to show her support and I wanted someone ar
CoreyI shook my head, "I'm sorry to disappoint you Natasha, but I won't look for him. I'll just train this child by myself." "You're impossible, Corey," Natasha replied exasperatedly, dropping her hand towel on the center table. Obviously, she wanted to talk sense into me, but I doubted anyone could do that. "Do you know that if you don't reach out to him now you'll be rubbing both father and child their privilege?" She asked and I stared at her. "What do you mean by that? What would I be robbing them of?" "The opportunity for the father to know that he has a son or daughter and for the child to know that he has a father. They won't forgive you if they find out what you did. Besides, you don't have any solid reason for that." She paused and propped her arm against her chin. "Gosh! You're so impossible." I palmed my forehead as I realized that there was truth in what she said. The last thing I wanted was for my future child to hate me. Initially, I didn't think I wanted to keep th
Kai's POV "The banquet will go well though I miss you very much." I cooed into the phone while my Luna giggled. She was away from me while we hosted a banquet and I had to admit that it was very tasking. I was competent and capable of hosting a large banquet with my pack members and other associates as my guests, but there were some things I didn't like to do alone; this was a part of it. I'll be back soon. Whatever I'm here for will benefit the both of us, so just do your best. I love you. My lips stretched into a smile as I declared my undying love for her over the phone and ended the call. Standing before my wall mirror, I straightened the collar of my black tuxedo, remembering how Tracey would have been so eager to do it. Everything was in place, I observed. So I snatched my car keys and headed for the event center. No doubt, the party will be carried by the media as usual. If only they knew that half of the guests were not humans, we would have been banished or placed under
Corey's POV "Girl, you look good.." Natasha said for the umpteenth time as I stared at my reflection in the mirror. I nodded my head in agreement as I never thought that I could look so beautiful. Natasha helped with my makeup and dress. Till this moment, I couldn't remember the last time I was glammed up. Parties weren't my thing apart from when I felt like having fun at the club with my friend and ex. My outing had a mission and I hoped that it would be successful. Even If it didn't, I had a certificate that could get me a job. All I needed was time to search for one. "Thank you, Natasha. You really went all the way to make me look beautiful. Ryan would give anything to have me looking so attractive tonight if he sees me." I chirped, playing with my hair as I imagined how he would react to my dress. Natasha had more slutty dresses than I did. I preferred looking modest in my appearance so revealing outfits didn't appeal to me, but it didn't stop me from putting on the dress she
Corey's POV Natasha's incessant questions were beginning to annoy me. "Can we just leave? I'll explain everything when I get home." I demanded and she kept mute, walking behind me quietly. For someone who was on heels, I walked very fast, eager to leave the premises and stay away from the stranger. Why couldn't he accept what I'd told him? There was no need for me to wait for him after he had berated me. "Slow down, Corey. Don't forget that you are pregnant and the child in your womb doesn't need to be stressed." Natasha chided me and I scoffed, setting myself at ease in the backseat. I couldn't drive and there was no way Natasha would allow me to or I'd end up killing the both of us. "I'm trying to be calm, Nats." I shortened her name, liking how short and precise her name rolled out from my lips. "Nats? I like it though." She chuckled, while I eyed her from the corner of my eye. "But what happened with him? You were so eager to meet with him before you left the house, why has t
Kai's POV As I left her house, I felt a deep feeling of satisfaction with how I dealt with the issue. My ability to think quickly was one of the reasons my pack respected me and honoured me. Being an Alpha was tasking and I wouldn't lead them successfully if I didn't watch my father deal with several issues. Those learning periods were the times I detested as I didn't have enough time to play around and have fun with my playmates. Everything paid off, and I owed whatever I achieved to my father majorly. My phone rang and I smiled when I realised who the caller was. Tracey and I hadn't spoken since the night before. Till now, I wasn't able to tell her about the woman who claimed to be pregnant for me. Suspense claimed a greater part of my mind as I wondered who the child would belong to. I wanted the child to be mine even though it would hurt Tracey if she eventually found out, but the desire to have a successor had overridden my sense of judgement. I stared at my phone screen, s
