HAZEL’S POV
“Put me down this instant!” I screamed, as I slammed my fists on his rock hard back.
My cries fell on deaf ears, as he kept walking out of the venue. My heart began to race as panic set in. Where was he taking me to? Why was all of this happening to me?
As these questions roamed around in my mind, I caught a glimpse of a metal glint, on his waist. My heart began to pound as a reckless idea struck in my head. In one swift motion, I pulled the knife out of his side, and immediately aimed to his back.
As I swung my hand to strike him, he grabbed my wrist, restricting my movements. I gasped as he pushed me to the wall, pinning me down. His icy orbs gazed into my soul, and I felt a shiver run down my spine.
He snatched the knife from my hand, and scoffed.
“You are a feisty one, aren’t you?”
I glared at him, spitting to his face. Gasps filled the room, and I watched as he used his tongue to wipe the spittle away from his lips. He grabbed my chin, tilting my head up until our eyes met.
“You can’t run away from me princess.”
He threw the knife to the ground, and fear gripped me. My eyes snapped away from him, and began to search the crowd for Lucas. Once I found him, my eyes widened and I began to silently plead for him to save me from this monster.
Lucas looked at me, and apologetic look on his face. My heart sunk in that moment, as I realized help will not be coming. No one would save me.
“Lights out, love,” Killian’s voice echoed through the air.
Before I could register his words, I felt a hard thud at the back of my neck, and I was pulled into darkness.
°°°°°°°°°
“No! Let me go!” I yelled as I jumped up.
My eyes sprang open as I blinked a couple of times. I looked around, and the room I lay in, was cold and unfamiliar. It was a small room, void of any furniture. Panic kicked in, as I recalled everything that has happened.
I remembered the way that barbarian marched in, and took me against my own will. How dare he trap me in this inhabitable room? My head began to spin as the weight of the situation pressed down on me.
Was I going to be locked here forever? What was he going to do with me?
As panic kicked in, I began to think of different solution S. I couldn’t stay here. I needed to get out of here. I picked myself up from the cold cement floor and rushed to the door. I placed my hands on the surface, and saw that it was a cold steel door.
My heart dropped. How was I going to break through this?
I didn’t have time to think. I rammed my body into the door, and pain shot up my arm. Ignoring the pain, I rammed myself in the door again. I did over and over again, as streaks of tears poured down, staining my cheeks.
“Please, please, open up, I can’t stay here like this,” I croaked.
I kept banging on the door, until I began to hear chains clicking from outside. I took a few steps back, my heart racing with anticipation as I kept my gaze fixed on the door. The door creaked open loudly, and two, large guards stepped in.
I rushed to them, hitting my fists on their chest.
“Let me out of this room, this instant! I am not supposed to be here!”
The guard shared a looked, and one of them scoffed at me. “We can’t do that, the Alpha’s orders. Now, stay back and stop causing a commotion.”
I glared at him, grabbing his leather suit. “I said, let me out of this filthy place, now!” I yelled.
The guards eyes suddenly grew cold and it made me rethink the things I had just done. He grabbed me by the wrists tightly, and a burning pain began to course through it.
“Do not make me tie you up, behave, or you will not lie what I will do to you,” he growled.
The air thickened with tension, and I was unable to utter another word to him. The other guard grabbed his arm and gave him a stern look while shaking his head.
“Do not hurt her, or do you want Alpha Killian to have your head? You know how brutal he can be.”
The guard clicked his tongue and let go of me. I watched them, as my breath quickened. They walked out of the room, and the door slammed shut loudly, making me jerk back in surprise.
As I heard the locks turn, my heart sunk further into my chest.
I felt utterly defeated, and powerless. I trudged to the corner of the room, and flopped down there. I raised my legs, and hugged myself tight as I began to contemplate my life from here on.
This led to rage filling me, because of how I was being treated. How dare he take me away against my own will?
Time went by, and after an hour, the door clicked open, and the same guard walked in. They pushed a tray of food to me and I looked down at it, anger swirling inside me.
“What am I, some kind of animal now?”
I picked up the tray, and threw it to the other side of the room. The guards looked at each other, before exiting the room.
“That woman is rather feisty, isn’t she?” I heard the guards say the moment they left the room.
