Four

Kai's POV

Days passed by as everything went on normally. I made sure that Tracey never felt the bitter pang of her barrenness even though she allowed it to overwhelm her sometimes; just as it was happening now. 

I looked over my shoulder, taking my eyes off the book I was reading to watch her attractive face. It was one thing I could never get tired of doing; watching her face. 

"What's the matter, Tracey? You've been quiet since morning." I asked, concern etching all over my face. 

"The usual. I feel so bad for not being able to give you an heir. I don't know what I and the pack will do if anything happens to you. With all our enemies threatening war, it would be heartless of me to deprive you of a successor." She quivered as I jerked up to my feet. 

I knew my Luna, if she said any more she would begin to bawl and I wasn't sure my heart could take it. 

"Don't talk like that, Honey. I know it's taking time and we badly need an heir, but I love you and I'm sure the moon goddess would give us a child at the right time." I said and her fingers stopped trembling. 

My lips twitched as I thought of a way to brighten her mood. 

"I hope she does because I don't know what will happen if…" 

I shut her up with a kiss that wasn't just soothing but wild. She was reluctant at first, but at the incessant tugging of my lips, hers parted, giving me access to her. 

She moaned as I squeezed her ass and then I pulled out. 

"You really know how to get to me.." She giggled and I tickled her waist. 

"You like this?" I grinned and increased the speed at which I tickled her until the sound of her laughter filled the room. 

"Please… stop." She stuttered amidst her laughter and I did after seeing happy tears roll down her cheeks. "I love you, Kai, and I'm happy that the moon goddess brought us together. I hope that we have our desire soon." She said, her eyes becoming sad again. 

"She will. But for now, let's go somewhere fun." I suggested, jumping to my feet while she stared at me with questioning eyes. 

"What place do you have in mind?" She stood up as well, crossing her arms with her brows furrowed. She knew me to be naughty and when I was in a good mood, it was worse. 

"I won't tell you. Just dress up." I chirped and walked to the wardrobe to pick my clothes. 

She groaned and walked to the wardrobe. "What do I wear?" She muttered under her breath. 

"A short nice dress will do. You're beautiful already, you don't need to go overboard with how you'll look." I said and kissed her forehead. 

Minutes later, we trudged towards the car while holding hands together. The guards who were watching us smiled but in a fleeting second, they wore their expressionless masks. 

"This is going to be a lot of fun," I said enthusiastically and she rolled her eyes. 

"I hope it's worth it." She replied casually and looked away. 

It wasn't a serious surprise but I just wanted to do something to lighten our mood. The sun hid between the clouds and dimmed. It was about to set which was the best time for us to be at the park. 

"Close your eyes," I said with a smirk and she shrugged then her eyelids hugged each other. "Open it," I ordered as her eyes fluttered open. 

Her lips stretched into a smile that warmed my heart. I was elated that she was satisfied with where I brought her to. 

"Oh my! Kai, I love this. It's been a long time since I came to this kind of place." She pushed the car door open and jumped out. 

"Wait, Tracey." I pushed my door open as well and followed her as she ran towards the Merry-go-round. 

"I can't believe you brought me here. Let's play and forget all about our problems." She giggled like a child while I shook my head, sharing her excitement as I went after her. 

There was no need for me to pay because I was Alpha. While I trotted after her, some of my pack members bowed and whispered to each other which I didn't care about. Their smiles and well-being were my concern, whatever they did wasn't my business. 

The others who were on the Merry-go-round vacated it so that we could have our privacy. Most of them wanted to leave but I asked the manager to stop them as they were allowed to have as much fun as I did. 

"I pray I don't get dizzy soon," Tracey said and held my hand. 

The wheels kept moving faster and I held her hands. We were werewolves so trivial things like that couldn't make us weak. 

After a while, I stopped the rotation and we climbed down from the chairs. "Do you want anything?" My eyes flashed to hers as she nodded in agreement. 

"I need a big bowl of ice cream," She stretched her arms to show how big she wanted it to be. 

"Are you sure you can take something that big?" I laughed and led her towards the counter where snacks and other drinks were sold. 

I bought one for her and none for myself. Sugary foods had never appealed to me and ice cream was worse. It tasted like poop and I wondered what she enjoyed in it. 

"Thank you for bringing me here." She whispered when we sat on a bench staring at the trees and other couples who were having fun. 

"It's my pleasure, Honey. I just want us to be happy and nothing should come between it." I replied, reaching for her hands which she stretched without hesitation. 

The cloud became darker revealing that it was about to rain. 

"I have an idea," Tracey said, wiping a smear of ice cream from the hem of her dress. 

"You want us to play in the rain?" I smirked and she nodded, giving me a puppy look that she knew I would resist. 

"Yes. It's been a long time since we did that and since we are bent on having fun today, let's enjoy it to the fullest." She nudged me and stared into the dark gloomy sky while my eyes darted towards the people that were trying to leave the park. 

Though a few stayed back. I caught the sight of a young lady with sandy-coloured hair and memories flooded into my head. I was reminded of the young lady I had a one-night stand with at the pub. 

"Shit!" I cursed under my breath, standing up from the bench immediately. 

"What's the matter, Kai? Did I say anything wrong?" Tracey asked with concern. 

My heart thudded faster and when I blinked she was gone. The last thing I wanted was for my wife to know that I cheated on her. It would break her more than the last trip to her doctor's appointment did to her. 

"There's nothing wrong." I rushed and brought her face closer to mine. "We can play in the rain if you want." 

It seemed like the earth was waiting for my word because the thunder rumbled immediately and water began to pour out heavily. 

While Tracey danced around under the rain, my mind wandered. Several voices spoke in my head and some suggested that I reached out to her. 

I banished the thought immediately like I was trying to put out a fire. Sleeping with her was a mistake and we were both under the influence of alcohol. She left the room without saying goodbye to me which was the best for the both of us. 

"You're not even playing. Let's go home." Tracey sulked and walked away from me while I palmed my forehead. 

Tracey was my life and there was no way I'd allow a stranger to spoil what we had. For a moment I thought of telling her the truth but fear overwhelmed me. Besides, we need to be together to have children. 

"I'm sorry," I yelled, running after her. 

She didn't bother stopping until we got into the car. "Why are you so mad at me?" I asked even though I knew the reason. 

"We agreed to have fun today but you kept pulling away like you were hiding something. Tell me, did you do anything that would hurt me?" She demanded, pinning her gaze on me. 

"I didn't. I'm sorry for being distant, let's just go home." I said. 

"That's it?" She flung her arms into the air. "We shouldn't have left the house, you just had to spoil my mood." She sulked and looked away. 

My lips tried to form words to make her calm but it wasn't possible. 

"I apologize again, Honey. What happened here won't happen again." I assured her, placing my hand on her thighs but she wasn't having it as she shoved my hand away. 

"You don't need to. I'll just pray harder to have my own child soon." She snickered.