Corey's POV I sat down on the couch to ponder on what Kai had said. His proposal was based on logic and he had more to lose than me. If he took me in and the child turned out to be for my ex, he'd have spent a lot of money taking care of the both of us. My concern was what would happen if the child wasn't his. If I was to live under his care, it meant joblessness and dependency on him. I hated to be in both states but there was no feasible option yet. I needed to take a walk and have a breath of fresh air, then I remembered that I still had some cleaning to do. I couldn't let anyone find out how unkempt my house was again so I began to clean. It was stressful cleaning the rugs and furniture but determination was one thing that was never missing in my life. After the house became sparkling, I smiled in fulfilment. My stomach grumbled, reminding me that I hadn't eaten any solid food. There was a little human growing in me that I had to feed so I quickly had my bath and rushed out o
Corey's POV My body still spiked with pleasure when I remembered how Kai loved my body last night. Our lovemaking was more intense than our first night at the club and I wouldn't be surprised if I got pregnant again. I was a bit subdued as we went on several rounds without getting tired and this morning he informed me that I would be crowned as his Luna, the same position that belonged to Tracey. I didn't know what it entailed to be a Luna or the Alpha queen but I was sure that with Kai's guidance, I'd do well. He returned to the bedroom with Blake in his arms. He was smiling and imitating Blake's barfs. My heart swelled with love and joy at the sight as everything still felt like a dream. I'd been denying myself of this for a long time but thanks to the moon goddess and our loved ones we both came to our senses. "What got you thinking?" He enquired and sank on the bed, causing it to dip at his weight. "I'm just realising how blessed I am to have the people I love so much a
Kai's POV Banners were placed at the town's gate which made my smile broader. It had a picture of Corey and me which was quite surprising because I didn't tell him that we were back together, then I remembered that our minds were linked so he could tell from my joyful emotions. "This is so nice. It seems like your people have missed you a lot." Corey beamed with a smile and I noticed that she glowed differently. I could say the same for myself as I felt very hungry after a long time and I also wanted to bury myself inside of her. I kept dreaming about this day since she left and everything was happening just as I imagined. "I never expected such a reception, they must have missed you so much." Corey assumed and I nodded in agreement. Ever since I assumed the position of the Alpha of the Dark Moon pack, the people had grown to love me because of how well I cared for them. So they showed me respect in return and obeyed the laws of the land. "I feel like eating you up right no
Kai's POV I was done arranging my bags but it felt so wrong returning to the pack without her. My eyes darted to the clock fixed on the wall for the umpteenth time, hoping that she would be here with me. She won't come. I wanted to banish the thought but then I realized that she wouldn't come, after all, she sent me out of her house the last time and hadn't called me till now. I wasn't sure I could move on yet but I had to return to my pack and immerse myself with royal duties. I picked up my phone and dialed Callan's phone. He picked up almost immediately with a cheerful voice and greeted me. "I'll be returning today," I informed him and silence followed. "Did you find her?" He asked, his voice less cheerful. "I have found her but she doesn't want me anymore and I won't force her to do something that is against her will," I said with a shrug though my heart was tearing into pieces. He sighed, understanding my pain. "I don't know why I feel this way, Alpha, but I belie
Corey's POV The cops dragged Will out of the building and the aggressive and lustful expression that masked his face was exchanged with terror. I bet he didn't know what was coming his way, the same way I didn't know that he had other plans for me when he asked me to come over. One of the cops that ran in first strolled towards me, his shoulder hung in the air confidently. He had a chiseled jaw with lean cheeks and a very attractive nose. His physique was alluring and I wondered why he wasn't a model. But then it was different strokes for different folks. "How are you?" He asked with a concerned voice. "I'm shaken but I'll be fine once I return to the comfort of my home," I replied, wrapping my blouse around my chest. He flashed a comforting smile at me. "He'll be interrogated and charged to court so that he can be tried. We'll make sure to carry you along while working on the case. Do well to take care of yourself." He said, patted my shoulder, and turned around to leave
Corey's POV "Thank you, Will. How do you feel now?" I asked, making sure I hid every trace of nervousness in my voice as I could sense that something was off. "Actually, I feel better now that you are here." He replied with a sardonic smile that caused my hair to rise. Apparently, he wasn't sick and he didn't know any other way to bring me to his house other than faking that he was sick. "That's really good to know, Will." I smiled, fiddling with my fingers. "So do you want me to drive you to the hospital right now?" I questioned, hoping that he would give me a positive response. He chuckled then dipped his hands in his pocket. "Not yet darling, why don't you make yourself comfortable while I get you a drink?" He offered. "That would be nice, but I need to use the toilet." I lied. He gazed at me for a while then shrugged. "The toilet is at the end of the hallway by your right." He directed me and I quickly turned around, forcing myself to feel comfortable in his presence.
