KILLIAN’S POV
Paperwork, paperwork, and more paperwork. That was the only thing I had been doing since last night. I scratched my head as I gazed at the piles and heaps of documents in front of me. I tapped my pen on the table, feeling irritated that I had to sit here and do all of this work.
I wasn’t the type to sit down in a chair like some office worker and attend to papers that I knew nothing about. I groaned and pushed aside the papers in front of me. I laid my head back on the chair, and I began to twirl it around.
The reason why this work has piled up so much, was because I was intentionally neglecting it. I spent less time in the office, than I did in other places. The only reason I had come back to it, was because, I needed a distraction from the thoughts that sought to consume me.
Hazel.
She was on my mind all day and all night, and I couldn’t stop thinking about the special plan I had for her. My plan for revenge against her seemed to be going smoothly, but the cost of that, was my reputation.
Anxiety hit me and I let out a heavy sigh. I still had that to worry about. I was completely clueless on how I could possibly fix my reputation, and tame Hazel at the same time. It seemed like an impossible feat, but I was going to overcome it no matter what.
As I kept my eyes fixed on the ceiling, the door suddenly barged open and I heard hurried footsteps walking over to my desk. I looked over and my face fell flat.
“Speaking of the devil,” I said, as I sat up on the chair, “How dare you barge into the Alpha’s office, without knocking. You could get your hands chopped off for that, Hazel.”
She was looking down at me, her eyes ablaze with anger. Hazel points her finger at me, her lips pressed into a tight line.
“I am tired of this petty game you are playing. I demand to be sent back to my parents, I want to see them.”
I blinked at her, awe filling me being. I couldn’t help but let out a throaty chuckle that seemed to aggravate her even more. Her hands clenched into fists by her side, and the veins on her neck began to pop out.
I couldn’t help but smirk. I loved making her feel anger. That rage, I wanted her to feel it, because that was how I felt when she abandoned me for another man, when we made a promise to each other. But this was nothing. I was going to torture her and make sure she understands what she put me through.
“Why are you laughing? What’s so funny?!” She yelled.
I tilted my head to the side. “You step into my office and make such a ridiculous demand. You are not going anywhere,” I boomed.
“How dare you! How dare you bring me here against my will?! Because of some stupid promise we made as kids?! Is that why you wish to torture me like this?!”
My eyes twitched as the words, ‘stupid promise’. It angered me to know that I was the only one that held that promise to her. I rose up from the chair, circling around until I was standing an inch apart from her.
“Do not get me riled up this morning. You will not be setting foot outside my pack borders.”
Hazel bit her lips and landed a slap across my cheeks. I help my cheek, my eyes slowly turning to her. I grabbed her wrists and pinned her down to the wall. I could feel my body pressing against her and her breath against my lips.
We locked gazes and for a moment the anger inside of cooled didn’t a bit.
“I just miss my family, please,” Hazel croaked.
Her softened, tear filled eyes gazed at me, and it was like fire melting the ice in my heart. My heart began to race and I could hear hers racing too. I brushed out lips together and a soft gasp left her lips.
I blinked, like I was drawn back to reality. I took a step back and pushed her to the door as I held my mouth.
“Get out, now. Do not make me repeat myself.”
Hazel looked like she swallowed whatever she wanted to say as she ran out of the office. I walked over to my desk, using it to brace myself. The way she looked at me, the feeling of her body against mine, and the way her soft lips felt on mine, made me almost lose my mind.
I was ready to let her go, but then, I remembered the revenge plan I had in store for her. I must keep to it. I exhaled to slow down the rapid beating of my heart. As I sat back down on my chair, the office door clicked open, and a familiar face walked in.
“What do you want Gray?”
“I have a preposition for you Alpha,” He said.
I looked up at him, gauging his expression. “Go on, what is it?”
“I can help you with your bad image around the pack.”
I snorted. “Even the elders could not help me, how are you going to help me?”
“Alpha, if you would just let me explain my plan, you will see that-“
“I don’t want to hear it, get out,” I cut in.
I switched my eyes back to the paperwork on the table, but once I pick up my pen, Gray speaks up again.
“You know, the reason why your reputation is so terrible around the pack, is because of that girl, Hazel.”
I immediately snapped my head to him, and I frowned.