“Yes, and I wonder who she is to the alpha.”
“I have been wondering about that too. He seems to like her very much. The Alpha normally doesn’t pay attention to anyone.”
Their voices began to get faint, and I heard their footsteps receding away from the door. Once I observed that they were no longer at the door, I closed my eyes shut.
I needed to summon wolf, that was my only hope of escaping this place.
I kept my eyes shut, as I desperately tried to feel her presence. I waited, for a while minute, and I felt notice.
“Come on, please, I need you,” I croaked.
I concentrated hard, and still nothing. My eyes slid open and I let out a sigh, a tired sigh. What was I going to do now? There was no one who could save me, I was all on my own. I buried my head into my knees and began to sob loudly.
I rose my head up, and wiped my teary cheeks. I couldn’t just give in to what that barbarian wants. I decided to wait till nightfall, and use the darkness as a cover to escape. I
I waited patiently, as time went by, and I occasionally glanced at the small window, to see when the sky would turn pitch black. Hours passed by, and the night time fell. I gazed at the dark sky, feeling a bit hopeful.
The door to then room began to crank open, and this drew my attention from the window. I stared intently, as the guards walked in, with another tray of food. I occasionally glanced at the open door, waiting for an opportunity to bolt passed them.
They slid the food to me, and I glared at them.
“I do not want this filthy garbage,” I hissed.
They both sighed and as they began to walk towards the door, I decided to make a run for it. But before I could get to the door, another man walked in. At the sight of his face, my heart dropped.
Killian.
His cold gaze hit me, and it felt like his eyes were boring a hole into my skin. He walked over to me, looming over me like a large tree.
“What is this I’m hearing? You do not want to eat?”
I scoffed. “And want is it to you? Why do you care if I starve or not?”
I could see him flex his jaws. “You need to eat, Hazel.”
I glared at him. “Do not call my name like you know me, and I will do whatever I want! Do not act like you give a shit about me!”
“But I do,” He said, in a rather soft voice.
I scoffed, awe plastered on my face. “You care about me, but you hit me, and you put me in this room that is not even fit for an animal to say in. Please, save your hypocrisy for someone who would actually buy it.”
Kilian sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “I do not have time for your tantrums and whining. Eat your food.”
Anger flared up in me, and I picked the tray of food, throwing it at him. The remnants fell to the door, and Killian glared at me.
“If you do not eat these grains of food that you have put on the floor, you will not have food served to you again.”
With that, he marched out of the room. Rage filled me and I picked up the tray, throwing it to the door as I screamed. In that moment, I made up my mind.
I would escape at the dead of night.
KILLIAN’S POVI drummed my hands on the table, my eyes scanning the whole surroundings. I was seated in the large meeting room, surrounded by the council members. They all seemed to be engaging in important conversations.I, who was seated at the head of the round table, was supposed to join in, my mind was somewhere else; Hazel. She was the only thing, stuck in my mind since last night. I ended up tossing and turning, trying to get some sleep, but she was stuck in my head. I couldn’t help but worry about her, especially since I knew she was rejecting her meals. At this rate, she might become malnourished. It was infuriating, knowing there was nothing I could do, to get her to eat. Should I use force? I shrugged to myself. That was the only way I knew how to do things, but in Hazel’s case, it has backfired. When I met her in that hall, I had expected her to leap into my hands and beg for me to take her away, but the look of fear in her eyes unexpected. Were methods wrong? I shook my h
HAZEL’S POV“Get your ass out of bed!”The loud voice roused me up from my slumber. My eyes snapped open, and I could feel my body ache. I was laying on the cold floor, and I could see a shadow hovering over me. My eyes move upwards, and it fell on three unfamiliar faces. They were girls, each of them wearing maid outfits.I pushed myself up into a sitting position as I rubbed my eyes.“What is it? What do you all want?”“What kind of dumb question is that?” One of them sneered.“It is time for training,” Another added.I blinked at the, disbelief. “What?”“Are you deaf? Or do you not understand simple englishm do I have to repeat myself again?”I stared at them in awe and bewilderment. As if I was not already confused that they had marched in here and woken me up forcefully, now they were spouting some shit about training.“Why do I have to train?” I asked.“Because everyone does that, every morning. It is a compulsory exercise and since you are now in this pack, you must attend it.