Corey's POV Natasha returned home and found me seated in the same spot, my only luck was that Blake was peaceful and rarely cried even though sometimes I wanted him to cry just so that I could feel that I had a child. "Corey, are you alright?" She asked, wearing concern on her face like a cloak. She flung her bag aside and averted her gaze upstairs then sat beside me on the marbled floor. "Is it Blake? Did anything go wrong with him?" I shook my head, still at a loss of what to say or what to feel. "Kai came here today with Jasper." I blurted and she flinched in shock then time up in anger. "What the hell was he doing here? I thought what I did to him the first day would be enough to keep him away from you." She hollered, pacing from the end of the room to where I sat while I massaged my forehead. "Kai isn't just any kind of man," I replied and wanted to add that he was a werewolf but I decided against it as they didn't even want to be known. "He has money, power, and in
Corey's POV I took a walk around the garden, even though I was still scared of having Kai pass by and find out that I was staying in Natasha's house. I rushed back into the pantry and took a pair of shears, gloves, a rake, and a dustpan then returned to the garden. Blake was resting peacefully in his crib and since I was still job hunting, I had to distract myself as being in the house all day had become very boring. I worked on some stalks which were growing really fast then gathered them together. I was engrossed in my work, humming along to the song that played on my ear pods. When I was satisfied with the work I'd done, I moved to the next rows of flowers that bordered along the fence. I felt a light tap on my skin but ignored it until it became consistent. I twirled around and my eyes met with the last person I was expecting to see. "Kai?" My lips shivered as his name left my lips, my lips narrowing in slits and the shears on my hands fell to the floor. He nodded wit
Kai's POV Lawrence eyed me like I'd gone insane but I was sure that Corey was sitting over there and I had to meet her. If I had to attract the attention I was trying to avoid then I'd do it just to make her come back to me. I walked briskly towards them, my heart thudding against my chest as several thoughts of rejection swirled in my mind. It was scary but the things I did to her were worse compared to what she was doing. Finally, I got to their seat and tried to catch a glimpse of her. Her friend who was all bubbly squeezed her face when she saw me, then I made a pleading sign while palming my hands. "Good afternoon, beautiful ladies." I greeted and then the woman who I thought was Corey lifted up her face. She wasn't her even though they had the same hair color and body physique, but she kept reminding me of her and I wished that she had seen her already. "Do you need anything from us?" She interrogated. "I thought I did but there's no need now." I felt like leaving im
Kai's POV I missed my pack badly, and though my heart was at peace when it concerned them, I still had the urge to be sure that they were actually doing well. I dug into my pocket and reached for my phone while my eyes darted around the nice café I'd come to relax in. Being away from Corey and my son for some weeks messed with my mind. I needed something to hold onto, but there was nothing. I didn't want to use a mind link since I was in public to avoid attracting unnecessary attention to myself. Callan picked up after one ring like he had been expecting my call. "Good afternoon, Alpha Kai. I planned to call you today." His voice was cheerful as he replied. "That's good to hear," I replied with equal enthusiasm. "How does being the temporary pack ruler feel? Draining right?" I chuckled. "Sometimes it is, but I can manage because you taught me how to and presently the pack's ruling council and I are working on the new resort. I'd say that some of them are very difficult to