“And what is your point?”
Gray cleared his throat. “Since she is the source of your bad reputation, we can use her to our advantage, which means, we will use her to get your reputation back.”
His words piqued my interest a bit, and I was fully invested. “Go on, I’m listening.”.
Gray grinned. “I think it will be a good idea to auction Hazel off, as some kind of trophy. That way, you can win the favour of everyone in the pack.”
His words hit me like an unexpected blow in the face. It was not a bad idea, but I could feel my wolf greatly detesting the idea. It was a war within me as I pondered on his words. After a few seconds of total silence, I tapped my fingers on the table.
“I will think about it,” I said flatly.
Grey looked a bit disappointed, but he sighed. “Okay Alpha, thank you for your time.”
He made his way to the door, but stopped when his hand was on the door handle.
“Oh, and Alpha, I will advise you to go to the park yourself and see just now much the hate is for you. Maybe then will you change your mind and accept my preposition.”
And with those final words hanging in the air, he exited the office.
°°°°°°°°°°°°°
I walked down the busy street, aware of the stares I was getting. I took Gray’s advice out of curiosity and came outside, and I was not disappointed. Just like I thought, the animosity towards me was everywhere.
There was not a single person that did not give me a look of disdain when I walked by. The stares didn’t affect me, nor did I care about what they thought, but If I wanted to successfully rule the whole pack, I needed to build a good and healthy relationship with my people.
But right now, that was looking like an impossible feat and Hazel coming into the picture made things worse.
Ignoring the stares, I walked towards a small gate, that let to the packs open park. The sound of children playing and the wind blowing in the air made the whole atmosphere seem peaceful. But the moment I stepped in, silence hit the whole place.
I could hear the grasses crunching under my feat as I went by, and the stares were worse than that the ones I goy earlier. Now, they didn’t try to hide the way they glared at me.
“Is that him?” I heard one of the whisper.
I walked my a family, and the mother pulled her cuks closer as she glared at me.
“That is him alright, the tyrant.”
“He looks more devilish in person.”
“How can someone like this rule us? Is he going to kill us all too?”
“We need to start a revolution, we need to take stance.”
I stopped dead in my tracks and turned my head to the person that spoke. It was a group of men and when they met my gaze, they all looked away and began to walk to a different part of the pack.
My heart dropped? A revolution? This was more serious than I thought.
I picked up my phone and dialled Gray’s number. When it clicked, I didn’t even give him a chance to speak.
“I will take you up on that offer.”
HAZEL’S POVThe loud incessant banging on my door roused me up from my sleep, once again. As i rubbed my tired eyes, anger began to rise up within me. This had to be a daily routine. Could no one wake me up properly?I sighed, pushing myself up from the hard concrete ground, and groggily standing up. My body felt like it had been battered by a plank, but it didn’t feel as bad as it normally did. Was I getting used to sleeping on the cold concrete floor? My heart sank, a silent sigh leaving my lips. Was I getting used to living like a prisoner? The thought made me grimace. The rapt knocking came again, but this time it sounded softer. Had they known I was awake? I trudged up to the door and swung it open, ready to lash out at whoever was there, but when my eyes fell on three maids holding what looked like a ball gown, I was left speechless.“What the hell is this?” I asked, an eyebrow raised. The pushed me to the side and let themselves in. I stumbled back, gripping the wall until I wa
HAZEL’S POVThe carriage rattled underneath me, as I sat, two guards sandwiched between me. The first feeling I had was of fear, and anxiety, of what was to come. I was getting auctioned? What was going to happen to me? I was clueless on that, but I knew my life would be a much more living hell that it was when I was with Killian. We rode down the streets of the not so busy town, and my eyes caught a glimpse of a few passers by. If I was in a better emotional state, I would’ve had time to relish in the scenery. I looked back down to myself, to the dress I had been forced to wear and I felt utterly disgusted.I was being dressed, to please men, it sickened me.It didn’t take long before the carriage came to a halt, and the doors swung open. The guards pulled me out harshly, and it took all my strength to avoid myself from tumbling down to the ground.I looked up and my eyes landed on a building. It was painted in a darker shade of red, and has glass doors. Men, old men, who had large b