HAZEL’S POVThe loud banging on the door, roused me up from my slumber. I blinked in the dimly lit room and my eyes trailed to the window, only to see that the sun had disappeared from the sky and the moon has taken it’s place.Just how long had I fallen asleep? My stomach grumbled and I realised, I missed lunch. I let out a heavy sigh, as I used my fingers to run through my hair. The heavy banging came on the door again, making me jolt back.“It is time for dinner. Come out or dinner will be over soon.”At the sound of dinner, my stomach rumbled again. I picked myself up from the floor and made my way to the door. Once I was out of the room, and in the hallway I froze. The whole place was crowded with maids, who were rushing towards the dining hall.I inserted myself into the crowd, and followed them to the dinning hall. They all rushed in, most of them bumping into me and almost knocking me over. I kept my balance as my eyes were fixed on the direction they were running to.Right pa
KILLIAN’S POVPaperwork, paperwork, and more paperwork. That was the only thing I had been doing since last night. I scratched my head as I gazed at the piles and heaps of documents in front of me. I tapped my pen on the table, feeling irritated that I had to sit here and do all of this work.I wasn’t the type to sit down in a chair like some office worker and attend to papers that I knew nothing about. I groaned and pushed aside the papers in front of me. I laid my head back on the chair, and I began to twirl it around. The reason why this work has piled up so much, was because I was intentionally neglecting it. I spent less time in the office, than I did in other places. The only reason I had come back to it, was because, I needed a distraction from the thoughts that sought to consume me.Hazel.She was on my mind all day and all night, and I couldn’t stop thinking about the special plan I had for her. My plan for revenge against her seemed to be going smoothly, but the cost of that
HAZEL’S POVThe loud incessant banging on my door roused me up from my sleep, once again. As i rubbed my tired eyes, anger began to rise up within me. This had to be a daily routine. Could no one wake me up properly?I sighed, pushing myself up from the hard concrete ground, and groggily standing up. My body felt like it had been battered by a plank, but it didn’t feel as bad as it normally did. Was I getting used to sleeping on the cold concrete floor? My heart sank, a silent sigh leaving my lips. Was I getting used to living like a prisoner? The thought made me grimace. The rapt knocking came again, but this time it sounded softer. Had they known I was awake? I trudged up to the door and swung it open, ready to lash out at whoever was there, but when my eyes fell on three maids holding what looked like a ball gown, I was left speechless.“What the hell is this?” I asked, an eyebrow raised. The pushed me to the side and let themselves in. I stumbled back, gripping the wall until I wa
HAZEL’S POVThe carriage rattled underneath me, as I sat, two guards sandwiched between me. The first feeling I had was of fear, and anxiety, of what was to come. I was getting auctioned? What was going to happen to me? I was clueless on that, but I knew my life would be a much more living hell that it was when I was with Killian. We rode down the streets of the not so busy town, and my eyes caught a glimpse of a few passers by. If I was in a better emotional state, I would’ve had time to relish in the scenery. I looked back down to myself, to the dress I had been forced to wear and I felt utterly disgusted.I was being dressed, to please men, it sickened me.It didn’t take long before the carriage came to a halt, and the doors swung open. The guards pulled me out harshly, and it took all my strength to avoid myself from tumbling down to the ground.I looked up and my eyes landed on a building. It was painted in a darker shade of red, and has glass doors. Men, old men, who had large b
KILLIAN’S POVSmall bubbles formed at the top of the water, before they disappeared. I stared at it, my eyes wide as there were no movements. Had I pushed her in too deep? Could she even swim? I hadn’t thought about all of this, before I acted impulsively. But why should I care?I tried to ignore the fact that she was still submerged in the water, but it was hard to shake it off. I found myself slowly making my way to the way, my heart racing as I desperately searched for any signs of movement.Just as I was at the very beginning of the river, the water splashed and Hazel emerged from it. She was gasping cod air and flapping her hand around as she tried to start afloat. I couldn’t help but stiffle a chuckle at how comical she looked. Her hair was glued to her face and she snapped her head around, in a desperate attempt to look for me. I covered my mouth as I couldn’t hold the laughter in any longer.“What the hell is funny!? Huh? Is this funny to you?!” She yelled from where she staye
