Chapter 2

Ambush And Capture

It was finally The morning of our long planned battle. I picked up my mother's necklace. “mum, dad, I hope you are watching, your daughter is ready to avenge your death”. I said holding the necklace close to my chest.

As I walked out of my tent, my mind raced with unknown fear I waved off the fear knowing fully well I had perfected my plans. Every detail had been perfectly strategies. I couldn't afford any mistakes. Just as I stepped out, Michael walked up to  me, his expression tense. I could tell something was wrong before he even spoke.

“Olivia, we have a problem,” he said, his voice sounding urgent.

I turned to face him, my brows furrowing with concern. “What is it?”

“It's about Andrea. He says he's not feeling too well,” Michael explained.

“Andrea? But he was perfectly fine yesterday. He was the one who suggested our ambush point,” I said, confusion noticeable in my voice.

Michael nodded,  “He was so active and involved in the planning. This sudden illness seems... odd.”

I sighed, running a hand through my hair. “We can't risk taking a sick wolf with us. If he's really unwell, he could compromise the whole thing.”

Michael and I walked over to Andrea's tent. He lay on the ground, a blanket pulled up to his chin, his face pale and eyes half closed. He looked so ill, but something about the situation didn't sit right with me.

“Andrea,” I called out, my voice firm. “What's going on? Are you really not feeling well?”

He opened his eyes slowly, looking up at me with a weak expression. “I  don't know what happened, Olivia. I just woke up feeling like this. I don't think I can go in this state.” he explained his voice timid

I studied him carefully, trying to discern any sign of deception. His breathing was labored, and his skin looked pale. “We can't afford any weak person on this mission,” I said, my tone softening slightly. "If you're really sick, you need to stay here and recover.

I exchanged a glance with Michael, who nodded in agreement. "Alright," I said finally. “We'll manage without you. Just take care of yourself, okay?”

“Thank you,” Andrea murmured, his eyes closing again as he wrapped himself in the blanket.

As Michael and I walked away, I couldn't shake the uneasy feeling I was having. Andrea had been so enthusiastic about the mission, so why was he suddenly inactive? It didn't make sense.

"I don't like this," I admitted to Michael as we prepared the rest of the team. "Something feels off."

"Same here I just feel uneasy about this," he replied. "Let's just hope things go well," he added.

I nodded, pushing my doubts aside. We didn't have time for doubts we have a lot ahead of us. As we moved towards the Firestorm pack, I looked around to be sure everywhere was safe for us.

Taking a deep breath, I signaled for everyone to take their positions. We were at the spot Andrea had suggested

The forest was so quiet, so calm, My heart beating hard in my chest as I waited, ready for action.

Just as I was about to give the signal for attack, I noticed a sudden movement with the corner of my eye. Panic hit me  as I realized what was happening. “Ambush!” I shouted, but it was too late. Firestorm warriors ran out from their hideout, descending upon us with brutality.

War started off as we clashed with the enemy. I transformed immediately letting my wolf take over, fighting with all the passion in me . But frustration started to set in as  I watched my men fall around me, plans we have made for years were crumbling right in my own eye. How did the Firestorm warriors find out about our plans? the one question I just couldn't find answers to.

"Michael, stay close!" I called out, fighting with my claws digging into the fire storm warriors, but we were badly outnumbered.

"Olivia, we have to retreat!" he shouted back, his voice strained with effort.

“How do we run from the numbers of warriors they will definitely catch up with us” I screamed out still fighting vigorously

It was no use. The Firestorm warriors were powerful, their attacks merciless. One by one, my team members fell, their blood spilling on the forest floor. My vision blurred with tears as I fought on, refusing to give in.

Finally, it was just Michael and me, surrounded by enemies. “Michael, run!” I whispered, my voice hoarse from shouting.

“No, I can't leave you!” he replied fiercely. “I’m not going anywhere without you”

“Listen to me!” I said, as we backed each other. "I can survive on my own, Mia won't let me die, just go” I instructed"

Reluctantly, Michael nodded. “Stay safe, Olivia,” he said, before turning and disappearing into the woods.”

Just then, I felt a sharp thrust on my side. a sharp scream escaped my mouth,  I gasped, stumbling as blood soaked my clothes. Everything became blurry, and I fell to my knees. Strong hands grabbed me roughly, pulling me to my feet. I was captured.

I was dragged through the Firestorm territory, They brought me before Alpha Jethro, he was even more towering than I could recall with his graying black hair with a cold, merciless gaze. anger was obvious in his face as he gripped my chin, forcing me to meet his eyes.

“So you this little thing wants to attack my pack ”he said, his voice coming out as a low growl.

My heart was beating hard in my chest, but I forced myself to remain calm. “I'm not part of the attackers, they must have mistaken me” I said, my voice firm I had to do this the last thing I wanted was death.

"Behead her," Jethro instructed, his eyes narrowed with determination.

My mind raced. I was about to die at the hands of the man who had destroyed my family. Was like only fair to wicked people. I thought bitter tears were threatening to run down my cheek.

Just as the executioner raised his sword, a voice cut through the tension. "Wait!" a slim muscularly framed chiseled face  young man with neatly trimmed dark brown hair stepped forward with a determined look “She's my new maid.”

Jethro's eyes beamed with anger. “How dare you lie to me? She was brought here by the warriors, she was among the rogues trying to attack my pack”

“Father she must have been mistaken for one of them. She is my new maid. I sent her to the woods to get me some wild flowers.” he said again his tone sounding so true

There was a moment of tension. I could see one of the warriors trying to say something but he must have been scared to interrupt the father and son's talk. Jethro glared at his son. "Derrick, if you are lying to me, you will pay dearly for your miserable life," he spat.

How could he even talk to his son in that tone and why was Derrick helping me? I just couldn't find my answers around it.

“Yes I will,” Derrick said. “Please, let her go.”

Jethro stared at me, almost staring into my soul with so much hatred. After a long moment of silence, he finally nodded. “Fine. Get her out of my sight he said motioning his hands in disgust

I was untied, my legs trembling As I stood trying to gain my stamina.