KILLIAN’S POVSmall bubbles formed at the top of the water, before they disappeared. I stared at it, my eyes wide as there were no movements. Had I pushed her in too deep? Could she even swim? I hadn’t thought about all of this, before I acted impulsively. But why should I care?I tried to ignore the fact that she was still submerged in the water, but it was hard to shake it off. I found myself slowly making my way to the way, my heart racing as I desperately searched for any signs of movement.Just as I was at the very beginning of the river, the water splashed and Hazel emerged from it. She was gasping cod air and flapping her hand around as she tried to start afloat. I couldn’t help but stiffle a chuckle at how comical she looked. Her hair was glued to her face and she snapped her head around, in a desperate attempt to look for me. I covered my mouth as I couldn’t hold the laughter in any longer.“What the hell is funny!? Huh? Is this funny to you?!” She yelled from where she staye
HAZEL’S POVMy eyes fluttered open, and they were met with an unfamiliar ceiling. The smell of antiseptic hit my nose, and I tried to figure out where on earth I was. There was a reoccurring sound in a background, a little beeping that resounded every second. My eyes scanned the area in front of me, and there was nothing, just a white wall and some white tiles. My eyes travelled further down to my body and I saw that I was laying on a bed, my lower body draped in a white cloth.I snapped my head to the side, and found the source of the beeping noises. It was a small machine, that had numbers in it, and a line that moved according to the beeping. Just at the corner of my eyes, I noticed a bag, and looked up at it.It was transparent, and had a liquid it in. That was when I both the needle, infused on my hand, and it has a pipe that was connected to the bag. My body ran cold. Was I on a drip?I tried to push myself up from the bed, but my head began to pound loudly, and my arms began to
HAZEL’S POVI couldn’t move, no matter how much I struggled. I could feel the heat of his body, so close to mine. His musky scent filled my nose, and for some reason, it wasn’t unpleasant.Killian opened up the bottle and pulled out a pill. He held it up to my mouth. “Open your mouth,” He said in a soft, yet demanding tone.I found my lips quivering, and I gave in. I opened up my mouth slowly and he threw the pill in. I was forced to swallow, as the bitter taste hit my mouth. I cringed, as the bitter taste spread across my tongue.“Good, you actually listened to me today,” He let out a throaty chuckle. Our eyes met and we gazed at each other for what felt like an eternity. His eyes were dark, and void, there was also something mysterious about the way he looked at me. I couldn’t read him, or know what was going through his head. His gaze was different today however. There was not a single icy glint in his orbs, and for a moment, I saw a flash of desire course through them. My cheeks f
KILLIAN’S POVI watched, intently as Hazel took a sip of the soup. Her face twisted into a scowl and her lips pursed together. I smirked to myself and watched as she took another spoon. From the way she closed her yes shut, I could tell she was holding herself back from throwing up all over the bed.I had expected Hazel to start whining and complaining about how the soup tasted, but to my surprise, she just sat there quietly, and kept eating the soup. The more I watched her, the more I couldn’t take my eyes of her.I watched how her hair dipped to the side, and she tried to take a sip from the spoon. Her long eyelashes fluttered as she closed her eyes shut the moment the spoon entered her mouth. And the way her lips puckered at the taste of the spoon. For some reason I was entranced by it.I was so stuck on her appearance, that I didn’t notice thr bowl was empty until she pointed it to my face.“Look, I’m done, what are you staring at?” She clicked h4r tongue.I blinked rapidly, my ey
HAZEL’S POVI held on to my neck that burned with pain as tears slipped down my cheeks. I tried my best to swallow down my sobs, but they seemed to come out more, as I tried to suppress them. This was the first time, I actually felt a sense of dread in front of Killian. His demeanour was different, everything about him scared me. The look in his eyes, the scowl on his face was like nothing I had ever seen before. For the first time, I was actually scared he would take my life. My hands slipped down from my neck and I hugged my quivering body. No matter how much I tried to stop my body from shaking, I could not. This whole encounter made a realisation dawn on me. If Killian wanted to kill me, he would’ve killed me without batting an eyelid. I was so close to dead and I could feel my whole body going limp. This made me realise that I was all on my own, and I had no one to save me. I was at the mercy of Killian and that made me feel so hopeless. What was I going to do? Was I going to die