HAZEL’S POVMy eyes fluttered open, and they were met with an unfamiliar ceiling. The smell of antiseptic hit my nose, and I tried to figure out where on earth I was. There was a reoccurring sound in a background, a little beeping that resounded every second. My eyes scanned the area in front of me, and there was nothing, just a white wall and some white tiles. My eyes travelled further down to my body and I saw that I was laying on a bed, my lower body draped in a white cloth.I snapped my head to the side, and found the source of the beeping noises. It was a small machine, that had numbers in it, and a line that moved according to the beeping. Just at the corner of my eyes, I noticed a bag, and looked up at it.It was transparent, and had a liquid it in. That was when I both the needle, infused on my hand, and it has a pipe that was connected to the bag. My body ran cold. Was I on a drip?I tried to push myself up from the bed, but my head began to pound loudly, and my arms began to
KILLIAN’S POV“So what exactly is the problem that you had to drag me away from my dinner?”Orion, who was walking beside me kept his head bent low and his eyes fixed on the floor. There was a hint of worry and terror in his eyes and that made me even more curious to know what had happened. I kept my eyes fixed on Orion, in order to read his body language and noticed how his body quivered slightly. My curiosity was at its peak now.And from what I could tell, it was an urgent matter.“Your alpha is asking you a question, so answer, now,” I boomed.Orion refused to meet my gaze, but he opened up his mouth to speak. No words came out of it and I saw how his lips quivered. That was when a chill ran up my spine. This was more serious than I thought. O grabbed Orion by the collar and forced him to look my way.“You better open up your mouth to speak, now!”Orion with wide eyes nodded, before I let him go.“We will need to go to your office first. There is something you must see.”Orion too
HAZEL’S POVThe moment those words slipped out of my mouth, I regretted it instantly. I could feel eyes on me, and that made me feel like a cornered mouse. My eyes flickered to Celeste and the horrified look on her face made my heart drop.Nausea poked at my stomach, as I tried to think of a way to salvage the situation, but as I heard the chair scraping the floor, I lost all hope. Killian had stood up from the chair and he had a stern, yet curious look in his eyes.“Why did you tell me to stop?”My eyes switched to him and they remained wide. I opened up my mouth to speak, but no words slipped out of them. How could they? What was I going to tell him? I tried my hardest to cook up a believable lie in my head, but nothing was coming to me.“I asked you a question Hazel, and I demand an answer,” He boomed. My anxiety was on the rise, and the tension in the air was so high, it was suffocating. There was a long streak of silence that had settled down between Killian and I, which made the
HAZELS POV“I want to go to the store and buy some items, and I request that you take me there,” I said, my head raised high. The guards, who stood in front of me, shared a look, before they all burst into loud fits of laughter. One of them wiped a bit of tears from the corner of his eyes before looking at me, like I was nothing more than a rat.“And who do you think you are, that you can come and order us around huh? Get lost slave,” He barked.I clenched my fists by my side, as I tried my hardest not to get angry. As I exhaled, I looked at each of them, dead in the eyes with a stern look on my face.“I have every right to ask you to take me out to the shops.”One of the guards raised his eyebrows and smirked. “Who died and made up Luna?”They all chuckled and I scoffed.“Why don’t you go ask Alpha Killian? He will most definitely tell you all to take me out to the shops.”They all shared a look and it was glaring that my words were not that convincing. One of them however, clapped h
KILLIAN’S POVThe monitors that hung on the wall were alive, displaying the cells, specifically the one that held Hazel’s parents. Hazel’s eyes were fixed intently on the screen and I watched, as her pupils flickered through each monitor. My eyes were fixed on her and I couldn’t take them off. Anxiety was coursing through my chest, as silence hung in the air. The silence came with a palpable tension, which was driving me to the edge.I was beginning to think that showing her how I had put our family behind bars would ruin the new friendship we had built up. The thought of that made my heart drop to the pit of my chest. My mind was swarmed with questions. What did she think? Was she happy, or was she sad? Will she be angry at me for keeping her parents in a cell? The more these questions swam around in my head, the more my guest tightened. My eyes flickered to her face and she has a stoic expression plastered on it. My anxiety it shot up the roof, at the fact that I could not tell what