KILLIAN’S POVI walked down the stairs, Orion by my side, as well as a timid looking doctor. Darkness had enveloped us, as we ventured further down into the underground cave. As we good deeper, we began to hear wails and cries of wolves, that almost seemed inhumane. Those were the cries of prisoners begging to be released. We went further down, and a long row came into view. My each side of the thin corridor, were cell doors, and each of them had prisoners in them. I walked down from the stairs and began to venture down the corridor.Prisoners from each end of the corridor threw their hands out from the tiny spaces in the cell and began to claw at the air, desperate to grab either of us. The doctor flinched as one of them managed to reach him. They grabbed on to his clothes and he began to flail around in an attempt to get them off him, but these prisoners were relentless. I grabbed the hand of the prisoner and crushed it in a matter of seconds. The skinny prisoner fell back to the co
KILLIAN’S POV“So what exactly is the problem that you had to drag me away from my dinner?”Orion, who was walking beside me kept his head bent low and his eyes fixed on the floor. There was a hint of worry and terror in his eyes and that made me even more curious to know what had happened. I kept my eyes fixed on Orion, in order to read his body language and noticed how his body quivered slightly. My curiosity was at its peak now.And from what I could tell, it was an urgent matter.“Your alpha is asking you a question, so answer, now,” I boomed.Orion refused to meet my gaze, but he opened up his mouth to speak. No words came out of it and I saw how his lips quivered. That was when a chill ran up my spine. This was more serious than I thought. O grabbed Orion by the collar and forced him to look my way.“You better open up your mouth to speak, now!”Orion with wide eyes nodded, before I let him go.“We will need to go to your office first. There is something you must see.”Orion too
HAZEL’S POVThe moment those words slipped out of my mouth, I regretted it instantly. I could feel eyes on me, and that made me feel like a cornered mouse. My eyes flickered to Celeste and the horrified look on her face made my heart drop.Nausea poked at my stomach, as I tried to think of a way to salvage the situation, but as I heard the chair scraping the floor, I lost all hope. Killian had stood up from the chair and he had a stern, yet curious look in his eyes.“Why did you tell me to stop?”My eyes switched to him and they remained wide. I opened up my mouth to speak, but no words slipped out of them. How could they? What was I going to tell him? I tried my hardest to cook up a believable lie in my head, but nothing was coming to me.“I asked you a question Hazel, and I demand an answer,” He boomed. My anxiety was on the rise, and the tension in the air was so high, it was suffocating. There was a long streak of silence that had settled down between Killian and I, which made the
HAZELS POV“I want to go to the store and buy some items, and I request that you take me there,” I said, my head raised high. The guards, who stood in front of me, shared a look, before they all burst into loud fits of laughter. One of them wiped a bit of tears from the corner of his eyes before looking at me, like I was nothing more than a rat.“And who do you think you are, that you can come and order us around huh? Get lost slave,” He barked.I clenched my fists by my side, as I tried my hardest not to get angry. As I exhaled, I looked at each of them, dead in the eyes with a stern look on my face.“I have every right to ask you to take me out to the shops.”One of the guards raised his eyebrows and smirked. “Who died and made up Luna?”They all chuckled and I scoffed.“Why don’t you go ask Alpha Killian? He will most definitely tell you all to take me out to the shops.”They all shared a look and it was glaring that my words were not that convincing. One of them however, clapped h
KILLIAN’S POVThe monitors that hung on the wall were alive, displaying the cells, specifically the one that held Hazel’s parents. Hazel’s eyes were fixed intently on the screen and I watched, as her pupils flickered through each monitor. My eyes were fixed on her and I couldn’t take them off. Anxiety was coursing through my chest, as silence hung in the air. The silence came with a palpable tension, which was driving me to the edge.I was beginning to think that showing her how I had put our family behind bars would ruin the new friendship we had built up. The thought of that made my heart drop to the pit of my chest. My mind was swarmed with questions. What did she think? Was she happy, or was she sad? Will she be angry at me for keeping her parents in a cell? The more these questions swam around in my head, the more my guest tightened. My eyes flickered to her face and she has a stoic expression plastered on it. My anxiety it shot up the roof, at the fact that I could not tell what
HAZEL’S POV“Celeste please! Can you stop bugging me? It’s getting annoying!” I yelled. My hands paused, as I stopped kneading the dough in front of me. Celeste continued with her kneading while pouting her lips like a child that has just been scolded.“Why? I’m just asking you to tell me what happened with you and Killian last night. Did I ask you for too much?”I sighed and went back to kneading the dough. “You have been hounding me all day and I’m already annoyed that we’re on kitchen duty today. You pestering me is making it worse!”Celeste stopped kneading and turned to me. “Why are you being so secretive about it? If it’s not something you keep asking a secret, then tell me.”I shook my head. “I am not telling you! I’ve said this over and over again, so just leave me alone!”Silence fell on the whole kitchen and I began to feel bad for yelling at her just like that. I wish I could, but I knew how Celeste would react if I told her I shared an intimate moment with Killian. She wou
HAZEL’S POVI could not phantom the feeling arising in my heart the moment I witnessed Killian stand up to me. Was it happiness because he spoke up to Gray and defended me? Or was it the thrill that came with knowing I had finally won him over to my side? These thoughts clouded my head as I walked back to my room. As I placed my hand on the doorknob, a thought occurred to me. A part of me was happy that I was making progress with Killian, but another part felt terrible because I was basically lying to him.I was only getting him to trust me, so I could use that to my advantage. The thought left a bitter taste in my mouth and I couldn’t shake the thought of my mind, but then, I vividly recalled he asked to see Celeste.I walked into my room and I couldn’t stop anxiety from coursing through my entire being. Why had he called for Celeste? Was it the words I had told him yesterday? Did it offend him so much, that he was going to take it out on her.My face went ashen as all the blood drai
KILLIAN’S POVI blinked, as I tried to clear my blurred up vision, but that did not help. The words that were in front of me, on the document I held, were beginning to become incomprehensible to me. I wiped my eyes again, and tried to focus, but it was no use.I needed sleep.Last night was an agonizing journey of tossing, turning and overthinking. The cause of my turmoil? Hazel, specifically the whole situation that happened with her recently. The words she said to me, the way she ignored me was stuck on my mind and it made me a bit annoyed. How could she be angry because I was only thinking about my pack? She was just being unreasonable.I looked down at the document again, and the words were all jumbled up. I slammed the paper down on the desk and laid my head back on the air chair. Who was a fooling? I knew what I felt truly deep within me and I could not deny it any further. The truth was, I felt terrible for what I did to Hazel and she had every right to angry at me. I felt like
HAZEL’S POV“Get your hands off me,” Celeste protested as she looked at me sternly. Her eyes that were firm did not deter or scare me and her usual intimidation was not going to work on me this time. My anger has reached the top of the bottle and was spilling over. I could not contain it in any longer.“I am sick and tired of this behaviour of yours. What? Do you think I am some kind of pushover? A dumb puppet that you can just use as pawn for whatever plan you’re concocting?”Celeste scoffed. “What? What exactly is it you want to say? You want me to include you in my plans?”“Is that not a given? Do I need to say before you know that you are supposed to? You tell me to do this, and that, but go behind my back and do a plan I have never been told about? Why? Why do you do things behind me y back? Are we not in this together?”Celeste snatched her hand from my gripped and pointed a finger at me. “You want me to include you? When you are barely making any progress with the simple plan I
HAZEL’S POV“Tell me what happened with you and Killain today,” Celeste demanded as she folded her arms.I blinked at her in awe, unable to comprehend how that was the first thing she was telling me the moment I walked into her room. Celeste was sitting right on her bed, folding her arms and giving me a stern look.“Why do you want to know?” I said and rolled my eyes.I walked over to her wooden chair and plopped down on it. Celeste raised an eyebrow at me.“And why wouldn’t I want to know? You and Killian going on a date? That seems awfully suspicious.”I frowned. “What do you mean?”“Well, it seems suspicious that you don’t want to tell me what you both did in the park? Did you perhaps have a little date? Or maybe you’ve actually fallen for him.”I slammed my hand on the table beside me and glared at her. “Do not make stupid jokes like that. Why the hell would you assume I’ve fallen for that tyrant?”Celeste shrugged, seemingly unfazed by my outburst. “Then why the hell are hiding w