HAZEL’S POV“Celeste please! Can you stop bugging me? It’s getting annoying!” I yelled. My hands paused, as I stopped kneading the dough in front of me. Celeste continued with her kneading while pouting her lips like a child that has just been scolded.“Why? I’m just asking you to tell me what happened with you and Killian last night. Did I ask you for too much?”I sighed and went back to kneading the dough. “You have been hounding me all day and I’m already annoyed that we’re on kitchen duty today. You pestering me is making it worse!”Celeste stopped kneading and turned to me. “Why are you being so secretive about it? If it’s not something you keep asking a secret, then tell me.”I shook my head. “I am not telling you! I’ve said this over and over again, so just leave me alone!”Silence fell on the whole kitchen and I began to feel bad for yelling at her just like that. I wish I could, but I knew how Celeste would react if I told her I shared an intimate moment with Killian. She wou
HAZEL’S POVI could not phantom the feeling arising in my heart the moment I witnessed Killian stand up to me. Was it happiness because he spoke up to Gray and defended me? Or was it the thrill that came with knowing I had finally won him over to my side? These thoughts clouded my head as I walked back to my room. As I placed my hand on the doorknob, a thought occurred to me. A part of me was happy that I was making progress with Killian, but another part felt terrible because I was basically lying to him.I was only getting him to trust me, so I could use that to my advantage. The thought left a bitter taste in my mouth and I couldn’t shake the thought of my mind, but then, I vividly recalled he asked to see Celeste.I walked into my room and I couldn’t stop anxiety from coursing through my entire being. Why had he called for Celeste? Was it the words I had told him yesterday? Did it offend him so much, that he was going to take it out on her.My face went ashen as all the blood drai
KILLIAN’S POVI blinked, as I tried to clear my blurred up vision, but that did not help. The words that were in front of me, on the document I held, were beginning to become incomprehensible to me. I wiped my eyes again, and tried to focus, but it was no use.I needed sleep.Last night was an agonizing journey of tossing, turning and overthinking. The cause of my turmoil? Hazel, specifically the whole situation that happened with her recently. The words she said to me, the way she ignored me was stuck on my mind and it made me a bit annoyed. How could she be angry because I was only thinking about my pack? She was just being unreasonable.I looked down at the document again, and the words were all jumbled up. I slammed the paper down on the desk and laid my head back on the air chair. Who was a fooling? I knew what I felt truly deep within me and I could not deny it any further. The truth was, I felt terrible for what I did to Hazel and she had every right to angry at me. I felt like
HAZEL’S POV“Get your hands off me,” Celeste protested as she looked at me sternly. Her eyes that were firm did not deter or scare me and her usual intimidation was not going to work on me this time. My anger has reached the top of the bottle and was spilling over. I could not contain it in any longer.“I am sick and tired of this behaviour of yours. What? Do you think I am some kind of pushover? A dumb puppet that you can just use as pawn for whatever plan you’re concocting?”Celeste scoffed. “What? What exactly is it you want to say? You want me to include you in my plans?”“Is that not a given? Do I need to say before you know that you are supposed to? You tell me to do this, and that, but go behind my back and do a plan I have never been told about? Why? Why do you do things behind me y back? Are we not in this together?”Celeste snatched her hand from my gripped and pointed a finger at me. “You want me to include you? When you are barely making any progress with the simple plan I
HAZEL’S POV“Tell me what happened with you and Killain today,” Celeste demanded as she folded her arms.I blinked at her in awe, unable to comprehend how that was the first thing she was telling me the moment I walked into her room. Celeste was sitting right on her bed, folding her arms and giving me a stern look.“Why do you want to know?” I said and rolled my eyes.I walked over to her wooden chair and plopped down on it. Celeste raised an eyebrow at me.“And why wouldn’t I want to know? You and Killian going on a date? That seems awfully suspicious.”I frowned. “What do you mean?”“Well, it seems suspicious that you don’t want to tell me what you both did in the park? Did you perhaps have a little date? Or maybe you’ve actually fallen for him.”I slammed my hand on the table beside me and glared at her. “Do not make stupid jokes like that. Why the hell would you assume I’ve fallen for that tyrant?”Celeste shrugged, seemingly unfazed by my outburst. “Then why the hell are hiding w
